:00:14. > :00:17.Good evening. Welcome to Points West. Ahead lines: Death in a

:00:17. > :00:23.vicarage. A man is found dead in Thornbury.

:00:23. > :00:26.Police are not ruling out murder. A rower who was shipwrecked in the

:00:26. > :00:30.Atlantic is reunited with his family in Wiltshire.

:00:30. > :00:32.A new system of a justice - and fenders and Swindon face the ordeal

:00:33. > :00:38.of meeting their victims face-to- face.

:00:38. > :00:48.And you say tomato, I say "tom-ay- to". Valentine's tips on how to

:00:48. > :00:52.Good evening. A middle-aged man has been found dead inside a vicarage

:00:52. > :00:55.in the town of the Longbridge near Bristol. Police have sealed off the

:00:55. > :00:58.Church of St Mary's & St Paul's and are treating the death as

:00:58. > :01:02.suspicious. The congregation have been talking of their shock at what

:01:03. > :01:06.has happened after the body was found by workmen. The man's

:01:06. > :01:10.identity is known but we are not revealing it, because officers have

:01:10. > :01:15.not been able to tell all of his family.

:01:15. > :01:22.The discovery was made just after 10am today, when a team of two

:01:22. > :01:25.builders arrived at their new vicarage -- of the new vicarage.

:01:25. > :01:29.The a were unable to gain entry and had to get a spare key from the

:01:29. > :01:36.caretaker. When they entered with the caretaker, they found the body

:01:36. > :01:40.of a man in the hallway. Any idea how he died? At this stage, no.

:01:40. > :01:46.death has shocked residents and churchgoers. We are still in shock.

:01:46. > :01:51.I think it is terrible. It is such a quiet little area. As yet,

:01:51. > :01:55.detectives cannot be sure how the man died. But a Home Office

:01:55. > :01:58.pathologist is carrying out a post mortem. We are keeping an open mind.

:01:58. > :02:04.If anybody thinks they have any information that could help us,

:02:04. > :02:07.please call us. I would like to apologise to members of the local

:02:07. > :02:10.community for closing the roads. But they will appreciate that we

:02:10. > :02:15.need to do things properly in a situation like this. We do need

:02:15. > :02:21.their help and other did anybody with information to call us. Steve

:02:21. > :02:27.is still in the village tonight. Any developments? There has been

:02:27. > :02:32.won. In the last five minutes, the police have extended the cordon

:02:32. > :02:35.behind me. Earlier today, we were much closer to the scene where the

:02:35. > :02:39.body was found this morning by the team of builders but in the last

:02:39. > :02:44.five minutes, they have pushed it out. They will not tell us why but

:02:44. > :02:48.obviously, the investigation into this definitely suspicious death -

:02:48. > :02:54.and off the record, police are putting it a lot stronger than that

:02:54. > :02:58.- the cordon has been brought forward. The police seem to be

:02:58. > :03:02.quite vague about what is happening, perhaps deliberately, because they

:03:02. > :03:07.may know more, I suppose, but are they telling you they have any idea

:03:07. > :03:11.what might be highly -- what might be behind this? The man who was

:03:11. > :03:15.found is well known here in Thornbury. Everybody in the

:03:15. > :03:21.immediate area knows who it is and they are very distressed about it.

:03:21. > :03:29.People living in this rather select area, near the church, no with the

:03:29. > :03:36.dead man and are very concerned. The police themselves say there is

:03:36. > :03:40.no motive to whatever led to this death. Thanks very much indeed.

:03:40. > :03:45.A former employee of the luxury cruise firm Cunard has been charged

:03:45. > :03:51.with the sexual assault of a child and possessing indecent images of

:03:51. > :03:55.children. Paul Trotter worked for the Southampton travel company as a

:03:55. > :03:59.supervisor in a children's activity area. Cunard say they are deeply

:03:59. > :04:03.shocked by the allegations and an independent review is under way

:04:03. > :04:07.into their policies and procedures. Wiltshire police are contacting all

:04:07. > :04:11.the parents they need to speak to. The Wiltshire brewer has been

:04:11. > :04:16.reunited with his family after surviving an accident at sea where

:04:17. > :04:23.his boat capsized in the middle of the Atlantic. -- they will check

:04:23. > :04:32.roller. Simon Brown was part of 18 trying to break a world record for

:04:32. > :04:37.cycling from Morocco to Barbados. Back at home with his wife and

:04:37. > :04:42.children, Simon Brown and knows he is a very lucky man. It is amazing

:04:42. > :04:49.to be back. It has taken so long since the boat turned over to get

:04:49. > :04:53.home. Simon and the other five rowers on their boat, Sara G, set

:04:53. > :04:59.out from Morocco just after New Year. Their aim was to reach

:04:59. > :05:03.Barbados inside the 33 day world record. But 27 days in, just 500

:05:03. > :05:09.miles short of their target, the boat capsized, leaving them

:05:09. > :05:13.stranded in the ocean. It went from the guys run it to being upside

:05:13. > :05:20.down and everyone in the sea in less than 20 seconds. -- rowing it.

:05:20. > :05:25.As I looked back, we were all looking for someone to take the

:05:25. > :05:33.lead. I had never been in the ocean before and to be in the middle of

:05:33. > :05:37.the seat was one of the moments that I will not forget. -- the sea.

:05:37. > :05:42.Amazingly for Simon and his crew mates, it was not it. They all

:05:42. > :05:47.survived unscathed. Now that he is back, his wife has no intention of

:05:47. > :05:56.letting him out of her sight. the best thing ever. Very good.

:05:56. > :06:01.Love it. He is not going again! Back where he belongs. Today, Simon

:06:01. > :06:05.was back at work. He sells fruit and vegetables for living for this

:06:05. > :06:09.company near Chew Valley Lake. soon as signed and said he was

:06:09. > :06:13.going to do this challenge, we knew that he would end up doing it. We

:06:13. > :06:21.are so sorry for them that they did not get to the final marker, but we

:06:21. > :06:25.were so relieved when we heard that they had been it OK after capsizing.

:06:25. > :06:31.A sentiment echoed in the family home. As in many homes today, there

:06:31. > :06:36.are plenty of Valentine's cards on display. Simon's message to Jo is

:06:36. > :06:42.simple - a promise to stay on dry land and an apology for a rough

:06:42. > :06:46.start of the year, but thankfully ended well.

:06:46. > :06:50.Good to see him back. You are watching Points West this Tuesday

:06:50. > :06:54.evening. Stay with us because we have got plenty more to come,

:06:55. > :07:00.including: The cost of the clean-up. Work gets started to turn College

:07:00. > :07:03.Green green. And from this to the dancefloor.

:07:03. > :07:12.How Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards is launching himself into a new

:07:12. > :07:16.challenge. If you have been burgled at home or

:07:16. > :07:20.perhaps been the victim of anti- social behaviour, how would you

:07:20. > :07:25.feel meeting the person who did it face to face? As a way of keeping

:07:25. > :07:29.children out of prison, a new pilot scheme is to be tried in Swindon,

:07:29. > :07:34.where victims and offenders are given the chance of what is called

:07:34. > :07:40.restorative justice. They left their bikes here and then walked

:07:40. > :07:45.through here. One night last May, Debbie was woken by a noise in her

:07:45. > :07:51.back garden. She went downstairs to find she had been burgled. The

:07:51. > :07:54.child who broke in was just 13 years old. Debbie agreed to meet

:07:54. > :07:58.him face to face - something that he found even more frightening than

:07:58. > :08:07.the courts. It was quite an emotional meeting, because one of

:08:07. > :08:13.the things that he took from me was an iPod. Everybody has got one, and

:08:13. > :08:23.somebody had given it to me when I was quite ill. That hasn't really

:08:23. > :08:28.got to me. I said that and he said, "I am so sorry. I wish I could do

:08:28. > :08:33.something for Dewe". Part of his payback, or sentence, is to pay

:08:33. > :08:36.dividends in her garden. -- for do. A I have only got a small garden

:08:36. > :08:41.but he is going to have to come back and face mead and if you do

:08:41. > :08:45.something, you have to pay back. The government pledge to extend the

:08:45. > :08:49.use of restorative justice, a move that has been welcomed by Swindon's

:08:49. > :08:53.youth offending team. We have been doing this with young people for a

:08:53. > :08:58.good many years, very successfully. I believe there is a move to

:08:58. > :09:01.including adults in these schemes, which is long overdue. Swindon's

:09:02. > :09:04.new neighbourhood justice panels will be run by local people,

:09:05. > :09:09.tackling low-level crime like graffiti and anti-social behaviour

:09:09. > :09:13.on the streets. The panel will sentence offenders and bring them

:09:13. > :09:18.into the same room as the people they have targeted. It does not

:09:18. > :09:23.exclude the court. This is before court. Every pound spent on this

:09:23. > :09:26.save 9 in the criminal justice system and many will tell you it is

:09:26. > :09:29.a harder process to go through because they have to sit face-to-

:09:29. > :09:32.face, and take responsibility for what they have done. The pilot will

:09:32. > :09:39.be funded locally with the hope that face-to-face meetings will

:09:39. > :09:44.prove so powerful, they will stop criminals reoffending in the future.

:09:44. > :09:48.Police have charged three teenagers in Bristol for trying to distract a

:09:49. > :09:53.pilot after a laser, like this one, was shown at the police helicopter.

:09:53. > :09:56.The incident happened in the early hours of this morning. It comes a

:09:56. > :10:00.day after we reported how a train driver was injured when the laser

:10:00. > :10:05.was shown into his eyes. Around 150 workers at the Great

:10:05. > :10:08.Western Hospital in Swindon have started the first of three one-day

:10:08. > :10:11.strikes. Porters, kitchen staff and cleaners claimed they are being

:10:11. > :10:17.bullied and harassed by managers from the private contractors

:10:17. > :10:25.Carillon. We want to work peacefully, without any threatening

:10:25. > :10:28.or bullying or other things and there is no respect at all. They

:10:28. > :10:34.say they are going to give us a disciplinary if you forget to sign

:10:34. > :10:39.something. It is too much mental stress. You have to think before

:10:39. > :10:43.starting work, "these people are going to come," and you cannot work

:10:43. > :10:47.happily. Carillon says it is disappointed the action is taking

:10:47. > :10:52.place but has contingency plans in place to ensure the running of the

:10:52. > :10:57.hospital is not affected. The High Court has told the owner

:10:57. > :11:01.of Swindon's historic mechanics' institute that he must reimburse

:11:01. > :11:06.the Council for money be spent on emergency repairs. The council

:11:06. > :11:11.spent more than 4,000 on repairs to the Grade Two listed building,

:11:11. > :11:15.which had fallen into a dangerous state. The owners had argued that

:11:15. > :11:19.the work was not necessary, but today's ruling means they must now

:11:20. > :11:24.repay the Council for the work, plus interest and court costs.

:11:24. > :11:29.Work has begun to clean up College Green in Bristol, which the Occupy

:11:29. > :11:33.movement left a few weeks ago. We turfing is expected to cost 4,000

:11:33. > :11:39.and despite help from a local company stepping in to help keep

:11:39. > :11:44.the costs down, who will pay for Occupy started to their tented

:11:44. > :11:47.protest in the city centre last October. This patchwork of mud was

:11:47. > :11:54.what was left behind when they moved out just a couple of weeks

:11:54. > :12:02.ago. Today, the diggers moved in as a local firm it prepares to Return

:12:02. > :12:06.of the ground. It will cost the taxpayer 4,000. Council said this

:12:06. > :12:12.would cost 100,000 to repair. We are down to 4,000. Quite a

:12:12. > :12:19.difference. Various people had said different sums. The sum I was given

:12:19. > :12:22.was 14,000. The 4,000 is a lot less, so that is great news. I feel

:12:22. > :12:27.that people want to see things returning back to normal and a

:12:27. > :12:32.confidence that they can come and use the green, because it is open

:12:32. > :12:36.to everybody - even for protest. who will pay for this work? Occupy

:12:36. > :12:41.told the BBC its legacy was more than a muddy field and that it

:12:41. > :12:45.would pick up the tab. Were have not got all of the money that we

:12:45. > :12:50.will need together but we are working on it. We certainly intend

:12:50. > :12:54.to pay, but whether we pay the council is a different thing. The

:12:54. > :12:58.land belongs to the church. We would be much happier to pay the

:12:58. > :13:03.Dean and he could sort it out with the council himself. How much have

:13:03. > :13:08.you raised so far? I do not have figures. I am not part of the

:13:08. > :13:12.finance team. Some protesters who were on College Green have now

:13:12. > :13:16.occupied this house, which has been empty for months. Others are

:13:16. > :13:20.planning more occupations. So while this work should be complete by the

:13:20. > :13:28.end of the month, it seems the Occupy movement could be with us

:13:28. > :13:32.It was a simple bang to the head which had some devastating

:13:32. > :13:37.consequences. When Ashley Luckett from Somerset was 10 years old, he

:13:37. > :13:42.was knocked over in the playground. He went on to have a fit at home,

:13:42. > :13:45.due to a blood clot, which left him hospitalised for a year and a half.

:13:45. > :13:49.Years on, Ashley's father says he's just about come to terms with the

:13:49. > :13:54.fact that he now faces spending the rest of his life as a full time

:13:54. > :14:04.carer. Here's Sabet Choudhury. A few weeks after this photo was

:14:04. > :14:08.

:14:08. > :14:15.taken, Ashley Luckett's life was to Well done, good boy. Now 14, he is

:14:15. > :14:18.partially paralysed and unable to speak. He relies on his father - a

:14:18. > :14:26.single parent who's raised him since age of 2. It was all caused

:14:26. > :14:35.by knock to the head in school. When I got custody, I decided to

:14:35. > :14:40.devote my life to him. With me, it is 100% and nothing else. I decided

:14:40. > :14:44.I could not leave him in hospital and drive away. If he had died I

:14:44. > :14:48.would have been left with the guilt for the rest of my lives.

:14:48. > :14:53.condition is the result of a cruel twist of fate. A ban on the head

:14:53. > :14:58.which led to a blood clot. Now David is Ashley's fell -- full-time

:14:58. > :15:06.carer. He is dependent on me for everything, feeding, washing,

:15:06. > :15:10.bathing. It has more to both the best of our lives. It was a

:15:10. > :15:16.perfectly normal life and a normal boy who could walk and do horse-

:15:16. > :15:21.riding. He has now become dependent on everybody. David's biggest fear

:15:21. > :15:26.is for Ashley's future. When I have gone, what would happen to him, he

:15:26. > :15:36.will be in a home being looked after. And that is a very sad thing

:15:36. > :15:40.

:15:40. > :15:44.to happen to your son. It's awful. It is an awful reality. If someone

:15:44. > :15:52.said can you give him your brain, I would. I would give him what I have

:15:52. > :16:01.got. Yes, I know. The future may be tough but to David a life without

:16:01. > :16:04.his son would have been even worse. And on Valentine's Day that is what

:16:04. > :16:08.love is all about. Now to football and some vital

:16:08. > :16:11.games tonight. All our sides are in league action, but the battle for

:16:11. > :16:14.the top spots in league two is turning out to be something of a

:16:14. > :16:17.thriller with Cheltenham and Swindon right in the thick of it.

:16:17. > :16:20.David Passmore is here to give us a run down.

:16:20. > :16:23.Yes, both Cheltenham and Swindon both face promotion rivals this

:16:23. > :16:29.evening so the top of the table could have a very different

:16:29. > :16:36.complexion come tomorrow morning. Cheltenham knocked off top spot

:16:36. > :16:39.after Southend won last night. They play Torquay who are fourth.

:16:39. > :16:47.Swindon meanwhile are in 5th place and they have a chance to make up

:16:47. > :16:50.ground as they face 3rd placed Crawley. So it's all very tight. As

:16:50. > :16:54.for form, Swindon have won their last five league games in a row.

:16:54. > :16:57.But Cheltenham are having a bit of a wobble. Just one win in their

:16:57. > :17:01.last four and they could only manage a draw at Hereford on

:17:01. > :17:11.Saturday. So how does their chairman view the importance of

:17:11. > :17:11.

:17:11. > :17:17.It is a big game. West Country rivals. The manager of the month

:17:17. > :17:21.last month, the on form team. They always play good football. So, very

:17:21. > :17:26.important game. They could be level on points with us tonight if they

:17:26. > :17:29.get a result was and all to play for. Well, Bristol Rovers will see

:17:29. > :17:32.if they can extend their run of three successive wins when they

:17:32. > :17:35.take on Shrewsbury. A third win came when they beat Morecambe on

:17:35. > :17:39.Saturday. Rovers will continue to be without defenders Gary Sawyer

:17:39. > :17:42.and Aaron Downes. Yeovil Town will try to put more distance between

:17:42. > :17:46.themselves and the relegation zone at the bottom of league one when

:17:46. > :17:54.they play Wycombe. And finally Bristol City who did so well after

:17:54. > :18:01.the appointment of Derek McInnes as manager have struggled of late.

:18:01. > :18:05.They lost 3-0 at Hull. They are still five points clear of the

:18:05. > :18:08.relegation zone but need to prevent a run of three defeats when they

:18:08. > :18:10.take on Crystal Palace. All the results in our late bulletin in the

:18:11. > :18:13.10 o'clock news. We're used to seeing him launching

:18:14. > :18:16.himself off a ski jump but now Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards is

:18:16. > :18:22.preparing for something which promises to be even more nerve

:18:22. > :18:24.racking - dancing. Eddie is taking part in the new series of Let's

:18:25. > :18:31.Dance where celebs recreate famous dance routines for Sport Relief -

:18:31. > :18:34.it starts on BBC1 this weekend. Eddie is with us tonight and we'll

:18:35. > :18:38.be talking to him in a moment but first let's have a look at some of

:18:38. > :18:48.the performances which have left a lasting impression on us in recent

:18:48. > :19:23.

:19:23. > :19:29.What have you done! I will not be dressing up as a woman. That was

:19:29. > :19:36.one of my questions. There was a theme. Have you been watching it

:19:36. > :19:46.previously? Little bits here and there. Are you a good mover? I have

:19:46. > :19:52.danced in the past. I did enjoy it. But I have not done it in 10 years.

:19:52. > :20:00.Are you as successful as Olympic sports? Younger viewers may not

:20:00. > :20:09.remember this. I do, it is etched in my memory. You were a real

:20:09. > :20:14.talking point. What year was this? 1987/88. And with this theme a bee

:20:14. > :20:19.in your dancing? A little bit. It is a crash course

:20:19. > :20:25.in dancing. It was a crash course in ski-jumping 24 years ago. There

:20:25. > :20:30.are similarities. I am more nervous doing the dancing. You see the

:20:30. > :20:34.rehearsals on Strictly Come Dancing. How does it compare? I had an

:20:34. > :20:39.hour's rehearsal before Christmas and an hour's rehearsal two weeks

:20:39. > :20:45.ago. The main rehearsals start next Monday and I will be there all week,

:20:45. > :20:51.every day, all-day training for the show on Saturday. It is a good

:20:51. > :20:57.cause. Sports relief is a great cause. I'll also be walking a mile

:20:57. > :21:01.in Bristol on the day. Hopefully it will be good all round. It is great

:21:01. > :21:06.to see you and you're a great sporting hero. And people can still

:21:06. > :21:12.get involved. Yes, go to the website and register and they can

:21:12. > :21:17.do a mile in Bristol and raise a bit of money for a great cause. Get

:21:17. > :21:23.on the website and register. And we saw the website just then. Best of

:21:23. > :21:27.luck, we are excited for you. very nervous! What could possibly

:21:27. > :21:32.go wrong?! Well, it can't have escaped your

:21:32. > :21:41.notice that today is Valentine's Day. And we thought we'd seize upon

:21:42. > :21:46.the opportunity to investigate the secret of a successful relationship.

:21:46. > :21:50.Work, I am the wrong person to ask! So tonight we can meet two couples

:21:50. > :21:53.who have very different relationships. One couple live and

:21:53. > :21:59.work together running a pub in Somerset, and the other have spent

:21:59. > :22:09.many months living apart. Just how do they make it work?

:22:09. > :22:17.He is at him, she is front of house. We met in a hotel in Dublin. After

:22:17. > :22:22.three weeks we went out for a drink and... I had an accident with hot

:22:22. > :22:27.water. He rushed in and helped me out. That was how it started.

:22:27. > :22:32.moved in together for weeks later and had the same bank account two

:22:32. > :22:38.months later. 13 years now and we spent time together and we are

:22:38. > :22:42.soulmates. We love spending time together. The live together, work

:22:42. > :22:48.together and run the business together. And they have come back

:22:48. > :22:52.from holiday together. We have a good understanding of one another.

:22:52. > :23:00.We crack a joke, there is a lot of laughter. The most beautiful part

:23:00. > :23:07.is we evolve every day together. It is a beautiful evolution. Beautiful

:23:07. > :23:12.it may be but all day every day? good sense of humour. A laugh

:23:12. > :23:18.Dickie is everything. It really dares. Spending all of your time

:23:18. > :23:22.together isn't the only recipe. This is Paul and Jackie. It's not

:23:22. > :23:26.often you see them in the same room. I met him in church, he was

:23:26. > :23:33.carrying a cross. We are interested in the same things and four friends

:23:33. > :23:38.for some time. We moved here in 1966. Eventually, we got married in

:23:38. > :23:44.1969. Within three years, Paul found his calling providing

:23:44. > :23:48.humanitarian aid, spending months in Ethiopia and and go there and

:23:48. > :23:54.travelling to natural disasters around the world. Sometimes I

:23:54. > :24:00.didn't know how long he would be away for. Weeks, months. You have

:24:00. > :24:09.to make a life of your own and do your things. You know he is doing

:24:09. > :24:16.something that is worthwhile. And it has been needed. This has always

:24:16. > :24:23.been my base. When I come back, this is where I come back to.

:24:23. > :24:33.proud of him. I did say it very often! Yes, very proud. Very much

:24:33. > :24:35.

:24:35. > :24:38.so. And also I feel... I am a part of it. It works for them. And if

:24:38. > :24:46.you're one of those people who need cheering up on Valentine's Day,

:24:46. > :24:49.here's something for you. These amazing pictures of a tiny badger

:24:49. > :24:55.weighing just 100 grams taken in by staff at Secret World in Highbridge

:24:55. > :24:59.in Somerset. Staff there have named her Hope and are feeding her every

:24:59. > :25:09.two hours, even through the night. One day they hope to release her

:25:09. > :25:11.

:25:11. > :25:16.I have never seen one that small! So sweet. Let's move on to the

:25:16. > :25:22.weather. It was lovely this morning. The sun was out. We thought we

:25:22. > :25:26.would put Gemma up on the reef. It is a little chilly on the reef

:25:26. > :25:32.but nowhere as cold as this time last week. What a difference a week

:25:32. > :25:38.does make. Last week, the daytime temperatures rarely struggled to

:25:38. > :25:45.get above freezing. Seven days later and it's a different story.

:25:45. > :25:49.In Bristol, ten Celsius, elsewhere we were not far behind. It was a

:25:49. > :25:53.we were not far behind. It was a different feel to the day. We are

:25:53. > :25:57.pulling in a much milder air, we have lost the eastern air and the

:25:57. > :26:02.air is coming from the West. That combined with a fair amount of

:26:02. > :26:09.sunshine. We saw some very nice holes in the cloud. The warmth of

:26:09. > :26:14.the Sun combined with mild air lifted the highs. Ten Celsius is a

:26:14. > :26:22.huge jump from last week. The mild weather continues, this evening and

:26:22. > :26:28.tonight the cloud or thin. The cloud will remain mild air. The

:26:28. > :26:32.enough pick us in a cloud for some patchy drizzle. The breeze picks up

:26:32. > :26:37.but it is mild air and tomorrow morning a great picture but the

:26:37. > :26:40.highs climbing steadily as the mild air continues to be pulled in. We

:26:40. > :26:46.will see less in the way of sunshine tomorrow but everywhere

:26:46. > :26:51.has a chance of double figures by tomorrow afternoon. Visibility is

:26:51. > :26:55.still good tomorrow despite we will not see as much sunshine. With high

:26:55. > :27:01.pressure dominating, this is the theme for the rest of the week.

:27:01. > :27:07.Greasy at times, a little grey and overcast and at times damp.

:27:07. > :27:13.Especially towards the end of the week. Overall, the temperatures are

:27:14. > :27:18.holding out very well. High single figures or double figures and at

:27:18. > :27:24.the weekend things turn chilly again with a return to frost. You

:27:25. > :27:29.can get more details online. You look positively rosy cheeks.

:27:29. > :27:36.That is just about is on Valentine's Day. If you have a
