:00:41. > :00:49.- the plans for a bypass that a split opinion in one Tyne for years.

:00:49. > :00:53.And is it or isn't it a Banksy? The mystery of the graffiti found under

:00:54. > :00:58.a bridge and Somerset. Good evening. The police are

:00:58. > :01:02.defending the decision to shoot dead a dog in Gloucestershire after

:01:02. > :01:06.it two members of the public. One of them was a 12-year-old girl.

:01:10. > :01:13.Staffordshire bull Terrier which also attacked a man and the police.

:01:13. > :01:20.Tonight a 30-year-old man is being questioned by officers after being

:01:20. > :01:25.arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out-of-control.

:01:25. > :01:30.Despenser Road in Tewkesbury - the scene at the start of a series of

:01:30. > :01:34.events. Police had been called after reports that the dog had

:01:34. > :01:38.bitten two people. One of them was Sydney Ryan. She knows the owners

:01:38. > :01:41.of the Dog and had gone to see if everything was OK after seeing the

:01:41. > :01:46.dog running around outside. She said she wasn't too badly injured

:01:46. > :01:49.and is angry the dog was eventually shot dead by the police. They

:01:49. > :01:57.should have grabbed the dock and handed down a shot that was one of

:01:57. > :02:02.those things the pits at Forest lake. -- that puts it is late. They

:02:02. > :02:07.said that at the dock do not come down, they would shoot it. Police

:02:07. > :02:11.say their efforts to come down the dock with the Taser gun did not

:02:11. > :02:16.work. Eventually they attracted several streets away and felt they

:02:16. > :02:21.had no option but to shoot it. They say it was a last resort. Away have

:02:21. > :02:25.reports that it was running loose. It had already endured two people,

:02:25. > :02:31.one of them badly. When the police attended the scene, they tried to

:02:31. > :02:35.calm it down because of the way it -- reacted to the police. Iran of

:02:35. > :02:42.10 area where members of the publican children were right --

:02:42. > :02:47.stolen. -- the dog ran into an area. A 30-year-old man from Gloucester

:02:47. > :02:57.is still being questioned after being arrested on suspicion of

:02:57. > :02:58.

:02:58. > :03:06.having a dog dangerously out of control.

:03:06. > :03:09.A man has been arrested in Bristol found dead in the West Midlands.

:03:09. > :03:13.Her body was discovered in a flat in Tipton last night. She hasn't

:03:13. > :03:16.been identified and a postmortem examination has yet been carried

:03:17. > :03:20.out. A a27-year-old man was arrested a Bristol Temple Meads

:03:20. > :03:25.this morning and has been taken to the West Midlands for questioning.

:03:25. > :03:28.The search for a man who fell from a bridge into the River Wye in

:03:28. > :03:31.Gloucestershire has been called off. Rikki Baldwin was reported missing

:03:31. > :03:36.after falling from the bridge between separate and Chepstow in

:03:36. > :03:39.the early hours of yesterday. An extensive land and water search

:03:39. > :03:45.through a thriller son was called off last night. Police are now

:03:45. > :03:50.examining CCTV the -- CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

:03:50. > :03:54.A Bristol man who accidentally shot on a laser pen at a police

:03:54. > :03:59.helicopter has been told by a judge he avoided jail by a whisker today.

:03:59. > :04:02.Stuart firing was walking his dogs when he began shining the pen in

:04:02. > :04:06.the air. He told the court he did not realise the lasers were

:04:06. > :04:11.appearing a vision of the helicopter pilot, you had to make

:04:11. > :04:15.an emergency landing. Mr Baring pleaded guilty to a charge of

:04:15. > :04:21.recklessly and negligently acting in a manner likely to endanger an

:04:21. > :04:23.aircraft, and was given a 12 of community order, a three-month

:04:23. > :04:28.curfew and ordered to pay 200 and costs.

:04:28. > :04:31.A huge surge in the Forest of Dean involving a helicopter and police

:04:31. > :04:39.dogs was knighted for five hours today after a nine-year-old boy was

:04:39. > :04:42.reported missing. -- was mounted. The alarm was raised just before

:04:42. > :04:46.midday after children told her parents the boy had -- they had

:04:46. > :04:51.been playing with had disappeared from the campsite. But after you

:04:51. > :04:54.was found, it will transpired the boys had never been lost and it was

:04:54. > :04:58.a misunderstanding. It seems it has won quite a day

:04:58. > :05:04.there? It has. And that wet evening. There

:05:04. > :05:08.are some hardy caravanners still tried to enjoy the break. Quite

:05:08. > :05:12.different to the one I came across when I arrived at four o'clock this

:05:12. > :05:15.afternoon. Then there was substantial police activity here.

:05:15. > :05:19.There was a police search underweight far this missing nine-

:05:19. > :05:24.year-old boy. It happened after a report came in after midday. He had

:05:24. > :05:27.been playing with three other girls at the campsite. They had been

:05:27. > :05:31.collecting some would fire a den. The girl suddenly discovered the

:05:31. > :05:37.boy was missing and they alerted their parents. Their parents were

:05:37. > :05:41.alerted and then they alerted the campsite management. The police

:05:41. > :05:44.helicopter was put up and scoured the area for quite some time. Then

:05:44. > :05:48.around five o'clock, another flurry of activity and the police supply

:05:48. > :05:53.had smiles on their faces. It turned out the boy had been found.

:05:53. > :05:58.I will leave it up to their officer to explain to you to what --

:05:58. > :06:03.exactly what happened. The family had been on a long walk in the

:06:03. > :06:08.woods and visited a local tourist attractions. They came back today

:06:08. > :06:12.to find the activity. They found them not to say please report to

:06:12. > :06:16.the camp securities side. We had managed ascertain the child was

:06:16. > :06:20.saved. I imagine they were surprised. They were. We are

:06:20. > :06:24.pleased that that was the outcome today. Yes, the police told me that

:06:24. > :06:28.they had to investigate every single report of a missing person

:06:28. > :06:32.very seriously. In this case ended well. Some people would say if

:06:32. > :06:36.widen the use one of these to try and track the family down, for a

:06:36. > :06:39.mobile phone. There is hardly a signal here. We managed to kite

:06:39. > :06:43.sight of the family leaving the office there when the news came

:06:43. > :06:51.through that their boy had been found. -- hot site of the family.

:06:51. > :06:55.The mother was surprised at the response. They will enjoy the rest

:06:55. > :07:00.of the break. The police did carry out their duties in the way they

:07:00. > :07:08.saw fit, but luckily this has ended well this evening.

:07:08. > :07:11.You are watching BBC Points West. Ian will be here with the latest

:07:12. > :07:16.weather forecast sharply. Before that there is plenty more to

:07:16. > :07:20.bring you, including: Still battling for Bath - the former

:07:20. > :07:24.science teacher celebrating 20 years as a local MP. And after the

:07:24. > :07:32.Easter weekend, can it will now be a happy end to the season for

:07:32. > :07:36.Bristol City and Swindon football clubs?

:07:36. > :07:40.It has cost millions of pounds over the years and has already been

:07:40. > :07:44.rejected once by the Government. Now the idea of a bypass road

:07:44. > :07:48.around Westbury is being put forward again. The main A350 runs

:07:48. > :07:52.right through the middle of the town and traffic queues keep on

:07:52. > :07:58.growing. But previous plans to relieve the pressure suggested

:07:58. > :08:04.building a bypass through some of the area's finest countryside.

:08:04. > :08:08.This is what it quite on the A350 through Westbury looks like. Still

:08:08. > :08:13.today there was an almost constant stream of cars, vans and lorries.

:08:13. > :08:19.There is congestion and pollution and the future looks busier. Many

:08:19. > :08:23.say this town's needs a bypass. large majority would agree that we

:08:23. > :08:28.need abide pass. There are those who do not care when it goes,

:08:28. > :08:32.whether it goes to the east of the West. And there are those who are

:08:32. > :08:36.particularly against the idea of going to the east and that is

:08:36. > :08:41.because the countryside to the east is more attractive. But overall, I

:08:41. > :08:45.think the town once a bypass. is the area to the east of the town

:08:45. > :08:50.where the old bypass was proposed. Straight through their wellhead

:08:50. > :08:55.valley. A planning inquiry said know. When you stop here for a

:08:55. > :09:00.moment and look you can see the natural beauty of this valley. It

:09:00. > :09:04.is why a bypass road was turned down last time and it is why local

:09:05. > :09:09.people are campaigning to keep this looking the way it does. Many

:09:09. > :09:14.campaigners accept there is a need for a new roads. The argument is

:09:14. > :09:17.over its location. We thought it was done and dusted two years ago

:09:17. > :09:21.when the inspectors said No It should not be pursued because of

:09:21. > :09:25.the exceptional beauty of the countryside here. And its

:09:25. > :09:30.tranquillity. And now we are finding it is raising its ugly head

:09:30. > :09:35.again. And it is totally unacceptable. It is such a lovely

:09:35. > :09:39.area and to put a roadway through it bid -- would be disastrous. I

:09:39. > :09:45.cannot think anybody in the right mind would want to put a road

:09:45. > :09:51.through this lovely area. The last failed bypass a tent took years to

:09:51. > :09:56.plan and cost the taxpayer millions. This time everyone holds options

:09:56. > :10:05.will be considered. But some are already gearing up to fight for the

:10:05. > :10:10.countryside once again. Severn Trent Water is considering

:10:10. > :10:15.supplying homes in drought-hit East Anglia. 13 million litres of water

:10:15. > :10:19.could be transferred every day using a network of canals. The

:10:19. > :10:23.operation could begin as early as June. Severn Trent is Curly not

:10:23. > :10:27.predicting any water restrictions in its own area and says the scheme

:10:27. > :10:31.would only happen if there is enough water to keep its own

:10:31. > :10:35.customers supplied. -- is currently not predicting.

:10:35. > :10:42.If it is on this day 20 years ago a former science teacher was getting

:10:42. > :10:45.used his new job as MP per Bath. Don Foster's win cost one of the

:10:45. > :10:50.biggest upsets for the 1992 election night by ousting Tory

:10:50. > :10:58.stalwart Chris Packham. So two decades and one day into his term,

:10:58. > :11:08.if we asked him if he had got the hang of it yet. -- Chris Patten.

:11:08. > :11:09.

:11:09. > :11:19.Liberal Democrat... 25,000. 20 years to -- today Don Foster was

:11:19. > :11:22.

:11:22. > :11:29.kind UNP. -- crowned MP. Chris Patten lost his seat. Inside don

:11:29. > :11:33.Foster raised his arms winning by almost 4,000 votes. I was totally

:11:33. > :11:40.exhausted by -- but I knew there was a lot of hard work ahead of me.

:11:40. > :11:44.20 years of trying my best to serve the people of Bath. Riding the ups

:11:44. > :11:51.and downs of being an MP, he has remained firmly in his seat, even

:11:51. > :11:54.through the bumpy ride of MPs' expenses. Adapting to new leaders,

:11:54. > :12:00.welcoming the coalition and watching some of the biggest

:12:00. > :12:04.changes in the way MPs do their job. I have got something like 500

:12:04. > :12:09.people a week now contacting me, wanting to express a view, getting

:12:09. > :12:14.in contact with us about a particular problem that they have

:12:14. > :12:20.got. They can do it so much easily, so there is a much bigger pressure

:12:21. > :12:28.on us. Others in the West have had similar longevity. Liam Fox became

:12:28. > :12:35.MP for would spirit, now North Somerset, that same night. For

:12:35. > :12:40.elections later and Don Foster has trouble that original majority,

:12:40. > :12:47.winning it is as than 10 by 12,000 votes. I job he says he still loves

:12:47. > :12:51.and has no plans to give up. -- 2010. The first Thursday in the in

:12:51. > :13:00.2015 is where the election will be and I will make a decision on what

:13:00. > :13:04.I will do long before that, but not yet. I enjoy what I do too much.

:13:04. > :13:08.Liam Fox and Geoffrey Clifton-Brown were also elected that night, but

:13:08. > :13:14.did you know the longest serving MP in the West is Dawn Primarolo,

:13:14. > :13:19.elected for label end 1987. -- for Labour.

:13:19. > :13:24.Today also marks another anniversary. It is 100 years since

:13:25. > :13:28.the Titanic sets sail on a fateful voyage for New York. Their ship was

:13:29. > :13:33.dubbed unthinkable but when down on April 15th killing more than 1,500

:13:33. > :13:39.people on board. To commemorate the centenary of the tragedy, a travel

:13:39. > :13:43.company has a rich for the cruise ship HMS Balmoral to be traced the

:13:43. > :13:47.final journey of the share. Our reporter is on board and has sent

:13:47. > :13:53.this report. Here on the Titanic memorial cruise

:13:53. > :13:57.it is very busy. Lots of them at the moment queuing for any type of

:13:57. > :14:03.memorabilia they can get their hands on. That is part of the

:14:03. > :14:07.screws which left on South happen on Sunday. Organised by this man. -

:14:07. > :14:12.- Southampton. Explain when you had this idea about taking passengers

:14:12. > :14:15.back to the wreck site. It started five years ago when a gentleman

:14:15. > :14:20.came into the shop and what about the concept of a cruise. I could

:14:20. > :14:27.not get it out of my head. 12 months after, I secured this

:14:27. > :14:32.wonderful ship and sucked out about 18 months later. People have paid

:14:32. > :14:37.up to 6,000 each. Some people watch this and think it is wrong,

:14:37. > :14:42.it is disrespectful. It is a bad form of tourism. I take the lead

:14:42. > :14:45.from the descendants on board the vessel. For them they cannot think

:14:45. > :14:49.of any better way to commemorate their loved ones. For me that is

:14:50. > :14:56.the most important thing of the screws. It is honouring those who

:14:56. > :15:01.died all those years ago. Thank you very much. I have heard people were

:15:01. > :15:11.talking. I have spotted people from Cheltenham. We will catch up with

:15:11. > :15:15.

:15:15. > :15:20.We have just heard that MS Balmoral has had to turn round because of an

:15:20. > :15:28.emergency. A medical emergency. The passengers family are aware of the

:15:28. > :15:38.situation. They still hope to reach the wreckage site at the weekend.

:15:38. > :15:39.

:15:39. > :15:46.To mark the anniversary, etchings are to go on display in New York

:15:46. > :15:50.City. Mary, who has painted them, joins us now. What was the

:15:50. > :15:56.experience of your own family? grant Mother's oldest brother was

:15:56. > :16:01.on the ship working as a steward and he was only 18. He had worked

:16:01. > :16:09.on other ships owned by the same White Star liner and her fiance was

:16:09. > :16:15.on board working. This affected her because neither of them were able

:16:15. > :16:21.to survive and she lost two very important people to her at that

:16:21. > :16:31.time. Eventually, she did meet another man some years later,

:16:31. > :16:32.

:16:32. > :16:39.otherwise I wouldn't be here. When she died, I found a few newspaper

:16:39. > :16:46.cuttings and a card from a memorial service from this date. That

:16:46. > :16:51.inspired me to do a project involving some etchings and various

:16:51. > :16:59.art work. We can have a look at a few of them. One of them is behind

:16:59. > :17:03.you. We have Titanic herself to stop we also have a collage in the

:17:03. > :17:11.background and it is a drowning hand. I find that one that really

:17:11. > :17:21.moving. Some of the documents which I found belonged to the family and

:17:21. > :17:21.

:17:22. > :17:27.I also found requests for help that were sent out, SOS messages that

:17:27. > :17:32.were sent out from the Titanic. Also certificates that were issued

:17:32. > :17:38.by the bodies which inspected ships. Although the Titanic had 16

:17:38. > :17:42.lifeboats, those were passed as being adequate at the time. They

:17:42. > :17:48.are incredibly moving images and you will be showing them in New

:17:48. > :17:56.York. An incredible honour. It is fantastic. I have a website for my

:17:56. > :18:01.art work and put this work on that and out of the blue, a message came

:18:01. > :18:05.through the website from the noble Maritime Museum in New York. They

:18:05. > :18:11.are having an exhibition of contemporary art to commemorate the

:18:11. > :18:21.Titanic sinking and asked me if I would send some of my etchings over.

:18:21. > :18:21.

:18:21. > :18:27.They have six there. I hope they go down well.

:18:27. > :18:31.You can see more of these images on a website.

:18:31. > :18:34.The Easter weekend couldn't have been much better for Bristol City

:18:35. > :18:39.and Swindon Town football clubs bicker both sides picked up six

:18:39. > :18:44.points out of six. What does this mean for their

:18:44. > :18:52.season? Alistair is here to tell us. Hopefully it means happy endings

:18:52. > :18:59.for both. Bristol City, it is looking a lot rosier. Let's look at

:18:59. > :19:05.the table. As you can see, they have a cushion. Promotion-chasing

:19:05. > :19:12.sides Birmingham and West Ham of their next two opponents. As far as

:19:12. > :19:16.Swindon are concerned, they are on the cusp of going up. They are 10

:19:16. > :19:20.clear of Crawley. The fans might be able to start those promotion

:19:20. > :19:27.celebrations this weekend. Neither side are willing to take anything

:19:27. > :19:33.for granted just yet. There is nothing like that winning

:19:33. > :19:39.feeling. For Bristol City, East has bought renewed hope of escaping the

:19:39. > :19:45.drop. Hopefully we will stay up. has given us confidence going into

:19:45. > :19:49.the last games. I think they will do it. They will really bring it

:19:49. > :19:54.forward. Having started the holiday period in the relegation zone, they

:19:54. > :20:00.now have destiny in their own hands. The win over Coventry putting them

:20:00. > :20:04.four points clear of the relegation zone with four games left to play.

:20:04. > :20:11.As big as the celebrations were yesterday, now it is back to

:20:11. > :20:14.focusing on a difficult game away to Birmingham. A lot of people

:20:14. > :20:19.including the lads would have been happy if that had been the last

:20:19. > :20:24.game of the season yesterday. We still have work to do and we know

:20:24. > :20:30.that. There will be no complacency or thinking the job is done because

:20:31. > :20:38.there is still plenty of work to be done. It has looked a done deal for

:20:38. > :20:43.a long time but Palo de Canio's Swindon are still up. They could

:20:43. > :20:46.achieve it this weekend at home to Plymouth with a ten-point advantage

:20:46. > :20:56.over 4th place, surely now the manager can admit his team will be

:20:56. > :20:59.

:20:59. > :21:05.promoted. Maybe I will believe it. I don't want to say anything. I am

:21:05. > :21:09.arrogant, we are ready to go up. Cheltenham hope to join them but a

:21:09. > :21:14.defeat at Rotherham means they meet a nervous final four games as they

:21:14. > :21:17.try to make the play-offs. We will look at Cheltenham on

:21:17. > :21:21.Friday night's programme. That leaves Yeovil Town who despite

:21:21. > :21:26.losing yesterday should have done enough to stay in League One. They

:21:26. > :21:30.have reached the 50. Mark, generally regarded as safe. They

:21:30. > :21:33.are eight points clear of the relegation zone and Bristol Rovers

:21:33. > :21:39.will be in League Two. They are hoping to finish in the top half

:21:39. > :21:46.but they will have to do better than yesterday's defeat at Crewe.

:21:46. > :21:52.Rugby now and Bath is clear out of coaching staff. Martin Haag will be

:21:52. > :22:02.following director of rugby say in my Keegan out of that season. The

:22:02. > :22:02.

:22:02. > :22:12.other code, would be staying. More changes to come in the next few

:22:12. > :22:14.

:22:14. > :22:19.There is a big question in Somerset tonight. Is it a Banksy or not?
