:00:00. > 3:59:59That is all from us. Newsnight is on BBC Two in a few moments, asking

:00:00. > :00:25.what lessons the flood have The Good evening.

:00:26. > :00:28.Two more families who lost children after heart surgery have come

:00:29. > :00:30.forward to express their concerns about their care at the Bristol

:00:31. > :00:33.Children's Hospital. This follows Friday's announcement that there's

:00:34. > :00:38.to be an inquiry into several deaths of children over recent years.

:00:39. > :00:42.Tonight the hospital maintains its results are safe, although it will

:00:43. > :00:44.be co`operating with the review Our Health Correspondent reports.

:00:45. > :00:48.This is the only video taken of Harley Pascoe in the days before he

:00:49. > :00:57.died when he was just twelve days old. It's treasured by his parents

:00:58. > :01:06.who to this day his parents are still searching for answers as to

:01:07. > :01:09.why. They say his operation last October was cancelled five times

:01:10. > :01:12.because there was no intensive care bed available at the Bristol

:01:13. > :01:17.Children's Hospital. And by the time he was given surgery, his condition

:01:18. > :01:22.had deteriorated. Nobody ever said it was urgent when we were at the

:01:23. > :01:27.hospital. It was not until he had an echo the day before the lead at his

:01:28. > :01:32.operation noticed the duct in his heart was closing up so they had to

:01:33. > :01:35.double his dose of drugs to keep it open. Batters when he became an

:01:36. > :01:43.emergency and was operated on the next day. The guy doing the heart

:01:44. > :01:48.echo said that he wanted him to be operated within a couple of days. He

:01:49. > :01:55.said it was surprised it took 1 days to operate, but he didn't know

:01:56. > :01:59.about it. The family say they have been told by the hospital that in

:02:00. > :02:03.the first operation a device called a shunt had dislodged. So he had to

:02:04. > :02:06.be operated on again. He died eight hours after. The hospital say Harley

:02:07. > :02:10.was not considered urgent at the time, which is why children with in

:02:11. > :02:12.a more serious condition had to be seen first. Another recently

:02:13. > :02:16.bereaved couple joined us. They happen to live just a few miles

:02:17. > :02:19.away. Stephen Snelton and his partner Vicky lost their daughter

:02:20. > :02:23.Mia Leigh last July, when she was just 11 days old. But still say they

:02:24. > :02:26.have heard nothing from the hospital about their Child Death Review for

:02:27. > :02:35.several months. I don't know what I should be doing. Nobody has

:02:36. > :02:40.explained to me. They promised us that she would always be one of our

:02:41. > :02:46.patients and they would keep in touch. I have had nothing. The

:02:47. > :02:53.hospital says it has written to the family but not heard back yet. One

:02:54. > :02:55.concern families share is over how the trust has communicated with

:02:56. > :02:59.them. Last Friday the medical director of the NHS announced an

:03:00. > :03:03.inquiry into the heart unit and some of the recent deaths. In the review

:03:04. > :03:06.Sir Ian Kennedy will be looking into issues such as communication and the

:03:07. > :03:09.treatment given to children here. But today the hospital told me it

:03:10. > :03:13.always strives to give the best care. And is saddened that a group

:03:14. > :03:16.of families believe they have been let down. It also said a recent

:03:17. > :03:27.survey of parents found 98% said they had received excellent or good

:03:28. > :03:30.care. These families hope the new enquiry he has announced will get to

:03:31. > :03:34.the bottom of what happened. Work to shore up the banks of a

:03:35. > :03:38.Somerset river has been going on all day as part of efforts to try to

:03:39. > :03:41.restart the pumping operation to clear the Levels. The high volume

:03:42. > :03:45.Dutch pumps had to be switched off after only a couple of days because

:03:46. > :03:48.they were eroding the bank of the River Parrett. Scott Ellis reports.

:03:49. > :03:55.At full blast, two tonnes of water tumbles out of each of these pipes

:03:56. > :04:00.every second. It has dug hole in the banks of this river so big that

:04:01. > :04:06.pumping has had to stop. It is hoped a metal containers will now help

:04:07. > :04:08.absorb the impact. This is a big job to putting crushed concrete and

:04:09. > :04:19.stone amongst other things to do this paper energy coming out. The

:04:20. > :04:32.cranes are here to do that. We hope to resume pumping later today.

:04:33. > :04:35.Crumbling mud banks have meant that the world's biggest mobile pumping

:04:36. > :04:41.operation has had to stop. They cannot afford many more delays. This

:04:42. > :04:48.river has been spilling over its banks for weeks. The need to get the

:04:49. > :04:55.pumps online because this is still all going to take many weeks to

:04:56. > :05:00.shift. The sooner river levels drop, the sooner dozens of other smaller

:05:01. > :05:08.pumps can restart work. And new distribution centre opened today

:05:09. > :05:14.near Bridgwater for flood victims. This man among those able to restock

:05:15. > :05:23.thanks to the generosity of others. Ten of us outside are working under

:05:24. > :05:30.cold and wet. We can't afford to get gale`force this woman helped set up

:05:31. > :05:38.relief effort. Life in temporary accommodation is taking its toll. It

:05:39. > :05:44.is all right until the middle of the night when she wakes up screaming.

:05:45. > :05:51.Then I will be in floods of tears. She doesn't expect to be home before

:05:52. > :06:00.Christmas. And new addition to Bridgwater docs this evening.

:06:01. > :06:03.Another pump from Holland which we are called as precautionary.

:06:04. > :06:06.Swindon Town have missed out on going to Wembley next month after

:06:07. > :06:10.losing their Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area Final on penalties. They

:06:11. > :06:13.led 1`0 in the first half with a goal from Alex Pritchard. But

:06:14. > :06:17.Peterborough equalised late on to take the tie to a penalty shoot out.

:06:18. > :06:32.And when Swindon missed their fifth spot`kick, Peterborough booked their

:06:33. > :06:36.place in the Wembley final. The weather this week is

:06:37. > :06:41.considerably quieter. I am not promising dry weather, but certainly

:06:42. > :06:46.a lot less windy and we will get longer spells of dry weather in

:06:47. > :06:52.between the rain. Tomorrow, a few showers around and generally light

:06:53. > :06:57.winds. Some showers tonight will become more isolated. Towards the

:06:58. > :07:04.morning, a line of frequent showers will cross much of the region. A

:07:05. > :07:15.better chance to see sums me spells developing. As for the outlook,

:07:16. > :07:20.expect a fine outlook on Friday For Wednesday night and into Thursday,

:07:21. > :07:25.that is when we see the next spell of wet weather. Most of Wednesday is

:07:26. > :07:30.try. Then a line of quite persistent rain coming through and telling war

:07:31. > :07:33.`` turning more for the most part on Wednesday, it

:07:34. > :07:45.will turn more unsettled. Whilst across the whole of the

:07:46. > :07:49.country the general weather pattern shows no signs of completely

:07:50. > :07:53.settling down there is some good news. There will be some drier

:07:54. > :07:57.spells over the next couple of days, the wind is not as strong and it

:07:58. > :08:04.will be relatively mild. Cloud tonight, the exception is the

:08:05. > :08:10.Northern Isles. The risk of a touch of Frost. A weakening front sitting

:08:11. > :08:15.through Scotland. Some heavier showers for Northern Ireland and the

:08:16. > :08:16.south-west. A misty and murky
