:00:11. > :00:12.Good evening. ?10 million is to be the papers on the news channel. Now

:00:13. > :00:16.Good evening. ?10 million is to be given to farmers to help thdm

:00:17. > :00:19.recover from flooding. In Somerset there are still thousands of acres

:00:20. > :00:23.underwater, two severe flood warnings and insurance clails of

:00:24. > :00:26.more than ?6 million. But today at the NFU conference, the Farling

:00:27. > :00:33.Minister announced a scheme to help farmers get back on their fdet.

:00:34. > :00:38.Fiona Lamdin reports. Hundreds of farms on the Levels are

:00:39. > :00:48.still under water. Today, some of those farmers travelled 150 miles to

:00:49. > :00:52.hear what help is at hand. For those farms that have been flooded, there

:00:53. > :00:55.will be an immediate response fund with grants up to ?5,000. A

:00:56. > :00:59.commitment to dredge, more loney for flood defences, and grants for

:01:00. > :01:06.water`logged farms. And it was our farmers who were first on their feet

:01:07. > :01:12.to question him. When can wd see an end to this, and a more cooperative

:01:13. > :01:23.approach to all flood prevention on the Somerset Levels? We havd

:01:24. > :01:26.listened now. We have made ht clear that we are now going to drddge the

:01:27. > :01:29.rivers on the Somerset Levels. Following the news that the Prime

:01:30. > :01:33.Minster is giving a fresh ?00 million to help flooded farls, today

:01:34. > :01:41.we got some details into how that is being spent. ?5,000 will be given to

:01:42. > :01:46.farmers who have been flooddd to help them seed their land, build

:01:47. > :01:52.roads, and for drainage. Thhs money is a hand`out, it is money they will

:01:53. > :01:56.not have to pay back. Last xear we had the same problem. The ground was

:01:57. > :01:59.flooded and we all had to go and get money from wherever we could. This

:02:00. > :02:03.year, the government has acknowledged the fact that there is

:02:04. > :02:07.a problem, and that they ard prepared to help us stop it is very

:02:08. > :02:12.welcome news. The money will fix a quarter of John's fields ` the rest

:02:13. > :02:18.he will have to pay for, but is this fair? A question I put to the

:02:19. > :02:22.farming minister. At the molent it is prudent to start off with that

:02:23. > :02:26.?5,000 cap to make sure we don't exhaust the fund to quickly, meaning

:02:27. > :02:28.that some of those worst affected won't get any help. Today's money

:02:29. > :02:32.will help towards the regendration, but until this water starts to shift

:02:33. > :02:39.the seeds of hope, little c`n be done or grown here.

:02:40. > :02:43.One farmer who's lost money because of the weather is Heather Vdnn, a

:02:44. > :02:51.beef farmer from Stoke St Gregory. Tonight she gave her reaction to

:02:52. > :02:56.today's news. It is better than nothing, which is

:02:57. > :03:00.what we had in the last event. I'm very pleased that this has started

:03:01. > :03:04.to happen, but I do hope it is accessible for people, and that

:03:05. > :03:08.people are going to be able to get hold of the money without h`ving to

:03:09. > :03:11.jump through too many hoops. I think the farming community are vdry

:03:12. > :03:16.relieved that we are being seen to be needing some support at this

:03:17. > :03:22.stage, and the whole prospect of trying to recover from this, having

:03:23. > :03:27.obviously having to recover from the last event, and this water has been

:03:28. > :03:31.there a long time, so it is a relief that the government is now

:03:32. > :03:34.acknowledging that we have ` problem here. What I would like to see more

:03:35. > :03:38.than just the money coming to farmers is a commitment to laintain

:03:39. > :03:40.these waters so we don't get into this position again.

:03:41. > :03:42.Protests by young people in Wiltshire have helped save some of

:03:43. > :03:46.the county's youth services. The group of teenagers were detdrmined

:03:47. > :03:49.to stop cuts of over half a million pounds and campaigned for wdeks

:03:50. > :03:53.Here's our political editor Paul Barltrop.

:03:54. > :03:58.It's just one of 24 places where the council run youth services hn

:03:59. > :04:01.Wiltshire. But, those who use Grosvenor House in Salisburx were

:04:02. > :04:04.determined not to lose it. Today they took their campaign direct to

:04:05. > :04:08.councillors. At stake ` proposed cuts of half a million pounds. Their

:04:09. > :04:13.efforts had caught the eye of politicians. Behind the scenes there

:04:14. > :04:16.had been talks. In the meethng, the opposition leader put forward a way

:04:17. > :04:22.to reinstate ?250,000, and ht was accepted by the ruling

:04:23. > :04:30.Conservatives. So, for thesd novices, a successful foray into

:04:31. > :04:34.politics. It is excellent wd are making progress, and it is great

:04:35. > :04:41.they are keeping it open. It is a fantastic step forwards. It is a big

:04:42. > :04:46.improvement, it is not what we wanted, but it is a compromhse. I

:04:47. > :04:49.think it is workable. Youth services still face cuts and big changes `

:04:50. > :04:58.the council leader wants thdm better used. I don't regret it. Wh`t it has

:04:59. > :05:02.done is meant have had really good conversations and we continte to do

:05:03. > :05:07.that, especially with young people of the county to see how, instead of

:05:08. > :05:11.8% of our young people actu`lly going into youth centres, wd can

:05:12. > :05:13.look at how we can engage whth young people in the county. Wiltshire s

:05:14. > :05:16.?333 million budget was votdd through. Councillors were told

:05:17. > :05:27.they're making ?25 million of savings, with more to come.

:05:28. > :05:30.The root cause of the cut is the ongoing funding that will trigger is

:05:31. > :05:34.from central government. But there is one thing the council is

:05:35. > :05:38.determined to get more monex from Whitehall for, the damage c`used by

:05:39. > :05:41.the flooding. Potholed roads are already the biggest issue for many

:05:42. > :05:47.voters. As the falling waters reveal their worst, a big repair bhll is

:05:48. > :05:51.being prepared for the Government. Football now, and Swindon Town were

:05:52. > :05:56.held to a draw tonight in the League One play`offs. They achieved 1` at

:05:57. > :05:58.home to Crawley. There was disappointment for Cheltenh`m in

:05:59. > :06:02.League Two. They suffered a 4`1 defeat at home to Chesterfidld,

:06:03. > :06:06.while a late goal for Bristol Rovers meant they managed a 1`1 dr`w away

:06:07. > :06:10.at Scunthorpe. Before I go, just time to tdll you

:06:11. > :06:18.that our series on the First World War continues tomorrow. I'vd been to

:06:19. > :06:25.Somerset to follow the storx of the mules who were brought to the west

:06:26. > :06:31.before joining the Army. Thdy came by rail from Avonmouth and were

:06:32. > :06:35.trained and shod near Minehdad. The story is on BBC Somerset at 8:1 am

:06:36. > :06:35.tomorrow, and on Points West tomorrow night.

:06:36. > :06:43.Now, time for the weather whth Ian. Now, time for the weather whth

:06:44. > :06:47.Tomorrow will bring a simil`r dated today, so broadly speaking, sunny

:06:48. > :06:51.spells and showers, but gendrally fewer showers than many of xou have

:06:52. > :06:55.seen through the course of today. Tonight, many of those showdrs will

:06:56. > :06:59.disappear as well, with temperatures topping two two Celsius in parts of

:07:00. > :07:03.the countryside. Further showers tomorrow morning, particularly in

:07:04. > :07:07.some western areas. You will notice the distribution of these is not

:07:08. > :07:12.particularly widespread. As the day goes on, they will lessen through

:07:13. > :07:15.the. A good deal of dry and sunny weather, with cloud increashng

:07:16. > :07:24.through the course of the afternoon. The sunshine will turn hazy. Not as

:07:25. > :07:29.easy tomorrow as today. Tendt is fulfilled decent up to 10 Cdlsius in

:07:30. > :07:31.the sunshine. `` temperaturds. I'm settled into the weekend.

:07:32. > :07:36.be rain, clearing into sunshine and showers, Buster once. Then it is

:07:37. > :07:40.more difficult. Susan Powell is here to explain more international focus.

:07:41. > :07:47.Take a glimpse out of the window and the chances they will be starry

:07:48. > :07:52.skies where you are. The showers we have today are dying back to the

:07:53. > :07:56.coast. The breeze is also easing and reclaiming skies and light winds, it

:07:57. > :07:59.will be chilly overnight tonight. The wind will remain keen enough to

:08:00. > :08:06.hold the frost that bay and in the far north-west, bringing in some

:08:07. > :08:09.showers, if going down to the far southern coast. In rural areas,

:08:10. > :08:10.don't be surprised if there
