:00:14. > :00:18.Good evening. A coroner tod`y spoke of "lost opportunities" aftdr a baby
:00:19. > :00:20.boy died at a Bristol hospital. Rohan Rhodes was treated at St
:00:21. > :00:24.Michael's in September 2012, because of problems with his heart, but died
:00:25. > :00:35.two days after he arrived. Laura Jones reports. Rowan was a very
:00:36. > :00:43.lively baby. The he was ` Hd had a great grip. Yes. Baby Rowan was Fife
:00:44. > :00:47.weeks old when he died at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol. He
:00:48. > :00:51.was born prematurely in Swansea and had a problem with his heart and had
:00:52. > :00:55.been transferred to the specialist unit for treatment. The inqtest
:00:56. > :00:59.heard that although he was ` poorly baby and needed help to bre`the he
:01:00. > :01:03.had been in a stable condithon whilst in hospital in Swansda
:01:04. > :01:12.twochlt days after arriving at the hospital in Bristol, he died. For
:01:13. > :01:15.three days his parents, Alex and Bronwen, came here looking for
:01:16. > :01:19.answers to what happened. They blamed their son's death on a
:01:20. > :01:25.catalogue of errors by hosphtal staff. We are happy that thd coroner
:01:26. > :01:31.did find some lost opportunhties. We're disappointed that she didn't `
:01:32. > :01:38.Go further. Yeah. It should never have happened. Today, the coroner
:01:39. > :01:42.said there were three occashons on which tests should have been carried
:01:43. > :01:45.out on Rohan. She went on to say although it's not known what the
:01:46. > :01:49.results of those tests would have been, these were lost opportunities
:01:50. > :01:54.which may have resulted in Rohan receiving earlier medical c`re.
:01:55. > :01:59.Today, the Hospital Trust offered their sincere condolences to Rohan's
:02:00. > :02:04.family and said that lessons had been learned. We care for some of
:02:05. > :02:14.the sickest babies around the region. We had to respond to an
:02:15. > :02:18.enormous number of cases coling through. We pulled in staff and
:02:19. > :02:23.extra staff to help. I think the team did remarkably well at that
:02:24. > :02:30.time. Rohan's parents hope that other families in the futurd won't
:02:31. > :02:33.have to go through the same ordeal. As we enjoyed more welcome sunshine
:02:34. > :02:36.today, much of the Somerset Levels still remains under water. @ huge
:02:37. > :02:39.warehouse is keeping people from flooded villages stocked up with
:02:40. > :02:51.food and supplies, we'll be live there in a moment, but first here's
:02:52. > :02:55.Andrew Plant. Mark and Sarah Corthine left almost everything
:02:56. > :03:00.behind. Can you unpack the bags What started in a store rool, now
:03:01. > :03:04.taking the time of dozens of volunteers, sorting through piles of
:03:05. > :03:09.clothing. This just one row in a warehouse full of help for those
:03:10. > :03:15.forced from their homes. From food to shower gel, bottled water, to
:03:16. > :03:19.blankets, it's not just farlers but families affected by these floods.
:03:20. > :03:23.The water is still in the houses. You still can't drive down to your
:03:24. > :03:27.house. I think kind of people think because it's sunny, because it's
:03:28. > :03:31.dying down slightly, the water has gone and we are back in. It's not
:03:32. > :03:38.the case. It will be months. Afternoon, a long walk in w`ders to
:03:39. > :03:47.see what can be salvaged now. The photos and memories that no amount
:03:48. > :03:50.of donations can ever replace. Paul Blackmore is helping to run that
:03:51. > :03:55.warehouse that we've been hdaring about tonight. We can join him live
:03:56. > :04:00.now. Good evening, Paul. How much stuff have you got there? I'm
:04:01. > :04:04.struggling to keep track of how much stuff we have here. The don`tions
:04:05. > :04:07.have been phenomenonal. Thex are coming in from all around the
:04:08. > :04:10.country. I wouldn't like to guess. Hopefully, you can see in the being
:04:11. > :04:17.ba ground, we are pretty well stocked. You say people are generous
:04:18. > :04:23.from everywhere? Doe anywayses from Essex `` donations from Essdx and
:04:24. > :04:28.Newcastle. It has gone out puickly. A lot of families the collecting
:04:29. > :04:33.food and blankets. Give us `n idea, Paul, if you can of the scale of the
:04:34. > :04:37.need? The scale of the need, we are getting hundreds of families coming
:04:38. > :04:42.in every day picking up supplies. Lots of houses under water. Lots of
:04:43. > :04:45.houses that are cut off. Thdre are hundreds and hundreds of volunteers
:04:46. > :04:49.giving up their time and helping these families. It's a commtnity
:04:50. > :04:54.response to a community dis`ster. What would they do without xou? I
:04:55. > :05:00.don't know what they'd do whthout us. When families come in they are
:05:01. > :05:03.in tears. Tears in their eyds to see people's generosity. To see how the
:05:04. > :05:08.community is am coulding together and supporting each other. Ht really
:05:09. > :05:12.has been overwhelming. To bd clear about this, it isn't a government
:05:13. > :05:16.scheme or a council scheme, being done by people for people? That s
:05:17. > :05:20.correct. The I got involved a couple of weeks ago. Went down sorting some
:05:21. > :05:24.clothes. Straightaway it became quite obvious that the scald of this
:05:25. > :05:28.operation was bigger than wd could imagine. We secured a warehouse and
:05:29. > :05:32.we filled it. We filled the warehouse within a couple could of
:05:33. > :05:36.days and donations are still coming in and going out. Good stuff. Thank
:05:37. > :05:50.you for doing a great job. Thank you for joining us tonight. No problem.
:05:51. > :05:53.Thank you. A Somali teenager from Bristol, who's campaigning `gainst
:05:54. > :05:55.young girls becoming victims of mutilating surgery, has recdived a
:05:56. > :05:58.promise that the Government will write to all schools about the
:05:59. > :06:01.issue. Fahma Mohamed presented the Education Secretary, Michael Gove,
:06:02. > :06:04.with a petition signed by more than 200,000 people yesterday. I'm
:06:05. > :06:07.thankful for every single pdrson who signed the petition, who supported
:06:08. > :06:13.us along the way. Ban Ki`Moon, Malala, everyone. If it wasn't for
:06:14. > :06:19.him, he would never have, you know, met us, let alone agreed to what we
:06:20. > :06:23.wanted, which is amazing. Jtst a reminder that our series on the
:06:24. > :06:26.Great War is continuing herd on Points West and on BBC local radio
:06:27. > :06:30.tomorrow. Alex Lovell will be reporting on the exploits of a pilot
:06:31. > :06:36.who was the first man to down a zeppelin. Rex Warneford's story will
:06:37. > :06:41.be on BBC Wiltshire at 8.15`m. Now for the weather with Ian. Thank you
:06:42. > :06:45.very much. Rain is spreading its way ever eastwards during the course of
:06:46. > :06:50.tonight. Some will be moder`tely heavy and fairly persistent. It
:06:51. > :06:54.should clear out of the east of our district by the rush`hour tomorrow.
:06:55. > :06:59.Temperatures down to four to six Celsius. Tomorrow will brighten up
:07:00. > :07:02.through the course of the morning. The windy story of the night will
:07:03. > :07:07.die down. We will usher in showers into the afternoon. Some of those
:07:08. > :07:11.heavy, maybe hail and lightning It will clear up into the evenhng, but
:07:12. > :07:15.only for a short period. Looming behind me comes a next systdm that
:07:16. > :07:20.will feature over night Thursday into Friday. Temperatures tomorrow
:07:21. > :07:23.eight or nine Celsius. The outlook is uncertain for Friday and
:07:24. > :07:31.Saturday. It could be rain, it could be snow, it could be strong winds.
:07:32. > :07:38.breeze blowing as well. Tricky into the weekend. And now we have the
:07:39. > :07:43.national forecast. Good evening. We know it has been a
:07:44. > :07:49.wet winter but it has also been mild and across England and Wales,
:07:50. > :07:52.lacking in snow. The last day of the season which we measure on Friday,
