:00:10. > :00:14.Good evening. Police in Gloucestershire have carried out the

:00:15. > :00:18.first ever arrests in the county for child trafficking. Four people were

:00:19. > :00:25.moving young people around to be moving young people around to be

:00:26. > :00:27.sexually exploited. The crackdown is the first major operation for a new

:00:28. > :00:33.police unit. Our Gloucestershire reporter, Steve Knibbs, was given

:00:34. > :00:38.exclusive access to the raids. Can you come down, please? No forced

:00:39. > :00:41.entry needed by police this morning. This was a major step in a tnique

:00:42. > :00:44.investigation for police in Gloucestershire as arrests were

:00:45. > :00:46.quickly made. I'm arresting you on suspicion of child traffickhng by

:00:47. > :00:50.arranging and facilitating the travel of a child within thd UK for

:00:51. > :00:53.the purpose of sexual explohtation. Also arrested here, a 22`ye`r`old

:00:54. > :00:56.man on suspicion of child trafficking, sexual or indecent

:00:57. > :01:03.assault of a child and sexu`l grooming of a child. This operation

:01:04. > :01:07.is being run by the police's child sexual exploitation unit. It was set

:01:08. > :01:10.up just last September and `t that time, they'd already identified over

:01:11. > :01:14.70 children in the county who were potentially at risk. This is their

:01:15. > :01:17.first major case and the first time that anybody in Gloucestershire has

:01:18. > :01:23.been arrested under child trafficking legislation. After

:01:24. > :01:26.today's operation police and social care teams visited the nine alleged

:01:27. > :01:29.victims in this case. They're all aged between 14 and 17 and police

:01:30. > :01:35.believe they've been trafficked between different houses in the

:01:36. > :01:38.city. Members of the public would tend to think that it's children

:01:39. > :01:42.that get trafficked in and out of the country and it could be either

:01:43. > :01:45.of those. But it could also mean people that are trafficked within

:01:46. > :01:49.the country as well. It could be as simple as a child being movdd from

:01:50. > :01:53.one area of Gloucester to another area of Gloucester with the purpose

:01:54. > :01:57.of committing a sexaul act `nd that could be classed as child

:01:58. > :02:00.trafficking. A few miles aw`y, a 19`year`old man was also arrested on

:02:01. > :02:04.suspicion of child traffickhng and child rape as well as a wom`n in her

:02:05. > :02:08.twenties on suspicion of chhld trafficking. All four are tonight

:02:09. > :02:16.still in custody as part of a major crackdown on child sexual

:02:17. > :02:19.exploitation in the county. Well, earlier I spoke with Sheila

:02:20. > :02:23.Taylor from the charity NWG which works with children and young people

:02:24. > :02:31.who are victims of exploitation I began by asking her how big a

:02:32. > :02:37.problem child trafficking is. We don't really know. That's part of

:02:38. > :02:39.the issue. We have only looked at smaller elements of it, such as

:02:40. > :02:44.group and gang associated sdxual exploitation. How wide internal

:02:45. > :02:50.trafficking of young people is, we have no idea. We always think of it

:02:51. > :02:54.as being people from another country, but as we saw in Steve s

:02:55. > :02:57.report, this is very local. Most people think people being involved

:02:58. > :03:00.in trafficking from abroad hn the more traditional sense of the word,

:03:01. > :03:03.but what we are seeing is movement, harbouring, receiving young people,

:03:04. > :03:06.facilitating the movement, `nd these are all acts of trafficking, and as

:03:07. > :03:10.we get more familiar with the legislation, we will be abld to

:03:11. > :03:12.utilise it better, and as knowledge increases we are able to spot it

:03:13. > :03:28.better. A teacher is facing a possible jail

:03:29. > :03:30.sentence after she admitted four allegations of sexual offences

:03:31. > :03:34.against a teenage schoolboy from Bristol. Kelly Burgess pleaded

:03:35. > :03:39.guilty to charges of a breach of trust with the boy who was `ged

:03:40. > :03:42.sixteen and seventeen at thd time. Our Home Affairs Corresponddnt,

:03:43. > :03:44.Steve Brodie, was in court. Drama teacher 26`year`old Kdlly

:03:45. > :03:47.Ann`Marie Burgess from Newport, arrived at court to hear thd

:03:48. > :03:53.prosecution reveal how she had betrayed her position of trtst.

:03:54. > :03:57.North Somerset magistrates were told how the offences came to light last

:03:58. > :04:00.year when the teacher and the boy, who cannot be named for leg`l

:04:01. > :04:05.reasons, went to a sexual hdalth clinic. The boy admitted having a

:04:06. > :04:08.sexual relationship with Burgess and told the clinic nurse her n`me. But

:04:09. > :04:14.when she was questioned, thd 26`year`old gave a false nale. When

:04:15. > :04:17.she was first arrested by the police, the teacher denied the

:04:18. > :04:20.offences but later when the police searched her home they discovered

:04:21. > :04:24.text messages and she changdd her mind. When detectives seized Kelly

:04:25. > :04:28.Burgess's mobile phone, thex found a text message from the boy. Ht said,

:04:29. > :04:35.got the police round, don't text back. Get your story straight.

:04:36. > :04:38.Burgess, who has since left her job, told the police she didn't think she

:04:39. > :04:42.was doing anything illegal because as far as she was concerned, he s

:04:43. > :04:44.reached the age of consent. This evening, North Somerset Council said

:04:45. > :04:49.that the school takes safegtarding issues very seriously and this was

:04:50. > :04:52.an isolated incident. The school followed the correct procedtres and

:04:53. > :04:56.has co`operated fully with the police. Granting Burgess

:04:57. > :04:59.unconditional bail, Chair of the magistrates, Jane Corke, told the

:05:00. > :05:02.teacher that because the offences clearly deserve higher sentdnces

:05:03. > :05:12.than the bench can hand out, the case would be adjourned to Bristol

:05:13. > :05:15.Crown Court for sentence. A double`decker bus has had it's

:05:16. > :05:20.roof completely ripped off `fter it drove under a bridge in Cheltenham.

:05:21. > :05:23.There were no passengers on board when the crash happened just after

:05:24. > :05:28.seven o'clock this morning, and the driver escaped uninjured. An

:05:29. > :05:31.investigation is now underw`y. A sign that sprung up besidd the

:05:32. > :05:35.Avon Gorge in Bristol mimicking the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles

:05:36. > :05:39.has gone but not before unddrgoing a rewrite. The Bristoland sign, made

:05:40. > :05:43.out of white plastic letters, appeared beside the Portway in

:05:44. > :05:47.January. The anonymous artist said he thought it would be a cool thing

:05:48. > :05:52.to do. Today though, someond changed the letters to read It's Bl`nd. And

:05:53. > :05:57.by this evening the sign had been taken down altogether by thd

:05:58. > :05:59.National Trust. The international comedy legend

:06:00. > :06:04.Barry Humphries, has been in Bristol this evening to receive a special

:06:05. > :06:07.award. Barry Humphries is known to millions for performing as his

:06:08. > :06:10.alter`ego Dame Edna Everage. But he's also a renowned actor, musical

:06:11. > :06:13.performer and artist. Tonight he's been presented with the Slapstick

:06:14. > :06:18.Festival Comedy Legend Award, after a performance in central Brhstol.

:06:19. > :06:22.You can see a full interview with Barry Humphries on the Points West

:06:23. > :06:26.Facebook page, and don't forget if you're a football fan, Late Kick Off

:06:27. > :06:33.is on BBC One tonight at 11.25. Now, let's get the weather with Han.

:06:34. > :06:42.Tomorrow, some places will see rain for the first time in many days Not

:06:43. > :06:45.much, a sprinkling in places during the morning with some cloud. It

:06:46. > :06:56.would be at breezy and placds and quite windy. Five to seven Celsius.

:06:57. > :07:01.A lot of cloud. In the mornhng, a weak cold front which will hntroduce

:07:02. > :07:07.some light showers drifting to the east. In the afternoon, thex move

:07:08. > :07:12.away and things will brightdn up. It would be a pretty breezy affair

:07:13. > :07:20.Particularly on coastal fringes 35 mph. That will take the edgd of the

:07:21. > :07:27.temperatures. In some places, 1 or 12 degrees. A mild story through mid

:07:28. > :07:28.week, some rain on the way by Thursday and it will turn mtch

:07:29. > :07:31.Thursday and it will turn much cooler. We now have the

:07:32. > :07:34.going to be Wednesday. Unsettled from there on in. More on that now

:07:35. > :07:43.with the UK forecast. A frost free night across the whole

:07:44. > :07:44.of the UK across the whole of the UK.
