:00:11. > :00:12.You can see more on all of today's Good evening.

:00:13. > :00:16.Final testing has been carrhed on the River Parrett in Somersdt as

:00:17. > :00:21.engineers prepare to begin dredging tomorrow. It's part of a 20 year

:00:22. > :00:25.plan for the Levels to try to mitigate future flooding. Andy

:00:26. > :00:29.Howard reports. For many people living here, this

:00:30. > :00:33.sight is long overdue. Seeing the dredgers in action, this

:00:34. > :00:37.is what it is all about. Thhs is what we're wanting. This is just the

:00:38. > :00:39.beginning. This is just one small part of puzzle.

:00:40. > :00:42.Tomorrow, the river bank will welcome more equipment to rdmove

:00:43. > :00:51.tonnes of sediment, but it hs costly. Over ?1 million per omile of

:00:52. > :00:54.river to be dredged. Yes, it will be expensive the first

:00:55. > :00:59.time round, but after that ht becomes less expensive. That is what

:01:00. > :01:02.provides the solution. We h`ve to do it.

:01:03. > :01:06.If, on the first day, the rhver could carry 30% more capacity, that

:01:07. > :01:08.could mean that we would have 3 % less water across the Levels and

:01:09. > :01:12.that would make an enormous difference.

:01:13. > :01:15.Locals, though pleased, say it cannot be a one`off and needs to go

:01:16. > :01:26.hand`in`hand with better land and water management in the futtre.

:01:27. > :01:29.A poll for BBC Points West shows many people worry they won't have

:01:30. > :01:33.enough money in retirement. More than a third think they'll dnd up

:01:34. > :01:35.worse off than their parents. The government's pensions minister says

:01:36. > :01:38.things will improve. Here's our political editor Paul Barltrop.

:01:39. > :01:41.We're living longer than evdr, so our pensions are vital. But many

:01:42. > :01:44.don't think they're adequatd. A poll carried out for the BBC here

:01:45. > :01:47.in the West illustrates the challenge. A thousand peopld aged

:01:48. > :01:52.between 30 and 65 were survdyed by Com Res. It found that 30% were

:01:53. > :01:56.worried about their financi`l security in retirement. The figure

:01:57. > :02:02.was higher for those in thehr 3 s and for those in lower paid jobs.

:02:03. > :02:06.It's a crucial issue for thd government.

:02:07. > :02:09.The Budget brought big changes in what people can do when thex retire.

:02:10. > :02:12.The tax rules around these pensions are a manifestation of a patronising

:02:13. > :02:16.view that pensioners cannot be trusted with their own penshon pot.

:02:17. > :02:19.I reject that. People who h`ve worked hard and saved hard `ll their

:02:20. > :02:23.lives and done the right thhng should be trusted with their own

:02:24. > :02:26.finances. The pensions minister today told the

:02:27. > :02:35.Sunday Politics West he's confident things will improve.

:02:36. > :02:38.The basic state pension will be simplified, so people will have that

:02:39. > :02:43.floor just above means testhng. So that's a minimum amount to live on.

:02:44. > :02:46.And then you choose if you want to spread the money thinly through your

:02:47. > :02:49.retirement, or spend more e`rly on. It should be your choice, not the

:02:50. > :02:51.government telling you. From Tuesday, millions of elployees

:02:52. > :02:54.will be automatically enrolled into pension schemes, so future

:02:55. > :02:58.generations should have less to fear from retirement.

:02:59. > :03:01.And throughout the week on Points West and on your BBC local radio

:03:02. > :03:05.station we'll be revealing lore of the results from our When I Get

:03:06. > :03:10.Older poll ` including lots of interesting thoughts on how old is

:03:11. > :03:17.old! What do you call old? Anythhng over

:03:18. > :03:25.the age of 30 years at the loment. No, about 60, I would say is old,

:03:26. > :03:30.when you off `` thinking about retirement. It depends how xou live

:03:31. > :03:39.your life, I know people who are 65 who go out more than I do.

:03:40. > :03:42.In rugby this afternoonm Brhstol secured a play`off place with a

:03:43. > :03:45.convincing 82 points to 28 victory over Ealing at the Memorial Stadium.

:03:46. > :03:47.The result was Bristol's record League win and their tenth

:03:48. > :03:50.successive victory. Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team has

:03:51. > :03:53.made it through to English Premier League play`off finals for the first

:03:54. > :03:57.time in three years. The Wildcats, here in training, faced Milton

:03:58. > :04:00.Keynes home and away in the quarter finals. On Saturday, they lost the

:04:01. > :04:02.first leg 3`2, but hit back tonight to win 3`1, meaning a finals place

:04:03. > :04:06.next month. It's been a really lovely Spring

:04:07. > :04:08.weekend. Let's get the weather prospects now.

:04:09. > :04:13.Good evening. Many of us were lucky enough to see a beautiful wdekend,

:04:14. > :04:16.but tonight we are seeing hdavy thundery showers developing. Some

:04:17. > :04:20.cloud is moving in at the moment then and that is ahead of the

:04:21. > :04:24.showers moving into the early hours. Lows around 11 degrees, so ` mild

:04:25. > :04:27.picture. But that does mean that we have showers from the word go

:04:28. > :04:30.tomorrow. They will be heavx and thundery and they continue to be a

:04:31. > :04:34.possibility throughout the day. Having said that, I think wd should

:04:35. > :04:37.start to see fewer showers `nd more in the way of sunshine. It will feel

:04:38. > :04:41.quite warm in the sunshine. Temperatures getting comfortably

:04:42. > :04:44.into the near or high teens. For the rest of the working week, there will

:04:45. > :04:49.be further bright spells, btt also further heavy showers and longer

:04:50. > :04:52.spells of rain. Our early updates are in BBC

:04:53. > :04:56.Breakfast from 6am tomorrow. They'll be on the Levels for the st`rt of

:04:57. > :05:09.that dredging. From the teal here, a very good night to you.

:05:10. > :05:16.The southerly winds of this weekend will maintain some warmth into next

:05:17. > :05:21.week. The air pollution index in England and Wales is set to reach

:05:22. > :05:26.the high category. In the north east it stays chilly. In the south-west,

:05:27. > :05:27.it will get progressively more unsettled. Perhaps if you
