:00:13. > :00:15.Good evening. Avon and Somerset Police has

:00:16. > :00:22.announced it's closing 27 police stations. The chief constable says

:00:23. > :00:24.he has to, because of budget cuts. The changes will affect comlunities

:00:25. > :00:28.right across the area, from Avonmouth to Minehead. But `t the

:00:29. > :00:32.same time three big police centres are to open, as Clinton Rogdrs

:00:33. > :00:36.reports. 150 years of history will come to an

:00:37. > :00:45.end when they close Williton Police Station in West Somerset. Pdople

:00:46. > :00:52.need security, it is always nice to have it close to hand. When they

:00:53. > :00:55.close the crime level will go up. It is not just rural communitids like

:00:56. > :01:00.this that will be affected. This document shows just about every

:01:01. > :01:03.corner of the force will be affected as the police try to reduce their

:01:04. > :01:06.number of buildings by a thhrd. Cities and larger towns don't escape

:01:07. > :01:10.the changes. In Bristol Brislington and Bishopsworth will lose their

:01:11. > :01:13.stations. Weaston Police St`tion will close so too Shepton M`llet,

:01:14. > :01:20.both will see police officers operating out of council buhldings.

:01:21. > :01:23.All of this comes on a day when Avon and Somerset were unveiling the 21st

:01:24. > :01:27.century face of policing, showing off this ?20 million police centre

:01:28. > :01:36.in Bridgwater when it's finhshed in the summer 600 people will work from

:01:37. > :01:43.here. Well it's newer, but hs it better for the public?

:01:44. > :01:49.Yes. We are using technologx, some of our buildings are really

:01:50. > :01:54.decrepit. Some are listed, some are just so old`fashioned we cannot we

:01:55. > :01:59.have got to move on to stop they are where people want them. That is not

:02:00. > :02:03.true. People are not using some of the buildings we have got. The

:02:04. > :02:06.public not visiting them. Three new centres like this are

:02:07. > :02:09.being built, the others are at Keynsham and Patchway. Key to them

:02:10. > :02:14.all is the new custody suitds where anyone arrested will be takdn day

:02:15. > :02:18.and night. Nine smaller custody suites dotted around the arda will

:02:19. > :02:23.close. This criminal lawyer says it will lead to police officers

:02:24. > :02:27.becoming expensive taxi drivers There is a significant risk police

:02:28. > :02:31.officers who might be paid considerable amounts of mondy for

:02:32. > :02:38.the job they undertake are simply going to be used as expensive taxi

:02:39. > :02:47.drivers. Labour MP Dawn Prilrose has called for a rethink on station

:02:48. > :02:49.closures. Swindon Town footballer Nild

:02:50. > :02:52.Ranger's been charged with criminal damage. The 23`year`old was arrested

:02:53. > :02:55.by Wiltshire Police this afternoon after a CCTV film was handed to

:02:56. > :02:57.officers. Tonight Nile Rangdr remains in custody and he'll appear

:02:58. > :03:01.at Swindon Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.

:03:02. > :03:04.Tributes have been paid to ` teenager from Bristol who dhed in

:03:05. > :03:08.the jungle in Colombia. Henry Miller's body was found abandoned by

:03:09. > :03:11.the side of the road. He'd been taking a hallucinogenic drug during

:03:12. > :03:21.a tribal ritual. Fiona Lamdhn reports. These are some of the last

:03:22. > :03:26.pictures of Henry Miller, broadcast on Colombian television. He is at a

:03:27. > :03:31.tribal ceremony deep in the rainforest, about to take a

:03:32. > :03:37.hallucinogenic drug which whll cost him his life. I am from England my

:03:38. > :03:42.name is Henry, he tells the camera. Hours later his body is found

:03:43. > :03:46.abandoned by the side of thd road. It was the second time he h`d taken

:03:47. > :03:50.the drink in just two days. The first time he felt nothing, but on

:03:51. > :04:00.Tuesday when trying it again he became seriously ill. So ill the

:04:01. > :04:03.police say two local men took him to hospital but en route Henry Miller

:04:04. > :04:07.died, the young men panicked leaving him on the side of the road. So far

:04:08. > :04:12.these men have been questioned but not arrested. Back in Bristol this

:04:13. > :04:17.is where he spent the last seven years of his education. He stayed on

:04:18. > :04:24.for six form where he studidd English, history and art A`level. He

:04:25. > :04:27.was a really nice guy. A few years below him that whenever he saw me

:04:28. > :04:32.outside of school he would come and chill out, the great role model He

:04:33. > :04:37.would try and scope of this, he wasn't very good, but he trhed to

:04:38. > :04:40.show us the ropes. He was an excellent, sensitive, lovelx young

:04:41. > :04:47.man. In Latin America this drink is very common. But it creates

:04:48. > :04:54.hallucinations more extreme than those caused by LSD, Timonen or

:04:55. > :04:59.magic mushrooms. Its use has been resident in Latin America for

:05:00. > :05:04.millennia, there are even churches built around it. The drink htself is

:05:05. > :05:11.not toxic, if it is used appropriately in a cultural setting.

:05:12. > :05:15.It has now developed a themd of making money around tourist and I am

:05:16. > :05:18.not sure the way it is used now is the way used to, and wasn't any

:05:19. > :05:21.proper care for him after hd it Henry's family who live in Bristol

:05:22. > :05:25.have described him as politd, popular with a great sense of

:05:26. > :05:32.humour. He was due to start university in five months' time

:05:33. > :05:37.The inquest has started into the death of a sailor who fell hnto the

:05:48. > :05:52.winch holding the boat faildd and it fell 29 metres from the top deck

:05:53. > :05:57.into the water below. The inquest is expected to last all week.

:05:58. > :06:01.The row over where the new Bishop of Bath and Wells should live, took a

:06:02. > :06:05.new turn today as a special team arrived in Wells, to examind the

:06:06. > :06:08.matter for themselves. The Archbishops' Council is there to

:06:09. > :06:11.decide whether the new Bishop should follow tradition and continte to
