:00:30. > :00:40.This old kitchen at Bishop Henderson Primary School

:00:41. > :00:45.A growing school, now with 420 pupils, it needed all

:00:46. > :00:53.Even if this school buys in meals from an outside supplier

:00:54. > :00:57.it'll need to convert part of this hall to a servery.

:00:58. > :01:03.That'll cost ?16,000 ` money the school doesn?t have.

:01:04. > :01:07.The only way we could do th`t, if we were to do that, would be to take it

:01:08. > :01:10.from education staffing, so losing support staff, teaching staff,

:01:11. > :01:17.This is by no means the onlx school struggling with this new idda.

:01:18. > :01:20.The reckon only about a third of primary schools in Somerset

:01:21. > :01:27.Now the county council is planning to build one big central kitchen.

:01:28. > :01:31.The question is, will it be ready in time?

:01:32. > :01:33.From September, all schools will have to provide

:01:34. > :01:38.Schools like this one in Tatnton, which have their own kitchens,

:01:39. > :01:43.The government has given all councils money to help impldment

:01:44. > :01:53.The problem is, that's about ?600,000 short of what?s nedded

:01:57. > :02:02.Because of the funding issuds, not every school will have the

:02:03. > :02:09.In those situations they will still be providing things like sandwiches,

:02:10. > :02:13.which aren?t high up enough on the nutritional value list

:02:14. > :02:21.Many schools are clearly worried that what was promised free

:02:22. > :02:29.by the government will end tp costing them money they don't have.

:02:30. > :02:32.Up to a thousand homes in the St Anne's area of Bristol are

:02:33. > :02:36.without water this evening because of a burst water mahn.

:04:11. > :04:13.Our forecast is good for the next two year as well.

:04:14. > :04:18.They've been hiring steadilx here, and are looking

:04:19. > :04:24.And that means fewer people signing on at job centres.

:04:25. > :04:26.I?ve been tracking the numbdrs of people signing on

:04:27. > :04:30.at job centres like this in Bristol and across the West Country.

:04:31. > :04:33.In fact, I?ve put together a little graph.

:04:34. > :04:37.2009, the numbers rocket up at the beginning of the recdssion,

:04:38. > :04:42.bump along through the diffhcult years ` 12, 13, 14 ` and now

:04:43. > :04:49.I?m really glad to say therd are a lot more jobs on offer for people.

:04:50. > :04:54.They need help at short nothce and long`term.

:04:55. > :04:56.Basically, things have totally flipped around.

:04:57. > :05:00.We?ve actually got more jobs on offer than we?ve got candidates.

:05:01. > :05:03.So, we?re going a bit further afield to recruit

:05:04. > :05:07.And at Marshfield, they really do mean further afield.

:05:08. > :05:09.Yes, they still draw on the Wiltshire

:05:10. > :05:12.villages and towns that surround them, but a vital ingredient in

:05:13. > :05:17.their workforce are Polish people, who are ready and willing workers.

:05:18. > :05:19.They were very positive about the opportunities.

:05:20. > :05:22.They wanted long`term, full`time work.

:05:23. > :05:25.They were prepared to put themselves out a little bit to come

:05:26. > :05:31.We interviewed a person a couple of weeks ago who sadly felt he wasn?t

:05:32. > :05:34.able to take the job becausd it interrupted with his salsa classes.

:05:35. > :05:36.Jobs like these will also bring comfort

:05:37. > :05:41.to ministers, boosting their claims that the economy is now recovering.

:05:42. > :05:44.But are there enough skilled people to fill them without

:05:45. > :05:54.South African international batsman Colin Ingram will join Somerset

:05:55. > :06:00.He'll play for the county for five weeks during July and early August.
