:00:00. > :00:00.That's all from the BBC News at Six, so it's goodbye from me

:00:00. > :00:00.Welcome to BBC Points West with Amanda Parr and David Garmston.

:00:07. > :00:13.A man is knocked off his bike and stabbed by a stranger in Swhndon.

:00:14. > :00:15.We'll have the latest on the murder inquiry.

:00:16. > :00:21.There is no motive attached to it at this time

:00:22. > :00:24.so I'm appealing to the public to come forward and assist us.

:00:25. > :00:36.He suffered multiple stab wounds, a really vicious attack.

:00:37. > :00:40.Testing drugs found at the Glastonbury Festival after

:00:41. > :00:44.the death of a young man who had a bad reaction to ketamhn.

:00:45. > :00:47.The preacher speaking out against gays.

:00:48. > :00:53.Now the police get involved as people say they're offended.

:00:54. > :00:56.Could the Banksy in Cheltenham get a repieve as the council tells

:00:57. > :01:08.The police in Swindon are pttting on extra street patrols tonhght

:01:09. > :01:11.after a man was stabbed to death as he cycled home.

:01:12. > :01:15.The body was found just before midnight last night `longside

:01:16. > :01:19.a path which runs from closd to Swindon's railway staion, under the

:01:20. > :01:24.The police say it was a viscious multiple stabbing.

:01:25. > :01:31.A coroner's van leaving the scene of the crime.

:01:32. > :01:33.Police say the murder happened sometime after 22:30PM

:01:34. > :01:41.The man stabbed across his whole body.

:01:42. > :01:50.It is a horrendous scene, the victim stood no chance. It is a multiple

:01:51. > :01:54.attack and a really difficult investigation that'll be moving

:01:55. > :01:57.forward. I'm really appealing for the public 's help. What have you

:01:58. > :01:59.heard, what have you seen. Police say there is no obvious

:02:00. > :02:02.motive for the attack. And that the attacker would have

:02:03. > :02:12.been a complete stranger, unknown, The police say the man was cycling

:02:13. > :02:17.home last night from the centre of town, this is Station Road. He

:02:18. > :02:21.entered this tunnel here whhch leads through to Rodbourne. His body was

:02:22. > :02:21.found about a hundred metres further on.

:02:22. > :02:25.The victim's body was found on a grass embankment alongside the path.

:02:26. > :02:29.Detectives say they're following a number of lines of enquirx

:02:30. > :02:39.Ella macro if you notice a change in someone they might seem to have

:02:40. > :02:44.behaved differently because they know we will be looking for them,

:02:45. > :02:45.possibly changing what they do, getting rid of clothing or other

:02:46. > :02:48.items they had with them. The path is one of a number which

:02:49. > :02:51.criss cross Swindon town centre Passing underneath

:02:52. > :03:00.the town's main railway linds. There are lots of dark spats, lots

:03:01. > :03:03.of rows where you cannot sed you have to go steady really.

:03:04. > :03:05.The police want to reassure the public and are putting

:03:06. > :03:09.They're asking those out in the evening to use well lit routes.

:03:10. > :03:17.A 26`year`old man has died after taking the drug Ketamhne

:03:18. > :03:21.Police say he suffered a severe reaction after takhng it

:03:22. > :03:24.and have ruled out the posshbility of a 'bad batch' of the drug,

:03:25. > :03:27.which is a class B substancd. Police have been reassuring people today

:03:28. > :03:39.and urging them not to experiment. Andrew Plant is there for us now.

:03:40. > :03:45.You would not believe it wotld you, just a couple of minutes ago our

:03:46. > :03:50.broadcast back to was in serious jeopardy as we had a thunderstorm

:03:51. > :03:56.passed over here. So big hit that had to power down and take the act

:03:57. > :04:01.offstage. They will put the music back on when they can. It looks like

:04:02. > :04:07.it could be getting back to normal soon. We had bad news here this

:04:08. > :04:10.morning. I was with the polhce when they told us that the 26`ye`r`old

:04:11. > :04:15.man from Reading had died. Ht was taken ill here in the early hours of

:04:16. > :04:21.yesterday after taking some cat in. For the police that presentdd a

:04:22. > :04:27.problem because it may have been from a gap `` a bad batch of the

:04:28. > :04:31.drugs. They needed to quickly rule out the possibility that th`t had

:04:32. > :04:38.happened. They could have bden other people who bought that substance and

:04:39. > :04:41.they would have been danger to. Within an hour of being rushed to

:04:42. > :04:46.hospital the drug was being analysed here. If it has been cut with other

:04:47. > :04:48.dangerous substances police need to know so they can warn other people

:04:49. > :04:50.planning to take it. We were able to analyse that Ketamin

:04:51. > :04:53.very quickly and within an hour we So we can very quickly rule out

:04:54. > :04:58.a rogue batch of cat amid going round the site and thereford put

:04:59. > :05:07.a lot of people at rest. Paul

:05:08. > :05:09.and the team recover large `mounts That's a fair bit there,

:05:10. > :05:19.that is more than personal tse. Many ticket holders will dulp drugs

:05:20. > :05:21.in here Perhaps afraid

:05:22. > :05:28.of the random searches. Those drugs are taken here

:05:29. > :05:31.and tested to find out exactly what This is ecstasy a class A drug,

:05:32. > :05:36.but they are on the watch So`called legal highs or evdn things

:05:37. > :05:42.like this, used in making food, but when coupled with a balloon

:05:43. > :05:45.as a very different If you take a walk

:05:46. > :05:52.around Glastonbury where people have been partying the night before,

:05:53. > :05:56.amongst all the crush cans and pick`ups you can find

:05:57. > :06:00.a little collection of thesd. Now these small silver canisters

:06:01. > :06:04.used to contain nitrous oxide and quite often makes

:06:05. > :06:09.the viewfinder believes people use Nitrous oxide balloons have now

:06:10. > :06:15.been banned from the festiv`l The gas inhaled over and ovdr again,

:06:16. > :06:20.this is not illegal Back at the testing centre,

:06:21. > :06:27.a team from the London Univdrsity New shapes, new symbols and new

:06:28. > :06:34.chemicals they may not have seen before. The message has to be don't

:06:35. > :06:37.take untested chemicals The pharmaceutical industry spends

:06:38. > :06:45.years and hundreds of millions of dollars safety testing m`terial,

:06:46. > :06:48.this stuff is just untested. Almost all festivalgoers will spend

:06:49. > :07:11.their entire time here without ever There were only 152 jug offdnces

:07:12. > :07:16.last year, if you divide th`t by the amount of people here it is

:07:17. > :07:22.something like 0.01%. `` drtg offences. Let's move on to the

:07:23. > :07:26.weather. It is not just in the past hour that is has been bad. Ht was

:07:27. > :07:33.very heavy last night. Thesd are some pictures we took. It bdcomes a

:07:34. > :07:37.different festival from try and dusty to very wet and everyone in

:07:38. > :07:41.their wellies and every one of very muddy indeed. We went out to ask

:07:42. > :07:44.people how they were coping with the changing conditions.

:07:45. > :07:46.Well our tent is quite rubbhsh, we have got,

:07:47. > :07:49.some of it has disintegrated down the side so it was comhng true

:07:50. > :07:54.As we are right next to the path we have this kind of flood sewn,

:07:55. > :08:04.It is not going to be too pretty I think.

:08:05. > :08:07.We have seen a lot worse th`n this and think everyone bands

:08:08. > :08:10.Having done it before, having been here during all

:08:11. > :08:13.the really really wet once xou're well prepared for a few showers

:08:14. > :08:18.When you put the tarps on, ht takes away some of the pretension,

:08:19. > :08:27.everyone has the wearing boots and comedy and a having a good time

:08:28. > :08:34.We are hearing they are hophng to get the main acts back on stage are

:08:35. > :08:38.imminent sleep. There are a lot of lightning strikes around. Wd could

:08:39. > :08:44.see it in the hills. We had to power down our own truck. The mushc should

:08:45. > :08:52.be starting and they think ht is now at capacity. Angela 35,000 tickets

:08:53. > :08:59.sold, Glastonbury after a brief hiatus should be about to rdally get

:09:00. > :09:02.going. It looks amazing we hope you're not too wet.

:09:03. > :09:04.Confusion still surrounds the future of the Cheltenham Banksy tonight.

:09:05. > :09:07.The mural was bought by a private collector and ` team

:09:08. > :09:11.But now the council has warned that cutting it

:09:12. > :09:18.Local businesses also launched a last ditch attempt to buy it back

:09:19. > :09:20.With the latest here's our Gloucestershire reporter,

:09:21. > :09:25.Private security teams are now on site to protect the new owners

:09:26. > :09:28.investment But with work carrying on, some staged a personal protest.

:09:29. > :09:37.People living here say the Banksy has enriched the area and the threat

:09:38. > :09:41.It is a piece of graffiti art and what is it it is moved off the

:09:42. > :09:45.wall? People living here say the Banksy

:09:46. > :09:54.has enriched the area and the threat The whole of the wall will be

:09:55. > :10:03.removed so there will be a big hole in the wall. Tell the counchl.

:10:04. > :10:12.Somebody did and someone told the council that if this was not done

:10:13. > :10:15.properly it would be illegal. If any bricks are taken away it wotld need

:10:16. > :10:16.consent and they would need permission before they did

:10:17. > :10:20.anything. The new owner couldn't be contacted

:10:21. > :10:22.today although if the law is broken it's

:10:23. > :10:26.a six months in jail or a m`ximum fine of ?20,000 for an artwork that

:10:27. > :10:29.he could sell for much more. Which is why he said he'll consider

:10:30. > :10:32.an offer from the local bushness community who are desperately trying

:10:33. > :10:43.to raise over a million pounds. If we lose, we lose. But wh`t if

:10:44. > :10:47.weeks succeed. This be a grdat part of Cheltenham 's history. I imagine

:10:48. > :10:52.it'll make international news so it is win`win all round.

:10:53. > :10:54.The money is yet to be raisdd the Banksy still there.

:10:55. > :10:58.Although with the owner sayhng it'll be gone by the weekend, it's a race

:10:59. > :11:03.against the clock to save the spies from defecting to the capit`l.

:11:04. > :11:08.It's the last Friday of Jund, and the start of the weekend of course.

:11:09. > :11:12.Still to come on the programme tonight:

:11:13. > :11:16.Clearing his desk in Brussels the West MEP who lost

:11:17. > :11:23.And its not all rain and mud at Glastonbury how

:11:24. > :11:32.A street preacher is claiming the police are restricting

:11:33. > :11:35.his right to free speech by asking passers by to viddo him.

:11:36. > :11:40.Avon and Somerset police sax that they have had numerous complaints

:11:41. > :11:44.about the way Michael Overd preaches his views on homsosexuality

:11:45. > :11:49.But Mr Overd says he's doing nothing wrong.

:11:50. > :11:56.And God will not tolerate shn in his presence.

:11:57. > :11:58.Depending on your views, he is either a messenger

:11:59. > :12:06.Michael Overd does admit th`t his preaching is do offend

:12:07. > :12:09.passers`by, but he says that is more an issue for them than him.

:12:10. > :12:12.I have the freedom of speech to comment preach the

:12:13. > :12:15.gospel of Jesus Christ in this high Street or any other high street

:12:16. > :12:17.But are you being hateful in doing that?

:12:18. > :12:20.I'm not, I'm not inciting anybody to persecute any particular type

:12:21. > :12:27.I'm just simply preaching the gospel and responding

:12:28. > :12:31.and to let people know what's in actually is in our nation now.

:12:32. > :12:33.This preacher does carry his own camera,

:12:34. > :12:40.Against those who confronts him for his outspoken views.

:12:41. > :12:42.Now the police are collecting videos from passers`by who have

:12:43. > :13:01.What do you say to the allegation that this isn't a breach of his

:13:02. > :13:05.I believe it is getting the right balance between free

:13:06. > :13:08.speech and the right for people to come to Taunton and not havd verbal

:13:09. > :13:11.But should you ask people to video him?

:13:12. > :13:14.We're not asking people to film him but if they choose to do so,

:13:15. > :13:16.then I'll be happy to receive the material.

:13:17. > :13:19.There is no doubt that some are insulted by his views,

:13:20. > :13:21.especially when he openly criticises gay people walking by.

:13:22. > :13:23.Traders in Taunton high strdet say he is bad for business.

:13:24. > :13:28.He has affected our business badly when he is around, we have

:13:29. > :13:31.customers here and I have h`d people get up and walk out because

:13:32. > :13:37.This former paratrooper say he will continue to continue

:13:38. > :13:42.the way he is preaching as he has done for six years.

:13:43. > :13:44.Although when it does come to popularity, maybe he could learn

:13:45. > :13:53.from those whose public performances are a little qtieter.

:13:54. > :13:56.Staff and patients at a hospice in Bristol have been celebr`ting

:13:57. > :14:01.the opening of a half a million pound extension today

:14:02. > :14:05.St Peter's Hospice has created a centre where patients can having

:14:06. > :14:08.anything from music therapy to spiritual healing.

:14:09. > :14:12.And as Imogen Sellers has bden finding out, even though

:14:13. > :14:15.the patients are very ill, there's still plenty to smile about.

:14:16. > :14:18.When you think of a hospice, some of you like me, may think of somewhere

:14:19. > :14:27.Here in the grounds of Saint Peters Hospice in Bristol

:14:28. > :14:32.you could be in the garden of a country house or a smart hotel.

:14:33. > :14:35.This tranquil space leads us to the newly built garden rooms

:14:36. > :14:41.We have been invited to takd a look around.

:14:42. > :14:48.Richard was diagnosed with hncurable lymphoma three years ago.

:14:49. > :14:52.Last December he was given just weeks to live, but six

:14:53. > :14:57.The new facilities at Saint Peters Hospice not only help

:14:58. > :15:06.My wife comes here for music therapy and meets with Jane and then I meet

:15:07. > :15:10.with a spiritual guide and the support we get is unbelhevable.

:15:11. > :15:18.The work with Sol as well, if you need any support thex will

:15:19. > :15:22.speak with him and it is not just about me and my wife.

:15:23. > :15:27.The whole family get support, which I find amazing.

:15:28. > :15:29.Richard admits that all of his preconceptions

:15:30. > :15:34.Once we came through the doors there was no turning back.

:15:35. > :15:38.People think you come to hospices is coming here to die

:15:39. > :15:43.The grant from the Department of Health for ?500,000 allowed this

:15:44. > :15:47.The new garden room will allow patients and families

:15:48. > :15:50.and their families to deal with their feelings through art, music,

:15:51. > :15:54.I think people that do not understand will always be alazed

:15:55. > :15:58.when they come here and see that it is light, it is bright and

:15:59. > :16:02.It is very peaceful and tranquil and not the dark gloomy place

:16:03. > :16:16.Clearly a musical talent in the making here.

:16:17. > :16:19.We've all taken a wrong turn at some point, but a driver in

:16:20. > :16:25.He's managed to get his lorry stuck under the railway bridge on Wootton

:16:26. > :16:28.Bassett Road, and it's fair to say it's caused a few traffic problems.

:16:29. > :16:36.A recovery operation is currently underway.

:16:37. > :16:42.The region's longest`serving MEP says he's not ruling out a return to

:16:43. > :16:44.politics after losing his sdat in last month's European eldctions.

:16:45. > :16:47.The Liberal Democrat Graham Watson has been representing the South West

:16:48. > :16:54.Our political reporter Robin Markwell went to see him say

:16:55. > :17:07.Wherever Graham Watson goes old colleagues offer their symp`thies.

:17:08. > :17:13.Oh, that's very kind but as you know it's politics.

:17:14. > :17:15.Outside the members' offices a reminder of the scale

:17:16. > :17:23.Just one out of 12 Lib Dem LEPs survived.

:17:24. > :17:33.All his good experience will be gone now that be transmitted to

:17:34. > :17:40.This is where I generally work from As you can see it is ftll

:17:41. > :17:43.of packing cases, I suppose this is one particular momento.

:17:44. > :17:47.This was my 50th birthday and I was honoured to have the presiddnt of

:17:48. > :17:53.the European Commission and the then resident of the European Parliament

:17:54. > :18:05.I take the view that you move on and you move on to new things and

:18:06. > :18:08.if you have a setback, as I've had in the polls, you pick

:18:09. > :18:14.yourself up, dust yourself off and start again as the old song says.

:18:15. > :18:16.And as one politician leaves the revolving doors of European

:18:17. > :18:21.Molly Scott Cato is the South West's first Green Euro`MP.

:18:22. > :18:27.Though navigating the maze of corridors is never easy.

:18:28. > :18:31.We are heading to the group meeting so I'll come with

:18:32. > :18:39.In the end she finds her pl`ce among the European Green group.

:18:40. > :18:43.It all seems a long way frol her other job as a councillor in Stroud.

:18:44. > :18:49.I just feel I've found a pl`ce I can make a difference And that hs

:18:50. > :18:52.exactly what I've been workhng to achieve for the past 20 years

:18:53. > :18:58.For Graham Watson, the clearout's complete A holiday's

:18:59. > :19:01.next on the agenda but he's not ruling out a return to politics

:19:02. > :19:10.And you can see more about our MEPs on our Sunday Politics West

:19:11. > :19:21.We go back to the Glastonbury Festival now and there

:19:22. > :19:26.was rain overnight of coursd, fine if you were tucked up hn bed,

:19:27. > :19:29.but hardly the perfect condhtions for the 130 000 people who were

:19:30. > :19:41.And as we heard they had a lassive thunderstorm just now too.

:19:42. > :19:44.The festival really got going today with the first acts

:19:45. > :19:52.But our reporter Fiona Lamdhn is, well,

:19:53. > :20:02.In the thick of it as she loses What the difference half an hour

:20:03. > :20:08.makes. There was a chance wd would not even be able to be up on air. I

:20:09. > :20:12.have not stripped off my co`t just yet it is not that waterproof but

:20:13. > :20:17.the Pyramid stage has just started playing music again. People are

:20:18. > :20:22.delighted. If I could show the rainbow, I'll it has disappdared but

:20:23. > :20:27.it was there a minute ago. Let me tell you, can you imagine c`mping in

:20:28. > :20:32.this. Let me show you the ground. Lots of mud. Can you imagind camping

:20:33. > :20:39.on this tonight, last night 130 000 people dead. I was one of the lucky

:20:40. > :20:40.ones who tried clamping. It is extremely expensive found ott how I

:20:41. > :20:43.got on. Up on a hillside just

:20:44. > :20:46.a miles walk from the heart of Where mud, music and mayhem

:20:47. > :20:49.seems another world away. But it comes

:20:50. > :20:53.at a surprisingly huge pricd tag. Compared to the standard

:20:54. > :21:04.ticket which costs ?210. For me this is a special occasion,

:21:05. > :21:07.it is my retirement bash. I have been working since I was 18

:21:08. > :21:11.and Glastonbury I came to about 35 years ago, I always fancied doing

:21:12. > :21:14.it again so we thought why not. We saw the Yurts advertised

:21:15. > :21:18.and thought it looked gorgeous so the budget went up a little bit

:21:19. > :21:22.on that and then we went mad and booked a chopper at the last minute

:21:23. > :21:26.to bring us in and out of hdre. For me it is the perfect wax to

:21:27. > :21:29.celebrate my retirement and give us If I'm honest, right now

:21:30. > :21:35.at the end of a long day down at the festival, I'm really enjoying the

:21:36. > :21:38.cutlery, the China and the glass. As well as the Yurts there `re

:21:39. > :21:45.dozens of luxury caravans. We have got a kitchen,

:21:46. > :21:50.a fridge for that beer and wine we have a kettle, we have a TV

:21:51. > :21:55.in here and lots of room. Most importantly our own tohlet

:21:56. > :21:57.brilliant. This is a very special thing

:21:58. > :22:00.for us in the year. We had a fantastic time last year,

:22:01. > :22:03.it was my first time. I would rather do this than

:22:04. > :22:07.a luxury holiday abroad. At the end of the day after trekking

:22:08. > :22:16.miles across the farm, you light be We get really busy

:22:17. > :22:25.when it's wet because trudghng through the mud really takes it out

:22:26. > :22:31.of your body so coming in for a nice leg and foot massage, lower

:22:32. > :22:34.back massage is utterly fantastic. It is now 2am and the party is

:22:35. > :22:41.clearly still well underway down the hill, that appear ht is

:22:42. > :23:04.almost like a relaxing hum which I I can tell you I did sleep very well

:23:05. > :23:09.last night. Coming over to this lot of people they have been up, first

:23:10. > :23:15.thing, earlier than me and they have been tried to grab a spot at the

:23:16. > :23:18.permit stage. How disappointing was it when the rain started? Wd were

:23:19. > :23:23.disappointed because we werd looking for to seeing them all day `nd

:23:24. > :23:29.halfway through it cut out. We were up at 7am ready to go and it is

:23:30. > :23:35.really sad. Let me show you this blanket, when I found them this is

:23:36. > :23:39.the saviour that they were `ll standing under. Show us what you all

:23:40. > :23:57.doing. Ali people did you gdt in here? Sing macro. Music macro. Are

:23:58. > :24:06.you cold in this? We have an airing system. I'm a bit card but H'd

:24:07. > :24:09.rather look sparkly than in this. People are desperate to get back to

:24:10. > :24:13.the music I think it is all beginning again. Thank you very

:24:14. > :24:18.much, I'm sure there's more rain but they'll definitely be some sunshine.

:24:19. > :24:23.Thank you Fiona you're really getting stuck in there. We're going

:24:24. > :24:29.to Ian with the weather now to see how it'll pan out. We can confirm

:24:30. > :24:34.that things are picking up `t Glastonbury. She did mention a

:24:35. > :24:39.rainbow. She did, proving there is a sunshine after the rain. Thhs

:24:40. > :24:43.beautiful rainbow made an appearance to put a smile on people 's faces.

:24:44. > :24:54.We thought we would share whth you. What are they say, you can't have a

:24:55. > :24:59.rainbow without the rain. Philosophy, it's more David Brent.

:25:00. > :25:03.He is right, although it was not so amusing when the lightning was

:25:04. > :25:09.coming down. It was almost ` bet that if we had any bad weather, that

:25:10. > :25:13.it would be near Glastonburx. This may be the case again on Saturday as

:25:14. > :25:17.we continue with this threat of heavy showers and thunderstorms

:25:18. > :25:21.It'll be much like today, those of you wondering what the fuss was like

:25:22. > :25:28.some of you will see giant bright weather. In the afternoon the threat

:25:29. > :25:33.will be manifest. On Sunday it'll be a better day as high pressure starts

:25:34. > :25:37.to reach an attempt is going to the high teens. The Met office will

:25:38. > :25:43.continue with warning for hdavy rain as they have done today with good

:25:44. > :25:46.reason, has to be demonstrated this. Heavy showers or thunderstorms, we

:25:47. > :25:50.have seen some hail today and lightning, all of these could be

:25:51. > :25:55.replicated in the course of tomorrow. The rainfall radar has

:25:56. > :25:58.shown how this convergence `rea across the south`west peninsula has

:25:59. > :26:07.delivered some of these heavy thunderstorms. They are movhng

:26:08. > :26:12.towards the geek near Bruton and going into Wilton. Some showers are

:26:13. > :26:15.still behind. We cannot ruld out showers for this evening. Looking at

:26:16. > :26:20.the sequence on the wider phcture you can notice how as who whll head

:26:21. > :26:24.into a dry night, tomorrow the main emphasis will be north of us as it

:26:25. > :26:31.sinks its way southwards so by the afternoon or evening the kex areas

:26:32. > :26:35.were threats will be here. H will emphasise the slow movement here. A

:26:36. > :26:40.closer look back at this evdning, you will see whether heavy showers

:26:41. > :26:46.are on the radar. The broad thrust of thing is spot`on here. A few

:26:47. > :26:52.showers but a good deal of dry weather tonight. Some mist `nd fog

:26:53. > :26:58.forming. Temperatures will settle around 10 Celsius. Tomorrow there

:26:59. > :27:02.will be a fair share of bright and sunny weather barring a shower or

:27:03. > :27:07.two. That is the window of better weather across the board. As we go

:27:08. > :27:11.into lunchtime the threat of heavy showers will materialise. You can

:27:12. > :27:14.see the ball vivid colours here The southern part of Somerset, Wiltshire

:27:15. > :27:19.and Dorset will have the problems as we go into the day. It'll slow as we

:27:20. > :27:25.go through the dry Saturday night into Sunday. Temperatures on part

:27:26. > :27:29.with today, Sunday will be ` better day. The high pressure from the

:27:30. > :27:40.North West will leave the start of next week to be the same. A bit

:27:41. > :27:45.world resting beats belch `` Glastonbury 's belch to comd. We

:27:46. > :27:48.will see on Monday have a good weekend.
