:02:45. > :02:49.In the West there are two green belts, nearly 7,000 hectares between

:02:50. > :02:54.Gloucester and Cheltenham, while ten times bigger is the Avon green belt.

:02:55. > :02:57.In reality, the green belt isn't what a lot of people imagine.

:02:58. > :03:01.Take the 66,000 hectares that surround Bristol and Bath `

:03:02. > :03:04.the majority of it is actually classified as neglected land.

:03:05. > :03:07.Here in South Gloucestershire it's crisscrossed by motorways,

:03:08. > :03:14.Its green belt status means development is only allowed in

:03:15. > :03:22.They need to decide whether the most sustainable solution for development

:03:23. > :03:27.in their area is actually a rolling back of the green belt.

:03:28. > :03:30.They could replace that green belt on the outer boundary so that the

:03:31. > :03:34.green belt is sustainable for the long term rather than just nibbling

:03:35. > :03:39.The MPs' report will be launched this week.
