:02:02. > :02:06.His punishment today, a fine of ?3185 for the damage to the door.

:02:07. > :02:09.But many have already questioned why there are no other charges regarding

:02:10. > :02:13.what seems to be an assault seen in the same video.

:02:14. > :02:17.Today the CPS told us they'd never been asked to consider a charge

:03:09. > :03:12.for smashing the window of a taxi ` when the driver refused to wait

:03:13. > :03:27.Meanwhile campaigners have expressed their concerns that there will be no

:03:28. > :03:29.criminal investigation into what appears to be a violent

:03:30. > :03:39.Police in Bath are investigating a suspected sexual assault

:03:40. > :03:43.Officers say they believe a seventeen year old girl was

:03:44. > :03:46.attacked on Swallow Street in the early hours of this morning.

:03:47. > :03:48.They're currently following several lines of inquiry

:03:49. > :03:51.and are trying to identify a man they'd like to speak to.

:03:52. > :03:59.Police are searching for two men who robbed a post office

:04:00. > :04:04.Witnesses say the men took up to ?2,000

:04:05. > :04:07.in cash after threatening staff at the sub post office with a knife and

:04:08. > :04:13.They were wearing balaclavas and made off on a motorbike

:04:14. > :04:31.What people were told to get out of the post office. `` lots of people.

:04:32. > :04:34.By all accounts they had taken the money. They got on the back of their

:04:35. > :04:37.motorbike and drove off. A former Wiltshire policeman has

:04:38. > :04:40.been found guilty of offering to sell a story to the Sun newspaper

:04:41. > :04:43.about a colleague who he claimed The jury at the Old Bailey heard how

:04:44. > :04:48.PC Darren Jennings asked the Sun for ?10,000 in exchange for what

:04:49. > :04:50.was described as scandalous He claimed that Sgt Andrews,

:04:51. > :04:53.who was captured on CCTV dragging a woman along the

:04:54. > :04:57.floor at Melksham police station, Sgt Andrews was later cleared of

:04:58. > :05:03.all charges and returned to work. Jennings was convicted

:05:04. > :05:10.of misconduct in a public office. Sales at the Farnborough Airshow

:05:11. > :05:14.have topped $100 billion ` bringing work to aerospace companies

:05:15. > :05:18.across our region. So who's won the annual sales

:05:19. > :05:22.race between Boeing and Airbus? Our business correspondent

:05:23. > :05:25.Dave Harvey's been watching It's the transatlantic competition

:05:26. > :05:31.in the skies ` every year, America's Boeing vies with Airbus,

:05:32. > :05:36.the European planemaker. Both, of course, fly on West Country

:05:37. > :05:41.aerospace technology. Landing gear, for instance,

:05:42. > :05:45.made here by Gloucester's Messier Dowty, bring both Boeing and Airbus

:05:46. > :05:51.planes safely back to earth. Here are the numbers

:05:52. > :06:00.for the Americans. Boeing sold 201 aircraft `

:06:01. > :06:02.with an estimated total value Airbus are celebrating

:06:03. > :06:09.their biggest Airshow yet today. They've sold nearly 500 planes `

:06:10. > :06:13.that's since Monday morning. No wonder they're celebrating up

:06:14. > :06:20.at Filton. Every wing on every Airbus plane

:06:21. > :06:26.is designed and engineered here. These guys were cheering the first

:06:27. > :06:30.flight of the A350 last year ` very much the poster girl of the Airbus

:06:31. > :06:33.fleet, and this week she's been But the most popular plane with

:06:34. > :06:39.the world's airlines? The everyday A320 loved

:06:40. > :06:45.by low cost carriers. If you're off on your hols soon and

:06:46. > :06:50.the plane that takes you is orange ` That's what keeps Airbus

:06:51. > :07:22.in business ` and keeps West Country Will the warmer summers day

:07:23. > :07:26.continue? We find out later. And more to come, including, we reveal

:07:27. > :07:31.the appeal of this garden shed with a difference.

:07:32. > :07:33.The government's new Environment Secretary has said

:07:34. > :07:37.the controversial cull of badgers in the west country will continue.

:07:38. > :07:44.A second season of shooting in West Somerset and West Gloucestershire is

:07:45. > :07:49.That's even though it failed to meet targets for effectiveness

:07:50. > :07:56.The Secretary of State who oversaw it was sacked

:07:57. > :08:10.Today in Parliament his successor was challenged over the policy.

:08:11. > :08:17.I have spoken to the scientific adviser on the subject. We are

:08:18. > :08:23.progressing on the programme, as the farming Minister outlined. That

:08:24. > :08:30.reply is disappointing. She has filled her first test and missed a

:08:31. > :08:32.golden opportunity to put scientific evidence back where it ought to be,

:08:33. > :08:37.at the centre of decision`making. A homeless man has been locked

:08:38. > :08:40.inside a public toilet in Bath, The public conveniences in Weston

:08:41. > :08:44.High Street were closed for good But the man was discovered trapped

:08:45. > :08:48.inside more than 24 hours later. A passer`by heard his cries

:08:49. > :08:51.for help and called police. Bath and North East Somerset Council

:08:52. > :08:55.has apologised unreservedly, as has the private firm responsible

:08:56. > :09:02.for the closures. Hoardings put up around the Banksy

:09:03. > :09:05."Spy Booth" mural in Cheltenham were The artwork has been covered up

:09:06. > :09:11.since last month, when a team of workmen moved in to begin removing

:09:12. > :09:14.it from the house it was sprayed on. Local reports say the boards were

:09:15. > :09:17.removed by people "fed up" Meanwhile,

:09:18. > :09:20.campaigners trying to buy the mural for the town met last night and say

:09:21. > :09:35.they're confident it will happen. I will certainly do my utmost to

:09:36. > :09:41.make sure it stays. All parties want it to stay. The people who can make

:09:42. > :09:46.it happen are in favour. That is important. All sides are talking to

:09:47. > :09:57.each other now and we are at negotiating terms. There has been

:09:58. > :09:59.huge progress. Cameras are catching hundreds of

:10:00. > :10:05.motorists every week breaking the speed limit, catching 1500 people

:10:06. > :10:09.since being opened last week. The project around the arm and very

:10:10. > :10:10.interchange was completed in January but only became operational on June

:10:11. > :10:14.27. The freedom

:10:15. > :10:16.of public spaces can sometimes bring out the worst in some people

:10:17. > :10:19.but it i claimed that planting flowers in a Bristol park has helped

:10:20. > :10:21.cut anti`social behaviour. People living near St Andrews Park

:10:22. > :10:39.say a project to cover it with A beautiful meadow, full of wild

:10:40. > :10:46.flowers. Bursting with colour and life. But this is in the heart of

:10:47. > :10:51.North Bristol. Saint Andrews Park. It is very quiet at the moment.

:10:52. > :10:56.Young children and mothers. But because this is in the middle of a

:10:57. > :11:05.densely populated area, it can be compact in the summer. `` it can

:11:06. > :11:10.become packed. There is a good vibe but sometimes it can be intense when

:11:11. > :11:17.people compete with sound systems and there's anti`social behaviour.

:11:18. > :11:20.That can intimidate local families. A police officer advised friends of

:11:21. > :11:31.the park to break up the area with slanting. A police community action

:11:32. > :11:50.fund provided a ?5,000 grant. `` break up the area with planting. The

:11:51. > :11:55.fund has ?200,000. Money from the proceeds of crime going back to help

:11:56. > :11:58.communities. Listening to what local residents

:11:59. > :12:03.proposed, I thought it was a great idea. We thought, let's give them

:12:04. > :12:14.the money, see what difference it makes.

:12:15. > :12:18.So, flowers planted to break up about their saviour, and

:12:19. > :12:26.irresistible riot of colour `` to break up bad behaviour.

:12:27. > :12:29.It's just under 30 miles from the coast of Cornwall to

:12:30. > :12:32.the Isles of Scilly ` but no`one's ever swum that journey before.

:12:33. > :12:35.A mum from Somerset is aiming to become the first to do it.

:12:36. > :12:38.Beth French has overcome glandular fever and ME to become an intrepid

:12:39. > :13:07.Going back a little bit, you overcame ME and say it defined you.

:13:08. > :13:15.It was a defining period in my life. The whole of my teenage years wiped

:13:16. > :13:20.out. I never got into my stride. Getting over that age, I had not yet

:13:21. > :13:27.invested in an adult persona, so I threw the script away and started

:13:28. > :13:31.again. I live with out it and don't have it now, but I know that certain

:13:32. > :13:39.behaviours could see me go back. So it still defines me.

:13:40. > :13:44.Let's talk about this swim. It must be very treacherous if nobody has

:13:45. > :13:50.ever tried it before. People have tried it, they have just

:13:51. > :13:58.not made it across! It sounds treacherous! There are

:13:59. > :14:02.people who are afraid of getting on the ferry because it is renowned for

:14:03. > :14:13.seasickness! I hope it won't be that rough! But the current, the tides,

:14:14. > :14:20.the fickle weather... But you do have the spirit of adventure, don't

:14:21. > :14:26.you? I do. As soon as I got out of my wheelchair I went around the

:14:27. > :14:29.world adventure. I lived with Buddhist monks in Thailand for a

:14:30. > :14:34.year. I lived in Fiji for six months. When I came back to

:14:35. > :14:39.England, I missed swimming in the sea very much, I had done a lot of

:14:40. > :14:44.it. Does your experience give you mental

:14:45. > :14:50.strength? Very much. Having not even been able

:14:51. > :14:53.to brush my hair. The fact that I know I got through that, when I am

:14:54. > :14:59.midway through the swim, it keeps me going. You can go further than you

:15:00. > :15:02.think. People do push themselves further

:15:03. > :15:09.and further for charity. Do you feel pressure to do it? When I was a

:15:10. > :15:14.child I had a compulsion to hit the water and keep going until I met

:15:15. > :15:20.land. I just wanted to swim. You were a fish in a previous life!

:15:21. > :15:25.Do you have support? I will. I won't see the Isles of

:15:26. > :15:31.Scilly until I reach about five miles out. An accompanying boat will

:15:32. > :15:39.specifically watch over me, radars, other boats, and sort of things.

:15:40. > :15:42.When do you go? Tuesday and Wednesday I will be

:15:43. > :15:50.swimming. Very best of luck.

:15:51. > :16:04.Investigations continue today into the murder of Gloucester

:16:05. > :16:08.hairdresser, Holly Gazard. The IPCC is looking at how Gloucester police

:16:09. > :16:17.dealt with two incidents prior to her death.

:16:18. > :16:24.A parking scheme has been changed to include longer pay and display times

:16:25. > :16:27.and more permits for local businesses but many residents remain

:16:28. > :16:31.opposed to the new restrictions. Two golfers from the West have

:16:32. > :16:34.completed their first rounds at The It was a good day for

:16:35. > :16:42.Swindon's David Howell who's playing at the tournament

:16:43. > :16:44.for the first time in five years. He went out in the first group

:16:45. > :16:47.and finished on level par. But Chris Wood, from Bristol,

:16:48. > :16:58.could only manage International cricket is a step

:16:59. > :17:04.closer to coming to Taunton after Somerset announced a new pavilion.

:17:05. > :17:08.Work will get underway in September and will bring the ground up to the

:17:09. > :17:12.standard required to host one`day international cricket. It is hoped

:17:13. > :17:18.that the facility will be fully opened by 2016.

:17:19. > :17:21.Now many people might dream of having a little hideaway in

:17:22. > :17:24.But Margaret Chapman's gone one further.

:17:25. > :17:30.Her pride and joy is a tower, big enough for eight people.

:17:31. > :17:34.But it's probably fortunate she doesn't have many neighbours.

:17:35. > :17:36.Alice Bouverie's gone to have a look.

:17:37. > :17:55.Welcome. If there is no other reason for coming here, I have the

:17:56. > :18:07.privilege of eating the first ever reporter to see this wonderful name

:18:08. > :18:17.life on earth, Marston Bigot. `` live on air. This belltower has

:18:18. > :18:22.eight in it and it is owned by Margaret Chapman. She is a very busy

:18:23. > :18:27.making sure that everything is in tune and in rhythm. Thank you for

:18:28. > :18:32.letting us come. Can you tell us about the history?

:18:33. > :18:38.It was the brainchild of my late husband. People now come from all

:18:39. > :18:45.over the world. How long has it been in your garden?

:18:46. > :18:51.20 years. How do your neighbours put up with it? It really just sounds

:18:52. > :18:56.like wind chimes. They put up with that.

:18:57. > :19:05.How special is for people to comment ring the bells?

:19:06. > :19:10.Very special. Fantastic. If somebody wanted to do this in their own back

:19:11. > :19:14.garden with any planning permission? If it is private land they can do

:19:15. > :19:19.what they like. People need permission from me to come along

:19:20. > :19:24.here, but I have regulars, at least once a week, and then the visitors

:19:25. > :19:34.apart from that. 13 years ago, the anniversary of

:19:35. > :19:42.Tom's death, so some bills will be rang, and they have just started

:19:43. > :19:57.practising. Away you go, tell ringers! `` bell.

:19:58. > :20:03.The boats are arriving ` the bunting is out ` and Bristol's waterways are

:20:04. > :20:10.The city's 43rd Harbour Festival begins tomorrow,

:20:11. > :20:22.it kicks off with a free concert in Queen Square from 6pm.

:20:23. > :20:29.This long`time resident is on the move.

:20:30. > :20:34.We are going for an inspection and refurbishment.

:20:35. > :20:38.It needs some time away from the spotlight.

:20:39. > :20:45.We need to make sure we are seaworthy, not taking on water, no

:20:46. > :20:52.rust, etc. The ships first sight of Bristol was

:20:53. > :20:58.in 1983. Two years earlier, Vivien Stan Shaw and his wife had found her

:20:59. > :21:19.rusting and forlorn. Every last fall was rusted. A

:21:20. > :21:23.terrific amount. `` every last bolt.

:21:24. > :21:26.This is usually shipped could barely This is usually shipped could barely

:22:27. > :22:30.festival ` and we caught up with one man who works on it ` and doesn't

:22:31. > :22:55.I am the captain. I also live on this Dutch barge. We brought back

:22:56. > :23:00.from Holland four years ago. This boat is quite dear to me. It was a

:23:01. > :23:07.900 mile trip for me bringing it home. Not many days go by when I do

:23:08. > :23:17.not remember that trip. Five weeks in quite bad weather. We had to

:23:18. > :23:23.choose our moments. We have lived in houses, various votes, but the one

:23:24. > :23:29.we only now, it is probably as big as we will ever need. `` various

:23:30. > :23:34.boats. It is quite peaceful, there is a fantastic view. I have been

:23:35. > :23:40.captain of the Matthew for 18 months. I enjoy the job. We went to

:23:41. > :23:48.France last year. Cornwall, Gloucester. We are getting the boat

:23:49. > :24:00.back to its former glory. My children think that every father is

:24:01. > :24:07.the captain of a ship. I think they take it completely for granted and

:24:08. > :24:12.don't appreciate me for one minute! We will have full coverage tomorrow

:24:13. > :24:17.night. Sarah Jane will be down there. We can look forward to it. A

:24:18. > :24:22.good view. Will the weather be kind? Ian is at

:24:23. > :24:43.his desk in the newsroom to tell us. It has been a complicated day.

:24:44. > :24:48.Complicated further by developments on the radar just off the south`west

:24:49. > :24:55.of England. That will be the first of some thunder that will

:24:56. > :25:03.characterise some of the weather heading through Friday into the

:25:04. > :25:08.early weekend. Some of you tonight will certainly see some lightning.

:25:09. > :25:13.Not everywhere. But once it is out of the way, another hot and sultry

:25:14. > :25:18.day tomorrow. A good deal of sunshine and dry weather. Until we

:25:19. > :25:23.get later into the evening, particularly overnight. We had a Met

:25:24. > :25:30.Office warning not long ago for heavy rain. Specifically for

:25:31. > :25:36.Somerset. And the coastal strip of North Somerset. For the period of

:25:37. > :25:42.Friday night into Saturday, particularly early Saturday, we have

:25:43. > :25:45.another Met Office warning, characterised by the threat of heavy

:25:46. > :25:52.or torrential rain and thunderstorms. Frequent lightning,

:25:53. > :25:57.hail stones, strong winds. In combination, that could all cause

:25:58. > :26:03.trouble. That warming may yet escalate further. Here is the

:26:04. > :26:08.rainfall. You can see that arc of thunderstorms moving closer. Closer

:26:09. > :26:12.than the graphics even suggest. Western Somerset could be getting

:26:13. > :26:20.heavy downpours as the night goes on. I will run the sequence to

:26:21. > :26:27.Saturday morning. The first wave out of the way by daybreak. A hot day,

:26:28. > :26:31.then, watch to the south as we run through to the early hours of

:26:32. > :26:38.Saturday. A more meaningful spell of widespread thunder and rain. The

:26:39. > :26:43.rest of this evening and tonight, some of you will see some lightning.

:26:44. > :26:49.There could be heavy rain towards the West. It will clear away towards

:26:50. > :26:53.the north by daybreak. An uncomfortably sultry night.

:26:54. > :27:05.Temperatures no less than 20 Celsius in some urban areas. Tomorrow

:27:06. > :27:13.morning, high you the levels `` UV, light or moderate breezes, and then

:27:14. > :27:18.one or two shall result in the far West side, dry weather until we get

:27:19. > :27:26.to the overnight period. Could easily be an apart with today, 20
