:00:10. > :00:12.Good evening. stories on the BBC News Channel

:00:13. > :00:15.A service has taken place in South Gloucestershire tonight to celebrate

:00:16. > :00:18.all the work carried out at Frenchay Hospital over the xears.

:00:19. > :00:20.It closed in May and most services have alre`dy

:00:21. > :00:24.Today was a chance to reflect on the extraordinary relationship

:00:25. > :00:43.For almost 100 years this vhllage has been defined by one thing, its

:00:44. > :00:53.hospital. This evening people were saying good five. Letting go of that

:00:54. > :00:58.way of life. `` goodbye. It was a sense of grief. That emptindss, that

:00:59. > :01:03.loss of life, everything ch`nged. That has helped us to come to terms

:01:04. > :01:08.with it. It has been a dailx part of life. These wards were built as a

:01:09. > :01:13.temporary measure to treat burns victims in the Second World War

:01:14. > :01:17.when it expanded massively. They are still here. But it is changhng. In

:01:18. > :01:21.the next six months behind these temporary barriers, buildings will

:01:22. > :01:26.be emptied, patients will bd transferred and we will be left with

:01:27. > :01:29.a building site. There is planning permission for 500 new homes here

:01:30. > :01:36.and a health centre. It will change the way that Frenchay looks and how

:01:37. > :01:39.it feels for local people. H cannot believe what I am seeing. I cannot

:01:40. > :01:44.believe that the place that I have known and loved and have bedn so

:01:45. > :01:50.involved in, it has been so busy and I have met so many people there I

:01:51. > :01:54.find myself wondering around and to me it is a site with 1000 f`ces of

:01:55. > :01:59.the people that I have met `nd friendships that will last for all

:02:00. > :02:03.time. It seems that everybody here has got a connection with the

:02:04. > :02:08.hospital. Former patients, fundraisers and nurses all gathered

:02:09. > :02:11.to remember. As for the futtre, the NHS said it had listened to local

:02:12. > :02:16.people about the development of this site. But Frenchay as a village

:02:17. > :02:23.needs to put itself on the lap all over again.

:02:24. > :02:25.Firefighters still working at the Averies Recycling Pl`nt

:02:26. > :02:27.in Swindon this weekend say they'll have to remain at the site

:02:28. > :02:31.1,000 tonnes of waste went tp in flames on Monday evening.

:02:32. > :02:34.Over the last few days, crews have been transporting

:02:35. > :02:37.extinguished rubbish to another site in Calne, to give them room to

:02:38. > :02:49.Athletes in the West have won 1 medals and the Commonwealth games.

:02:50. > :02:56.Five old, six silver and seven bronze from 2014. All the action was

:02:57. > :03:02.in the swimming pool. One of our swimmers has won almost a qtarter of

:03:03. > :03:08.the events. With three silvdrs and one bronze, she was already having a

:03:09. > :03:12.great Commonwealth games. At the 200 metres individual medley, it is her

:03:13. > :03:17.favourite race and gold was the only colour she really wanted. Known for

:03:18. > :03:22.her fast start, the 18`year`old was soon making waves. That continued,

:03:23. > :03:32.winning with a Commonwealth Games record and the fastest time of the

:03:33. > :03:36.year. Absolutely brilliant. I was coming into it and I had bedn

:03:37. > :03:43.working so hard and even to get a medal, the strength with thd

:03:44. > :03:47.Australians and the British... Her team`mate was hoping for a similar

:03:48. > :03:55.result in the 200 metres tax/. She just missed out on a place `t the

:03:56. > :03:57.podium. `` backstroke. I was looking to move that forward again `nd I

:03:58. > :04:02.will hopefully race again this summer. It was a world`class field

:04:03. > :04:08.out here tonight. It was always tough against the other girls. I am

:04:09. > :04:13.pleased that my partner is hn the medals. Chris Walker Hebborn,

:04:14. > :04:20.already a gold medallist from the 100 metres extra, he was looking to

:04:21. > :04:23.repeat that over 50 metres. He also came fourth. `` the 100 metres. It

:04:24. > :04:46.has taken the Alongside

:04:47. > :04:48.the 100 invited guests therd was a large number of interested onlookers

:04:49. > :05:03.keen to be a part of the spdctacle! Happy day. Now the weather. Good

:05:04. > :05:04.evening. It has been fairly fresh, lots of sunshine and we will keep

:05:05. > :06:18.that fresh feeling overnight. More lots of sunshine and we will keep

:06:19. > :06:22.For the week ahead there is warmth in the sunshine over the next few

:06:23. > :06:26.days, but not completely dry because they will be some showers and

:06:27. > :06:29.notably the coming few nights should be a bit cooler. Earlier today we

:06:30. > :06:32.saw heavy thunderstorms in the far south-east but lots of fine weather

:06:33. > :06:35.that it was wet underneath this cloud in the West of Scotland and

:06:36. > :06:38.Northern Ireland and a bit of a breeze. Wet and windy weather is

:06:39. > :06:43.moving its way south all the while. It should be largely dry over

:06:44. > :06:47.Scotland overnight and the wind will clear away from the Northern Ireland

:06:48. > :06:49.'s pushing south over Wales and the north-west of England and shall

:06:50. > :06:54.showers develop in the far south-east. Overnight lows 14, 5

:06:55. > :06:57.and 16 degrees, particularly in the southeastern corner good few degrees

:06:58. > :07:01.lower than last night but a distal humid in the extreme east. Tomorrow

:07:02. > :07:02.it is in North South
