:01:47. > :01:52.just get `` kept getting bigger all day. The people living in ndarby

:01:53. > :01:56.said it sounded like thunder. They locked out of their windows and saw

:01:57. > :02:01.the water bubbling up and breaking through the concrete. They don't

:02:02. > :02:02.know what caused the pipe to break but they do note the water won't be

:02:03. > :02:06.back on until sometime tomorrow Queueing around the corner

:03:05. > :03:07.This morning they woke up to mechanical diggers outside their

:03:08. > :03:18.Bristol water had dropped bottles on their doorstep this mornhng.

:03:19. > :03:25.We have got electricity. Ovdr the road they have no water, eldctricity

:03:26. > :03:30.or gas. We've been helping the neighbours I making a few flasks for

:03:31. > :03:34.them. And you can't even get ready to school this morning? No there's

:03:35. > :03:35.no water for me to have a shower. Several thousand homes are without

:03:36. > :03:38.water in the taps so these bowsers, huge mobile water holders,

:03:39. > :03:40.have been filled up Elsewhere they were handing out

:03:41. > :03:50.these pre`packaged six packs. People struggling away

:03:51. > :03:52.beneath the weight, many deciding to This evening told it could still be

:03:53. > :04:08.a long wait We have tried to use other parts of

:04:09. > :04:16.the network but we haven't been able to do any more than that. The

:04:17. > :04:18.reservoir tank was emptied, so that water would be going back on until

:04:19. > :04:20.we get this pipe repaired. Even once the pipe is repaired

:04:21. > :04:23.the water quality will have to be There's no guarantee that tomorrow

:04:24. > :04:36.morning anyone's taps will turn on. There is a list of one oh is water

:04:37. > :04:43.supplies are if you need ond. They're located at the Coops

:04:44. > :04:45.in Downend and Kingswood, at Morrisons in Fishponds,

:05:02. > :05:08.here repairing despite the rest of the night. If all goes a pl`n that

:05:09. > :05:13.maggot to plan the water will be back on before noon tomorrow. If you

:05:14. > :05:21.have left your taps turned on, send them off before the water comes

:05:22. > :05:24.And if you go to our Facebook page, a family

:05:25. > :05:27.from Kingswood have made a special report about how their day has been

:05:28. > :05:37.The outstanding bravery of ordinary members of the public was rdcognised

:05:38. > :05:40.today, four years after one of Britain's worst motorway cr`shes.

:05:41. > :05:44.Awards were presented to those who risked their lives to save others

:05:45. > :05:51.Our Somerset Correspondent Clinton Rogers was at the awards ceremony.

:05:52. > :05:54.There is one thing that binds these people together,

:05:55. > :05:57.being in the wrong place at the wrong time, leaving thel with

:05:58. > :06:15.Chaos, explosions, smoke, ddbris. Bibles, explosions, everythhng you

:06:16. > :06:20.can imagine in the worst cinematic experience you could picturd. The

:06:21. > :06:28.worst crash in British motorway history left seven dead and 51

:06:29. > :06:33.injured but it could be much worse. Much worse had not these people

:06:34. > :06:40.risked their own lives to hdlp others. People like Rebecca

:06:41. > :06:42.Williams, an off duty noble medic who herself was injured in the crash

:06:43. > :06:51.yet still went You crashed, you are injured, did it

:06:52. > :06:59.not occur to you to get out the way? Yes, but then I saw other

:07:00. > :07:03.people injured and my instincts were to go and help them. People were

:07:04. > :07:05.trapped and injured and cryhng about. You can't just let go and

:07:06. > :07:17.stand back and watch. Every story was a remarkabld one.

:07:18. > :07:21.Yet, as one, these people s`id they didn't think of themselves `s brave.

:07:22. > :07:26.We went being brave, we werd terrified. We did see peopld who

:07:27. > :07:32.were trapped and, what do you do? You can't turn your back on people

:07:33. > :07:35.like that. There were awards for the emergency services, too. Many said

:07:36. > :07:40.it was the toughest night of their lives. It was bound to be an

:07:41. > :07:44.emotional day. Families of the victims coming face`to`face with

:07:45. > :07:54.those who helped. A chance to say thank you, four years on.

:07:55. > :07:56.Two Somerset County Council childrens homes are to closd

:07:57. > :07:58.because of considerable concerns over safeguarding as well as poor

:07:59. > :08:03.The homes, near Bridgwater and Glastonbury, have five xoung

:08:04. > :08:08.They'll move to new accommodation in the coming weeks.

:08:09. > :08:14.The two homes are West End Close in Chedzoy and Appledore in

:08:15. > :08:20.They can each take four young people aged 13 to 17.

:08:21. > :08:23.The statement released by county hall this afternoon says

:08:24. > :08:27.it's decided to "act quickly over concerns `bout

:08:28. > :08:30.safeguarding, poor management and sub`standard care in moving towards

:08:31. > :08:35.I've found out those concerns were raised in an anonymous lettdr

:08:36. > :08:42.The council then brought in an external company to investigate.

:08:43. > :08:49.That report raised consider`ble concerns over safeguarding

:08:50. > :08:51.and the council says, "coupled with question marks over

:08:52. > :08:56.management and the level of care being provided the right decision is

:08:57. > :09:06.Somerset County Council says provisional evidence

:09:07. > :09:08.from recent Ofsted inspections of the two homes also adds to

:09:09. > :09:17.The council started consulthng the five teenagers who live

:09:18. > :09:20.at the homes, their families and the staff about the closures yesterday.

:09:21. > :09:22.The young people will be moving to new accommodation

:09:23. > :09:39.We've got lots more still to come on the programme, including an unusual

:09:40. > :09:54.The RAF serviceman who finally gets his medals.

:09:55. > :09:57.A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death

:09:58. > :10:00.by dangerous driving after a cyclist was killed

:10:01. > :10:06.The incident happened near the St Barnabas church roundabott.

:10:07. > :10:09.The man who died hasn't yet been identified but the car involved

:10:10. > :10:13.a black BMW, was recovered later and the driver arrested.

:10:14. > :10:16.Police believe there may have been other people in the car

:10:17. > :10:27.The party that has sent shockwaves through British politics has

:10:28. > :10:30.UKIP made its big breakthrotgh in recent council elections taking

:10:31. > :10:34.It's now set its sights on winning its first seats in parliament, with

:10:35. > :10:40.Paul Barltrop is at the conference in Doncaster.

:10:41. > :10:49.Paul, why is the conference being held there

:10:50. > :10:56.Is the racecourse. There is a big bunch in the room underneath where I

:10:57. > :11:00.am standing at the moment. The local MP is one Ed Miliband, leaddr of the

:11:01. > :11:05.Labour Party and it is a thdme of this conference that UKIP are gained

:11:06. > :11:09.after disgruntled Labour voters What does that mean in the West

:11:10. > :11:15.Country? We've had delegates here from a cost the whence country

:11:16. > :11:19.particularly the urban areas but the area where a lot of attention is

:11:20. > :11:20.focused, is the first of De`n which looks likely to be one of the top

:11:21. > :11:25.target at the next general dlection. Three election winners and would`be

:11:26. > :11:39.MP. Many of their supporters usdd to

:11:40. > :11:48.vote Labour. I think it's a fairly unique place. It's obviouslx an old

:11:49. > :11:50.mining area where there is ` traditional working`class area. I

:11:51. > :11:57.think it's very much that a lot of people lie feel they've been left

:11:58. > :12:00.behind with this new kind of Britain that has been established bx the

:12:01. > :12:10.three failed parties. I think people are just fed up. We've got loads of

:12:11. > :12:13.help. We have a network throughout the forest. We have plenty of

:12:14. > :12:18.candidates for next year 's elections. They bring free for

:12:19. > :12:26.people with them, that's three or leaflet distributors. The local

:12:27. > :12:28.parties also had some setbacks. A council candidate was expelled the

:12:29. > :12:34.homophobic statements then their general election candidate stood

:12:35. > :12:41.down admitting hypocrisy budding a wing farm deal. Election rules have

:12:42. > :12:45.now been tightened up. I was certain that all I nearly selected LPs and

:12:46. > :12:50.candidates will be exceptional. In fact, some of the problems we've had

:12:51. > :12:55.have been people, councillors and candidates who have come from other

:12:56. > :12:59.parties said they obviously went through their party selection

:13:00. > :13:03.process beforehand. We want to signal to the world that we are

:13:04. > :13:10.parking out tanks on the Labour Party's door. The appeal to

:13:11. > :13:17.activists was to campaign even harm harder over the next eight lonths.

:13:18. > :13:20.Before they get to the election the party is very hopeful that ht will

:13:21. > :13:28.have at least one MP in Westminster. In two weeks thme the

:13:29. > :13:34.Clacton by`election takes place They are hoping to get a candidate

:13:35. > :13:37.elected there. Replicating that success in the next general election

:13:38. > :13:42.in the West Country will be a lot harder. Whatever happens thd boats

:13:43. > :13:54.they pay gap will influence results across the West next May.

:13:55. > :13:57.EDF Energy says it remains confident Hinkley C will be built despite

:13:58. > :14:02.The Austrian environment minister has said his country will fhght

:14:03. > :14:05.plans to fix the price of energy generated at Hinkley.

:14:06. > :14:10.That's even if the EU approves the deal, as expected.

:14:11. > :14:12.The power station almost certainly won't be built

:14:13. > :14:14.unless the price is guarantded, but EDF remains confident

:14:15. > :14:26.Obviously we are counted, then. `` confident. We wait for the outcome

:14:27. > :14:33.of the boats whenever that hs. Are you confident? If you look behind

:14:34. > :14:34.us, we are making great progress and we will be ready when that final

:14:35. > :14:37.decision is made. His comments came

:14:38. > :14:39.as anti`nuclear campaigners staged their latest protest against

:14:40. > :14:41.Hinkley C this afternoon, in support of the Austrian plans to fight

:14:42. > :14:47.the deal in the European Cotrts There are not one

:14:48. > :14:50.but two top`of`the`table matches being played at Ashton Gate

:14:51. > :14:53.in the next 24 hours. Tonight, Bristol Rugby put

:14:54. > :14:57.their unbeaten record on It's first against second tonight,

:14:58. > :15:10.both these teams having won all And Bristol have recalled some of

:15:11. > :15:15.their international stars lhke David Tomorrow

:15:16. > :15:21.the rugby posts will be replaced by football ones, and this pitch will

:15:22. > :15:25.stage top of the table Bristol City It's been nearly all good ndws

:15:26. > :15:32.for City since Steve Cotterhll took He's been talking to Geoff Twentyman

:15:33. > :15:54.about his management style A great start to the season are you

:15:55. > :16:05.surprised how well they havd started? I think please rather than

:16:06. > :16:14.surprised. It's what we aim for We aim that since. When you watch them

:16:15. > :16:20.play, can you enjoy it? Yes I do enjoy it. I enjoy their company

:16:21. > :16:24.Last week had only been awax for a couple of days and I miss them. They

:16:25. > :16:28.are a fantastic bunch of lads. They enjoy their company. I don't spend

:16:29. > :16:32.too much time with them but I enjoy them. They are young and vibrant.

:16:33. > :16:37.They bring the best out of le. How far can you take this club? There's

:16:38. > :16:41.no reason why we can't get to the Premier League. When you look at the

:16:42. > :16:47.club is just across the bridge have done it, Swansea and Cardiff, if we

:16:48. > :16:51.can find an in between and have a little bit of style of play that

:16:52. > :16:55.Swansea have got and a little bit of finance to fast`track this, then who

:16:56. > :17:03.knows? How do you manage footballers? I think they whll say

:17:04. > :17:11.there is a bit of everything in there. I do have banter with them.

:17:12. > :17:17.It never get over the top. They are very respectful but I also think

:17:18. > :17:23.they know when I'm annoyed `bout something and I don't like le then,

:17:24. > :17:31.let alone them liking me. How often do that happen here? Not very often

:17:32. > :17:36.thankfully. Their spirit is fantastic, so I don't want to break

:17:37. > :17:40.that. I like it sometimes when they stand up to me especially some of

:17:41. > :17:45.the younger ones. They feel as though they should have dond

:17:46. > :17:53.something else on the pitch, if I suggest that and then we look at

:17:54. > :17:58.it... You'll accept that? Wdll we look at it and decide who is right.

:17:59. > :18:06.Rory McIlroy said .biz 's girlfriend. What is for bod year. My

:18:07. > :18:13.life. I think if you do this job properly, it's very hard during the

:18:14. > :18:17.season to step out the game mode. Thankfully, God has given md a

:18:18. > :18:21.second chance and next year, apart from a couple of breaks, I will have

:18:22. > :18:25.been doing at the 20 years. I must be doing something right. It's a

:18:26. > :18:32.great start, you are making many people happy. Hopefully we can keep

:18:33. > :18:37.going. It makes an easy lifd everybody.

:18:38. > :18:40.And tomorrow's game here is close to being a sell`out.

:18:41. > :18:45.Elsewhere Swindon could givd a debut to defender Amari Bell who's joined

:18:46. > :18:50.Bristol Rovers will be trying to make it five wins in a row

:18:51. > :18:53.when they play Southport, while Forest Green Rovers t`ckle

:18:54. > :19:00.Less than a decade since they were formed,

:19:01. > :19:02.the Bristol Flyers basketball team will play their first game

:19:03. > :19:06.Thanks to funding from Stephen Lansdown,

:19:07. > :19:09.the man behind Bristol City and Bristol Rugby, they will compete

:19:10. > :19:17.It's a proud moment for those who have been there from the st`rt.

:19:18. > :19:22.Since their 2006 launch thex've been English league champions

:19:23. > :19:29.Crowds have grown steadily `t their home at SGS College in Filton.

:19:30. > :19:32.Going professional has alwaxs been an ambition, and now financhal

:19:33. > :19:39.Some players like Bristolian Greg Streete havd been

:19:40. > :19:44.I think it's a real sense of achievement.

:19:45. > :19:47.We've worked so hard over the years to ptt

:19:48. > :19:53.For us to be moving up to the BBL is just

:19:54. > :19:56.a real recognition of our t`lent and our hard work over the whold year.

:19:57. > :19:59.It will be a step up qualitx and the Flyers have recruitdd

:20:00. > :20:03.players like American, Alif Bland, who at six`foot`nine adds hdight

:20:04. > :20:12.It's gotten better since I've been out of the BBL but

:20:13. > :20:18.It's very athletic and they're all getting stronger.

:20:19. > :20:24.We're playing against teams that are very experienced.

:20:25. > :20:28.They have good players who `re very organised on and off the cotrt.

:20:29. > :20:34.I think the expectation for us is to go there and make an imp`ct.

:20:35. > :20:36.We are looking to do that from the first year.

:20:37. > :20:40.Flyers fans include Bristol City footballer Jay Emmanuel`Tholas.

:20:41. > :20:43.And the team can now look forward to playing in front of sell`out

:20:44. > :20:52.They've come a long way in a not very long time.

:20:53. > :20:55.Better competition, so better games to watch.

:20:56. > :21:00.I think it's just been waiting to happen.

:21:01. > :21:03.It's really exciting to see them stepping up their game.

:21:04. > :21:05.In the UK participation in basketball is growing fast.

:21:06. > :21:08.And now Bristol has a professional club,

:21:09. > :21:20.the Flyers hope to attract ` new legion of players ans supporters.

:21:21. > :21:28.The Flyers backed by Bristol sport whose portfolio also includds the

:21:29. > :21:37.rugby club. It's an important weekend do you guys. Is a bhg

:21:38. > :21:41.financial commitment? Yes, ht's the first step into professional

:21:42. > :21:46.basketball. We are hugely excited. It's nearly sold out. We ard hoping

:21:47. > :21:51.Bristol community get behind them for the rest of the season. You re

:21:52. > :21:56.putting a lot of money into Bristol sport. What will be a tangible

:22:37. > :22:38.It's taken nearly 70 years but a former RAF serviceman has

:22:39. > :22:41.finally received his medals from World War Two.

:22:42. > :22:45.Bert Bullock from Newent, who has just turned 102, never did think

:22:46. > :22:48.he was entitled to an award because he didn't see front line service.

:22:49. > :22:50.But local people thought differently.

:22:51. > :22:54.Our Gloucestershire reporter, Steve Knibbs, has been to mdet him.

:22:55. > :22:59.It seems that Newent is pretty proud of its oldest resident.

:23:00. > :23:04.And when you meet Bert Bullock its easy to see why.

:23:05. > :23:08.Bert failed the medical for front line duty in the RAF so enddd up

:23:09. > :23:29.The part I played was back `t the hotel where we were doing the

:23:30. > :23:32.cooking. Of course we had a day timetable. I could track a dim bacon

:23:33. > :23:35.and all that sort of thing. Not seeing the front line,

:23:36. > :23:48.Bert came home unscathed, Went to the sawmills. This happened

:23:49. > :23:57.the first morning. I got a pension from that. ?1 a week. What

:23:58. > :23:59.happened? I got caught up in the machine.

:24:00. > :24:01.Bert felt he didn't deserve war medals and never chased it tp,

:24:02. > :24:04.but the local community thotght different and tomorrow he'll be
