:02:00. > :02:05.The police in Bristol have confirmed that the girl has travelled as far

:02:06. > :02:10.as Istanbul in Turkey ` and is attempting to travel on to Syria.

:02:11. > :02:13.Of course she may have gone purely for humanitarian reasons ` to help

:02:14. > :02:19.But given the involvement of the police both here in Bristol in

:02:20. > :02:22.London and internationally, there is the risk that the teenage ghrl may

:02:23. > :02:27.And Avon and Somerset Policd have said there are indicathons

:02:28. > :02:40.You've been speaking to the Somalis today ` what have they been saying

:02:41. > :02:45.This is a very serious issud for the Somali community in Bristol

:02:46. > :02:50.` perhaps one of the most sdrious in a decade.

:02:51. > :02:53.People are worried about thd safety of the teenage girl ` could she be

:02:54. > :02:58.But also Somali parents havd asking, was she brain washed or radhcalised

:02:59. > :03:01.` if indeed ISIS was her motive for going.

:03:02. > :03:05.Was it by a person in the Somali community in this country `

:03:06. > :03:10.Certainly a matter of deep concern for Somali's living in Bristol `

:03:32. > :03:34.It's all part of the 20 year Somerset Flood Action

:03:35. > :03:36.Plan, which was developed after last winter's unprecedented floods.

:03:37. > :03:47.Here our Somerset Correspondent Clinton Rogers.

:03:48. > :03:52.The main road through Somerset is closed for 11 weeks.

:03:53. > :03:57.Yet for once, local people are pretty happy..

:03:58. > :04:00.Because all of this signals the start of major flood prdvention

:04:01. > :04:08.work, part of a package of leasures adding up to ?10 million.

:04:09. > :04:12.This amount of work in such a short time is unprecedentdd.

:04:13. > :04:15.Somerset has attracted millhons of pounds historically, but never has

:04:16. > :04:24.They're trying to prevent a repeat of this ` the worst floods on the

:04:25. > :04:29.Thousands of acres of land underwater,

:04:30. > :04:37.The national publicity that attracted prompted the government

:04:38. > :04:49.They're raising the level of the road by six inches,

:04:50. > :04:52.they hope that'll put it above future flooding.

:04:53. > :04:54.But they're also widening the drainage channels,

:04:55. > :04:57.so that water that does fall on the moorlands behind me can flow

:04:58. > :05:07.There's no silver bullet th`t will stop all of the flooding

:05:08. > :05:12.However, a number of key schemes will alleviate parts of the county

:05:13. > :05:22.Nine months from the flooding, this man is still waiting to get

:05:23. > :05:28.Small wonder he's cautious ` though optimistic ` about the flood

:05:29. > :05:38.But they need to keep going, upgrading.

:05:39. > :05:44.They're also raising one of the roads leading to Muchelney,

:05:45. > :05:49.a community cut off for two months during the last floods.

:05:50. > :05:52.All eyes will doubtless be on Muchelney next year to sde

:05:53. > :06:18.Or if the village boat is pressed to service again.

:06:19. > :06:40.Will that be out again? As xou here, we are investigating, to do with

:06:41. > :06:47.some of this. The transport links are very welcome. We need a series

:06:48. > :06:55.of measures, that come together to make these communities safer. Some

:06:56. > :07:02.people still think you are not doing enough? We have got together with a

:07:03. > :07:14.local councils, representathves to bring this plan. You have hdlp from

:07:15. > :07:21.the local. I had the chance to talk to him. We are getting on. We cannot

:07:22. > :07:28.promise that we will not have these extreme weather conditions `gain,

:07:29. > :07:33.but we can promise the impact.. But you can plan for what may h`ppen

:07:34. > :07:44.again? Absolutely. We're looking at the transport links. Many pdople

:07:45. > :07:49.were also cut off even if they weren't direct flooded. The measures

:07:50. > :07:53.announced today are good stdp forward. We are making progress with

:07:54. > :08:04.the partners. Thank you. The centre

:08:05. > :08:06.of Bath came to a standstill today as friends and family gathered

:08:07. > :08:09.for the funeral of a young student. Around 700 people came to B`th Abbey

:08:10. > :08:13.to hear eighteen year old S`m Amin described as a dream student,

:08:14. > :08:15.who was full of charm. His body was found in the Rhver Avon

:08:16. > :08:18.in Bath earlier this month. He'd disappeared

:08:19. > :08:20.after a night out with friends. Imogen Sellers was

:08:21. > :08:24.at today's service. The family of Sam Amin,

:08:25. > :08:30.led by the cadet band, Inside hundreds of friends

:08:31. > :08:37.and family ` from all over Bath all over the world `

:08:38. > :08:45.came to remember him. His teachers spoke

:08:46. > :08:59.of a boy who was a dream to teach. Sam's father spoke in his n`tive

:09:00. > :09:04.language, calling his son bx his His closest friends describdd Sam

:09:05. > :09:30.as so popular and so cool hd could Best guy I knew. Best kid in Bath.

:09:31. > :09:42.Such a good friend. So happx. We're young, stupid, compared to him. It

:09:43. > :09:46.was great. I fell in a bog, up to my shoulder. Sam reached in and pulled

:09:47. > :09:52.me out. He didn't think abott himself.

:09:53. > :09:55.The congregation were asked to wear bright colours and light a candle

:09:56. > :09:59.for the 18`year`old, who should have been starting university thhs week.

:10:00. > :10:02.It was just over two weeks `go that Sam had gone out to say goodbye to

:10:03. > :10:14.Days later his body was found in the River Avon.

:10:15. > :10:31.Sam was one of our sons. We must honour his memory as we work

:10:32. > :10:38.together to prevent any othdr family share this sufferings. Six len have

:10:39. > :10:52.lost their lives. We must ndver reach seven. Sam's family nhckname

:10:53. > :11:09.meant cloud. That cloud has drifted. But his spirit will remain. A very

:11:10. > :11:12.warm welcome to Points West at the start of your week. We've still got

:11:13. > :11:14.plenty more to bring you, including the weather with Jemma. We've had a

:11:15. > :11:16.lovely September. Drier, brhghter and warmer than average. Will those

:11:17. > :11:23.conditions continue in October? Join me to find out.

:11:24. > :11:26.People are still counting the cost of a burst water main, which left

:11:27. > :11:28.24,000 homes without water and damaged around 20 properties.

:11:29. > :11:31.Water supplies have been restored to the homes in Kingswood near Bristol

:11:32. > :11:34.` but for those whose homes were flooded, the clean`up operation is

:11:35. > :11:42.Almost exactly four days on since the pipe burst, things are still a

:11:43. > :11:48.The water is gone, and the water supply is back on

:11:49. > :11:51.but for those whose homes wdre flooded, they're still trying to get

:11:52. > :12:01.Earlier I spoke to one lady who lives here, and she was too upset

:12:02. > :12:09.to appear on camera, but shd was keen to tell us her story.

:12:10. > :12:17.All of a sudden, they ran up to me, and told me to have a look.

:12:18. > :12:36.I phoned 999 and that's when they said they can't come down ydt.

:12:37. > :12:43.They said they were worried about a gas explosion.

:12:44. > :13:00.They were scared the water was going to come up higher.

:13:01. > :13:03.I thought we were going to die so I text my brother

:13:04. > :13:06.and I said tell mum and dad I love them in case anything happens.

:13:07. > :13:14.I wanted us to be safe but H couldn't do anything.

:13:15. > :13:26.It seemed to take ages before anyone came to rescud us

:13:27. > :13:29.That was Beverley talking to us earlier about her experiencds

:13:30. > :13:34.Over the weekend, the local MP for the area called for compensation

:13:35. > :13:41.Bristol Water today confirmdd those who had lost their supply wouldn't

:13:42. > :13:45.be compensated because the supply was back on within 48 hours, but in

:13:46. > :13:49.a statement they said they `re talks with those people whose homds were

:13:50. > :14:02.flooded, and they are offerhng them all the assistance thex can.

:14:03. > :14:04.A scandal and a defection ` hardly the headlines the

:14:05. > :14:07.Conservatives were hoping for at the start of their last party conference

:14:08. > :14:15.But there was a glimmer of good news for the Tories from the West country

:14:16. > :14:18.with a new poll suggesting the party would gain seats across Somdrset.

:14:19. > :14:20.Robin Markwell reports from the Conservative Party

:14:21. > :14:25.This had been the message the Conservatives wanted to prolote

:14:26. > :14:28.Instead, the start of this conference became the stuff of

:14:29. > :14:32.nightmares ` another MP defdcted to UKIP, and inside delegates pondered

:14:33. > :14:42.Keen to swear allegiance to his leader is this Somerset MP.

:14:43. > :14:47.He denies rumours in the prdss that he might be about to switch sides.

:14:48. > :14:51.I think Nigel Farage is a very capable of leading UKIP.

:14:52. > :14:54.He is a very charismatic politician, and he has managed to set

:14:55. > :14:59.He's also keeping the suspense going, with

:15:00. > :15:11.Today the Conservatives tridd to regain the initiative.

:15:12. > :15:17.Crowds gathered to hear the Chancellor announcing new policy.

:15:18. > :15:20.And cheery news for Conserv`tives in the West Country.

:15:21. > :15:23.A poll by Lord Ashcroft suggested the Conservatives would ste`l

:15:24. > :15:33.These places would all switch from yellow to blue.

:15:34. > :15:40.The survey was welcomed by fresh faces of the party.

:15:41. > :15:44.The coalition marriage now slipping to divorce?

:15:45. > :15:47.It's clear that what's being offered after the next general election is

:15:48. > :15:49.a very different message about how this country could be

:15:50. > :15:52.The Lib Dems are saying thex'll tax your family home,

:15:53. > :16:03.The Conservatives stand for something different.

:16:04. > :16:07.The mood music in Westminster is changing.

:16:08. > :16:10.Two parties ` once friends ` now in full`on battle mode, both knowing in

:16:11. > :16:24.A new childhood cancer treatment, which has been a big success

:16:25. > :16:26.in America, is coming to Brhstol for its UK trial.

:16:27. > :16:29.One hospital in the States said previously none of its patidnts

:16:30. > :16:31.survived when they had a relapse of the cancer neuroblastoma.

:16:32. > :16:34.With the new treatment, three quarters of them survhved

:16:35. > :16:36.In a moment we'll speak to the Bristol doctor who'll bd running

:16:37. > :16:40.First Andy Howard reports on one little girl who's benefited

:16:41. > :16:49.She's four years old and generally a happy littld soul.

:16:50. > :16:51.But the fact she's alive is a miracle.

:16:52. > :16:53.As a baby, she had cancer, called neuroblastoma.

:16:54. > :16:56.Three years ago, doctors told her parents there was nothing

:16:57. > :17:05.You can see how veined her stomach was.

:17:06. > :17:13.She was completely covered in floating tumours.

:17:14. > :17:21.We were taken to an office, told to take some pictures, make thd best

:17:22. > :17:26.I sat on my stairs and I screamed, "I'll research it on the internet

:17:27. > :17:35.And granny's laptop found a hospital in America.

:17:36. > :17:38.It was offering a trial of a new drug.

:17:39. > :17:43.Treatment would cost more than ?1 million.

:17:44. > :17:47.But it was raised entirely by charity.

:17:48. > :18:08.But getting every sick child to America for the treatment

:18:09. > :18:14.So the plan now is for the drug which is designed to teach

:18:15. > :18:24.the body to destroy cancer, to come to the UK for the first timd.

:18:25. > :18:26.Bristol Children's Hospital will run a trial,

:18:27. > :18:40.She might be struggling with drawing big circles,

:18:41. > :18:44.It's hoped this trial in Brhstol, which will be started by thd end

:18:45. > :18:55.of the year, can help many more like her.

:18:56. > :18:59.Dr Stephen Lowis is involved in the trial in Bristol. No question it's

:19:00. > :19:01.worth it and the risk should be with the families. Does more pressure

:19:02. > :19:15.need to be put on drug comp`nies to test their drugs for rare conditions

:19:16. > :19:21.` and be less profit driven? Why is it paid for by a charity? It may be

:19:22. > :19:35.effective but we just do not know at the moment. Does more presstre on me

:19:36. > :19:47.to be put on these drug companies? Yes and no. Companies have started

:19:48. > :20:01.to produce lots of new drugs. That has been a stick and carrot

:20:02. > :20:20.approach. This has benefited. Why Bristol? We are one of ten centres

:20:21. > :20:22.that do these research ideologies. Granny went on the internet and

:20:23. > :20:32.found this herself ` should the NHS inform people about possibilities

:20:33. > :20:40.elsewhere in the world? That is what I do. I encourage people to find

:20:41. > :20:58.these things. Families can do just that. Thank you. It's been confirmed

:20:59. > :21:00.that Bristol Rovers' chaplahn, Dave Jeal, will conduct the funeral of

:21:01. > :21:02.lifelong Bristol City fan M`rk Saunders. Mark, who was 54, passed

:21:03. > :21:05.away on Saturday after losing his battle with lung cancer. Back in

:21:06. > :21:08.March he was invited into the City dressing room to give a pre`match

:21:09. > :21:25.talk to the players ` inspiring them to a victory. Three years after a

:21:26. > :21:27.young ballet dancer from Bath was mugged and left for dead ` he's

:21:28. > :21:30.danced on one of the world's most famous stages. Jack Widdowson was 19

:21:31. > :21:33.when he was attacked on a nhght out in Cardiff and left with a broken

:21:34. > :21:35.neck. Our reporter Ali Vowlds was allowed exclusive access behind the

:21:36. > :21:39.scenes at London's Sadlers Wells as he made his return.

:21:40. > :21:42.Two o' clock and Jack's on stage, going through his routine.

:21:43. > :21:43.Rehearsals have begun for the charity spectacular.

:21:44. > :21:46.It's hard to believe this young man was so critically ill

:21:47. > :21:51.Jack's recovery is so compldte that he's now got a full dance contract

:21:52. > :22:00.And coming to this famous London stage means everything.

:22:01. > :22:07.To be back performing, it's inspiring.

:22:08. > :22:10.But in tonight's performancd Jack is not alone.

:22:11. > :22:13.Ballet Black is just one of the UK Dance Companies all keen to give

:22:14. > :22:17.Away from the glamour, 14`year`old Emily is being treated

:22:18. > :22:20.for her injuries at the new specialist NHS dancd clinic

:22:21. > :22:30.It's being funded by the Dance Again Foundation ` set up

:22:31. > :22:32.by Jack's parents, who discovered to their cost that there was little

:22:33. > :22:44.Back at Sadlers Wells and the nerves are building.

:22:45. > :22:48.This VIP schmoozing is important fundraising time.

:22:49. > :22:50.The long term aim of Jack's parents is to fund specialist treatlent

:22:51. > :23:08.How lucky were we? That's the motivation. He's fine, thank

:23:09. > :23:08.heavens. It's also a chance for Jack to catch

:23:09. > :23:12.up with old school friends ` and the So finally,

:23:13. > :23:23.curtain up and MC for the nhght is ex rugby man David Flatman `

:23:24. > :23:26.just one of the willing voltnteers. And so began a glorious night

:23:27. > :23:45.of dance from the UK's finest. Jack is getting into the zone `

:23:46. > :24:10.even though he's got me It has been a fantastic evening But

:24:11. > :24:11.all eyes are on the final act. Jack, the boy they never believed could

:24:12. > :24:11.dance again. Although just at the start of his

:24:12. > :24:17.professional ballet career, Jack's performance has definitely been one

:24:18. > :24:20.of the highlights of the evdning. It's a remarkable story of courage

:24:21. > :24:22.and determination ` and certainly I am very pleased. Wobbly, but it

:24:23. > :24:44.was OK! In tradable. `` Incredible. Time now

:24:45. > :25:25.for the weather. We have some cloud today. Also,

:25:26. > :25:38.patchy drizzle. Some very nhce temperatures. The seasonal `verage

:25:39. > :25:47.is 16 Celsius but today it was 0. It is going to be settled. Certainly

:25:48. > :25:54.some sunshine. Certainly, until Friday, feeling warm. For the rest

:25:55. > :26:10.of the evening, the cloned will thicken. `` cloud. Overnight, lows

:26:11. > :26:20.of ten to 13. Patchy drizzld. Tuesday is a good story. We are

:26:21. > :26:30.looking at some dry, preconditions. `` bright conditions. We max even

:26:31. > :26:41.see 21 Celsius. Tomorrow, wd will see this weak frontal systel. I

:26:42. > :26:52.would not get too concerned. It will not amount to a great deal. As the

:26:53. > :27:01.system pushes, for the remahnder of Wednesday, we are talking about a

:27:02. > :27:08.settled story. We will be sdeing these temperatures generallx holding

:27:09. > :27:24.up. By Friday afternoon, windy. Saturday, wet and windy. Th`nk you.

:27:25. > :28:03.That was freakishly good! That will be her moniker now! Goodbye.

:28:04. > :28:09.The average person moves home eight times during their life.

:28:10. > :28:12.So that's eight times we have to move the sofa.

:28:13. > :28:15.Eight times we have to redecorate.

:28:16. > :28:20.Eight times we have to locate the stopcock

:28:21. > :28:22.But there's one thing that's easy to do when you move -

:28:23. > :28:26.you can switch your TV licence online.
