:00:47. > :00:53.She is intelligent, a beautiful young lady who hs missed

:00:54. > :00:59.This is Anira Khokhar, who's acting as the family spokesperson.

:01:00. > :01:03.The father is so proactive in the life of his kids, he was

:02:40. > :02:42.So what makes a teenage girl, growing up in Bristol,

:02:43. > :02:45.want to go and fight with tdrrorists in one of the most dangerous

:02:46. > :02:49.And how was she able to plan her trip and leave,

:02:50. > :03:00.And now at the heart of the battle over Islamic State.

:03:01. > :03:03.Already the group, which is sometimes called ISIS,

:03:04. > :03:08.sometimes ISIL, sometimes IS, has taken over large parts of Syria

:03:09. > :03:16.Their aim is to create a new Islamic State, which would join large parts

:03:17. > :03:21.The group is willing to fight, to kill and to die for the cause.

:03:22. > :03:23.Western leaders describe thdm as one of the biggest threats

:03:24. > :03:26.in the world today and say they must be stopped.

:03:27. > :03:30.So what makes a girl from Bristol want to join them?

:03:31. > :03:34.These girls are what I class as the 9/11 generation, these `re the

:03:35. > :03:36.girls who have often experidnced marginalisation particularlx after

:03:37. > :03:41.9/11 and 7/7, the British mddia have often portrayed these young girls as

:03:42. > :03:44.being the enemy within and that is how a lot

:03:45. > :03:50.That increasing marginalisation with increasing political and

:03:51. > :03:54.religious narrative that is trying to frame the worldview of these men

:03:55. > :03:57.and women, it is often almost portrayed as saying, Islamic State

:03:58. > :04:00.will look after you, we are going to look

:04:01. > :04:05.Organisations like Inspire are working hard to try

:04:06. > :04:10.to stop this process of what is called radicalising young pdople,

:04:11. > :04:14.making them believe that thhs is all worth fighting and dying for.

:04:15. > :04:19.It often happens online but experts say that is not the full story.

:04:20. > :04:23.What we have found is that Luslim women themselves very much want to

:04:24. > :04:25.challenge extremism but we know with colleagues who are

:04:26. > :04:28.working in Bristol that oftdn the male community leaders try to

:04:29. > :04:36.We are aware of a male commtnity leader who acts as a represdntative

:04:37. > :04:39.for a British local mosque hn Bristol who has tried, just a few

:04:40. > :04:43.months earlier, to articulate the view that British jihadis who go and

:04:44. > :04:46.join and fight in Syria are participating in a noble catse.

:04:47. > :04:53.This is not the kind of language we need to hear

:04:54. > :04:55.from representatives of mospues or self`appointed community le`ders,

:04:56. > :04:57.this is giving mixed messagds and is incredibly unhelpful.

:04:58. > :05:01.Already questions are being asked about how a 15`year`old could just

:05:02. > :05:03.travel abroad to such a dangerous place on her own but

:05:04. > :05:07.at the moment, over the age of 2, there are no hard and fast rules

:05:08. > :05:13.However she did it and whatdver her motivation, everyone agrees

:05:14. > :05:21.that more needs to be done to stop this from happening.

:05:22. > :05:24.In other news tonight, detectives investigating

:05:25. > :05:27.the murder of Bath woman Melanie Hall have asked the Crown

:05:28. > :05:30.Prosecution Service for a ddcision on whether to charge a suspdct.

:05:31. > :05:33.A 45`year`old man was arrested at his home in the city last

:05:40. > :05:49.Her remains were found on a motorway slip road in 2009

:05:50. > :05:51.Messages recorded by local schoolchildren, encouraging

:05:52. > :05:54.people not to smoke, are now being played out through a loudspdaker at

:05:55. > :06:01.The experiment's begun outshde the main entrance of the maternhty unit

:06:02. > :06:05.where bosses say people are still lighting up, even though thd whole

:06:06. > :06:13.In sport, Forest Green Rovers have beaten high`flying Torquay

:06:38. > :06:50.A better means a settled story for the rest of the week, changd comes

:06:51. > :06:52.at the end, Friday into Sattrday, until then a settled picturd, not as

:06:53. > :06:55.much sunshine as today, somd patchy rain and drizzle, still feeling warm

:06:56. > :06:58.to the end of the week, change comes at the weekend. Overnight, plenty of

:06:59. > :07:02.cloud coverage, the lows ard 15 Celsius, a week where systel brings

:07:03. > :07:08.some patchy rain and drizzld and mist and murk ant hill fault to kick

:07:09. > :07:11.off Wednesday. Wednesday is not a bad story, not as bright and sunny

:07:12. > :07:16.as Tuesday, a little bit of drizzle here and there but the cloud will

:07:17. > :07:22.break by tomorrow afternoon, possibly even the odd 20 Celsius to

:07:23. > :07:27.take us through the afternoon. It stays at settled into Thursday,

:07:28. > :07:30.highs bucking this seasonal norm. It is rather wet and windy on Friday.

:07:31. > :07:35.Dry and crisp on Saturday. breezy through Saturday afternoon

:07:36. > :07:36.with a change in the temperature. More information on that now with

:07:37. > :07:45.Alex. Good evening. It's farewell fair

:07:46. > :07:52.weather September. A very warm month. Incredibly dry. Why so? All

:07:53. > :07:57.to do with the jet stream. Mostly to the north and the fast-moving ribbon

:07:58. > :08:01.of the air has been searing the pressures from the UK. If you are

:08:02. > :08:05.after more boisterous autumn whether, it need it to drive

:08:06. > :08:12.southwards and that's what will be happening. No-pressure conditions.

:08:13. > :08:16.-- low-pressure conditions. Not there just yet. There will be some

:08:17. > :08:19.damp weather to end September. Fronts returning to the far

:08:20. > :08:23.north-west of Scotland and to Northern Ireland too. In between, it

:08:24. > :08:26.may turn misty and murky. It will be a mild night, with temperatures in

:08:27. > :08:32.towns and cities in the teens. Not a cold start to Wednesday. A rather

:08:33. > :08:36.drab one. One or two mist and fog patches around. They will clear

:08:37. > :08:40.Across Scotland and Northern Ireland, after a grey start, the

:08:41. > :08:42.afternoon looks promising in terms of sun.
