:01:49. > :01:55.proves to the bravery of the rescue teams who worked tirelessly for two
:01:55. > :01:57.days. An investigation into what happened is ongoing. The wall of
:01:58. > :02:04.flowers left by well-wishers has grown over the weekend. One note
:02:04. > :02:07.simply reads, love you and miss you, Dad.
:02:07. > :02:11.With the investigation well under way into exactly what happened here,
:02:11. > :02:17.and how this small drift mine claimed the lives of four
:02:17. > :02:20.experienced miners, today we learnt more about the men who died. Their
:02:20. > :02:28.families released pictures of their loved ones along with their own
:02:28. > :02:31.tributes. Charles who was 62 and married for 40 years had followed
:02:31. > :02:36.his father into the minds and had worked out most of the Small mines
:02:36. > :02:40.in the area. A community man who loved his fishing and balls, he had
:02:40. > :02:50.just finished building his dream home. His family crest the
:02:50. > :02:58.
:02:58. > :03:03.dedication of the emergency David Powell, 50, is described as a
:03:03. > :03:08.proud Collier, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and true
:03:08. > :03:16.friend. He was alive and so, he brought joy and fun to everyone he
:03:16. > :03:23.met, said his family. Philip Hill, 45, had lost his mother and son in
:03:23. > :03:27.recent months. The family in particular wish to take the
:03:27. > :03:32.opportunity to sign the mind's rescue teams who worked tirelessly
:03:32. > :03:42.to bring art Philip home safely but sadly in the end, says a tribute.
:03:42. > :03:42.
:03:42. > :03:45.Garry Jenkins, 39, was described by He lived life to that bill,
:03:45. > :03:55.enjoying his caravan and was passionate about darts. His son is

:04:30. > :04:35.What is already accepted is that the men died when water broke into
:04:35. > :04:43.the mind. A drift mine, it has worked sideways into the hillside,
:04:43. > :04:48.entered through a tunnel, following the call. They were working at a.
:04:48. > :04:52.Mother of 800 feet inside. They used explosives to dislodge the
:04:52. > :04:57.rock and that is standard practice but it released a flood water that
:04:57. > :05:01.filled part of the tunnel. That was pumped out and the debris formed
:05:01. > :05:06.another obstacle. Three of their bodies were found close to each
:05:06. > :05:12.other in the area where they had been working. The 4th, on the other
:05:12. > :05:17.side the blockage. There was no roof collapse, there was no damage
:05:17. > :05:26.to the passageway, just blockages caused by timber and debris that
:05:26. > :05:29.had washed in with the water. It was like a train coming down a
:05:29. > :05:33.passage way with a four-foot wall of water in front of it, it must
:05:33. > :05:37.have been horrendous when the water entered the mind. Three miners
:05:37. > :05:42.escaped, two of them were at the exit when the water came in. One of
:05:42. > :05:49.them, the son of one of those who died. They ran to safety and they
:05:49. > :05:54.are helped in the rescue efforts. A third miner who escaped suffered
:05:54. > :05:58.serious injuries. He is being treated in hospital where he is in
:05:58. > :06:06.in an induced,. This afternoon it was announced that the inquest into
:06:06. > :06:09.the deaths is expected to be opened later this week or early next week.
:06:09. > :06:12.The whole community has been affected by what happened. A fund
:06:12. > :06:15.set up to support the families has now reached more than �50,000. Nick
:06:15. > :06:21.Palit has been in the Swansea Valley to find out how they are
:06:21. > :06:25.pulling together. A dark cloud hangs over the village
:06:25. > :06:30.today. This community was home to one of the dead miners and also
:06:30. > :06:33.looks directly onto the hillside that tops the mind. One that
:06:33. > :06:39.hillside, the police roadblock is now gone, replaced by a cordon of
:06:39. > :06:44.flowers. The weather here today echoes the mood of the valley -
:06:44. > :06:50.dark and sombre. As the hours pass, more floral tributes lined the
:06:50. > :06:55.route to the mind. Messages of support for the families, this one
:06:55. > :07:00.typical, heartbreakingly sad - the pean we are feeling reverberates
:07:00. > :07:03.throughout Wales and beyond. As the investigation into the accident
:07:03. > :07:06.continues from some involved in the rest you have been talking about
:07:07. > :07:12.the mental and physical told the operation exacted from them will
:07:12. > :07:19.stop a when they heard that the 4th person had been found, all our
:07:19. > :07:26.hearts sank. All along, it was a search and rescue mission and we

:08:00. > :08:04.support the miners' families. It has already raised �50,000.

:08:17. > :08:22.be the patron and well as of the committee in due course.

:08:31. > :08:36.earners so perhaps they will have very little of their money so it is

:08:40. > :08:44.trustees will have to determine how it will be spent. The UK government
:08:44. > :08:49.has pledged to boost the funds by 25%, paying gift Aid on all
:08:49. > :08:52.donations. Further fund-raising events are planned for the coming

:09:46. > :09:52.way in England to try and help companies in certain areas and
:09:52. > :09:56.tonight I can tell you there will be a five in Wales. In the Cardiff
:09:56. > :10:01.Central Business District, there will be his own on to financial-
:10:01. > :10:05.services, in Anglesey, energy, in ever feel, the automotive sector
:10:05. > :10:11.and in Deeside, advanced manufacturing and in the Vale of
:10:11. > :10:19.Glamorgan, it will be about aeronautical industries. The
:10:19. > :10:27.Business Minister this with me. What benefits those companies in
:10:27. > :10:31.those sectors where they receive? This is the first stage of the
:10:31. > :10:35.announcement, we're having discussions about other enterprises.

:10:53. > :10:59.together, how we can look at the training agenda and how they can
:10:59. > :11:04.stack up everything else we can do in Wales. In terms of the
:11:04. > :11:10.automotive, this has come too late, we have had news of Wales has lost
:11:10. > :11:13.out in the Jaguar plant. That has to do with enterprise zones. We had
:11:13. > :11:21.positive discussions with the company. If you look at Jaguar
:11:21. > :11:25.Rover, they are ready end the air. I'm disappointed we were not in the
:11:25. > :11:33.end game but and delighted they have come dupe the country as a
:11:33. > :11:36.whole. How close to become? I won't go into the details but it is
:11:36. > :11:40.important to look at what we are going to do with our supply chain

:12:10. > :12:13.in Port Talbot has returned a verdict of accidental death. Kevin
