:00:04. > :00:08.Welcome to Wales Today. Bogus doctor Reg Gill is jailed for

:01:12. > :01:15.Good evening. He told vulnerable women they had cancer and that he
:01:15. > :01:18.could cure them. Tonight, 77-year- old Reg Gill from Carmarthenshire
:01:18. > :01:24.is starting an eight year jail sentence after being found guilty
:01:24. > :01:28.of sexual assault and fraud. The judge described him as despicable.

:01:55. > :02:00.could treat her. Neither was true. At the time I was quite unwell so
:02:00. > :02:05.when he said I had cancer I was shocked, but he also said in the

:02:49. > :02:53.This won't be Gill's first time in prison. In 2004, he was sentenced
:02:53. > :02:55.to 12 months for selling a machine like this one - it's an IFAS, or
:02:55. > :03:01.high frequency therapy machine, and isn't licensed for medical

:03:03. > :03:09.diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer and was told the machine
:03:09. > :03:18.could cure it. Mr Gill also advised him to stop taking his morphine. He
:03:18. > :03:22.died some weeks later. Their influence was great for the simple
:03:22. > :03:31.reason he gave him help. Help is the most valuable commodity you
:03:31. > :03:39.have got when you have been given a death sentence. He was a hostage to
:03:39. > :03:46.his treatment, Stephen. As other victims of him, they are hooked,

:05:16. > :05:20.manufacturing base. I have brought the strongest delegation, world
:05:20. > :05:25.leading British companies, ever to visit South East Asia, and it is
:05:25. > :05:29.that energy that has already made Britain one of the largest foreign
:05:29. > :05:34.investment into Indonesia. It is our great businesses that will
:05:34. > :05:37.generate the economic dynamism that we need. The A330 is an immensely
:05:37. > :05:40.popular aircraft. Airbus produces eight sets of wings for the plane
:05:40. > :05:43.each month at the Broughton plant. This Garuda order only amounts to
:05:43. > :05:49.around ond and a half months' work, but industry experts believe it's
:05:49. > :05:53.still important for the well-being of the company. Although it is an
:05:53. > :05:58.older design a craft, it is very efficient and everybody is aware of
:05:58. > :06:02.things like the new aircraft which always makes the news. But it is
:06:03. > :06:06.important that the bread-and-butter sales of the other designs continue
:06:06. > :06:11.as well. It is important for the whole company to make sure that
:06:11. > :06:15.they get sales, particularly in the Far East area where they are trying
:06:15. > :06:19.to break into that market. At the other end of Wales, this site in
:06:19. > :06:22.Port Talbot is under discussion in another trade mission to Asia.
:06:22. > :06:27.First Minister Carwyn Jones is in India for three days and will meet
:06:27. > :06:30.the owners of Tata Steel on Friday. They're likely to discuss the
:06:30. > :06:36.potential for a new drift mine here that would supply coal for their
:06:36. > :06:39.blast furnaces - a development which could create hundreds of jobs.
:06:39. > :06:44.A private care home has been forced to close after a court ruled its
:06:44. > :06:46.residents could be at risk. Hafan Tywi in Ferryside was shut down
:06:46. > :06:48.last Thursday after the intervention of the Welsh
:06:48. > :06:51.Government, on the advice of the Care and Social Services
:06:51. > :06:54.Inspectorate Wales. The inspectorate's regional director
:06:54. > :06:58.says the home's urgent closure was triggered by concerns over its
:06:58. > :07:00.financial viability. Cardiff Council has been criticised
:07:01. > :07:05.for the way it handled a controversial planning application
:07:05. > :07:07.for an energy from waste power station. The Public Services
:07:07. > :07:10.Ombudsman ruled that the council should have made sure the
:07:10. > :07:14.application was publicised to people living in high rise flats
:07:14. > :07:21.overlooking the site. But it found that the error wouldn't have
:07:21. > :07:23.affected the final outcome of the planning application.
:07:23. > :07:25.Plaid Cymru have launched their local election manifesto, arguing
:07:25. > :07:30.that strong and sustainable communities are a step towards
:07:30. > :07:32.independence. The party say their councillors would campaign to
:07:32. > :07:37.protect public services from spending cuts and boost the economy
:07:37. > :07:40.by ensuring councils buy local goods. But they argue the election
:07:40. > :07:43.on May 3rd shouldn't be seen as a referendum on their new leader,
:07:43. > :07:52.Leanne Wood. From Ammanford, our Political Editor Betsan Powys
:07:52. > :07:56.reports. Don't rely on reckless UK
:07:56. > :08:01.government. Don't expect too much from a do-nothing Labour government
:08:01. > :08:05.in Cardiff. In a factory that has grown from small beginnings, the
:08:05. > :08:15.Plaid Cymru message relied on the party that puts Welsh Communities
:08:15. > :08:21.First. But when it comes to predictions, they are critical.
:08:21. > :08:24.Holding their ground will be challenging enough. We have put
:08:24. > :08:28.together an alternative programme. We want to help stimulate
:08:28. > :08:32.communities and build from the grassroots up. We hope people will
:08:32. > :08:36.like that message and join us in wanting to do that. We are not
:08:36. > :08:40.under any illusion that we are going to get help from outside. If
:08:40. > :08:45.we're going to have a successful communities, we are going to have
:08:45. > :08:49.to build those communities ourselves. On offer, a pledge to
:08:49. > :08:53.make sure councils by local goods. They will boost the economy by
:08:54. > :08:58.providing paid apprenticeships and training schemes. They also say
:08:58. > :09:01.their councillors would campaign to save local services. It is barely a
:09:02. > :09:06.month since Plaid Cymru elected their new leader but Leanne Wood is
:09:06. > :09:11.getting an early taste of campaigning and facing an early
:09:11. > :09:17.test of the sort of message that won her the leadership. Her
:09:17. > :09:20.supporters say her strength is on the streets, persuading people that
:09:20. > :09:27.Conservative and Liberal Democrat austerity cuts are not the only way,
:09:27. > :09:31.and that in Wales, Labour is not the sole alternative. We have got a
:09:31. > :09:35.fresh new leader, stacks of new members in the party, and we'll
:09:35. > :09:40.have the alternative in Wales to the stale London-based parties who
:09:40. > :09:43.were not interested in Wales. senior figures talking terms of
:09:43. > :09:52.longer term successful the party but they know that what they
:09:52. > :09:55.achieve in three weeks' time will be seen as a sign of things to come.
:09:55. > :09:57.There's a suggestion tonight that Russia's state nuclear company
:09:57. > :10:01.wants to become involved in building a new nuclear power
:10:01. > :10:03.station at Wylfa on Anglesey. It's thought that Rosatom, which was
:10:03. > :10:06.responsible for building the Chernobyl plant, turned its
:10:06. > :10:09.attentions to the UK when the German firms, E.on and RWE, pulled
:10:09. > :10:12.out of their Horizon project two weeks ago. They were planning to
:10:12. > :10:15.develop new reactors in North Wales and at Oldbury on the River Severn.
:10:15. > :10:20.Joining me now is Malcolm Grimston, a nuclear expert from the Chatham
:10:20. > :10:25.House think tank. So what do we know about Rosatom? It was formed
:10:25. > :10:30.as a state-owned company as recently as 2007 from the old
:10:30. > :10:34.energy ministry. It is responsible for nuclear energy in Russia.
:10:34. > :10:39.Therefore, it is responsible for what is the largest exporting
:10:39. > :10:44.nuclear business in the world at present. A lot of their more modern
:10:44. > :10:48.design have been exported to a number of countries, particularly
:10:48. > :10:55.in central and eastern Europe. This is their first venture into Western
:10:55. > :11:00.Europe. Why would they be keen on a site like Wylfa? They have a very
:11:00. > :11:03.deep pockets. The United Kingdom desperately needs to build power
:11:03. > :11:06.stations of some description and the way the new market reforms are
:11:06. > :11:10.set up, there is a reasonable prospect that anyone investing in
:11:10. > :11:15.the UK would make a reasonable return in the long term. Since
:11:15. > :11:18.Russia is one of the countries that has capital and is looking to make
:11:18. > :11:22.long-term investment, nuclear energy makes quite a lot of sense
:11:22. > :11:29.from that point of view. And this was the company buying the
:11:29. > :11:36.Chernobyl plant. They have not touched that technology for nearly
:11:36. > :11:39.30 years now. The technology they are exporting is much closer in
:11:39. > :11:44.concept to what we call the pressurised water reactor, which is
:11:44. > :11:48.the plans for the United Kingdom. But there are to go to criticise
:11:48. > :11:52.the British government has issued a broad licence for. If the Russian
:11:52. > :11:57.design were to come onto the market place, the regulators in the UK
:11:57. > :12:01.would want to take a long, hard look at it, and this would take a
:12:01. > :12:05.considerable period of time. Even if this does come to something,
:12:05. > :12:10.there would be quite a long delay on with the plans would have

:12:13. > :12:17.reactor will be able to reach the safety standards required in this
:12:17. > :12:19.country. Still to come in the programme:
:12:19. > :12:23.After a disappointing losing streak, the Swans are looking to turn
:12:23. > :12:26.things around tonight with a key match against QPR.
:12:26. > :12:36.And making music from the Menai Suspension Bridge as it's turned

:12:48. > :12:50.$WHITE The Wales and Sheffield United footballer, Ched Evans, has
:12:50. > :12:54.gone on trial with another professional player, accused of

:13:57. > :14:01.to stay at a hotel. They headed for Room 14. That is where the
:14:01. > :14:04.prosecution say the rape took place. Mr Evans' brother was seen looking
:14:04. > :14:07.through the window from outside. A second man tried to film what was

:14:12. > :14:15.there. Their alleged victim had literally stumbled across their
:14:16. > :14:18.path. Ched Evans has 22 caps for Wales. He's scored more than 30
:14:18. > :14:21.goals for Sheffield United this season. The court heard that he
:14:21. > :14:24.left the hotel through the fire escape after having intercourse so

:14:28. > :14:32.told an employee, "You know that girl I was with? Keep and eye on
