:00:40. > :00:48.Police had with her and her fixture. A judge tells the FAW to

:00:48. > :00:51.allow them back into the Welsh League. It means a lot. For over 100

:00:51. > :00:53.years, this club has touched the lives of many people. Hopefully it

:00:53. > :00:56.will carry on for another hundred years.

:01:25. > :01:30.one is worthy of the biggest prize of the festival.

:01:30. > :01:34.Good evening. The police watchdog has said it will investigate the

:01:34. > :01:37.contact Gwent police had with an estranged coupled at the centre of a

:01:37. > :01:40.double shooting in Newport. The 46-year old woman who died has been

:01:40. > :01:47.named by police as Caroline Parry. A 49-year-old man remains in a

:01:48. > :01:52.critical condition in hospital. Armed police were called to sea

:01:53. > :01:56.breeze Avenue in the city yesterday morning.

:01:56. > :02:00.Leaving no stone unturned, police officers returned to sea breeze

:02:00. > :02:05.Avenue this morning to examine the scene of yesterday 's double

:02:05. > :02:09.shooting. Officers were initially called after reports of gunshots

:02:09. > :02:15.being heard. 46-year-old Caroline Parry died as a result of her

:02:15. > :02:19.injuries. A 49-year-old man remains in a critical but stable condition

:02:19. > :02:24.in hospital. Today, the police confirmed both had previously been

:02:24. > :02:29.in a relationship. It is believed to estranged couple had been living on

:02:30. > :02:38.the outskirts of, Brian. I spent the day here and local residents have

:02:38. > :02:47.spoken of their shock and sadness. -- Cwmbran. I am sad for the

:02:47. > :02:55.community. Today, I've picked up the shark and the upset -- shock and the

:02:55. > :03:00.upset. You don't expect it. It's something that happens everywhere

:03:00. > :03:06.else, not on your doorstep. It is quite a close community and I think

:03:06. > :03:09.everyone will be shocked by this. neighbour also heard the couple

:03:09. > :03:12.having a heated exchange on their doorstep a month ago and she hadn't

:03:12. > :03:17.seen the woman since. It is understood Caroline Parry had moved

:03:17. > :03:21.out of the home and was living in Newport. In the meantime, the

:03:21. > :03:24.Independent police complaints commission has said it will

:03:24. > :03:27.investigate the contact Gwent police had with a couple. The matter was

:03:27. > :03:34.referred to them after it emerged that police were aware of their

:03:34. > :03:42.relationship problems. The IPC see is independent from the police

:03:42. > :03:46.service. -- IPCC. They will gather evidence and may ask for witnesses

:03:46. > :03:50.to come forward. They will interview police officers and people involved

:03:50. > :03:53.in the incident. They will form their own conclusions as to what

:03:53. > :03:59.happened and whether that was the correct police performance in that

:03:59. > :04:03.case. They have said the police investigation into what happen here

:04:03. > :04:06.will take priority. Meanwhile, Gwent police are urging anyone with

:04:06. > :04:09.information to get in touch. Police have been given more time to

:04:09. > :04:12.question four people arrested on suspicion of murder, following the

:04:12. > :04:15.death of a cyclist in Pontypool. 63-year-old John Reeder, who trained

:04:15. > :04:23.horses, suffered head injuries after falling off his bike. Police are

:04:23. > :04:26.questioning three men aged 18, 19 and 23, and a 19-year-old woman.

:04:26. > :04:30.An investigation has been launched into the sudden death of a woman

:04:30. > :04:34.whose body was found at a house in Cwmbach, Aberdare this morning.

:04:34. > :04:40.Police say carbon monoxide is a possible cause of death. The family

:04:40. > :04:44.of the woman has been informed. Concerns have been raised that two

:04:44. > :04:50.care homes are to close in less than a month - with residents being given

:04:50. > :04:57.28 days to move. Woodfold care home in Rhos on Sea and Tan-dderwen in

:04:58. > :05:00.Colwyn Bay will shut next month. Relatives say they were only told on

:05:01. > :05:06.Monday. The company running the homes has been in administration for

:05:06. > :05:09.some time. A spokesperson said it wasn't possible to secure a buyer

:05:09. > :05:19.and they will work with residents and their families to help find

:05:19. > :05:19.

:05:20. > :05:22.alternative homes. An Internet safety expert from

:05:22. > :05:32.Wrexham has said this controversial website could have been closed down

:05:32. > :05:32.

:05:32. > :05:35.in May if his had been followed. Ask.fm has been implicated in a

:05:35. > :05:38.number of teenager suicides with claims it's a centre for so-called

:05:38. > :05:41.cyber bullying. Charles Conway says the site is hosted by the internet

:05:41. > :05:44.giant Amazon but it has refused to act. Here's Roger Pinney.

:05:44. > :05:48.Social media gets everywhere, and young people can't or won't live

:05:48. > :05:54.without it. It's a great way to communicate but increasingly, it

:05:54. > :06:00.seems, it has become a vehicle for bullying. It is girls being mean to

:06:00. > :06:05.each other. They bring up things online. Not much can be done.

:06:05. > :06:09.aware there are a lot of cases where people are being bullied. More

:06:09. > :06:13.awareness is being raised now. Concerns about the impact of social

:06:13. > :06:19.media and its use by so-called cyber bullies are nothing new. Now, it is

:06:19. > :06:23.a site called ask which is under fire after the tragic death of this

:06:23. > :06:28.woman. She was found hanged last Friday. Her family said they found

:06:28. > :06:38.bullying messages on her page, some ageing herself to kill herself. In

:06:38. > :06:39.

:06:39. > :06:45.Wrexham, this man said he found nearly 60,000 offensive comments.

:06:45. > :06:50.Three months ago, he asked Amazon to act. I wrote to Amazon and said your

:06:50. > :06:56.policy says that your web hosting users cannot host websites that

:06:56. > :07:01.contain illegal and harmful content. Here are half a dozen examples of

:07:01. > :07:08.content being harmful on this website, and therefore on your web

:07:08. > :07:13.service. Can you please do something about this? What can you do? More

:07:13. > :07:19.acceptable use policy says you can shut them down. Will you do it? They

:07:19. > :07:25.wrote back to me and said you need to talk to ask. What is ask? It's a

:07:25. > :07:29.question and answer site. Anyone can ask a question of a user. Crucially,

:07:29. > :07:35.it can be done anonymously. Why don't victims of abuse and bullying

:07:35. > :07:38.simply do what the Prime Minister suggests and logout? With due

:07:38. > :07:42.respect to Mr Cameron, that is a naive point of view. It is the point

:07:42. > :07:45.of view of the parent as opposed to the point of view of a young

:07:45. > :07:50.person. Young people do not differentiate between what is real

:07:50. > :07:56.life and what is the Internet. Right now, the Internet is real life to

:07:56. > :08:03.young people. It is big on it -- big business as well. Several major

:08:03. > :08:13.plans -- brands have said they are to stop advertising on the site.

:08:13. > :08:18.

:08:19. > :08:26.Calls for tighter regulation are Tonight, Nigel and Philip England

:08:26. > :08:36.said they had jeopardised... Natural resource as well as have refused to

:08:36. > :08:38.

:08:38. > :08:43.comment on how much the unsuccessful prosecution has cost the taxpayer.

:08:43. > :08:46.Had 4/05 o'clock, the brothers emerged victorious. The three-year

:08:46. > :08:49.ordeal which had threatened their livelihood and the jobs of their

:08:49. > :08:53.workers was over. The jury had believed that they and their

:08:53. > :08:57.companies had not illegally dumped rubbish from their waste management

:08:57. > :09:03.company and of this field near Cowbridge. I didn't realise how

:09:03. > :09:10.difficult it was to prove your insistence. -- innocence. It's very

:09:10. > :09:13.difficult. It's a lot of money. Nearly 200 jobs have been at risk

:09:13. > :09:19.for something we knew we were innocent for. Tremendous relief.

:09:19. > :09:24.It's been hanging over us for three years and a couple of months.

:09:24. > :09:27.here: That's natural resource as Wales believe 25,000 tonnes of waste

:09:27. > :09:34.had been buried illegally. They argued that waste from Nigel

:09:34. > :09:41.England's company was under an area known as 40 acre field. They claimed

:09:41. > :09:44.they did it to avoid 3 million on disposal fees. The jury disagreed.

:09:44. > :09:49.We have a statutory duty to look into these issues and take forward a

:09:49. > :09:55.prosecution if we feel the evidence is there. How much has this cost the

:09:55. > :10:01.taxpayer? I'm not at liberty to give you the figures. This has cost us

:10:02. > :10:09.400,000 to defend ourselves. At no time were the agencies willing to

:10:09. > :10:13.sit down and listen. They went headstrong into this case. Nigel

:10:13. > :10:17.England had always maintained his innocence. He said they had permits

:10:17. > :10:23.to bury inert material and rubble from the scheme to level off the

:10:23. > :10:28.field to enable them to grow crops. They say there are 20,000 tonnes of

:10:28. > :10:32.waste material in here. That is an allegation you refute?

:10:32. > :10:36.Categorically, yes. It will be proved. The jury took a day and a

:10:36. > :10:40.half to which they're not guilty verdicts on 11 of the 12 charges of

:10:40. > :10:44.illegal dumping of waste. The prosecution now have 14 days to

:10:44. > :10:49.decide whether to pursue the outstanding charge but this

:10:49. > :10:59.unsuccessful prosecution has already resulted in natural resources Wales

:10:59. > :11:05.

:11:05. > :11:11.having a hefty legal bill. Barry town was withdrawn from the

:11:11. > :11:21.lead in May. The club reapplied for membership and was refused by the FA

:11:21. > :11:34.

:11:34. > :11:37.W Council. Today, junk food they had acted unlawfully.

:11:37. > :11:47.A football club, once the most powerful in Welsh domestic football,

:11:47. > :11:52.

:11:52. > :11:57.has won its high court battle to playing. I don't believe this

:11:57. > :12:03.belonged in court. We felt it was a necessary step that we had to take.

:12:03. > :12:06.Barry town was one of Wales 's most decorated clubs. Seven times Welsh

:12:06. > :12:09.premier champions. But their owner withdrew them from the league after

:12:09. > :12:12.disputes with fans. Supporters had been running the club for the past

:12:12. > :12:16.two seasons with the owner absent from proceedings. This was the case

:12:16. > :12:19.for their argument that they should be reinstated into the league but

:12:19. > :12:25.the FAW council voted against it. Today the Judge ruled this was

:12:25. > :12:30.unlawful. The judge ruled that the decision made by the FA W Council

:12:30. > :12:35.was a rational -- irrational and flawed. He added they understood the

:12:35. > :12:38.difficulties of drawing up a new fixture list but said it was not

:12:38. > :12:43.catastrophic destruction and ruled that Division 3 should include 17

:12:43. > :12:47.teams, instead of 16. The FAW refused to talk on leaving court

:12:47. > :12:50.today but issued a statement saying they accept the decision taken by

:12:50. > :12:53.the High Court in Cardiff today. The Association will be acting upon the

:12:53. > :12:59.recommendation made. An FAW emergency Council meeting will take

:12:59. > :13:02.place on Wednesday. The team is now expected to play in division three

:13:02. > :13:06.of the Welsh League, two divisions lower to where they were but for

:13:06. > :13:09.fans - it's still a relief There have also been calls this evening

:13:09. > :13:12.for the Welsh Government to carry out a review of the governance of

:13:12. > :13:15.football in Wales. I don't know what I would have done if we doesn't

:13:15. > :13:19.exist. I've got no idea. For the last 25 years, our lives have been

:13:19. > :13:22.built around Barry town. Holidays, when we were in Europe, everything

:13:22. > :13:27.else. There have also been calls this evening for the Welsh

:13:27. > :13:31.government to carry out a review of the governance of football in Wales.

:13:31. > :13:37.For the fans, they can now look ahead to a new season and a future.

:13:37. > :13:47.Still to come: Picturing success this time around, Wrexham are ready

:13:47. > :13:50.

:13:50. > :13:54.to begin their battle to get back to A change in the way charities are

:13:54. > :13:56.funded has led to a worse service and is enormously expensive, that's

:13:57. > :14:02.the claim from the Wales Council for Voluntary Action. They're calling

:14:02. > :14:09.for a change to the way the third sector is funded.

:14:09. > :14:14.This out of school childcare club is one of 1500 supported by a kids club

:14:14. > :14:20.across Wales. But the organisation says changes to the way charities

:14:20. > :14:24.are funded is now posing problems. We've gone from grants to contracts.

:14:24. > :14:28.Everyone wants more for their pound. The Welsh assembly government

:14:28. > :14:33.pay the local authorities in arrears so now the local authorities think

:14:33. > :14:37.they will pay us in arrears and that diminishes our reserves. Concerns

:14:37. > :14:44.are now being raised that moving from grants to contracts could

:14:44. > :14:46.impact on the quality of services. The Meals on Wheels services,

:14:46. > :14:51.traditionally provided by voluntary organisations who have provided a

:14:51. > :14:56.hot meal and knocked on the door and spoken to the older person to make

:14:56. > :15:00.sure they were OK. Some local authorities have come along and

:15:00. > :15:05.said, OK, we want to procure that service and have gone out. People

:15:05. > :15:10.have come in with rock bottom prices and instead of doing the daily

:15:10. > :15:15.service, saying hello to the person and on, simply put in the microwave

:15:15. > :15:18.and given people a weeks worth of frozen food. That money paid out by

:15:18. > :15:22.charities is potentially just the tip of the iceberg. The move towards

:15:22. > :15:26.procuring services means that charities may have to pay VAT. That,

:15:26. > :15:36.they say, is a grey area and they are concerned about wider

:15:36. > :15:52.

:15:52. > :15:57.implications. In a statement, the continue to offer successful

:15:57. > :16:05.services, it says manoeuvring to the ever-changing landscape of funding

:16:06. > :16:09.is becoming more and more difficult. It's a big day at the National

:16:09. > :16:13.Eisteddfod. Let's head to Denbigh now and Tomos Dafydd is there for

:16:13. > :16:19.us. Tomos. Welcome to what is still a very busy

:16:19. > :16:22.Maes. People making the most of the dry weather. In the Pink Pavillion

:16:22. > :16:24.today, disappointment as no-one was worthy of winning the most

:16:24. > :16:27.prestigious prize of the week, the Eisteddfod Chair. Tonight,

:16:27. > :16:37.competitions continue, and behind me a concert will soon be in full

:16:37. > :16:42.swing. Here are some of the 23,000 people who have come today. I make

:16:42. > :16:45.it 130,000 people through the turnstiles so far this week. There

:16:45. > :16:55.were plenty of crowds earlier today for a special ceremony to welcome

:16:55. > :16:57.

:16:57. > :17:02.new members to the gorsedd. A swimmer has been recognised for his

:17:02. > :17:05.contribution to Welsh life. Swapping the swimming pool for the

:17:05. > :17:15.bardic circle. Two-time Olympic medallist, David Davis, recognised

:17:15. > :17:23.

:17:23. > :17:28.today. He is known here by his bardic name, Dai of the water. Had

:17:28. > :17:35.the staging Olympics, his speaking of Welsh left many officials

:17:35. > :17:42.perplexed. Do you want to translate this? Very different to swimming in

:17:42. > :17:45.April but fantastic honour. I'm amongst some great people in Wales.

:17:45. > :17:51.To be recognised after your achievements and to be involved in a

:17:51. > :17:56.national event is special. Very, very proud. The former footballer

:17:56. > :18:00.turned TV pundit, Malcolm Allen, was another filmic -- familiar face.

:18:00. > :18:04.am really pleased and it will be forever my mind. If your former

:18:04. > :18:14.team-mates could see you today, what would they make of it? They'd clap

:18:14. > :18:16.

:18:16. > :18:20.and call me Sir. It was a proud day also for chef Rin Williams. He

:18:20. > :18:26.champions Welsh produce at his restaurant in London. It just

:18:26. > :18:34.happens to be yards from where the first Gore met in Primrose Hill in

:18:34. > :18:40.1792. -- gorsedd. It's the equivalent of an MBE from people of

:18:40. > :18:44.Wales. It's all the extra special bits which makes Wales different.

:18:44. > :18:47.With his family living a stones throw from here, his -- there was

:18:47. > :18:51.plenty of support from home. Watching on as well, his

:18:52. > :18:57.girlfriend, the Leeds scene -- lead singer of Texas. It is her first

:18:57. > :19:02.experience here. It's really special. We don't have anything like

:19:02. > :19:08.this in Scotland. It is amazing to see people from different walks of

:19:08. > :19:13.life that have given something to Wales being given these -- this

:19:13. > :19:17.acknowledgement. It's fantastic. Earlier this week, the new archdruid

:19:17. > :19:24.told me she would like to see more Welsh learners and people from

:19:24. > :19:28.ethnic minorities welcomed to the festival. Her aspiration is to turn

:19:28. > :19:33.that into reality. And, for ceremony and the work continued this

:19:33. > :19:38.afternoon. -- colourful ceremony. For many, the highlight of the week

:19:38. > :19:45.was the chairing of the Bard. People were invited to write a collection

:19:45. > :19:53.of poems on the theme of voices. This year, disappointment. There was

:19:53. > :19:55.no one. Judges said no one was really of the chair. -- worthy of

:19:55. > :19:59.the chair. If you are wondering what happens to

:19:59. > :20:04.the chair now, the organising committee will decide. It will

:20:04. > :20:14.probably end up on display here. We will wait and see. Earlier, members

:20:14. > :20:15.

:20:15. > :20:19.of the Welsh language pressure group, Cymdeithas yr Iaith protested

:20:19. > :20:22.at Denbighshire Council's stand here on the maes. They disagree with the

:20:22. > :20:25.council's decision to give planning permission for more than 7,000 new

:20:25. > :20:28.homes in the county. The group says any impact on the Welsh language

:20:28. > :20:31.needs to be considered. Denbighshire Council says an independent review

:20:31. > :20:37.will be launched next month. reality is that outside there, in

:20:37. > :20:41.our communities, the Welsh language is in decline. The message to Colin

:20:41. > :20:46.Jones, to the Welsh government and local authorities, do something

:20:46. > :20:49.about it otherwise we will step in and ensure that something is done.

:20:49. > :20:56.In the local development plan, there are assessments on all

:20:56. > :21:01.developments. Perhaps that isn't strong enough insofar as what they

:21:01. > :21:10.expect and that is fair. But we have tried to secure the Welsh language

:21:10. > :21:14.within the plan. You may remember yesterday we

:21:14. > :21:16.brought you news that the fine arts prize was awarded to a video filmed

:21:16. > :21:19.in English, a move criticised by some language campaigners. Well

:21:19. > :21:22.tonight the Eisteddfod's chief executive has said he'll look into

:21:22. > :21:25.the way the art competition operates. Elfed Roberts said he had

:21:25. > :21:32.sympathy with the campaigners, who want all competitions, including art

:21:32. > :21:40.work to be in Welsh. A lovely evening in Denbigh. More

:21:40. > :21:44.from the Maes later on, when Derek will have the weekend forecast.

:21:44. > :21:50.Sport next, and Swansea will face a Romanian club in the play-off round

:21:50. > :21:54.of the Europa League. Michael Laudrup's side will play first at

:21:54. > :21:57.home on the 22nd August before flying to Romania a week later. The

:21:57. > :22:01.Swans earned their place in the play-offs after beating Swedish club

:22:01. > :22:05.Malmo 4-0 on aggregate. Football can be a cruel game. It

:22:05. > :22:08.certainly felt that way for Wrexham fans in the aftermath of their
