:00:09. > :00:14.Good evening. Around 1,000 people have demonstrated against plans to

:00:15. > :00:19.centralise specialist maternity services in west Wales. The Health

:00:20. > :00:22.Minister announced last week that the special care unit at Withybush

:00:23. > :00:26.Hospital in Haverfordwest would close and the service would be

:00:27. > :00:39.provided in Carmarthen. Sachin Krishnan reports.

:00:40. > :00:42.On a wet Sunday morning, the turnout showed the strength of feeling the

:00:43. > :00:48.issue of specialist babycare at Withybush Hospital has generated.

:00:49. > :00:53.This week in the news, it many heard what they were dreading. The

:00:54. > :00:57.maternity unit would be leaving here and move into Carmarthen. Patients

:00:58. > :01:00.and professionals today joined together to deliver their message.

:01:01. > :01:05.We believe it should be centralised here. We believe there is a shortage

:01:06. > :01:10.of funds, we understand that. The people of Carmarthen have good road

:01:11. > :01:14.access to Swansea and the people at Llanelli who are included in the

:01:15. > :01:18.health board are included in Swansea so why should we be disadvantaged,

:01:19. > :01:23.because of that? The health minister insists the plans to centralise the

:01:24. > :01:29.specialist baby unit in Carmarthen will improve care. Other hospitals

:01:30. > :01:32.in the health board's area will eventually provide midwife led

:01:33. > :01:37.services, with a transport system to be developed to transfer emergency

:01:38. > :01:42.cases to Carmarthen. The scrutiny panel has concluded that it has not

:01:43. > :01:48.been presented with any additional evidence that leads them to question

:01:49. > :01:54.been presented with any additional health board's proposals to

:01:55. > :01:56.been presented with any additional Carmarthen. The plans allow for a

:01:57. > :01:56.bedding in Carmarthen. The plans allow for a

:01:57. > :02:00.obstetricians staying on for Carmarthen. The plans allow for a

:02:01. > :02:03.at Withybush Hospital and a hospital Carmarthen. The plans allow for a

:02:04. > :02:06.in Aberystwyth. But these protesters say they will fight on and are

:02:07. > :02:08.applying for a judicial review of these decisions.

:02:09. > :02:11.There's a call for the leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats to explain

:02:12. > :02:14.what actions have been taken since disciplining one of its assembly

:02:15. > :02:17.members. William Powell, who represents Mid and West Wales, has

:02:18. > :02:20.apologised to a young female activist for inappropriate behaviour

:02:21. > :02:25.in 2011, including touching her knee and putting his hands around her

:02:26. > :02:28.waist. The party says Mr. Powell was given a formal written warning last

:02:29. > :02:31.year, but the Welsh Conservatives say an explanation should now be

:02:32. > :02:36.given about what's been done since that warning.

:02:37. > :02:39.The Welsh Government is supporting a decision by the UK Government to ban

:02:40. > :02:43.electronic cigarettes for under-18s. A new law is also being introduced

:02:44. > :02:48.to give adults who buy cigarettes for children an on-the-spot penalty

:02:49. > :02:50.of ?50. Ministers here say they're currently considering how similar

:02:51. > :02:55.legislation could be introduced in Wales.

:02:56. > :02:57.Scientists in Cardiff are testing an experimental treatment that could

:02:58. > :03:01.reverse the spread and development of breast cancer. Researchers are

:03:02. > :03:05.now moving on to clinical and patient trials. The majority of

:03:06. > :03:15.deaths from cancer are as a result of its spread to organs such as the

:03:16. > :03:20.liver, brain or lungs. What we've established is that using high-end

:03:21. > :03:26.computer technology, we've been able to identify a small chemical

:03:27. > :03:30.compound that could fit in between these two proteins and prevent them

:03:31. > :03:35.from interacting. So this compound, we think, would make a terrific

:03:36. > :03:38.potential therapeutic drug. The President of the Welsh Rugby

:03:39. > :03:41.Players' Association has broadly welcomed the decision of Wales

:03:42. > :03:44.Captain Sam Warburton to sign a central contract with the WRU. The

:03:45. > :03:49.deal states Warburton will be loaned out to his current club the Cardiff

:03:50. > :03:52.Blues. But the regional teams, who remain locked in a dispute with the

:03:53. > :03:58.Welsh Rugby Union, have previously said they would NOT pick any

:03:59. > :04:04.centrally contracted players. I think it's a concern with him being

:04:05. > :04:08.the first person to sign a central contract. I think it's a very

:04:09. > :04:12.positive story for Welsh rugby to have the national captain here in

:04:13. > :04:17.Wales. But without knowing where he is going to be playing next season,

:04:18. > :04:21.in which competitions, how often, it's a worrying position to be in.

:04:22. > :04:23.But it's a great story. A very strategic move by the Welsh Rugby

:04:24. > :04:26.Union. And there's more reaction to this

:04:27. > :04:30.story and a preview of the Six Nations on Scrum V in a few moments

:04:31. > :04:34.on BBC Two Wales. On to football - Swansea City will

:04:35. > :04:38.face Everton away in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Swans came back

:04:39. > :04:40.from a goal down to win 2-1 at Birmingham yesterday - substitute

:04:41. > :04:43.Wilfred Bony with both goals. Cardiff City's

:04:44. > :04:43.Wilfred Bony with both goals. Bolton is home tie against the

:04:44. > :04:52.holders Wigan - the matches will be holders Wigan - the matches will be

:04:53. > :04:59.forecast now. We say goodbye

:05:00. > :05:02.forecast now. from earlier but we've got a cold

:05:03. > :05:06.night ahead of us. The Met Office have got a yellow warning in place

:05:07. > :05:13.for ice for part away from the coastline until 10am tomorrow. That

:05:14. > :05:16.is because we have colder air so blustery showers are likely to fall

:05:17. > :05:19.as snow on higher ground and sleet or snow on lower ground and you're

:05:20. > :05:23.likely to have a dusting on the cards in the morning. Temperatures

:05:24. > :05:28.close to freezing in some parts tonight. Tomorrow, more blustery

:05:29. > :05:34.showers on the way. They are not likely to fall as snow tomorrow but

:05:35. > :05:40.still a very windy day. A cold wind, with two bridges struggling to

:05:41. > :05:42.reach seven or eight. Unsettled all the way through until Thursday, when

:05:43. > :05:48.things dry up a little but temperatures dip quite

:05:49. > :05:52.significantly. I'll be back just after 10:15pm.

:05:53. > :06:01.Hope you can join us then. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

:06:02. > :06:06.Until then, plenty more news on our website. Bye-bye.

:06:07. > :06:12.Good evening. will keep going through the nights

:06:13. > :06:16.tonight and as the air turns colder,

:06:17. > :06:20.tonight and as the air turns wintry. A mixture of sleet and snow

:06:21. > :06:21.leaving us with the risk advice. The band of rain has cleared
