:00:17. > :00:19.Good evening. Coastal areas of Wales are preparing

:00:20. > :00:24.for the possibility of further flooding after high tides and strong

:00:25. > :00:27.winds over the next 24 hours. Officials have warned that coastal

:00:28. > :00:30.flooding could be as severe as at the start of the year. Tonight,

:00:31. > :00:39.there are 49 flood warnings in place as well as 19 flood alerts.

:00:40. > :00:43.Charlotte Dubenski reports. It is only a few weeks since much of

:00:44. > :00:48.Wales was hit by severe storms but yet again towns and villages across

:00:49. > :00:53.the country are being hit by more poor weather. In Aberystwyth, these

:00:54. > :00:59.students probably expected to be having a lot more fun on a Friday.

:01:00. > :01:04.Packing for hire and try a ground has been a regular occurrence. This

:01:05. > :01:14.is the third time this student has left his room. The excitement is

:01:15. > :01:20.lasting too long now. Hopefully it will pass and we don't have another

:01:21. > :01:29.one. Aberystwyth University says it is better to be safe than sorry. One

:01:30. > :01:31.one. Aberystwyth University says it natural events and the history

:01:32. > :01:33.one. Aberystwyth University says it extreme natural events are full of

:01:34. > :01:45.disasters with people I've been killed. After a New Year spent being

:01:46. > :01:49.battered by high tides and strong winds, more severe weather is the

:01:50. > :01:55.last thing this town needs. Repair work has been put on hold while

:01:56. > :01:57.defence becomes the priority. But the focus is not just in

:01:58. > :02:08.Aberystwyth. Natural Resources Wales is warning all coastal areas will be

:02:09. > :02:12.hit with flooding. We do get the high spring tides once every month

:02:13. > :02:16.but it is augmented by the strong winds which are going to drive the

:02:17. > :02:20.waves onshore and low-pressure system that goes through at the same

:02:21. > :02:24.time, if those three things happen at the same time, sea levels will

:02:25. > :02:31.rise, and the effects will be more dramatic. This is just the calm

:02:32. > :02:34.before the storm. High tides and strong winds are due to batter

:02:35. > :02:40.coastlines across Wales over the weekend once again. Across Wales

:02:41. > :02:46.preparations have been made for this weekend. In Gwynedd, 500 giant

:02:47. > :02:52.sandbags have blocked a gap in the sea defences and in Fishguard eight

:02:53. > :02:59.110 bags have been placed in the lower town to protect properties.

:03:00. > :03:02.The deputy head of a Cardiff comprehensive school has pleaded

:03:03. > :03:04.guilty to three charges of voyeurism. 47-year-old Gareth

:03:05. > :03:13.Williams has been remanded in custody. He'll be sentenced next

:03:14. > :03:17.month. Nick Palit reports. 47-year-old Gareth Williams arrived

:03:18. > :03:22.at Cardiff Magistrates Court today to face three charges of voyeurism.

:03:23. > :03:25.He's been in custody since his arrest last week. He is the debris

:03:26. > :03:30.head of Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf in Cardiff. These offences did not take

:03:31. > :03:35.place at the school where he worked but he was suspended from that

:03:36. > :03:38.teaching post after being arrested. During the brief hearing, Gareth

:03:39. > :03:44.Williams spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. He pleaded

:03:45. > :03:48.guilty to three charges of recording of a private act without their

:03:49. > :03:53.consent for the purpose of sexual gratification. The court heard how

:03:54. > :03:58.South Wales Police recovered a camera concealed in a toilet and

:03:59. > :04:02.memory sticks with recordings of five children. He was remanded in

:04:03. > :04:10.custody and will appear in Cardiff Crown Court to be sentenced on the

:04:11. > :04:13.21st of February. A week after the announcement that

:04:14. > :04:16.Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire is to lose specialist baby care

:04:17. > :04:19.services, the health board has now confirmed 24 hour paediatric cover

:04:20. > :04:25.will also be withdrawn. It'll be replaced with a 12 hour walk-in

:04:26. > :04:26.service during the day. Chemicals which imitate cannabis and

:04:27. > :04:31.ecstasy are being Chemicals which imitate cannabis and

:04:32. > :04:34.as young as 12. That's according to the Drug Interventions Programme

:04:35. > :04:37.Gwent, which says there's a growing problem with so-called 'legal

:04:38. > :04:38.highs'. Now a unique scheme in Wales is analysing samples of the

:04:39. > :04:42.substances, sent to anonymously, and publishing the

:04:43. > :04:49.results. Called Wedin-os, it's been criticised by opposition

:04:50. > :04:54.politicians. But Public Health Wales says the scheme helps to treat

:04:55. > :04:57.users. Council leaders are calling for

:04:58. > :05:00.urgent talks with the First Minister, Carwyn Jones, in order to

:05:01. > :05:03.put forward alternative proposals for council re-organisation. All 22

:05:04. > :05:12.councils met for the first time today to discuss proposals to halve

:05:13. > :05:17.the number of authorities. We ourselves would like to put a

:05:18. > :05:22.compelling case to the first Minister for change in local

:05:23. > :05:26.government and we'd like that to be considered. It will flow from an

:05:27. > :05:30.analysis that local government itself will undertake looking at

:05:31. > :05:36.costs and looking at boundaries but also looking at the best fit for our

:05:37. > :05:40.communities across Wales. One of the last dairies to process

:05:41. > :05:43.milk in Wales has closed, with the loss of 26 jobs. The Dairy Crest

:05:44. > :05:47.site at Whitland shut its doors two years after it was taken over by the

:05:48. > :05:51.company Proper Welsh. From now on, Dairy Crest will process its Welsh

:05:52. > :05:54.milk at its site near Stroud in Gloucestershire. It says the site

:05:55. > :06:03.was too small to justify the investment needed, but it's still

:06:04. > :06:08.committed to producing Welsh milk. We definitely won't be walking away

:06:09. > :06:19.from Wales. We would like to have more Welsh Mick in our business --

:06:20. > :06:21.Welsh milk. We see a positive future for Welsh dairy farmers supplying to

:06:22. > :06:24.our business. Tomorrow, Wales welcome Italy in the

:06:25. > :06:27.Six Nations Championship opener. Wales have won the competition for

:06:28. > :06:31.the last two years and they're aiming to become the first team in

:06:32. > :06:41.history to win it three times in a row. Whether it's the autumn or the

:06:42. > :06:47.six Nations, we tend to start slow and get stronger as the tournament

:06:48. > :06:50.goes on. It is something we have spoken about.

:06:51. > :06:53.Coverage starts on BBC One Wales at 2:00pm. France against England

:06:54. > :06:56.follows that match. Wales Under-20s have started their

:06:57. > :07:00.Six Nations Championship with a 26-9 win against Italy in Colwyn Bay.

:07:01. > :07:06.Wales, who were runners-up last year, scored three tries in the

:07:07. > :07:10.opener at Eirias Park. Swansea City have made a bid to sign

:07:11. > :07:13.Middlesbrough forward Marvin Emnes on loan until the end of the season.

:07:14. > :07:17.The 25-year-old has previously played for the Welsh club during a

:07:18. > :07:20.loan spell three seasons ago and scored the winner in a South Wales

:07:21. > :07:21.derby against Cardiff City. He has scored just once for Middlesbrough

:07:22. > :07:29.this season. scored just once for Middlesbrough

:07:30. > :07:31.to Southend United tonight. It was their first game in weeks due to a

:07:32. > :07:36.waterlogged their first game in weeks due to a

:07:37. > :07:39.Let's get the weather forecast Behnaz is here. A risk of further

:07:40. > :07:51.flooding. Absolutely. Hazardous conditions

:07:52. > :07:55.across Wales over the next 24 hours. This evening and overnight there is

:07:56. > :07:59.a warning for ice and you need to take care on untreated surfaces.

:08:00. > :08:09.We've had a lot of rain today and temperatures will drop tonight. You

:08:10. > :08:16.will need to take care first thing tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning,

:08:17. > :08:20.showers falling as snow on the man tins but hopefully something a bit

:08:21. > :08:24.milder as we go into the afternoon. For the rest of the UK, ice first

:08:25. > :08:29.thing in the morning and further risks of flooding. Strong winds

:08:30. > :08:35.taking charge throughout Saturday. Across Wales tomorrow afternoon,

:08:36. > :08:42.very strong winds and squally showers throughout much of the day.

:08:43. > :08:48.We could see the risk of further flooding due to large waves and

:08:49. > :08:59.those strong winds. If you are worried, you can phone the flood

:09:00. > :09:02.line number. Tomorrow evening, the gusty conditions continuing for a

:09:03. > :09:06.time and showers rolling in from the west. But gradually they will ease

:09:07. > :09:15.off in the early hours of Sunday morning. Then finally we get a brief

:09:16. > :09:18.break as we going to Sunday and there will be some bright this

:09:19. > :09:25.around. They were showers competed this Saturday. A bit easy but

:09:26. > :09:32.nothing as windy as what we are going to see tomorrow. Monday, the

:09:33. > :09:37.return of the very wet and windy conditions. That is a yellow warning

:09:38. > :09:45.in place for the rain yet again on Monday. A risk of further flooding.

:09:46. > :09:47.The best day of the weekend on Sunday and things going downhill for

:09:48. > :09:53.the start of next week. We'll keep you updated on the

:09:54. > :09:57.flooding and weather situation. We're back tomorrow lunchtime just

:09:58. > :10:00.after 1:05pm. For now though, from all of us here, good night.
