:00:00. > :00:12.Thank you very much. That is it from

:00:13. > :00:16.Good afternoon. Coastal areas of Wales have largely escaped serious

:00:17. > :00:20.flooding that had been predicted overnight. There had been warnings

:00:21. > :00:23.that strong winds and high tides could have brought similar

:00:24. > :00:26.disruption as that seen in the New Year. Our reporter Charlotte

:00:27. > :00:38.Dubenskij is in Aberystwyth for us this lunchtime.

:00:39. > :00:46.It is very wet and windy here on the promenade. Behind me, the iconic

:00:47. > :00:50.1920s Bandstand stood a few weeks ago. Last night construction workers

:00:51. > :00:55.were working to protect the promenade from the damage that was

:00:56. > :00:59.caused a few weeks ago. The storm hasn't been anywhere near as severe

:01:00. > :01:05.as the beginning of January but bad weather is predicted to come in

:01:06. > :01:09.again this evening. After being battered in early January, many in

:01:10. > :01:14.Aberystwyth would have feared the worst but this morning, along with

:01:15. > :01:21.much of coastal rails, the town largely escaped flooding. It had

:01:22. > :01:26.pitted did because of strong winds. The first high tide has already gone

:01:27. > :01:29.without much impact to the promenade. The rules didn't have the

:01:30. > :01:36.ferocity of the storms at the beginning of the New Year, but

:01:37. > :01:41.despite that, natural resources Wales is urging people to stay away

:01:42. > :01:45.from coastlines across Wales. Natural resources Wales had warned

:01:46. > :01:50.conditions could be as bad as those we saw last month so many are

:01:51. > :01:55.breathing a sigh of relief. The predictions were that we were going

:01:56. > :01:59.to have a repeat of the storm we had in January but this morning, it

:02:00. > :02:04.wasn't so bad. Predicting storms is not a science but we have to make

:02:05. > :02:08.the proper arrangements and make sure that people are safe. In West

:02:09. > :02:13.Wales there has been some disruption to train services around Llanelli,

:02:14. > :02:18.but in Fishguard, the lower town which has been protected by bags of

:02:19. > :02:22.aggregate, escaped any flooding. Back in Aberystwyth, some are

:02:23. > :02:26.concerned whether warnings are having an adverse effect on

:02:27. > :02:30.businesses and tourism. Certainly today, there are very few

:02:31. > :02:35.people in the town. It is affecting the town as a whole.

:02:36. > :02:39.More high tides are predicted across Wales 's coastline this evening.

:02:40. > :02:43.People are living the coast are still being urged to be prepared.

:02:44. > :02:46.Eleven councils across Wales are to share ?100 million for regeneration

:02:47. > :02:49.projects. Among the grants from the Welsh Government, Newport has

:02:50. > :02:52.received the highest amount of ?15 million, which is partly to be used

:02:53. > :02:57.for new housing. Wrexham will receive more than ?10 million.

:02:58. > :03:05.Football and Swansea City are around 20 minutes into their Premier League

:03:06. > :03:08.match at struggling West Ham. The latest score is West Ham Miller,

:03:09. > :03:11.Swansea nil. Cardiff host Norwich later.

:03:12. > :03:14.In Rugby, Wales begin their attempt to make history later when they face

:03:15. > :03:18.Italy at the Millennium Stadium. No team has won the title three years

:03:19. > :03:21.in a row in the Six Nations era. There's full coverage on BBC Radio

:03:22. > :03:25.Wales, Radio Cymru and BBC One Wales. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.

:03:26. > :03:33.Let's get a full check on the weather now. Here's Alina Jenkins.

:03:34. > :03:37.Our concern this afternoon as the strength of the room. A yellow

:03:38. > :03:43.warning from The Met office. Locally, 70 miles an hour on exposed

:03:44. > :03:48.parts of the coast. Combined with high tides, there is a risk of

:03:49. > :03:54.coastal flooding. Showers and spells of rain and working across through

:03:55. > :03:58.Wales. Tomorrow, about a day, fewer showers, slightly lighter winds and

:03:59. > :04:00.a brief response because male rat and windy weather to come next week.

:04:01. > :04:13.That's Wales Today. We're back at Some of us will have to brace

:04:14. > :04:18.ourselves today. Leaning forward into the wind. If you live over the

:04:19. > :04:25.west of the UK, there are gale-force winds on the way, but the main

:04:26. > :04:26.hazards are the gales and the potential for flooding. Tomorrow, a
