:00:00. > 3:59:59There's more throughout the evening on the BBC News Channel, and I'll be

:00:00. > :00:19.back with Good evening. Work has been going on

:00:20. > :00:24.throughout the day to clear a bus - that had been carrying passengers -

:00:25. > :00:28.when it was hit by a massive wave in stormy weather last night.

:00:29. > :00:32.Pembrokeshire Council says they were in the process of closing the road

:00:33. > :00:34.through Newgale when the bus became marooned. No one was injured.

:00:35. > :00:39.Caroline Evans reports. This is what the weather did last

:00:40. > :00:43.night in nude Gail. Conditions still treacherous as passengers were

:00:44. > :00:47.rescued by the emergency services. We were down about eight o'clock

:00:48. > :00:51.last night and when we got down here we could see there was something in

:00:52. > :00:56.the water but we were not sure what it was. The police told us they had

:00:57. > :01:02.a major evacuation under way and as the evening went on, I suppose about

:01:03. > :01:08.an hour or so, the ambulances were here, the fire engines, the

:01:09. > :01:13.coastguards, and as they managed to evacuate the people they were taking

:01:14. > :01:18.up the hill in police cars and onto another bus up there and paramedics

:01:19. > :01:24.were up there, and there was an awful lot going on down here but it

:01:25. > :01:29.was very calm and well organised. In that direction is Saint David's and

:01:30. > :01:34.this way is Haverfordwest and it seems the bus was travelling towards

:01:35. > :01:39.Haverfordwest when a massive wave to get off the road. Local people say

:01:40. > :01:43.that until the last two weeks they have not seen conditions like this

:01:44. > :01:46.for more than 20 years and it must have been terrifying.

:01:47. > :01:51.Today the road to the beach was packed with cars as people came to

:01:52. > :01:55.see the damage for themselves. It must've been horrendous for them, I

:01:56. > :02:00.would have thought. We saw the wave coming over last night and it looked

:02:01. > :02:06.frightening from up there! It must've been pretty horrific for the

:02:07. > :02:11.people in the coach. The waves come over many a year but never like

:02:12. > :02:16.this. It must've been quite scary for the people on the bus. This

:02:17. > :02:20.afternoon Pembrokeshire Council confirmed they had been in the

:02:21. > :02:25.process of closing the road when the bus went through Newgale. Elsewhere,

:02:26. > :02:30.more wind and waves battered the coast. In Porthcawl a seven foot

:02:31. > :02:37.wall was demolished. The RNLI could not launch their boat well the crew

:02:38. > :02:44.cleared debris. -- while the crew. This was Aberystwyth. We are really

:02:45. > :02:48.pleased that the repairs after the last storms have held up. There was

:02:49. > :02:53.minimal damage from last night but we have a bit of shingle lying

:02:54. > :03:00.around. We have reopened this stretch of road Road and we will be

:03:01. > :03:07.reopening the rest of the road from about lunchtime tomorrow. Tonight

:03:08. > :03:10.the council is assessing the cost of damage for the second time this

:03:11. > :03:12.year. Elsewhere, more than 50 mountain

:03:13. > :03:15.rescuers battled atrocious weather conditions to help find a group of

:03:16. > :03:18.students in the Cambrian Mountains. Seven students from Manchester

:03:19. > :03:20.Metropolitan University had set out to walk Pumlumon mountain between

:03:21. > :03:24.Aberystwyth and Llanidloes when weather conditions deteriorated.

:03:25. > :03:27.There's a powerful case for extending the smoking ban to

:03:28. > :03:30.e-cigarettes. That's according to the Health Minister. Mark Drakeford

:03:31. > :03:33.says, while he understands they could help people quit smoking, he

:03:34. > :03:37.is very anxious about e-cigarettes. On Tuesday Assembly Members are to

:03:38. > :03:47.vote on whether to ban their sale to under-18s.

:03:48. > :03:51.The e-cigarette movement is normalising smoking again,

:03:52. > :03:55.glamorising smoking again. It contains nicotine, which is highly

:03:56. > :03:58.addictive, and we don't want e-cigarettes to become a gateway to

:03:59. > :04:02.real cigarettes. Rugby, and Wales have no new injury

:04:03. > :04:05.concerns after their win over Italy. Tries from Scott Williams and Alex

:04:06. > :04:08.Cuthbert meant Wales started their defence of the Six Nations title

:04:09. > :04:12.with a win. The coaching staff will keep an eye on Luke Charteris,

:04:13. > :04:19.though, who was replaced in the second half.

:04:20. > :04:24.You can watch plenty of discussion and analysis of their opening game

:04:25. > :04:29.on BBC Two Wales at seven o'clock this evening.

:04:30. > :04:32.Football - Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his side was

:04:33. > :04:35.lucky in their 2-1 win over Norwich. After falling behind, Craig Bellamy

:04:36. > :04:38.equalised, becoming the first player to score for seven different Premier

:04:39. > :04:43.League clubs. Striker Kenwyne Jones scored the winner on his debut.

:04:44. > :04:46.Mmeanwhile, Swansea City are just three points above the Bluebirds

:04:47. > :04:49.ahead of the South Wales derby next weekend, after losing 2-0 to West

:04:50. > :04:58.Ham. The weather forecast for Wales -

:04:59. > :05:01.here is Sara Thornton. A number of showers across Wales

:05:02. > :05:11.during the day but also some dry weather. Here are those showers,

:05:12. > :05:18.coming again through the night, but the breeze will be picking up and

:05:19. > :05:23.the rain advances from the West through the morning. We have a Met

:05:24. > :05:27.Office weather warning for rain heading in tomorrow. That is

:05:28. > :05:31.combined with some very strong winds. The warning in place for

:05:32. > :05:34.temperature, parts of the south coast. We could see up to 30

:05:35. > :05:42.millimetres in a short period of time. Combined with some very strong

:05:43. > :05:50.winds, we could see gusts along the coast of 50 to 60 mph. We could see

:05:51. > :05:55.some very big waves and maybe some overtopping. Tuesday into Wednesday

:05:56. > :06:00.we have some more heavy rain and some more very strong winds.

:06:01. > :06:08.Wednesday. Lots of ice bars on the chart.

:06:09. > :06:13.Good evening. Most of us have had a fine Sunday with some sunshine, but

:06:14. > :06:20.there is more wet and windy weather on the way. Focused tomorrow across

:06:21. > :06:23.western areas. In the east, again, generally dry and breezy. The

:06:24. > :06:28.breezes picking up again overnight, the wind is getting lively again

:06:29. > :06:30.around western coasts and with further high tides, the ongoing risk
