:00:00. > :00:22.confiscated and destroyed, well, that must be galling.

:00:23. > :00:27.Good evening. The driver of a bus forced off the road in horrendous

:00:28. > :00:30.weather conditions has denied claims he was told to use another route.

:00:31. > :00:32.Pembrokeshire Council says he ignored warnings, even though

:00:33. > :00:36.traffic was being diverted at Newgale. No-one was injured but ten

:00:37. > :00:40.passengers and the driver had to be rescued after the bus was hit by a

:00:41. > :00:47.huge wave. There are warnings of more bad weather to come this week.

:00:48. > :00:52.Abigail Neal reports. This is the aftermath of the latest storm. The

:00:53. > :00:55.411 bus from St David's to Haverfordwest was swept off the road

:00:56. > :00:59.on Saturday night, and ten passengers had to be rescued as the

:01:00. > :01:03.bus was battered by the waves. The driver that night was back on his

:01:04. > :01:13.route this morning, describing his shock the moment the wave hit. I

:01:14. > :01:16.hadn't moved the steering work -- steering wheel and suddenly we are

:01:17. > :01:19.going in a different direction. It was literally the same sort of

:01:20. > :01:26.effort as you would imagine picking up a coffee table to move it. It

:01:27. > :01:29.must have felt quite strange. Yes. It's not something I want to go

:01:30. > :01:31.through in the near future. Police are carrying out a routine

:01:32. > :01:34.investigation into the accident. Pembrokeshire Council have issued a

:01:35. > :01:38.statement saying that the driver ignored warnings from their workers

:01:39. > :01:41.at the scene. They say that at 7pm the council was in the process of

:01:42. > :01:50.closing the road and advised him to take an alternative route, something

:01:51. > :01:54.Mr Ashman flatly denies. They'd just arrived, they were in the process of

:01:55. > :02:02.it, I believe. Ultimately, I'm not going to put myself or passengers at

:02:03. > :02:07.risk. It is not in my best interests. I was told that there

:02:08. > :02:12.were standing water but it was still possible with care. We spoke to one

:02:13. > :02:17.passenger on the bus today who corroborated the driver's version of

:02:18. > :02:21.events. It's the second time in a month that the storm has caused

:02:22. > :02:25.chaos down here in Newgale. And while the weather wasn't as bad as

:02:26. > :02:28.in January, it wasn't the only part of Wales to suffer. In Abersoch a

:02:29. > :02:32.number of beach huts were badly damaged, and in Porthmadog a train

:02:33. > :02:35.carrying tools was overturned on the tracks by the 70mph winds. They took

:02:36. > :02:40.no risks in Aberystwyth, sending students home for the weekend. But

:02:41. > :02:51.in the end it was only shingle and debris that scattered the promenade.

:02:52. > :02:54.The app centre text to the phone and interrogate the phone's GPS.

:02:55. > :02:57.Technology came to the rescue nearby when a phone app helped mountain

:02:58. > :03:03.rescue teams locate a group of seven students from Manchester who got

:03:04. > :03:09.into trouble on Pumlumon Mountain. If you think of a huge area, very

:03:10. > :03:13.poor phone signal normally. Without a clear indication of where they

:03:14. > :03:17.were, it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. If we have a

:03:18. > :03:21.precise location it makes the job a lot easier. The Met Office have

:03:22. > :03:25.warned that another band of strong wind and heavy rain to come, with

:03:26. > :03:29.some coastal areas facing wind speeds of up to 80 mph. Patients are

:03:30. > :03:31.being urged to stay away from Wales' largest hospital following an

:03:32. > :03:35.unprecedented influx of patients over the past 48 hours. Cardiff and

:03:36. > :03:38.Vale University Health Board is tonight warning people coming to the

:03:39. > :03:40.Emergency Unit at the University Hospital of Wales with minor

:03:41. > :03:44.conditions to expect significant waits for treatment, as staff are

:03:45. > :03:52.focusing on caring for the sickest patients. Who owns the rights to

:03:53. > :03:55.whatever lies beneath your house or garden? They call them manorial

:03:56. > :03:59.rights and tonight, 800 people attended a meeting on Anglesey to

:04:00. > :04:03.discuss what had, until now, thought to be largely symbolic rights. The

:04:04. > :04:06.meeting heard about Lord Treffos, who bought the title in 1992, who

:04:07. > :04:20.claims manorial rights over thousands of properties. There is

:04:21. > :04:24.some good news. We are hoping he will drop the claim and we might not

:04:25. > :04:27.have to take things any further. I have some residual concerns, because

:04:28. > :04:32.even if he didn't drop the claim he could sell the rights to somebody

:04:33. > :04:35.else. Although I'm not worried about my house particularly, there is land

:04:36. > :04:38.that somebody could theoretically come hunting on that we don't want

:04:39. > :04:41.them to do that. Dyfed-Powys Police say they're talking to the Crown

:04:42. > :04:44.Prosecution Service and another police force over payments to two

:04:45. > :04:47.council chief executives. Auditors say Mark James, the chief executive

:04:48. > :04:49.of Carmarthenshire, and his counterpart at Pembrokeshire, Bryn

:04:50. > :04:54.Parry Jones, were unlawfully paid pension contributions directly to

:04:55. > :05:02.avoid paying tax. Both councils have denied doing anything wrong. Police

:05:03. > :05:06.are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a patient

:05:07. > :05:09.at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. 81-year-old Alan Walker, from

:05:10. > :05:13.Leeswood near Mold, died nearly two weeks ago. A cause of death has not

:05:14. > :05:16.yet been confirmed. North Wales Police said there had been no

:05:17. > :05:21.arrests, but staff at the hospital were assisting with inquiries. The

:05:22. > :05:24.family of missing teenager Nida Naseer say she was deeply depressed

:05:25. > :05:28.for two years before disappearing in December. Her sister says the

:05:29. > :05:32.19-year-old from Newport was also jealous of a friend who'd been

:05:33. > :05:37.granted asylum and allowed to attend university. Nida's family, who are

:05:38. > :05:44.from Pakistan, had been refused asylum. Gwent Police say they've

:05:45. > :05:48.received over 50 calls regarding reported sightings across the UK but

:05:49. > :05:51.Nida is still missing. Wales' longest-serving MP is standing down

:05:52. > :05:58.at the general election next year. Ann Clwyd, who's 76, has been MP for

:05:59. > :06:01.Cynon Valley for 30 years. She says she'll continue to speak out on

:06:02. > :06:07.issues such as human rights and the NHS. For many years she was the only

:06:08. > :06:08.Welsh woman MP at Westminster. Our parliamentary correspondent, David

:06:09. > :06:23.Cornock, reports. As a woman in what was often a

:06:24. > :06:26.man's world, and Clywd knew how to get noticed, spending a night

:06:27. > :06:34.underground to fight plans to close Tower colliery in the mid-1990s. How

:06:35. > :06:38.are you feeling? A bit feeble at the moment but I'm very pleased we

:06:39. > :06:43.managed to get some kind of reprieve. Ten years earlier she'd

:06:44. > :06:48.won the by-election to become only Wales' fourth woman MP ever. It was

:06:49. > :06:53.difficult for a woman to break in. But the more difficult it was, the

:06:54. > :06:56.more determined you came to get your foot in the door. This is what I

:06:57. > :07:01.always say to people. Keep your foot in the door, don't take it out. At

:07:02. > :07:06.Westminster she made her name on foreign affairs, speaking up on

:07:07. > :07:10.human rights. Often independent and outspoken, in opposition she was

:07:11. > :07:14.sacked from the Labour front bench by both Neil Kinnock and Tony Blair.

:07:15. > :07:18.But you won cross-party support for highlighting problems in the care

:07:19. > :07:22.her dying husband received in hospital in Cardiff. There are

:07:23. > :07:27.increasing complaints about nurses who failed to show care and

:07:28. > :07:31.compassion to their patients. What will the Prime Minister do about

:07:32. > :07:37.that? The Prime Minister asked her to lead a review of NHS complaints

:07:38. > :07:41.in England. I felt very angry that this should be happening in the

:07:42. > :07:47.NHS, but I think the vast number of letters that I got certainly proved

:07:48. > :07:55.I wasn't alone. That gave me particular impetus to carry on the

:07:56. > :07:59.campaign. It is still going on. Now 76, she says she'll continue to

:08:00. > :08:05.speak out. The House of Lords may follow. This is not her swansong but

:08:06. > :08:13.a slight pause for breath. Let's get the forecast now.

:08:14. > :08:20.No sign of any high pressure. Wet in Pembrokeshire today. Yes, there is

:08:21. > :08:25.more heavy rain and gale is on the weekend. You could see 100

:08:26. > :08:30.millimetres or more of rain in parts of the South and West. That is up to

:08:31. > :08:34.five inches. Most places wet at the moment, a bit of snow on the higher

:08:35. > :08:38.ground. That rain will gradually clearing away. Turning dry before

:08:39. > :08:42.showers arrived, some of these heavy and wintry on higher ground.

:08:43. > :08:45.Temperatures inland clue falling close to freezing and there will be

:08:46. > :08:50.a touch of frost in places with icy patches. The case of dodging the

:08:51. > :08:57.showers tomorrow morning. Some of them heavy. Some sunshine as well.

:08:58. > :09:00.Across the rest of the UK, damp and breezy in the north-east of

:09:01. > :09:06.Scotland. Elsewhere, brighter, some sunshine, scattered, heavy downpours

:09:07. > :09:10.as well. Some places will stay dry. However, wet and windy weather will

:09:11. > :09:14.reach the south-west and Cornwall mid to late afternoon with severe

:09:15. > :09:18.gales. At 3pm, most of Wales should be dry but you will notice the

:09:19. > :09:21.southeasterly wind strengthening. Eventually Gales on the

:09:22. > :09:26.Pembrokeshire coast and rain in the south and south-west. All tied to

:09:27. > :09:32.this storm system heading towards the south west of Ireland. Turning

:09:33. > :09:37.wet and very window -- Indy tomorrow evening. Heavy rain, strong to

:09:38. > :09:42.severe sales force winds as well. It is they will continue windy. Further

:09:43. > :09:46.rain and blustery showers, strong winds and gales with a risk of

:09:47. > :09:48.flooding on the coast from Anglesey to south-west Wales. Brighter on

:09:49. > :09:51.Thursday but more stormy weather next weekend.

:09:52. > :09:57.Jeremy Paxman has Newsnight over on BBC Two now, with the story of the

:09:58. > :10:02.former UKIP spokesman who led a kidnap gang in Pakistan.
