:00:19. > :00:23.Good evening. Swansea City Football Club have tonight sacked manager

:00:24. > :00:26.Michael Laudrup. The Dane led the Swans to their first major trophy

:00:27. > :00:30.last season, but less than a year later he is out of a job. Let's talk

:00:31. > :00:41.to our football correspondent, Rob Phillips. How much of a surprise is

:00:42. > :00:45.this? Doubts started to emerge about his future this morning, when there

:00:46. > :00:49.was talk of Garry Monk, the long serving former captain of the club,

:00:50. > :00:54.being taken on to the coaching staff. We did wonder then whether

:00:55. > :00:57.this would undermine the position of Michael Laudrup. In a statement the

:00:58. > :01:03.chairman said he met with Laudrup today, looking for ways to improve

:01:04. > :01:07.the work of the backroom team. In a final attempt to support him, but he

:01:08. > :01:12.was concerned about the constant uncertainty surrounding the club and

:01:13. > :01:17.Laudrup's future. He's gone tonight. This is what the former Wales and

:01:18. > :01:22.Swansea striker, Ian Morse, told us earlier. I think he would have gone

:01:23. > :01:26.at the end of the season anyway. The results have been for. The attitude

:01:27. > :01:30.of the players has been poor in some regards. The club and the board have

:01:31. > :01:34.said, look, we needed changed quickly to survive in the Premier

:01:35. > :01:40.League. And the club already has a new man in place. Gas, Garry Monk.

:01:41. > :01:45.With the help of another long serving Swans legend, Alan Curtis.

:01:46. > :01:49.He has been appointed for what the club is saying is the foreseeable

:01:50. > :01:54.future. That could mean the rest of this season. This comes on the eve

:01:55. > :01:59.of the big game for the club. I think this is the extraordinary

:02:00. > :02:04.thing, the timing. It is four days before the South Wales Premier

:02:05. > :02:08.League derby against Cardiff City at the Stadium on Saturday night. The

:02:09. > :02:13.biggest league derby that we can remember between these two clubs. It

:02:14. > :02:24.is amazing that the club have taken this decision now. Stormy weather

:02:25. > :02:27.has been causing widespread disruption tonight. A man has been

:02:28. > :02:32.taken to hospital after a tree fell on his truck in the Vale of

:02:33. > :02:35.Glamorgan earlier. The casualty was freed from the vehicle and taken to

:02:36. > :02:40.the Princess Hospital in Bridgend. Elsewhere, a car has crashed into a

:02:41. > :02:43.fallen tree across a road in Pembrokeshire. We will have a full

:02:44. > :02:47.weather forecast for you in a couple of minutes. A woman from Cardiff has

:02:48. > :02:50.been convicted of killing her husband in the Dominican Republic.

:02:51. > :02:54.Nicole Reyes, who's 37 and originally from the Rumney area, has

:02:55. > :02:57.been sentenced to 12 years in jail for manslaughter, by a court in

:02:58. > :03:00.Santiago. The mother of two had claimed she accidentally ran over

:03:01. > :03:07.her husband, when he rode his motorbike next to her car. Her

:03:08. > :03:10.mother says they'll appeal. An investigation has found that a fire

:03:11. > :03:13.at Llandow industrial estate, in the Vale of Glamorgan, where recycled

:03:14. > :03:16.material burnt for more than two weeks last November, was an

:03:17. > :03:19.accident. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service say no criminal

:03:20. > :03:27.charges have been brought and the investigation is now closed. The M4

:03:28. > :03:32.is reopened tonight after being closed for much of the day following

:03:33. > :03:37.a serious accident at Newport. It involved a coach carrying more than

:03:38. > :03:40.50 foreign students. The bus driver and a passenger were airlifted to

:03:41. > :03:52.hospital and 11 others taken by ambulance. Nick Palit reports. A

:03:53. > :03:56.mass of mangled steel and glass, the front of this passenger coach gone,

:03:57. > :04:01.following its impact with a lorry, a crash barrier and a car. The point

:04:02. > :04:07.of impact, a bend just beyond the tunnel. It is what is probably

:04:08. > :04:10.Wales' busiest stretch of motorway. This man was driving to work on the

:04:11. > :04:16.M4 this morning and found himself caught up in the immediate aftermath

:04:17. > :04:19.of the crash. My reaction was to ring 999. I was on the phone to them

:04:20. > :04:23.for a couple of minutes and then they asked me to go out and assess

:04:24. > :04:28.the situation. There was a lady stuck in her car, it was obvious

:04:29. > :04:31.that the bus driver was hurt and needed assistance. I was just trying

:04:32. > :04:42.to report back as quickly as possible, so they could get the

:04:43. > :04:44.right people there as quick as possible. This accident happened

:04:45. > :04:46.just after 9:30am, closing the motorway in both directions hearing

:04:47. > :04:49.Newport for a time. There were 57 passengers on board the cold. The

:04:50. > :04:54.trial # the driver has been airlifted to hospital at Morriston

:04:55. > :04:59.in Swansea. 12 other people received hospital treatment. Two adults were

:05:00. > :05:03.taken to the University Hospital in Cardiff, where their injuries are

:05:04. > :05:09.not life-threatening. Ten others were treated at Newport's Hospital,

:05:10. > :05:14.eight of them students from the bus. They are foreign students. They were

:05:15. > :05:18.in the UK on a tour involving sports, hockey and rugby. We are

:05:19. > :05:22.obtaining full details for them, making sure their next of kin are

:05:23. > :05:27.aware and making sure their welfare and safety is paramount. The Newport

:05:28. > :05:30.Centre was set up as an emergency triage centre. Some of the walking

:05:31. > :05:34.wounded were treated there, while other uninjured students waited for

:05:35. > :05:38.news of their friends in hospital. The M4 was closed in both directions

:05:39. > :05:42.for a number of hours, causing massive tailbacks. Motorists here

:05:43. > :05:47.are used to accidents at this bottleneck and the delays have a

:05:48. > :05:51.serious economic impact. Denied everything is back to normal with

:05:52. > :05:55.traffic flowing freely in both directions. But the crash today has

:05:56. > :06:03.highlighted renewed calls for an M4 relief road to be built as a matter

:06:04. > :06:06.of urgency. At the other end of the country, major delays on the A55

:06:07. > :06:09.near the Britannia Bridge on Anglesey, after a lorry overturned.

:06:10. > :06:12.The incident happened before the morning rush hour and led to the

:06:13. > :06:16.closure of part of the westbound section of the road for several

:06:17. > :06:19.hours. A crane was used to remove the lorry Rugby and Wales captain

:06:20. > :06:26.Sam Warburton is back to lead the side for Saturday's Six Nations

:06:27. > :06:30.clash with Ireland in Dublin. He returns along with fellow forwards

:06:31. > :06:41.Gethin Jenkins and Andrew Coombs. Wales began their campaign with a

:06:42. > :06:46.23-15 win over Italy. One of the attributes that Sam has is effecting

:06:47. > :06:52.turnovers, getting penalties. He's as good as anyone in the world are

:06:53. > :06:58.doing that. We expect him to get on the ball on Saturday and hopefully

:06:59. > :06:59.he can create a few turnovers for us.

:07:00. > :07:03.The weather is again causing problems tonight. Western Power

:07:04. > :07:06.Distribution says it currently has 1,300 customers in west, south and

:07:07. > :07:09.mid Wales without power. Engineers are working to fix the faults in

:07:10. > :07:13.areas including Haverfordwest, Builth Wells and around Cardiff.

:07:14. > :07:17.Fallen trees and structural damage all make for a pretty awful night.

:07:18. > :07:27.Let's get the forecast from Benaz. Awful is a great way of describing

:07:28. > :07:35.it. Terrible weather to come tonight and much more to come towards the

:07:36. > :07:39.end of the week. As we go through the graphics tonight, there is a

:07:40. > :07:44.warning for the wind. You need to be aware, the potential for further

:07:45. > :07:50.trees to fall down and also further electric lines as well. Gusts up to

:07:51. > :08:01.60 mph along the coastal areas. Inland, gusts of 50 mph.

:08:02. > :08:07.Those blustery conditions will continue overnight. The main rain

:08:08. > :08:11.band will clear but then behind it we've got those squally showers.

:08:12. > :08:15.Very little break from the wet and windy weather. Temperatures getting

:08:16. > :08:20.down to around four Celsius. This deep area of low pressure is

:08:21. > :08:24.responsible. It brings very strong winds. We have another one waiting

:08:25. > :08:27.out in the winds. If that wasn't enough, there's also another one

:08:28. > :08:33.behind that. Terrible weather to come before the end of the week.

:08:34. > :08:38.Tomorrow morning is going to be very unpleasant. Squally showers, gusty

:08:39. > :08:43.conditions continuing. Mainly for areas anywhere south of Aberystwyth.

:08:44. > :08:48.For the rest of the UK we do have a yellow warning for Scotland for the

:08:49. > :08:51.rain. Then for the wind there is a yellow warning for Northern Ireland

:08:52. > :08:55.and southern and western parts of the British Isles. The squally

:08:56. > :08:59.showers continuing and we could see more damaging winds and some coastal

:09:00. > :09:07.flooding possible, especially at the times of high water. Fairly mild for

:09:08. > :09:12.the time of year. Tomorrow, very little change. Squally showers

:09:13. > :09:15.continuing to pack in from the west. They will really give us some

:09:16. > :09:20.terrible conditions into the rush-hour as well. Tomorrow night,

:09:21. > :09:24.the showers continuing. By the overnight period we will get a brief

:09:25. > :09:29.break. You are showers and the winds easing a bit, which will give us an

:09:30. > :09:33.OK start first thing on Thursday morning. Some sunshine, a few

:09:34. > :09:37.showers. Make the most of it, as by Thursday evening we will see the

:09:38. > :09:42.arrival of the next rain band. That will clear through by early Friday

:09:43. > :09:44.morning, we can look forward to some sunshine through Friday, but more

:09:45. > :09:51.wet and windy weather in time for Saturday. We will have the aftermath

:09:52. > :09:53.on that storm damage tomorrow. We'll have the latest news and sport,

:09:54. > :09:56.traffic reports and weather updates in Breakfast from 6am tomorrow.

:09:57. > :09:59.That's Wales Today. From me, goodnight.
