:00:18. > :00:22.Good evening. They're facing a repair bill running into millions.

:00:23. > :00:25.Today, council concerns about who's going to pay for the damage caused

:00:26. > :00:29.by winter storms were taken straight to the Welsh Government. The Natural

:00:30. > :00:34.Resources Minister was visiting Deganwy on the North Wales Coast.

:00:35. > :00:41.But Alun Davies stopped short of announcing any extra money for

:00:42. > :00:47.repairs. Roger Pinney reports. Here, for once, a relatively calm

:00:48. > :00:52.day, but on Deganwy prom, plenty of evidence caused by the storms. Here

:00:53. > :00:55.to see it, the Welsh Government environment minister. Local

:00:56. > :01:02.politicians were quick to get to the point. Worldview announce further

:01:03. > :01:10.funding? We have announced funding for this financial year. -- will you

:01:11. > :01:15.announce further funding? ?2 million, with respect... The county

:01:16. > :01:19.council knows the situation. The damage has been put up ?5 million.

:01:20. > :01:25.Here local people know where they think the money should come from.

:01:26. > :01:34.Who should pay for it? I believe the Government should pay for it, the

:01:35. > :01:42.Government. They find money for other things. But Wales or

:01:43. > :01:46.Westminster? Still the big question remains. Minister, it is not just

:01:47. > :01:52.here. There is damage right around the Welsh coastline. Is there going

:01:53. > :01:56.to be any money over and above the money you have already announced? We

:01:57. > :02:00.have already announced money for emergency repairs and that is

:02:01. > :02:05.happening at the moment. Engineers are working on the coastal defences.

:02:06. > :02:11.We are down in a situation whereby we are assessing this damage for the

:02:12. > :02:18.long-term. Our reserves will not cover this devastation. And it is

:02:19. > :02:25.not just here. Up and down Wales, councils are beginning to count the

:02:26. > :02:29.cost of the damage. Pictures of storms lashing the Brom in

:02:30. > :02:35.Aberystwyth have appeared in the media. Here they are already looking

:02:36. > :02:41.at a bill in excess of ?1.5 million. In Pembrokeshire, the authority

:02:42. > :02:45.estimates at least half ?1 million of damage has been done. And that is

:02:46. > :02:49.unlikely to be the end of it. This business of who pays the bills is

:02:50. > :02:58.turning into a political row. Up until today the wealth of mid have

:02:59. > :03:04.promised ?3 million, but should the UK Government help, too? -- up until

:03:05. > :03:09.today the Welsh Government have promised ?3 million. In England, the

:03:10. > :03:15.UK Government today pledged an additional ?30 million added to the

:03:16. > :03:20.?130 million already set aside for local authorities there. Devolved or

:03:21. > :03:27.not, the Welsh and UK governments are known to be talking but the

:03:28. > :03:30.storms keep rolling in. Police are carrying out

:03:31. > :03:32.investigations at a school in Cardiff whose deputy head teacher,

:03:33. > :03:35.Gareth Williams, has already admitted hiding a camera to film

:03:36. > :03:38.children in a toilet. Those offences took place elsewhere - now

:03:39. > :03:40.detectives have been given full access to Ysgol Glantaf, where he

:03:41. > :03:43.worked. The family of a prisoner at Parc

:03:44. > :03:47.Prison in Bridgend were wrongly informed that he had died. G4S, the

:03:48. > :03:50.security firm which runs the prison, says it will apologise. The incident

:03:51. > :03:56.follows the death of a different prisoner at the start of the month.

:03:57. > :04:00.A man from Tenby has been found guilty of murdering a woman, after

:04:01. > :04:03.stabbing her 40 times. Joanna Hall survived for three weeks after the

:04:04. > :04:08.attack, which happened at her home last March. During that time, she

:04:09. > :04:11.was able to tell the police what had happened. Miss Hall's family

:04:12. > :04:22.described Williams as an "evil monster". Cemlyn Davies reports.

:04:23. > :04:25.She is a murder victim who was able to tell the police who was

:04:26. > :04:30.responsible, and to date Joanna Hall's killer was wrought to

:04:31. > :04:35.justice. Afterwards, the statement was read out on behalf of her

:04:36. > :04:41.family. Nothing will bring her back or change the heinous things he did

:04:42. > :04:47.to her. Unfortunately, we now have to live with that for the rest of

:04:48. > :04:51.our lives. Steven Williams is an evil monster who needs to be locked

:04:52. > :04:57.away so that he can hurt no one else in the same way as Joe. Joanna Hall

:04:58. > :05:01.died three weeks after she was stabbed by even Williams at her home

:05:02. > :05:06.in Tenby. The pair were known to each other and the court heard they

:05:07. > :05:11.had slept together several times. Steven Williams had never denied

:05:12. > :05:14.being with Joanna Hall that night but the self-confessed alcoholic

:05:15. > :05:17.said he had popped out to buy whiskey from a local supermarket

:05:18. > :05:23.when the attack happened and that by the time he returned to the flat,

:05:24. > :05:27.Miss Hall was lying on the floor, bleeding excessively. But the

:05:28. > :05:30.prosecution argued this CCTV footage shows there was already a

:05:31. > :05:35.significant amount of blood and Williams' clothes when he went to

:05:36. > :05:39.the shop. The jury was also told his fingerprints were found on a knife

:05:40. > :05:45.in the apartment, and the court heard Williams said to miss call,

:05:46. > :05:56.will you just die? -- said to Joanna Hall. These moment shows when the

:05:57. > :06:00.paramedics arrived, with Williams in handcuffs. It took the jury eight

:06:01. > :06:05.and a quarter hours to reach a majority verdict, with ten jurors

:06:06. > :06:11.agreed Steven Williams was guilty of murder. Steven Williams showed no

:06:12. > :06:15.emotion as the verdict was delivered. In the public gallery,

:06:16. > :06:20.Joanna Hall's mother and sister, in court throughout the trial, burst

:06:21. > :06:24.into tears, and other members of her family embraced as they left court.

:06:25. > :06:30.Steven Williams will be sentenced either tomorrow or on Monday.

:06:31. > :06:33.A review is under way into the Cardiff Airport Shuttle Bus after it

:06:34. > :06:36.was revealed that the bus has carried, on average, fewer than four

:06:37. > :06:39.passengers per journey since its launch last August. The service,

:06:40. > :06:42.funded by the Welsh Government and the Vale of Glamorgan Council was

:06:43. > :06:47.used by around 2,800 people every week up until January this year.

:06:48. > :06:51.466,000 people listen to BBC Radio Wales every week, according to the

:06:52. > :06:54.latest figures. That's slightly down on the previous three months, but

:06:55. > :07:06.30,000 more than this time last year. 140,000 people listen to Radio

:07:07. > :07:09.Cymru every week. Former Swansea City manager Michael

:07:10. > :07:12.Laudrup says he's taking legal advice after being sacked by the

:07:13. > :07:15.club. He issued a statement, just before his successor Garry Monk's

:07:16. > :07:18.first press conference. The club captain, who's now been made head

:07:19. > :07:24.coach, says he would do anything to help the club. He also says he'd

:07:25. > :07:29.like to do the job on a permanent basis.

:07:30. > :07:35.As an ultimate aim it would always be great to manage this club. It

:07:36. > :07:42.would be one of the proudest things I could do. OK, it has not happened

:07:43. > :07:46.the way I thought it would, but I could not be proud of. But the focus

:07:47. > :07:46.is on the players and the game this weekend.

:07:47. > :07:57.The weather. I think we have seen enough rain to

:07:58. > :08:00.last us a lifetime, and there is more on the way. A weather warning

:08:01. > :08:07.in force, an amber warning for strong wind and gales and yellow for

:08:08. > :08:13.rain. More rain to come tonight. A bit of snow on high ground in mid

:08:14. > :08:16.Wales and the North. The wind is picking up tonight as well with

:08:17. > :08:20.temperatures staying above freezing. Tomorrow morning it is an improving

:08:21. > :08:25.story. The rain and hill snow will disappear and the whole country will

:08:26. > :08:29.become dry and bright. Some sunshine for a change. Across the West of the

:08:30. > :08:32.UK, warnings in force across southern counties of England but the

:08:33. > :08:36.weather will improve as we go through the day, turning drier and

:08:37. > :08:43.brighter. Some sunshine and just a few showers. 3pm in Wales tomorrow

:08:44. > :08:47.afternoon, still some dry weather and sunshine in the North East, but

:08:48. > :08:51.a few showers will spread from the South West mid to late afternoon and

:08:52. > :08:55.you will notice the wind picking up as well. Tomorrow evening turning

:08:56. > :09:03.wet and windy. Another spell of heavy rain clearing to showers after

:09:04. > :09:08.midnight. Saturday will continue very windy. The South and West coast

:09:09. > :09:14.will bear the brunt of the gales. Plenty of rain and heavy showers.

:09:15. > :09:18.Snow on the mountains. So Saturday's chart looks very stormy.

:09:19. > :09:23.A deep area of low pressure centred over Ireland but tides not quite so

:09:24. > :09:27.high this weekend. Nevertheless, some big waves are expected,

:09:28. > :09:30.particularly in the South West, with the risk of further flooding on

:09:31. > :09:37.parts of the coast, especially in Pembrokeshire. It remains unsettled

:09:38. > :09:44.on Sunday. Mr Monday is, but it looks like low-pressure Wilson bring

:09:45. > :09:45.another -- Monday looks, but it looks like low-pressure will bring

:09:46. > :09:57.more stormy weather afterwards. Newsnight is starting on BBC Two

:09:58. > :10:00.Wales. We will have the latest for you in Breakfast from 6:25am.
