:00:18. > :00:21.Good evening. It's been a highly respected name in the Welsh

:00:22. > :00:24.construction industry but tonight most of the Macob empire has

:00:25. > :00:31.collapsed, with the loss of 145 jobs. It's been operating since

:00:32. > :00:38.1981. In that time, it's built over 12,000 homes and more than 200 miles

:00:39. > :00:40.of road. The company owns Cardiff's historic Coal Exchange, but

:00:41. > :00:43.development plans for that iconic building won't be affected by

:00:44. > :00:48.today's announcement. Here's our business correspondent, Brian

:00:49. > :00:57.Meechan. The sign on the door of Macob's

:00:58. > :01:00.headquarters in Cardiff told its own story, administration and the losses

:01:01. > :01:06.that good with it. The company has ceased trading -- trading which

:01:07. > :01:09.means jobs have been lost. The company owns the historic Coal

:01:10. > :01:14.Exchange, popular love music menu which is being developed into office

:01:15. > :01:21.spake -- a popular live music venue which is being developed into office

:01:22. > :01:26.space. Other parts of the business are less certain. Macob has been

:01:27. > :01:31.marketing this 200,000 square feet business Park. Many involve in the

:01:32. > :01:38.construction sector has been surprised by the construction

:01:39. > :01:44.company's closure. I have no record for very many years, so I am sad

:01:45. > :01:50.that it has happened. -- I have known Macob for many years. The

:01:51. > :01:53.company is changing. It was involved in the construction of the St Davids

:01:54. > :01:56.Hospital in Cardiff, a state-of-the-art facility opened ten

:01:57. > :02:02.years ago. The construction industry has been badly hit by the economic

:02:03. > :02:07.crisis. In the last few years, Macob says going into administration is a

:02:08. > :02:10.result of tough trading conditions. There are signs of a positive future

:02:11. > :02:15.for construction. The industry is set to grow by 3.4% each year

:02:16. > :02:19.between now and 2018. That is the second-highest rate in the UK. That

:02:20. > :02:24.is mainly down to big infrastructure projects including a new nuclear

:02:25. > :02:28.power station on Anglesey. Always 18,000 new jobs are expected to be

:02:29. > :02:31.created over the next few years. The Welsh government specialist panel on

:02:32. > :02:34.construction says, we should not read anything into the state of the

:02:35. > :02:39.industry generally from the fortunes of this one company. At the moment

:02:40. > :02:45.it is in a very competitive market. The house-building sector is leading

:02:46. > :02:48.the way, there are positive statistics from there. Positive

:02:49. > :02:51.results from there. Commercially, it is still a very difficult and

:02:52. > :02:57.competitive market. So regrettably we are seeing companies failing, and

:02:58. > :03:02.that is not a surprise at this moment in time. This is allowed --

:03:03. > :03:06.this is the end for a large part of the Macob business, even if some

:03:07. > :03:09.small parts have been salvaged. All these are worrying and uncertain

:03:10. > :03:12.times by former workers, the hope is job opportunities could arise in

:03:13. > :03:14.other companies as the construction sector expands.

:03:15. > :03:15.other companies as the construction A 38-year-old woman has been charged

:03:16. > :03:18.in connection with indecent images of children, as part of the

:03:19. > :03:21.investigation into the jailed Lostprophets singer, Ian Watkins.

:03:22. > :03:23.Joanne Mjadzelics is accused of seven offences, including four

:03:24. > :03:28.counts of possessing and two of distributing an indecent image.

:03:29. > :03:31.She's been bailed and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates court

:03:32. > :03:34.later this month. Watkins, from Pontypridd, was jailed for 29 years

:03:35. > :03:41.last December, after admitting a catalogue of serious sex offences

:03:42. > :03:44.involving children. Councillors in Powys have voted

:03:45. > :03:49.through their budget for the next financial year including a 4.5% rise

:03:50. > :03:52.in council tax. Protestors once again gathered outside the meeting

:03:53. > :03:58.where ?20 million worth of cuts was approved. It will mean the loss of

:03:59. > :04:01.around 400 jobs. Hundreds of people, angry at

:04:02. > :04:05.proposals to close a special care baby unit in Haverfordwest, took

:04:06. > :04:08.their protest to Cardiff Bay today. They say moving the unit from

:04:09. > :04:12.Withybush hospital to Carmarthen will lead to lives being lost. The

:04:13. > :04:17.Welsh government says the changes will provide the best possible care

:04:18. > :04:20.for mothers and babies. Tourism facilities in north Wales,

:04:21. > :04:25.damaged in this winter's storms, are to get money to repair them from the

:04:26. > :04:28.Welsh Government. In Rhyl where 130 homes were flooded in December,

:04:29. > :04:30.?250,000 will be spent on projects including beach access, while Conwy

:04:31. > :04:42.council is getting nearly ?500,000 to help restore Deganwy promenade.

:04:43. > :04:48.There the authority says it wouldn't be able to do the work without

:04:49. > :04:51.financial help: I have been inundated with people asking what is

:04:52. > :04:57.happening with the gangway. It is very much used for recreational

:04:58. > :05:02.walking, cycling, leisure, it is an integral part of the tourism here.

:05:03. > :05:05.So you have to restore it? Absolutely, this is not an option.

:05:06. > :05:09.What we have behind a total devastation.

:05:10. > :05:13.Football and Match of the Day Wales is on later so if you don't want to

:05:14. > :05:17.know the result of tonight's game, now's the time to leave the room.

:05:18. > :05:21.And Gareth Bale led Wales to a 3-1 win over Iceland. His free kick

:05:22. > :05:24.making it easy for James Collins to put the home side ahead. But,

:05:25. > :05:28.Iceland were soon back level, a shot from Gudmundsson came off captain

:05:29. > :05:33.Ashley Williams to make it 1-1 for half-time. And it was Bale who

:05:34. > :05:36.created the chances after the break. His cross giving Sam Vokes an easy

:05:37. > :05:42.header, before he scored the final goal himself to make it 3-1 at

:05:43. > :05:46.fulltime. And don't forget you can see all the highlights in Match of

:05:47. > :05:51.the Day Wales at 11.20pm, over on BBC Two Wales.

:05:52. > :05:54.Rugby, and Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies has been recalled to the

:05:55. > :05:57.Wales team for Sunday's Six Nations clash against England. Davies has

:05:58. > :06:01.only played two half-matches for his region since a serious chest injury

:06:02. > :06:10.last November. Here's Ashleigh Crowter.

:06:11. > :06:14.He has been the missing link in Wales 's line during the current Six

:06:15. > :06:18.Nations. Against England, with Jonathan Davies restored, the

:06:19. > :06:24.chamber once again be complete. Before he got injured, he was Wales

:06:25. > :06:29.most improved player. A threat in attack and defence, which led to

:06:30. > :06:32.Lions selection. He has not played whole match since that South Africa

:06:33. > :06:40.test in November where he tore a chest muscle off the bone, but now

:06:41. > :06:43.he is fit, Warren Gatland let the chance to pick him. He is a

:06:44. > :06:46.world-class player, it is not difficult for us to make the call.

:06:47. > :06:50.Jonathan has been doing a lot of training in the last five weeks. He

:06:51. > :06:55.has probably been doing too much, he is ready to go. In terms of being

:06:56. > :07:01.fit, he is very sharp at the moment. He had not had a lot of rugby. The

:07:02. > :07:10.line-up from Saturday starts -- include 11 players who started last

:07:11. > :07:16.year. Alun Wyn Jones missed the France game, and other than him, he

:07:17. > :07:23.is the same -- it is the same pack. Rhys Webb is partnering Rhys

:07:24. > :07:28.Priestland, who can walk -- look forward to working with Jonathan

:07:29. > :07:31.Davies in midfield. He will be the part of the potent three quarters

:07:32. > :07:36.division who all one test caps for the Lions this summer.

:07:37. > :07:38.division who all one test caps for quality player. He really

:07:39. > :07:42.established itself as a fantastic player in the summer, and I think we

:07:43. > :07:46.have played more times together than any other Welsh partnership for

:07:47. > :07:52.Wales. We know each other's game inside out. That confidence

:07:53. > :07:56.alongside John will bring out the best in our attack and defence.

:07:57. > :08:02.England named their team on Friday morning. It is likely to bear a

:08:03. > :08:07.close resemblance to the one that beat Ireland.

:08:08. > :08:13.After the UK's wettest winter on record, we are on course for the

:08:14. > :08:17.driest and warmest stretch of weather since last autumn. Before

:08:18. > :08:22.that, cloudy with some drizzle. That will thicken across Wales, misty and

:08:23. > :08:25.murky with patchy rain. The cloud holding up the temperatures, so much

:08:26. > :08:34.less Colbourne last night. Overnight lows of six to eight Celsius. --

:08:35. > :08:40.much less cold than last night. Topics of rain on and off tomorrow,

:08:41. > :08:46.across the UK, it is North, West, no -- North/west, South/East split. It

:08:47. > :08:49.is Misty and murky with somewhere else across Scotland, Northern

:08:50. > :08:53.Ireland and the North West of England. Across Wales, overcast,

:08:54. > :09:01.Dell and Dub afternoon. More dry further east.

:09:02. > :09:11.It is this waving weather front bringing the thicker cloud and rain.

:09:12. > :09:15.It could turn heavy for a time, especially across North and West

:09:16. > :09:20.Wales, Thursday night into Friday morning. Some rain turning drizzly

:09:21. > :09:23.and cloudy, brightening up through the day on Friday. Breezy and

:09:24. > :09:27.staying mild. This low pressure system is being pushed back

:09:28. > :09:31.northwards by high pressure building from the South on Saturday. These

:09:32. > :09:37.isobars straighten out meaning the winds turn more southerly, drawing

:09:38. > :09:41.up warm air from the Azores. Tomorrow and Friday, cloudy, rain

:09:42. > :09:46.and brightness. Then a cold start on Saturday, turning milder, warmer by

:09:47. > :09:50.day. Not always sunny. We could see some overnight frosts.

:09:51. > :09:55.Next, Carwyn Jones on the future course of devolution. That is all

:09:56. > :09:58.from us.
