0:00:21 > 0:00:24has been hearing from some of his alleged victims. The jury at Preston

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Crown Court was told Mr Evans put his hands down the trousers of two

0:00:29 > 0:00:32men and tried to kiss another. Mr Evans, who was Shadow Secretary of

0:00:33 > 0:00:36State for Wales at the time, is charged with sexual assaulting seven

0:00:37 > 0:00:42men and denies indecent assault, sexual assault and rape.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45A number of the allegations against the former Deputy Speaker of the

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Commons are believed to have happened when he was Shadow

0:00:49 > 0:00:50Secretary of State for Wales over ten years ago.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Today, the court heard about some of those incidents.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58The first witness who can't be named for legal reasons, a Westminster

0:00:59 > 0:01:03worker. He described a night out he had with Mr Evans and others at a

0:01:04 > 0:01:07bar in Soho in London in 2002. During that night, he claimed Mr

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Evans put his hand down the back of his trousers on two separate

0:01:11 > 0:01:14occasions. The witness told the jury "he was

0:01:15 > 0:01:18annoyed but he put it down to Mr Evans being drunk". He told the

0:01:19 > 0:01:23court "it was just one of those things". The second witness, a party

0:01:24 > 0:01:27worker at the time, alleged Mr Evans put his hand around the top of his

0:01:28 > 0:01:32trousers and moved it to the front twice. The court heard it happened

0:01:33 > 0:01:34at a bar when evening at the Conservative Party Conference in

0:01:35 > 0:01:39Blackpool during the same year. He said he was angry and embarrassed

0:01:40 > 0:01:44and that Mr Evants was heavily intoxicated and he'd gone too far

0:01:45 > 0:01:48but didn't want to make a fuss -- Mr Evans. No formal complaint was made.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52The first witness told the court he didn't believe he was a victim of

0:01:53 > 0:01:57crime. The second said he didn't consider what happened to him to be

0:01:58 > 0:02:03a criminal sexual assault. Today, both said that view hadn't changed.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06At the end of the day two, the court started hearing from a third witness

0:02:07 > 0:02:11who also worked in Westminster. The jury heard Mr Evans tried to kiss

0:02:12 > 0:02:14him at a drinks event at the Strangers Bar in the Houses of

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Parliament. Over the next few weeks, the trial is expected to hear from a

0:02:19 > 0:02:23number of high profile politicians. The prosecution witnesses include

0:02:24 > 0:02:27the speaker of the Commons, John Bercow and former MP bell lit Opik.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32Mr Evans, who grew up in Swansea, denies all the charges against him

0:02:33 > 0:02:38and the case continues -- Lembit Opik. The funeral's taken place of

0:02:39 > 0:02:43the six day old baby who died at home in Pontyberem in

0:02:44 > 0:02:48Carmarthenshire where two dogs were seized and destroyed.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Eliza-Mae Mullane's parents gathered with friends at the Holy Cross

0:02:53 > 0:02:55Catholic Church for the service. The baby died last month after an

0:02:56 > 0:03:06incident at her home. The cause of her death is not yet known.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10The WJC has launched an investigation after dozens of heads

0:03:11 > 0:03:14complained about unexpectedly low grades for the new GCSE English

0:03:15 > 0:03:19language exams. They are also planning to provide additional

0:03:20 > 0:03:24support sessions for head teachers. A racing circuit attracting

0:03:25 > 0:03:28international motor spot to the South Wales Valleys is bringing much

0:03:29 > 0:03:31needed jobs. That is the vision. BBC Wales discovered the new Circuit of

0:03:32 > 0:03:36Wales racetrack may receive ?30 million from the Welsh Government.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40Questions are being asked whether the track near Ebbw value can be

0:03:41 > 0:03:45built in time to win a contract for an international motor racing vent

0:03:46 > 0:03:49seen as vital to the development. Will the proposed circuit ever goat

0:03:50 > 0:03:53the starting gritted? Week In Week Out investigates after this

0:03:54 > 0:04:06bulletin. -- get -- ever get the starting --

0:04:07 > 0:04:15ever get to the starting grid. The football results:

0:04:16 > 0:04:22And rugby: Robin McBryde says there'll be one change for

0:04:23 > 0:04:28Saturday's final Six Nations match against Scotland after Lee Halfpenny

0:04:29 > 0:04:34dues located his shoulder. Rees Webb and others could be available

0:04:35 > 0:04:37despite recent injuries. That expectancy surely will have grown

0:04:38 > 0:04:42for the last home match against Scotland and we can't shy away from

0:04:43 > 0:04:48it. We've got to answer a few questions and we can only do that on

0:04:49 > 0:04:53the field. We are going to focus on some of the opportunities we missed

0:04:54 > 0:05:06out on and the areas we need toe work on. After all that stormy

0:05:07 > 0:05:12weather that dominated, a leg bone has been found buried in the cliff.

0:05:13 > 0:05:17The latest discovery caused by cliff erosion has revealed two human leg

0:05:18 > 0:05:23bones. Recent storms revealing the past.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28These remains are believed to be thighbones possibly dating back 400

0:05:29 > 0:05:36years. The lower leg showed a lot of muscular wear... Rowena and Paul are

0:05:37 > 0:05:41archaeologists. When the waves and the weather battered this coastline

0:05:42 > 0:05:46in the New Year, it unearthed more bones and more questions into who

0:05:47 > 0:05:49they could belong to. The scientific analysis that we have

0:05:50 > 0:05:55had done so far suggests that these people are all male. So is it

0:05:56 > 0:06:00possibly a shipwreck this coastline is a treacherous area of the sea.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Also, they could be aassociationiated with St Mary's

0:06:05 > 0:06:08church in the village and when the graveyard became full, they were

0:06:09 > 0:06:12looking for somewhere else to bury the local people and this could be

0:06:13 > 0:06:17the spot they chose. It was the surfers making the most of the coast

0:06:18 > 0:06:21today but there could be at least ten graves along this cliff edge and

0:06:22 > 0:06:25possibly many more buried further back. These were shallow graves

0:06:26 > 0:06:29about a metre deep, not just for one, but there could have been three

0:06:30 > 0:06:32bodies buried inside with their heads facing the coast. The rest of

0:06:33 > 0:06:35the bones have been lost to the sea and it's only the leg bones

0:06:36 > 0:06:38remaining. When a walker discovered skull

0:06:39 > 0:06:45fragments and teeth after the storms in January, it was a rare find.

0:06:46 > 0:06:50Those bones are now being studied in detail by archaeologists in Swansea.

0:06:51 > 0:06:55The most interesting bits we have is this. Fur able to see, we have these

0:06:56 > 0:07:01lines which are Harris lines, they are lines of where the individual

0:07:02 > 0:07:05may have been ill or suffered malnutrition, especially at a young

0:07:06 > 0:07:09age. That gives us a better idea of what the individual went through.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13Once the remains have been analysed, they'll be give tonne the local

0:07:14 > 0:07:17parish church of St Mary's for reburial in the church yard. The

0:07:18 > 0:07:20same will apply to these bones which will be removed by archaeologists in

0:07:21 > 0:07:25the next month. The weather forecast for Wales now:

0:07:26 > 0:07:28Thank you very much. Good evening. Certainly no sign of any storms

0:07:29 > 0:07:32heading our way in the near future. The rest of this week is going to

0:07:33 > 0:07:36stay dry and settled thanks to high pressure. Some more lovely sunshine

0:07:37 > 0:07:42for you, but watch out for some mist and fog patches. So staying dry

0:07:43 > 0:07:47tonight then. There Beale some low cluend mist forming. But where the

0:07:48 > 0:07:50sky does he remain clear, for example in parts of the north and

0:07:51 > 0:07:54west, it will be cold enough for a frost. High pressure over Denmark

0:07:55 > 0:07:57and the UK, keeping the country generally dry. Mixed fortunes

0:07:58 > 0:08:03tomorrow morning. It will be dry with sunshine in parts of the north

0:08:04 > 0:08:07and west. Elsewhere, low cloud and mist that will tend to brighten up

0:08:08 > 0:08:11gradually. The rest of the UK, most places dry, mist and fog patches in

0:08:12 > 0:08:17the north lifting. Some lovely sunshine in Newcastle. Low cloud in

0:08:18 > 0:08:21the south will tend to shrink during the day, turning out brighter in the

0:08:22 > 0:08:25south. Sunshine in London with a high of 14, perhaps few spots of

0:08:26 > 0:08:30light rain in the very far North West. Should be a nice afternoon and

0:08:31 > 0:08:37for most of Wales, lovely sunshine. Perhaps a few watches of cloud

0:08:38 > 0:08:41lingering along the border. Tomorrow night, the dry weather continues.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46Some mist and fog patches forming and a chance of a touch of frost

0:08:47 > 0:08:50again where the sky remains clear. A foggy start for some on Thursday.

0:08:51 > 0:09:01That will slowly lift and many areas will brighten up with some sunshine.

0:09:02 > 0:09:06A few patches of cloud. A high of. -- a high of 13. It's looking dry

0:09:07 > 0:09:09and the odd spot of drizzle and no significant rain. Enjoy the dry

0:09:10 > 0:09:13weather. Thank you very much. It's 30 years

0:09:14 > 0:09:17since the miners' strike. In tomorrow's programme, we'll be

0:09:18 > 0:09:21finding out how the year-long industrial dispute affected

0:09:22 > 0:09:24communities right across Wales. We'll talk about how it still

0:09:25 > 0:09:32resonates with form erminers and their families three decades on.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35I think a lot of us realised it was something that we couldn't win. It

0:09:36 > 0:09:39was never envisaged that we could win it. At the same time, there was

0:09:40 > 0:09:43nothing else we could do. If we sat down and did nothing, we were going

0:09:44 > 0:09:46to go anyway so we had to fight, for the jobs, not for wages or better

0:09:47 > 0:09:51conditions, it was just about the jobs. More on the miners' strike 30

0:09:52 > 0:09:52years on tomorrow. That is Wales Today today. Thank you for watching.

0:09:53 > 0:10:02Goodbye. Cobb faces death by lethal

0:10:03 > 0:10:05injection on Thursday... I'm an unregenerable

0:10:06 > 0:10:09speck of cancer that needs to be
