:00:16. > :00:20.Good evening. The Royal College of Nursing says staff feel demoralised

:00:21. > :00:24.and frustrated that an investigation into the death of the husband of

:00:25. > :00:27.Labour MP, Ann Clwyd, hasn't been made public. Ms Clwyd claims Owen

:00:28. > :00:30.Roberts was treated with coldness and indifference, but won't share

:00:31. > :00:33.the report into the care he received. Our Political

:00:34. > :00:43.Correspondent, Tomos Livingstone, reports.

:00:44. > :00:47.Ann Clwyd has been at the centre of a political storm for several days.

:00:48. > :00:51.The first minister accused her of having no evidence to back up the

:00:52. > :00:56.criticisms of the Welsh NHS. She claims her husband was treated like

:00:57. > :01:00.a battery hen at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. But

:01:01. > :01:05.now that is a row over whether a report into via case should be made

:01:06. > :01:11.public. The Royal job nurses says their members feel frustrated. It is

:01:12. > :01:15.equally frustrating to them and demoralising. If you are a nurse and

:01:16. > :01:22.I going not into work at a hospital which is constantly on the news, and

:01:23. > :01:26.you don't know what the formal complaints process is demonstrating,

:01:27. > :01:30.then of course you are going to be concerned. Ann Clwyd says she does

:01:31. > :01:34.not want information about the case released and says the complaint

:01:35. > :01:38.process is not over. She wants an independent review into Welsh

:01:39. > :01:45.hospitals and is not about to stop speaking out. Even if the Labour

:01:46. > :01:53.colleagues are an easy. It should not be a party blew the Gulf of all.

:01:54. > :01:59.I have said that from the start. -- it should not be a party political

:02:00. > :02:07.football. It is an issue for everyone. As long as I am an elected

:02:08. > :02:11.representative, I shall speak out. The Welsh Government said tonight it

:02:12. > :02:14.had received information from the MP that it wasn't enough to investigate

:02:15. > :02:19.allegations. Cardiff and Vale health board seat the latest Metallica

:02:20. > :02:29.rates have shown an improvement since Ann Clwyd first raised the

:02:30. > :02:32.concerns. -- mortality rates. Also today, the Welsh Government's

:02:33. > :02:35.Deputy Chief Medical Officer has said Welsh hospitals "are probably

:02:36. > :02:38.the most scrutinised and inspected" of any in the UK. It comes as new

:02:39. > :02:41.statistics on hospital mortality rates are published.

:02:42. > :02:43.A woman has denied seven charges relating to indecent images of

:02:44. > :02:46.children at Cardiff Magistrates Court. The court heard the charges

:02:47. > :02:49.against Joanne Mjadzelics came to light as part of an investigation

:02:50. > :02:53.into Ian Watkins, the former singer in the band Lostprophets. She will

:02:54. > :02:55.appear at Cardiff Crown Court next month.

:02:56. > :02:58.Two men from Ceredigion are facing charges relating to mislabelling

:02:59. > :03:01.goat meat as lamb or mutton. Dafydd Raw-Rees, the owner of Farmbox Meats

:03:02. > :03:04.near Aberystwyth, and employee, Colin Patterson, will face 19

:03:05. > :03:11.charges under the Food Safety Act. They're due to appear before

:03:12. > :03:15.magistrates next month. A man has been arrested on suspicion

:03:16. > :03:19.of murder following the death of a man in Cardiff earlier this week.

:03:20. > :03:28.The body of David Alun Lewis from Ystrad Mynach was found partially

:03:29. > :03:31.submerged in the River Taff. In the shadow of the Millennium

:03:32. > :03:36.Stadium the investigation continues. Specialist divers searching the

:03:37. > :03:42.river for any clues to what happened here. Other officers combing the

:03:43. > :03:46.river bank along the water 's edge in their search for the weapon that

:03:47. > :03:51.killed 45-year-old David Alun Lewis. His family described him as a

:03:52. > :03:56.good and decent man, highly intelligent and talented musician.

:03:57. > :04:03.David Alun Lewis was found just before midnight on Wednesday. Police

:04:04. > :04:08.say he had significant head injuries and they are awaiting the results of

:04:09. > :04:13.a postmortem examination. Police today arrested a 28-year-old man on

:04:14. > :04:19.suspicion of his murder. Mr Lewis was last seen on CCTV with another

:04:20. > :04:25.man walking past this storage company. They are appealing for

:04:26. > :04:30.witnesses and say he was wearing a navy anorak, jeans and a light

:04:31. > :04:38.coloured baseball cap. We are keen to establish whether any members of

:04:39. > :04:46.the public on Wednesday the 19th of March may have seen all witnessed

:04:47. > :04:51.any altercation. Mr Lewis lived with his parents in Ystrad Mynach but

:04:52. > :05:02.often stayed in Cardiff, no chapter for the homeless less than a mile

:05:03. > :05:06.from where his body was found. Customs officers have seized what is

:05:07. > :05:11.believed to be the largest haul of illicit alcohol discovered in Wales.

:05:12. > :05:14.A man from Cardiff has been arrested. More than ?169,000 worth

:05:15. > :05:17.of beer, wine and spirits was found. The haul is worth ?303,000 in lost

:05:18. > :05:20.duty and tax. The number of people with scarlet

:05:21. > :05:23.fever has increased, with 139 cases recorded in Wales since January.

:05:24. > :05:27.That's double the number seen during the same period last year. Swansea

:05:28. > :05:30.has the highest number of cases with 24 people affected. Scarlet fever

:05:31. > :05:34.can bring on a high temperature and a pink-red rash, but it is treatable

:05:35. > :05:38.with antibiotics. It's been estimated that the winter

:05:39. > :05:41.storms have caused more than ?1 million worth of damage to our

:05:42. > :05:44.woodlands, with thousands of trees knocked down in the winds. And

:05:45. > :05:53.there's been an impact too on visitor attractions. Roger Pinney

:05:54. > :05:58.has been finding out more. Your -- you will probably remember

:05:59. > :06:03.this. And what about this? The storms which wreaked havoc on the

:06:04. > :06:06.coast also left a trail of destruction throughout woodland.

:06:07. > :06:12.Massive trees flattened and brought down like matchsticks. Clearing the

:06:13. > :06:19.damage is a massive task not just here but across the country.

:06:20. > :06:23.Thousands of trees came down in the storms and many Welsh forests are

:06:24. > :06:27.important tourist draws as well as predictive woodlands. This is the

:06:28. > :06:33.worst I've seen in my career over the last 20 years. The district

:06:34. > :06:37.manager with the forestry arm of Natural Resources Wales says staff

:06:38. > :06:41.have been at full stretch. It will take this months or years to get

:06:42. > :06:47.back to the position we were in before the storm. In some ways, it

:06:48. > :06:52.has caused us a lot of work but it is give us advantages in some

:06:53. > :06:59.respects because it enables us to reconvert this back to the native

:07:00. > :07:02.woodland. Wood from the fallen trees will eventually be sold so they

:07:03. > :07:09.value is not lost. More worrying is the damaged -- Jan H caused to the

:07:10. > :07:12.tourist attraction. This used to be the high ropes course, and

:07:13. > :07:18.attraction which last year brought in 15,000 visitors. 90% of it has

:07:19. > :07:22.been flattened. The course is unlikely to reopen this year.

:07:23. > :07:27.Mountain bikers have up -- have had better luck. One by one day trails

:07:28. > :07:33.have been reopened and it is hoped they will all be in use again. There

:07:34. > :07:40.are a lot of trees down and it is a complete mess. Natural Resources

:07:41. > :07:48.Wales reckon the damage caused is worth around ?1 million. One way or

:07:49. > :07:49.another, we will be counting the cost of the storms for some time

:07:50. > :07:52.yet. Rugby and the Ospreys gave their

:07:53. > :07:56.Pro12 play-off ambitions a boost with a bonus point win over the

:07:57. > :08:01.Cardiff Blues tonight. They scored five tries in a dominant display,

:08:02. > :08:04.eventually winning 34-9. Well, it's the first weekend of

:08:05. > :08:10.spring. How is the weather looking, Owain?

:08:11. > :08:17.Not very springlike Furneaux. It will be chilly over the next few

:08:18. > :08:23.days. It will be chilly and breezy with .3 showers and then frost and

:08:24. > :08:28.icy patches, especially first thing in the morning. Tonight, showers

:08:29. > :08:35.making their way across the East. A yellow warning for ice in parts of

:08:36. > :08:41.North Wales and mid Wales. These showers will turn wintry and they

:08:42. > :08:44.will be snow on higher ground. Temperatures falling close to

:08:45. > :08:51.freezing. Blustery winds across Cardigan Bay. Tomorrow morning, the

:08:52. > :08:55.showers will continue. Some snow cover falling on lower levels across

:08:56. > :09:00.part of -- parts of poets. Temperatures tomorrow will be

:09:01. > :09:05.disappointing. The rest of the UK, low pressure to the north and the

:09:06. > :09:08.wind swirling around it. Western parts will see the worst of any

:09:09. > :09:15.windy conditions. Further east are little better. Back to Wales and

:09:16. > :09:20.more in the way of showers. The wind direction changing slightly. These

:09:21. > :09:26.are called winds and temperatures tomorrow around eight Celsius. Into

:09:27. > :09:29.Sunday, rain will make its way across the country but it will be

:09:30. > :09:34.trying up generally on Sunday. A frosty start hopefully on Sunday

:09:35. > :09:40.more in the way of sunny spells across Wales. Feeling a bit more

:09:41. > :09:45.pleasant in the sunshine. On Monday, it looks a bit more settled thanks

:09:46. > :09:48.to a ridge of high pressure. But more rain on Tuesday.

:09:49. > :09:53.And that is Wales Today. Our next update is just after 1:00pm

:09:54. > :09:55.tomorrow. For now though, from all of us here, have a good weekend.

:09:56. > :09:57.Goodbye.
