:00:00. > :00:15.the evening on the BBC News Channel. And I'll be back with

:00:16. > :00:19.Good evening. There are calls for the most senior

:00:20. > :00:23.medical officer in the Armed Forces to give evidence to the assembly's

:00:24. > :00:27.Health Committee. It follows reports that he raised concerns about the

:00:28. > :00:31.long waiting times. The Welsh Government has angrily denied

:00:32. > :00:36.suggestions that military personnel here wait longer for treatment than

:00:37. > :00:41.they do in the rest of the UK. War on Wales. That's what the First

:00:42. > :00:46.Minister calls a tax on the Welsh NHS by the Conservatives and by some

:00:47. > :00:49.newspapers. This morning's papers say there's concern many the top

:00:50. > :00:53.ranks of the military about troops being held up on Welsh waiting

:00:54. > :01:03.lists. A meeting of health officials heard from the Armed Forces most

:01:04. > :01:08.senior medical officer, air Marshall Paul Evans who said:

:01:09. > :01:13.He also noted the example that patients being treated quicker,

:01:14. > :01:17.thanks to referrals across borders. It's totally misleading to suggest

:01:18. > :01:21.that Welsh military personnel wait longer for treatment according to

:01:22. > :01:30.the Welsh Government. But some of the Government's opponents want to

:01:31. > :01:34.hear more from the General and he may come here to answer questions

:01:35. > :01:38.from the committee. It's evidence that we may wish to look at. It's

:01:39. > :01:41.not come to me as a member of committee and as a constituency

:01:42. > :01:46.member. No-one's approached me in relation to this and, in fact, if

:01:47. > :01:54.you look at the Welsh Government's policy, it's to prioritise service

:01:55. > :01:57.personnel. Carwyn Jones's aides say he's

:01:58. > :02:01.fearious. He wants a Whitehall investigation into how troops have

:02:02. > :02:06.been dragged into a political row about the NHS. The row goes on, with

:02:07. > :02:10.no sign of a truce. Meanwhile, the performance of Public

:02:11. > :02:13.Services has dominated the final day of the Welsh Liberal Democrat

:02:14. > :02:17.Conference in Newport. The party's leader, Kirsty William, says the

:02:18. > :02:21.First Minister, Carwyn Jones, is hiding behind public sector staff

:02:22. > :02:28.instead of taking responsibility for what's gone wrong.

:02:29. > :02:31.Being leader of the fourth party in the assembly isn't always easy.

:02:32. > :02:37.Particularly when your colleagues are in Government at Westminster.

:02:38. > :02:41.But Kirsty Williams thinks he's found the Welsh Government's weak

:02:42. > :02:44.spot, poor results in health and education. Much of the UK media

:02:45. > :02:49.started saying the same thing, but that, she says, just proves the

:02:50. > :02:55.point. These headlines might hurt our national pride, but we must not

:02:56. > :02:59.forget, it's Labour that's become Wales's weakest link, the a Labour

:03:00. > :03:02.Government holding us back and it's a Labour Government and their

:03:03. > :03:09.policies that have become a weight around our nation's neck. A couple

:03:10. > :03:13.of miles from the conference hall it's the workers like those at this

:03:14. > :03:16.hospital that have found themselves on the political frontline. Carwyn

:03:17. > :03:22.Jones says a tax on Public Services are a tax on Wales itself. Kirsty

:03:23. > :03:26.Williams' argument is that that's nonsense and the people to blame are

:03:27. > :03:30.the people in charge, that's Mr Jones's Welsh Labour Government. I

:03:31. > :03:33.think it's about time the people of Wales heard about what's happening

:03:34. > :03:37.in their own assembly Government and the fact that Labour, even though

:03:38. > :03:40.they've been in power since the Assembly began, they've failed time

:03:41. > :03:45.after time too improve Health Services, to improve education.

:03:46. > :03:48.Labour say the Liberal Democrats are becoming an irrelevance in Welsh

:03:49. > :03:51.politics, but what's very clear is that the performance of public

:03:52. > :03:56.services is going to dominate campaigning in next year's general

:03:57. > :04:00.election and the Assembly elections in 2016.

:04:01. > :04:04.Mountain rescuers taking part in a training exercise are to put their

:04:05. > :04:11.skills to the test for real after a hiker needed help in Snowdonia.

:04:12. > :04:34.Members of the team carried a man down from Bochlywd yesterday.

:04:35. > :04:44.I think he was right to stop it, but I thought to give him every chance

:04:45. > :04:48.possible. He proved me right. He went out, put him under pressure and

:04:49. > :04:52.hit him with some good shots and the Germans were gutted that Enzo had a

:04:53. > :04:56.closed eye because they wanted to see the good fight. Glamorgan have

:04:57. > :04:59.started this year's County Championship campaign in London

:05:00. > :05:09.today with flair first match against Surrey at The Oval -- with their

:05:10. > :05:17.first match against Surrey at The Oval. Here is the weather forecast

:05:18. > :05:22.with sue Charles now. Drier and settled weather midweek.

:05:23. > :05:26.Tonight is dry for a time. The low cloud and mist will move back in

:05:27. > :05:31.from the south overnight. A dull, damp start tomorrow with cloud and

:05:32. > :05:34.wind and outbreaks of rain. This fronts clears northwards and

:05:35. > :05:39.brighter and drier conditions will follow in the afternoon. Top

:05:40. > :05:47.temperatures of 11 in Pembrokeshire, 13 for border counties. Tuesday's

:05:48. > :05:51.pleasy with variable cloud -- breezy with variable cloud. Things settle

:05:52. > :05:56.down. Wednesday is generally fine and dry with clearer conditions and

:05:57. > :06:00.they'll bring colder nights. More cloudy on Thursday. That is Wales

:06:01. > :06:04.Today today. I'm back at 10. 20. Have

:06:05. > :06:13.Good evening, after a fairly mild weekend, a fresher week in store for

:06:14. > :06:15.the week ahead. Moreshine at times
