:00:00. > :00:19.solicitor and to one of the complainants in the trial. But

:00:20. > :00:25.Good evening. After nearly two years of bitter and

:00:26. > :00:29.public argument - an eight year deal has been reached for a new European

:00:30. > :00:32.Rugby Cup from next season. It's said it will make the four Welsh

:00:33. > :00:36.regions an extra one million pounds a season - but it will be more

:00:37. > :00:45.difficult to qualify for the tournament. Claire Summers reports.

:00:46. > :00:50.It is the deal that Welsh rugby fans, the regions and those who run

:00:51. > :00:55.the game have been poring over for two years. It all began when French

:00:56. > :00:59.and English clubs announce their attention to leave the current

:01:00. > :01:06.European cup and setup their own tournament. This won the backing of

:01:07. > :01:12.Welsh regions. Most wanted change and more cash. They have now got

:01:13. > :01:18.both. The four regions and their club colleagues across Europe will

:01:19. > :01:23.be in charge of commercial matters, including TV deals. There has been

:01:24. > :01:27.talk of doubling the value of the tournament to ?100 million. There

:01:28. > :01:34.would not have been a new tournament without television. An agreement

:01:35. > :01:38.with rival broadcasters was crucial. The Millennium Stadium will host the

:01:39. > :01:46.European cup final, the last in the present format. What else will

:01:47. > :01:51.change? The champions cup will involve 20 teens. Only one Welsh

:01:52. > :01:58.team is guaranteed a place but as things stand, the Ospreys and

:01:59. > :02:03.Scarlets would qualify. The Dragons and blues would play in a

:02:04. > :02:07.second-tier tournament. Organisers say the Welsh sides will get ?1

:02:08. > :02:15.million a season more than they do at present. The domestic dispute

:02:16. > :02:21.goes on. A new legal contract is yet to be agreed. Money is also central

:02:22. > :02:27.to that argument. The regions would like more of it for releasing

:02:28. > :02:31.players for international duty. Having played hardball in Europe and

:02:32. > :02:40.got what they wanted, the only way to do the same. -- they are unlikely

:02:41. > :02:44.to do the same. He says he went through 11 months of

:02:45. > :02:47.hell - tonight Nigel Evans walked free from court after being cleared

:02:48. > :02:51.of a string of sex offence charges - including one of rape. The former

:02:52. > :02:54.shadow Welsh Secretary, who was born in Swansea, had been accused of

:02:55. > :02:56.crimes against seven men, but maintained his innocence throughout.

:02:57. > :02:58.David Cornock reports. He walked from court and innocent

:02:59. > :03:03.man, cleared of all nine charges after a five-week trial and keen to

:03:04. > :03:08.get back to work. It is the work I have done for the last 22 years so

:03:09. > :03:14.this is not a time for celebration or euphoria. After the last 11

:03:15. > :03:22.months that I have gone through, nothing will ever be the same again.

:03:23. > :03:27.Nigel Evans was born and bred in Swansea where his grandfather set up

:03:28. > :03:34.the family newsagent business. He started in the local council and at

:03:35. > :03:41.university when he was taught by a Labour MP. He was a diminutive

:03:42. > :03:49.character, almost blew the date University. He was not openly gay at

:03:50. > :03:53.that time. -- almost bullied at university. He was not the hard

:03:54. > :04:02.drinking rugby playing typical student. He overcame a by-election

:04:03. > :04:09.setback to win the Ribble Valley seat, a seat he has held since 1992.

:04:10. > :04:16.He enjoyed the Westminster life. He was one of the great party animals.

:04:17. > :04:25.Often the last at the bar and often on the bar at the Commons tens --

:04:26. > :04:31.Commons terrace. Often ordinating -- ordering champagne and surrounded by

:04:32. > :04:37.young men, it has to be said. Nigel Evans spent two years as the shadow

:04:38. > :04:43.Welsh secretary. The Conservative main spokesman on Welsh affairs at

:04:44. > :04:48.Westminster. His career peaked with his election as Deputy Speaker, a

:04:49. > :04:53.politically neutral role. It was only a year after the death of his

:04:54. > :04:58.mother that he decided to come out. When we met in the speakers how's he

:04:59. > :05:06.joked about it. It was hard enough being a Tory in Swansea as coming

:05:07. > :05:12.out gay. I saw it as God's little joke, being a two -- being a Tory

:05:13. > :05:21.and born in Swansea. Come on, give me a break. Nigel Evans must now

:05:22. > :05:26.wait to see if he will be welcomed back into the party he first joined

:05:27. > :05:30.in Swansea 40 years ago. A major review of the schools system

:05:31. > :05:33.says the Welsh Government lacks a long-term vision for education and

:05:34. > :05:36.doesn't do enough to support teachers and head teachers. The

:05:37. > :05:39.report, by one of the world's leading economic organisations - the

:05:40. > :05:41.O.E.C.D - also says major changes have been forced through too

:05:42. > :05:48.quickly. But the Education Minister Huw Lewis said, that it's important

:05:49. > :05:53.that changes are brought in. It says there is a risk of the piece of

:05:54. > :06:00.change becoming an issue. That is something we need to be guarding

:06:01. > :06:06.against. But every academic year that goes by, even without us having

:06:07. > :06:10.the highest standards possible, and other cohort of young people is not

:06:11. > :06:14.getting the best so I make no apologies for that sense of urgency.

:06:15. > :06:18.Police are investigating the sudden death of a 15-year-old boy in

:06:19. > :06:21.Swansea. Officers were called to an area near Olchfa Comprehensive

:06:22. > :06:24.School in Sketty, at half past nine this morning. The death of the

:06:25. > :06:27.teenager, who was a pupil there, is being treated as unexplained. The

:06:28. > :06:36.school says it's shocked and saddened, and will close tomorrow

:06:37. > :06:41.afternoon as a mark of respect. In 19 New York man is believed to

:06:42. > :06:44.have suffered hand injuries in a near explosion. Bomb disposal

:06:45. > :06:48.experts have been called to the village of Wiston, in Pembrokeshire,

:06:49. > :06:50.following a minor explosion. He was airlifted to Swansea's Morriston

:06:51. > :06:54.Hospital. Properties nearby have been evacuated, and the road towards

:06:55. > :06:58.Crundale has been closed off with motorists being asked to avoid the

:06:59. > :07:04.area. Aled Scourfield reports. The Welsh ambulance service were called

:07:05. > :07:10.property on the outskirts of Wiston this morning. One disposal experts

:07:11. > :07:16.were also called to the property following what has been described as

:07:17. > :07:21.a minor explosion. It is understood and 19 usual man suffered hand

:07:22. > :07:26.injuries during the blast. He was taken to hospital in Swansea but his

:07:27. > :07:32.injuries are not believed to be life threatening. For nearby properties

:07:33. > :07:36.have been evacuated while a search is conducted. The incident has

:07:37. > :07:42.searched local people. It was frantic. There was police

:07:43. > :07:47.everywhere, there were dogs, we did not know what had happened, it was

:07:48. > :07:50.frightening. The road has been shut for much of the day as police

:07:51. > :07:53.investigate the cause of the explosion.

:07:54. > :08:03.Let's get the weather now - how's it looking, Sue?

:08:04. > :08:09.More dry weather to come. If we take a look at the map tonight and weak

:08:10. > :08:16.cold front bringing patchy drizzle. Turning later and petering out. One

:08:17. > :08:20.or two mist patches forming. Temperatures falling to three or

:08:21. > :08:25.four in rural regions. Some early mist tomorrow morning. Patchy cloud

:08:26. > :08:31.and sunshine with just a light breeze. Similar for most of the UK -

:08:32. > :08:34.bright spells - some cloud - but turning cloudier for Scotland and

:08:35. > :08:37.Northern Ireland with a band of rain pushing in to the northwest through

:08:38. > :08:41.the afternoon - Top temperatures between 10C for the western isles

:08:42. > :08:45.minus 17 in Southeast England. A dry end to the day across Wales - with

:08:46. > :08:51.sunny spells and a few clouds - just the odd isolated light shower. Highs

:08:52. > :08:55.of ten to 13C. Tomorrow night's largely dry - the sky clear for a

:08:56. > :08:59.while - so turning chilly with some ground frost - but clouding over

:09:00. > :09:01.through the early hours. Then not a bad weekend - Saturday's often

:09:02. > :09:05.cloudy. Some brighter spells especially further east - but a few

:09:06. > :09:08.spots of light rain or drizzle will push southeastwards later in the

:09:09. > :09:12.day. But the chart shows that once that front is through on Saturday -

:09:13. > :09:18.a ridge of high pressure builds back in from the Azores through Sunday.

:09:19. > :09:22.So Sunday - more settled weather and it looks like the sunnier day of the

:09:23. > :09:27.weekend. Cloudy with highs of 10-14C. The settled spell continues

:09:28. > :09:31.into next week - a dry start with more fine weather for the first half

:09:32. > :09:35.of the week, but signs it will turn more unsettled later in the the

:09:36. > :09:40.week. Some rain with the wind picking-up and turning colder. Some

:09:41. > :09:45.fine weather to enjoy over the next few days. Keep up-to-date with the

:09:46. > :09:56.forecast and check out the video forecast online. Thank you very

:09:57. > :09:59.much. That's it from us. We will be back at breakfast. Have a very good

:10:00. > :10:02.night.
