:00:14. > :00:19.Hello, good evening. The former Montgomeryshire MP Lembit Opik has

:00:20. > :00:24.accused the CPS of being desperate to cobble together a set of charges

:00:25. > :00:28.against the Swansea born MP Nigel Evans. Mr Opik was called as a

:00:29. > :00:33.prosecution witness in the trial of Nigel Evans, who was cleared of rape

:00:34. > :00:36.and sexual assault last week. The former Deputy Speaker of the

:00:37. > :00:39.House of Commons Nigel Evans has come out fighting after his

:00:40. > :00:45.five-week trial. In a newspaper interview today, he says the 130,000

:00:46. > :00:49.legal bill to clear his name has cost him his life savings. He says

:00:50. > :00:53.if someone is dragged through the courts through no fault of their own

:00:54. > :00:57.and is acquitted, they should get their legal fees back from the CPS

:00:58. > :01:00.budget. He also says he feels cheated by the fact that is his

:01:01. > :01:04.seven accusers walks down the street, none of them would be

:01:05. > :01:08.recognised but he would be, as the only one who was named. That call

:01:09. > :01:13.for the same kind of anonymity during a trial for those accused of

:01:14. > :01:17.carrying out sexual attacks has -- was the anonymity given to victims

:01:18. > :01:22.was supported by his friends, Lembit Opik. He told Sunday Politics Wales

:01:23. > :01:26.he was amazed the case went to court. People like Nigel Evans are

:01:27. > :01:31.not on the playing field. -- level playing field. The right thing here

:01:32. > :01:36.to do is to not reveal the identity of a defendant in just the same way

:01:37. > :01:40.that the plaintiffs have secured anonymity. The CPS has defended its

:01:41. > :01:44.decision, saying it applies the same rules no matter who the defendant

:01:45. > :01:49.is. At the Welsh Conservatives conference this weekend Nigel Evans

:01:50. > :01:54.received support from the Welsh secretary. He is a good

:01:55. > :01:57.parliamentarian. He understands Parliament. Parliament will be

:01:58. > :02:01.richer for him continuing to work there. Mr Evans says he is planning

:02:02. > :02:06.to stay on as an MP in Lancashire and fight the Ribble Valley seat at

:02:07. > :02:09.the next general election. A 17-year-old girl has been arrested

:02:10. > :02:17.on suspicion of making a grossly offensive comment on Facebook. After

:02:18. > :02:20.the death of a boy in Swansea. The 15-year-old has been named locally

:02:21. > :02:24.as Olchfa School pupil James Lock. His body was found in woods on

:02:25. > :02:27.Thursday. The girl was questioned yesterday before being released on

:02:28. > :02:32.police bail. The body representing councils in Wales is calling for

:02:33. > :02:34.clarity from the First Minister on proposals to merge local

:02:35. > :02:37.authorities. A commission set up by the Welsh Government published a

:02:38. > :02:42.report in January, which recommended cutting the number of councils.

:02:43. > :02:45.Despite a recommendation for action by Easter there has been no

:02:46. > :02:50.agreement amongst political parties. The government says it will

:02:51. > :02:55.set out its position by the summer. We need a clear timescale for how

:02:56. > :03:01.the report is going to be lamented. We have 150,000 employees. We can't

:03:02. > :03:04.just have the sort of Damocles -- we can't have a sort of Damocles

:03:05. > :03:09.hanging over them for five or six years.

:03:10. > :03:14.Part of a beach in Penarth has been cordoned off after 150 tonnes of

:03:15. > :03:17.rock came away from a cliff face. No one was injured. The fire service

:03:18. > :03:22.say the landslide was caused by recent rain, which had made a cliff

:03:23. > :03:25.unstable. Penarth seafront. It's peer and

:03:26. > :03:31.beach were packed with families enjoying Easter sunshine, when a

:03:32. > :03:34.loud rumbling made people turn and face the cliffs. Angela Gywn was

:03:35. > :03:39.with her children on the beach and filmed the first few moments of the

:03:40. > :03:43.rock fall. I grabbed the kids and ran, I did not know what was going

:03:44. > :03:48.on. The emergency services sealed off the beach. No one was injured

:03:49. > :03:53.but around 150 tonnes of rock had come crashing down onto the beach

:03:54. > :03:56.below. We have had a lot of wet weather and that is beginning to dry

:03:57. > :04:00.out, which is making the rock face unstable. We are asking people to

:04:01. > :04:06.stay a cliff fighting distance away from the cliffs and then when

:04:07. > :04:13.walking along the top, to stay inside to that distance as well --

:04:14. > :04:19.Aycliffe height distance away. Two lots came down in one go, Sahel of

:04:20. > :04:23.noise. I feel sorry for the people on top of it. I hope there was no

:04:24. > :04:29.one gardening. You would find yourself in the drink! You can see

:04:30. > :04:32.bits coming down now. South Wales Fire and use a part of the coastal

:04:33. > :04:37.path and some clifftop gardens had eroded. They have been liaising with

:04:38. > :04:40.local residents and local authority to ensure there is no further

:04:41. > :04:43.danger. Football, Swansea City remained

:04:44. > :04:48.three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone after defeat

:04:49. > :04:53.at home to Chelsea. After appearing to delay his decision, the referee

:04:54. > :04:59.sent off Swans defender Chico Flores for two early yellow cards. Demba Ba

:05:00. > :05:00.scored the only goal of the game. A full check on the weather now with

:05:01. > :05:11.Rhian Haf. Hello, we had the best day of the

:05:12. > :05:14.weekend today, dry, bright, lovely sunshine. Cloudier further north but

:05:15. > :05:19.it is a dry, bright evening on the whole. The sun does not set until

:05:20. > :05:23.after 8pm. Make the most of it. Chilly overnight. Ground frost

:05:24. > :05:28.possible in rural areas as temperatures dipped to or two

:05:29. > :05:33.degrees Celsius. A chilly start, tomorrow, then fine, dry date. Lots

:05:34. > :05:40.of blue sky and sunshine for all of us. As the winds ease it will feel

:05:41. > :05:44.warmer. Temperatures reasoning -- reaching 13 or 14 Celsius in

:05:45. > :05:48.Newport. A return to more settled conditions in the next few days.

:05:49. > :05:52.Staying dry, bright, lots of sunshine. Chilly by night but warm

:05:53. > :05:56.by day. That is the latest in Wales Today. I

:05:57. > :05:59.will be back with a late update at 10:15pm. Goodbye.
