:00:00. > :00:18.limited. That's all from

:00:19. > :00:23.Good evening. It's emerged tonight that a further seven nurses have

:00:24. > :00:26.been suspended at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend as part

:00:27. > :00:31.of an ongoing investigation into allegations that records were

:00:32. > :00:34.falsified. Last year, three nurses working at the hospital had been

:00:35. > :00:39.arrested on suspicion of neglect following claims that notes had been

:00:40. > :00:52.falsified. Our health correspondent Owain Clarke is here. What's the

:00:53. > :01:03.latest? We know that for some time health care has been under the

:01:04. > :01:14.spotlight in the region. We note that three of the hospitals have

:01:15. > :01:18.been targeted. Seven Mormon nurses have been suspended from duty and we

:01:19. > :01:25.understand it happened last year. It was the result of an internal

:01:26. > :01:33.investigation. Said details are limited, but we can expect more

:01:34. > :01:38.soon, presumably? Yes. No comment from the Welsh government, but

:01:39. > :01:43.following a crescendo of complaints, the health minister did ask for an

:01:44. > :01:51.independent review at the health board. I expect that report to be

:01:52. > :02:01.published imminently. The health board said they will implement any

:02:02. > :02:09.recommendations. However, there have been calls for a four public in --

:02:10. > :02:12.for a public enquiry. More should be done to promote the

:02:13. > :02:15.great Welsh outdoors to visitors from outside Wales. That's the view

:02:16. > :02:19.of businesses operating in the tourism sector.

:02:20. > :02:24.Yes, you can get wet when you holiday in Wales, but this is the

:02:25. > :02:28.kind of wet people are prepared to pay for. At this whitewater rafting

:02:29. > :02:41.centre, they boast that it is the best of its kind in the UK. This

:02:42. > :02:49.group are a stag party from England. They learnt about the facility

:02:50. > :02:55.through word-of-mouth. People do generally know that Wales is all

:02:56. > :03:03.about outdoor pursuits. There's not much information where we're from in

:03:04. > :03:09.Sussex. I would not have thought that this is well advertised to

:03:10. > :03:21.people further afield. Visit Wales does advertise, but it is broad

:03:22. > :03:33.brushed. Should there be a more focused Porsche on the outdoor

:03:34. > :03:40.activities that Wells have to offer? There should be more advertising.

:03:41. > :03:44.This is a great opportunity for Wales, but of course people in the

:03:45. > :03:49.South East have so much choice. Visitors means money and that

:03:50. > :03:55.translates into jobs. What is really important is that people who spend

:03:56. > :03:59.their money when they get here, be it in hotels, restaurants, shops and

:04:00. > :04:07.even petrol stations. The report today suggest the alt oil sector

:04:08. > :04:13.ports ?481 million into the Welsh it: Me every year. 8000 jobs are

:04:14. > :04:25.supported. However, much of that work has not gone to Welsh school

:04:26. > :04:30.leavers. Campaigners are saying that more needs to be done. Historically,

:04:31. > :04:39.local people have not seen the outdoors as a means of employment. I

:04:40. > :04:43.was never given the opportunity to go hill walking or kayaking when I

:04:44. > :04:48.was younger will stop things are changing. Over the last ten years,

:04:49. > :04:53.outdoor partnership has engaged with 35,000 people. Some people have been

:04:54. > :04:59.able to sustain employment in the sector. There is no doubt the great

:05:00. > :05:07.wealth outdoors has a lot to offer thrill seekers.

:05:08. > :05:10.Two senior doctors at a mental health unit in Bangor say they're

:05:11. > :05:13.concerned about the way it is being run. The consultants at the Hergest

:05:14. > :05:17.psychiatric unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd say the Health Minister needs to

:05:18. > :05:20.take action over the way staff are being treated. The health board

:05:21. > :05:23.which runs the unit says all the correct procedures are being

:05:24. > :05:29.followed and it is listening to staff.

:05:30. > :05:32.It scares some of the most honourable patients in Wales, often

:05:33. > :05:38.with challenging mental health conditions, but for the last year,

:05:39. > :05:42.some staff at the Hergest unit have not been happy. Last summer

:05:43. > :05:48.management wanted to change the way it was run and then to senior nurses

:05:49. > :05:51.were suddenly sent home. When some of the senior ward managers here

:05:52. > :05:59.were questioning some of the changes being made, then one day when some

:06:00. > :06:02.of the changes were due to be implemented, then the ward managers

:06:03. > :06:08.of the two main wards were asked to leave. They were away for six weeks.

:06:09. > :06:13.During that time, the wards did not have any leadership. Other people

:06:14. > :06:17.stepped in but did not know what they were doing. Colleagues

:06:18. > :06:24.protested and the two nurses are back at work, but staff are worried

:06:25. > :06:28.about what will happen next. The health board said it is listening

:06:29. > :06:35.and wants to improve things. And patients. We are setting up systems

:06:36. > :06:39.in the Hergest unit so that we are meeting staff regularly and we are

:06:40. > :06:45.listening to the voices of all of the staff and not just one or two

:06:46. > :06:50.local people. Some of those voices have taken things further. Two

:06:51. > :06:53.consultants have complained to the Assembly and they are asking the

:06:54. > :06:57.health minister to step in and make sure that ain't really do change.

:06:58. > :07:00.The mines inspector who led the investigation after four men drowned

:07:01. > :07:06.in a Swansea Valley pit has told a jury how he was left chilled after

:07:07. > :07:09.seeing a plan of the mine. Sketches on the map suggested the colliers

:07:10. > :07:13.had been working towards underground water. Malcolm Fyfield, who was the

:07:14. > :07:15.pit manager, denies four counts of manslaughter through gross

:07:16. > :07:21.negligence and the mine operators deny four counts of corporate

:07:22. > :07:25.manslaughter. More than 200 jobs are to be created

:07:26. > :07:27.in Merthyr Tydfil at a company that manufactures exhaust systems for

:07:28. > :07:32.cars. Tenneco-Walker already employs around 190 people on its site at

:07:33. > :07:37.Tredegar. Today it announced it's opening a second site at Dowlais

:07:38. > :07:43.Top. The 2015 Ashes series will begin in

:07:44. > :07:46.Wales. The first Test between England and Australia will start on

:07:47. > :07:49.July eighth at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff. The two sides will also

:07:50. > :07:56.play a Twenty20 international there at the end of August.

:07:57. > :08:04.It's looking up on the weather front - Derek has got the forecast.

:08:05. > :08:10.Some great cricket weather later this week with high pressure on the

:08:11. > :08:18.way. At the moment, it is quite chilly. It will be on the cool side.

:08:19. > :08:23.A few showers dotted around the country tonight, but not everywhere

:08:24. > :08:29.will catch them. Some places will stay dry. A little bit of missed

:08:30. > :08:38.bawling. Temperatures down to as low as five Celsius. There will be some

:08:39. > :08:43.showers tomorrow, but there will be sunshine as well. Across the rest of

:08:44. > :08:46.the UK, many places will start dry, but they will be some showers

:08:47. > :08:53.around. There will be more to come during the day. Not everywhere will

:08:54. > :08:58.catch them, but if you do, they could be heavy. Sunny spells

:08:59. > :09:04.tomorrow with temperatures up to 17 degrees in London and 14 degrees in

:09:05. > :09:11.Glasgow. On the whole, a lot of fine and dry weather with a great deal of

:09:12. > :09:20.sunshine. Temperatures up to 16 Celsius. Any showers will die away

:09:21. > :09:27.to leave us with a finite -- a dry night. Any fog patches on Wednesday

:09:28. > :09:33.will disappear in leaving a generally dry day. Temperatures up

:09:34. > :09:38.to 17 degrees in Monmouth. Thursday, it will be dry and settled. The

:09:39. > :09:43.second half of the week looks quite a thing. Dry with sunny spells and

:09:44. > :09:48.rising temperatures. Not a heatwave, but much warmer than it

:09:49. > :09:56.has been recently. Newsnight has just started over on

:09:57. > :10:00.BBC Two, asking why Nick Clegg was told to get stuffed by the education

:10:01. > :10:02.Ministry 's chief adviser.
