:00:31. > :00:34.Four members of staff at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon in Mountain Ash

:00:35. > :00:49.Tegwen Roderick had lived in Abercanaid all her life. A

:00:50. > :00:53.well-known member of the community, she lived on the street with her

:00:54. > :00:58.husband John and was well liked by her neighbours. Today the family

:00:59. > :01:04.were in mourning. A week ago she was found with serious and unexplained

:01:05. > :01:10.injuries at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon. She was transferred to Prince Charles

:01:11. > :01:16.Jos Buttler but she yesterday died. Now an investigation has been

:01:17. > :01:27.launched into her death. Jasper -- Prince Charles Hospital. A beautiful

:01:28. > :01:32.lady. Very gentle, lovely lady. Unfortunately she did not have any

:01:33. > :01:37.children but they were a devoted couple. And that was a view shared

:01:38. > :01:41.by many who lived in this village. I spent the day speaking to people who

:01:42. > :01:45.knew Tegwen Roderick. They said she had lived her whole life here and

:01:46. > :01:49.was a teacher right up to her retirement. She had been suffering

:01:50. > :01:53.from ill health recently but they were still shocked to hear the news

:01:54. > :01:56.that her death has resulted in a police investigation. Police have

:01:57. > :02:00.said at this stage there is no confirmed link between the injuries

:02:01. > :02:04.and the death but four people are helping them with their enquiries.

:02:05. > :02:09.As a precaution, ten members of staff were initially suspended but

:02:10. > :02:12.six have now been lifted. In a statement, Cwm Taf Health Board said

:02:13. > :02:18.it takes the care and safety of its patients extremely safety. As soon

:02:19. > :02:21.as staff identified that there was a problem with the patient concerned,

:02:22. > :02:27.they acted quickly and appropriately. The investigation is

:02:28. > :02:31.ongoing and I have reassured me that they feel no other patient is at

:02:32. > :02:36.risk but we need to find out what happened. We need to do justice to

:02:37. > :02:39.this investigation. When charity is concerned about the knock-on effect

:02:40. > :02:44.this will have on the perception of elderly care in our hospitals.

:02:45. > :02:51.People make it about the quality of care overall or the services they

:02:52. > :02:55.may receive. The vast majority of what we hear are very good

:02:56. > :02:58.experiences at hospitals, good experiences of the way people are

:02:59. > :03:05.treated by staff. But with failings do occur, it is vital that they are

:03:06. > :03:08.investigated. The police and health boards say they are continuing to

:03:09. > :03:09.together to work out what caused the death of this well-respected

:03:10. > :03:12.pensioner. A mine manager has denied convincing

:03:13. > :03:15.himself that he had checked the correct area for underground

:03:16. > :03:18.water before an in-rush killed four Giving evidence for a fourth day,

:03:19. > :03:23.Malcolm Fyfield once again insisted Asked if he should have carried out

:03:24. > :03:28.another inspection behind the coalface on the morning of the

:03:29. > :03:32.disaster, Mr Fyfield replied that He and the mine operators

:03:33. > :03:39.deny manslaughter charges. A ?280 million race track planned

:03:40. > :03:45.for Blaenau Gwent could get a Welsh government loan to help attract more

:03:46. > :03:49.funding. The Heads of the Valleys Development

:03:50. > :03:53.Company wants to build the Circuit of Wales track near Ebbw Vale to

:03:54. > :03:57.host major motor racing events. It was granted planning

:03:58. > :04:00.permission last July. Four men from Newport who ran a car

:04:01. > :04:04.off the road and then shot at the passengers inside have been found

:04:05. > :04:08.guilty of conspiracy to murder. Lewis Bridge, Brogan Hooper,

:04:09. > :04:10.Gary Rabjohns and Ryan Battersby carried out the attempted revenge

:04:11. > :04:22.killings last September. What was left of the red Ford car

:04:23. > :04:28.after the three people inside were round of the road and shot twice

:04:29. > :04:33.with a shotgun. Today, Lewis Bridge, Brogan Hooper, Gary Rabjohns

:04:34. > :04:38.and Glasgow -- Ryan Battersby were found guilty of two counts of

:04:39. > :04:42.conspiracy to murder. The court heard these were attempted revenge

:04:43. > :04:49.killings to get back to men who in the days came here and allegedly

:04:50. > :04:54.robbed Brogan Hooper at gunpoint of drugs and money. His friends wanted

:04:55. > :05:00.retribution and a series of mobile phone messages were sent, one

:05:01. > :05:05.saying, get your scraps ready. The court was told scraps meant guns.

:05:06. > :05:14.Then on the evening of September three, they all followed the

:05:15. > :05:23.victim's red car out of the estate and into Newport. The victim's Ford

:05:24. > :05:27.was heading into a violent ambush. Shortly afterwards, the two vehicles

:05:28. > :05:32.made their way up this road, the Jeep ramming the victim's R. Two

:05:33. > :05:37.shots were fired from a shotgun and the victim's car crashed into the

:05:38. > :05:42.side wall of this car park. Two of the victims had gunshot wounds, one

:05:43. > :05:47.to the head, the other was treated for a minor spinal injury. Reacting

:05:48. > :05:50.to the verdict, the Crown Prosecution Service said these four

:05:51. > :05:54.defendants took part in a reckless criminal act and it is a pure chance

:05:55. > :05:59.that their lawlessness did not lead to a more serious outcome for the

:06:00. > :06:04.victims all other members of the public. The men said nothing as they
