:00:00. > :00:18.That's all from us. There is a first look at the papers

:00:19. > :00:21.A three-year-old girl has died following a fire at a house

:00:22. > :00:25.Emergency services were called to the incident yesterday evening.

:00:26. > :00:28.The girl?s mother is in a serious condition in hospital.

:00:29. > :00:42.This was the scene yesterday evening as firefighters tackled the blaze on

:00:43. > :00:47.a quiet residential street at Carmarthen. It has been described as

:00:48. > :00:51.very fierce and took nearly four hours to get under control. They

:00:52. > :00:55.both say they heard screams and the street was in utter chaos, thick

:00:56. > :00:59.black smoke throughout the whole area and the house was engulfed in

:01:00. > :01:04.flames. People stood by in tears as they were in a state of shock. A

:01:05. > :01:08.three-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in Cardiff, but it was

:01:09. > :01:14.confirmed earlier that she died from her injuries. Her mother remained

:01:15. > :01:18.any serious condition. Her father was also injured and remains in

:01:19. > :01:23.hospital. Other family members are being supported by specialist

:01:24. > :01:27.officers. Police from one force have remained at the house through the

:01:28. > :01:28.day and enquiries are continuing to try to piece together how this

:01:29. > :01:30.tragedy unfolded. Swansea Prison was the subject

:01:31. > :01:32.of an urgent question at Westminster It?s emerged it?s

:01:33. > :01:35.the most overcrowded prison The Chief Inspector

:01:36. > :01:40.of Prisons says the system isn't coping and has described the

:01:41. > :01:56.situation as ?extremely serious?. Willie accept responsibility for the

:01:57. > :02:01.closure of 18 jails. -- will he? For escalating increase in the prison

:02:02. > :02:08.population. I have recognised the fact that Wales has a problem with

:02:09. > :02:13.prisons, because there is not one in the North. So I have asked for money

:02:14. > :02:14.to build a new prison in North Wales, that is doing the right

:02:15. > :02:16.thing. Household recycling services

:02:17. > :02:18.in Wales are ?too complicated?, That's according to the

:02:19. > :02:20.Welsh Government's advisor One council is considering whether

:02:21. > :02:41.to move to monthly collections Tipped out, squashed down and ready

:02:42. > :02:46.to be made into something new. More people here are recycling which

:02:47. > :02:50.means less processing -- this processing plant is getting busier.

:02:51. > :02:58.Wales has a better recycling rates than the west of the UK in part of

:02:59. > :03:05.-- because of ambitious targets. Currently, we recycle 52% of the

:03:06. > :03:09.rubbish we throw away. , the target will be 58% of meaning authorities

:03:10. > :03:14.have to find ways to encourage us to throw less in the bin.

:03:15. > :03:21.From next year, councils will be fined ?100,000 for every 1% they are

:03:22. > :03:23.below the target. Now, one adviser and advises that local authorities

:03:24. > :03:30.need to stop having different ways of collecting and processing

:03:31. > :03:34.recycling. , it can be too confusing because we have different systems,

:03:35. > :03:42.22, for recycling. We need to look at that. One system, there is no

:03:43. > :03:50.reason that we cannot have a Cold War dilated on system approach that

:03:51. > :03:56.would be clearer. -- a coordinated one system.

:03:57. > :03:58.The Welsh Government says it is up to individual councils to decide how

:03:59. > :04:03.to meet targets and it has given them money to collaborate and make

:04:04. > :04:07.savings. On the ground, there are different rules around the country.

:04:08. > :04:13.In some places, they collect bins every three weeks, in some places

:04:14. > :04:21.they are considering smaller bins all limits on banks or picking up

:04:22. > :04:25.the rubbish once a month. It is normally the last few weeks. What do

:04:26. > :04:34.you think about a month then? No way. We would have banks next to the

:04:35. > :04:40.bin. Not a lot got four children. What would happen? If we move to

:04:41. > :04:47.once a month, they will be bags everywhere. -- mood. Knowing what

:04:48. > :04:50.you can and cannot recycle is an issue here and in other parts of the

:04:51. > :04:52.country. Would it be easier to educate people if there was one set

:04:53. > :04:55.of rules for the whole country? The Labour Party

:04:56. > :04:56.in Wales could decide at the weekend how many councils it

:04:57. > :05:00.wants as part of a new local Earlier this year

:05:01. > :05:03.a report called for the number Any proposal would need some

:05:04. > :05:10.cross-party support in the Assembly. A bomb disposal team has established

:05:11. > :05:14.tonight that device found in Newport earlier is not a World War Two bomb

:05:15. > :05:19.and doesn't pose any risk. Houses, a school and businesses

:05:20. > :05:24.were evacuated this afternoon. A cordon has now been lifted

:05:25. > :05:29.and roads reopened. Prince Charles has intervened

:05:30. > :05:31.to save a dying Welsh industry. After hearing on the BBC that Wales'

:05:32. > :05:34.last full-time clog maker, from Criccieth in Gwynedd,

:05:35. > :05:39.was looking to retire, the Prince of Wales got in touch and

:05:40. > :05:55.offered to help fund an apprentice. Walking into this workshop, it is

:05:56. > :06:01.like stepping back in time. The last full-time commercial clockmaker in

:06:02. > :06:10.Wales, he has spent 36 years perfecting his cracked. With forks

:06:11. > :06:21.of retirement, he was worried. -- thought of. After appearing on the

:06:22. > :06:29.BBC, and unexpected offer of help. You don't expect to get that phone

:06:30. > :06:37.call. What it promised was support, help, and maybe a bit of clout

:06:38. > :06:44.behind any requests for help. It is not known whether the Prince is a

:06:45. > :06:48.clog owner, but Clarence House has told the BBC that he was keen to see

:06:49. > :06:58.the craft continue. It has meant helping to fund an apprentice.

:06:59. > :07:04.Intrigued by its history, he is convinced the craft also offers him

:07:05. > :07:10.a future. Because there are so little people doing it, and there is

:07:11. > :07:15.a demand, the demand in Wales for clogs is on the up. I'm quite

:07:16. > :07:22.convinced there will be a market for it. That demand has led to a clog

:07:23. > :07:29.shortage, even an amnesty so that younger dancers can get their hands

:07:30. > :07:36.and feet on properly crafted clogs. This is the type of work you have to

:07:37. > :07:41.put your back into. The whole process can take a full week to turn

:07:42. > :07:47.a log into a clog. He will spend a year learning

:07:48. > :07:48.hands-on, and he hopes then he can carry on a tradition that has

:07:49. > :07:49.survived for centuries. It?s almost sunshine all the way,

:07:50. > :08:04.but not quite... Cloud amounts will vary. We may get

:08:05. > :08:08.the odd shower. The emphasis remains on more dry weather this week. They

:08:09. > :08:14.will be a few sunny spells. Dry tonight. Otherwise the sky is nice

:08:15. > :08:20.and clear and turns clear in the countryside. Temperatures in some

:08:21. > :08:24.rural spots will drop below nine Celsius. Tomorrow, we are in for a

:08:25. > :08:30.dry day. Lovely sunshine, but cloud as well. Tomorrow morning, a dry

:08:31. > :08:35.story nationwide. Sunny for most, but not everywhere. The reason for

:08:36. > :08:39.this is that there is this area of high pressure here. This week front

:08:40. > :08:45.will bring some cloud and even a few spots of rain to the North and

:08:46. > :08:48.Scotland, the odd shower. Elsewhere, a dry story. A lot of cloud for

:08:49. > :08:53.Northern England, but in the South it will brighten up the sunny across

:08:54. > :08:58.the south-east and East Anglia, much sunnier than today and warmer, too.

:08:59. > :09:05.The highest temperature likely in Scotland tomorrow. 24 Celsius in

:09:06. > :09:10.Glasgow. Close to home, in Wales, a dry afternoon in prospect. Some

:09:11. > :09:18.lovely sunshine, it will stage right, warm and muggy. 22 Celsius

:09:19. > :09:23.in, and share. Once again, the pollen count will be very high. Into

:09:24. > :09:28.Wednesday and the cloud will produce some showers, but again a lot of

:09:29. > :09:32.places will miss them and stay dry. There will be breaks in the cloud

:09:33. > :09:37.and see Mr affecting parts of the west coast. Further West of the

:09:38. > :09:41.week, little changed, staying dry and settled with variable cloud and

:09:42. > :09:44.send sunny spells. Staying on the one side. No sign of any

:09:45. > :09:46.significance of rain on the horizon even through the weekend. -- warm

:09:47. > :09:48.side. Footie next here on One. Newsnight's

:09:49. > :09:51.on Two with Jeremy Paxman talking to We're back in Breakfast

:09:52. > :09:55.from six tomorrow morning with the latest news and sport,

:09:56. > :09:58.traffic updates and weather. That's Wales Today,

:09:59. > :09:59.thank you for watching. From all of us on the programme,

:10:00. > :10:03.good night.
