:00:16. > :00:22.Good evening. Weather warnings are still in place the strong winds and

:00:23. > :00:28.rain as the tail end of ex-Hurricane Bertha continues to hit parts of

:00:29. > :00:31.Wales. The unsettled conditions are expected to continue overnight.

:00:32. > :00:34.Firefighters have dealt with a number of flooding incidents, but

:00:35. > :00:40.the problems were mainly with surface water on the roads. Four

:00:41. > :00:46.flood alerts are still in place. We'll have a full weather forecast

:00:47. > :00:51.in a moment. BBC Wales has learned that the Welsh

:00:52. > :00:54.and UK governments spend a combined total of more than ?300,000 on

:00:55. > :01:00.and UK governments spend a combined Supreme Court cases about assembly

:01:01. > :01:04.powers. The figures have been released under

:01:05. > :01:05.powers. The figures have been the Attorney General

:01:06. > :01:10.powers. The figures have been kept as low as possible, while the

:01:11. > :01:13.Welsh government said the figures showed the need for constitutional

:01:14. > :01:16.reform. Scientists at Cardiff University

:01:17. > :01:22.have identified samples of Welsh money which could be used to fight

:01:23. > :01:28.infections like MRSA. The races on to find new medicines as antibiotics

:01:29. > :01:32.become less effective and one sample could hold the key.

:01:33. > :01:37.It's been known for centuries that the honey bees produce can have

:01:38. > :01:42.healing properties. Manuka Honey from New Zealand is already used to

:01:43. > :01:46.help treat wounds and now there is fresh hope Welsh Arnie could provide

:01:47. > :01:50.the key to beating deadly diseases. In this laboratory at Cardiff

:01:51. > :01:55.University, researchers have been testing types of honey against

:01:56. > :02:00.bacteria like MRSA and C difficile that are difficult to tackle with

:02:01. > :02:04.traditional antibiotics. If the samples seemed to respond

:02:05. > :02:09.positively, the pollen is extracted and analysed so the scientists can

:02:10. > :02:15.trace it back to the plant it came from. They've already had some

:02:16. > :02:19.success. We've looked at over 300 honey samples from across Wales and

:02:20. > :02:24.we found about ten which have the activity we are looking for. One

:02:25. > :02:29.sample from North Wales has probably the most active and is comparable to

:02:30. > :02:34.manuka honey. Our challenge is to take the honeys we have discovered

:02:35. > :02:38.and work out why they are active. In the meantime tests are continuing on

:02:39. > :02:43.other samples provided by Welsh beekeepers. Some of which were

:02:44. > :02:47.brought along to the arrested for this week. I love the idea there is

:02:48. > :02:51.a plant somewhere in North Wales that has the next cure for

:02:52. > :02:55.antibiotic resistance. The only way we'll find that is if people sent as

:02:56. > :03:00.honey. As new strains of infections emerge, the race is on to find fresh

:03:01. > :03:04.solutions. Scientists at Cardiff University may well be on the right

:03:05. > :03:08.track. Wales's Jamie Donaldson is looking

:03:09. > :03:13.to cement his place in Europe's Ryder Cup team this evening. He's in

:03:14. > :03:19.joint 11th place at the US PGA tournament. He is under par, three

:03:20. > :03:25.shots behind the leaders. Let's get the latest weather now.

:03:26. > :03:30.Heavy rain and strong winds do continue to cause problems across

:03:31. > :03:34.Wales tonight. This area of low pressure making its way north and if

:03:35. > :03:38.we look at the radar, you can see what's happened today. Low pressure

:03:39. > :03:42.moving north and bringing heavy downpours. Tomorrow, slightly better

:03:43. > :03:48.conditions, breezy and heavy showers, but nowhere near the amount

:03:49. > :03:52.of consistent rain we've had today. Some weather warnings in forceful

:03:53. > :03:58.wind and rain tonight. Very unsettled conditions. Heavy showers

:03:59. > :04:02.will come and go, pushing in from the West, mainly affecting south

:04:03. > :04:07.Wales, but we can't rule them out anywhere. Temperatures tonight

:04:08. > :04:11.between 16 and 18 Celsius. Tomorrow is feeling different with brighter

:04:12. > :04:16.and sunny intervals. Some showers making their way across to the east.

:04:17. > :04:20.Heavy, thundery downpours. Very windy conditions on higher ground

:04:21. > :04:24.and along the coasts and temperatures reaching 18 or 19

:04:25. > :04:36.Celsius. Showers continued tomorrow night and if you go back to the

:04:37. > :04:38.pressure chart, I want to show this area of low pressure, which has

:04:39. > :04:41.moved north, introducing cooler Earth from the North. Feeling chilly

:04:42. > :04:43.over the next few days and plenty of heavy showers as well. The next few

:04:44. > :04:47.days we will have plenty of heavy downpours, heavy showers, but also

:04:48. > :04:50.sunny intervals and temperatures reaching 18 Celsius. Things are

:04:51. > :04:58.looking up as we look forward to the weekend. We'll be back tomorrow

:04:59. > :05:12.morning. Good night. Good evening. A different feel to

:05:13. > :05:13.our weather this week thanks to the
