:00:26. > :00:32.Martin Evans, was jailed eight years ago but later absconded from prison.

:00:33. > :00:35.Back in the 90s Evans had conned investors in a south Wales ostrich

:00:36. > :00:51.He was one of the UKs most wanted criminals.

:00:52. > :00:54.After three years on the run and a global operation to find him

:00:55. > :00:58.Martin Evans walked into court and into the glare of the cameras .

:00:59. > :01:02.He was arrested in Johannesburg earlier this month - officers

:01:03. > :01:05.swooped while he was getting out of his car at a housing complex.

:01:06. > :01:07.But his life as a criminal goes back two decades

:01:08. > :01:14.when he set up this Ostrich farm in Dunvant near Swansea.

:01:15. > :01:16.He started the business after his double-glazing firm

:01:17. > :01:19.He promised investors big profits, but instead conned them out

:01:20. > :01:35.Before he came to trial, the former young Welsh businessman

:01:36. > :01:39.It was there that he masterminded a multi-million-pound drugs

:01:40. > :01:42.He was eventually caught in the United States and sentenced

:01:43. > :01:47.But then during a weekend release from prison in 2011 he disappeared.

:01:48. > :01:49.He went on the run for three years sparking an international

:01:50. > :01:53.Evans will remain in jail there until the Justice Minister agrees

:01:54. > :02:00.He told the court he won't be appealing the decision.

:02:01. > :02:02.The Welsh Government could get hundreds of millions of pounds

:02:03. > :02:06.in top up payments under a pledge announced by the Liberal Democrats.

:02:07. > :02:08.The party claims that if it forms part

:02:09. > :02:10.of a coalition after the general election it would try to address

:02:11. > :02:13.concerns over the Barnett Formula - which is the way that Westminster
