:00:10. > :00:20.Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has apologised for sending

:00:21. > :00:22.two text messages he admits were "disrespectful of other cultures".

:00:23. > :00:24.He is under investigation by the Football Association, after Cardiff

:00:25. > :00:28.In a statement tonight from the League of Managers

:00:29. > :00:43.on his behalf, he denied sending homophobic and sexist messages.

:00:44. > :00:50.He has been out of work for eight months and to Mike the prospect of

:00:51. > :00:54.Malky Mackay returning to a job in football seems a lot further away.

:00:55. > :01:01.The FA are considering a file provided by Cardiff City which

:01:02. > :01:07.provides allegations of misconduct by Malky Mackay and Iain Moody well

:01:08. > :01:16.at the club. The dossier contains allegations the pair exchanged

:01:17. > :01:17.offensive messages. A statement tonight from the league managers

:01:18. > :01:36.Association says: But he says he is concerned about

:01:37. > :01:39.seriously inaccurate and misleading reports of his alleged involvement

:01:40. > :01:45.and looks forward to putting the record straight after any FA

:01:46. > :01:49.investigation. Anyone in football, the managers, comedy club owners,

:01:50. > :01:50.people in the hierarchy, should be taking a leadership role and we do

:01:51. > :01:57.not feel that these comments are taking a leadership role and we do

:01:58. > :02:03.appropriate in public or in private. One of the people allegedly referred

:02:04. > :02:09.to in the texts is this football agent. I would prefer people to say

:02:10. > :02:11.some into my face. I do not want to be judgemental on either of them

:02:12. > :02:16.because I think it is out of character, personally. But I am a

:02:17. > :02:23.Jewish person and looking at what is happening, it is worrying for Jewish

:02:24. > :02:29.people. This is a multiracial issue. It will be worrying for others.

:02:30. > :02:33.Malky Mackay and Iain Moody first worked together at Watford. They

:02:34. > :02:36.were set to be reunited at Crystal Palace but today Iain Moody resigned

:02:37. > :02:49.from his job as their sporting director. Lawyers working for

:02:50. > :02:53.Cardiff had searched Iain Moody 's home looking for evidence of

:02:54. > :02:58.irregularities in his transfer dealings. What they found has now

:02:59. > :03:01.been sent to the FA. Cardiff stress the dossier was handed over before

:03:02. > :03:07.Malky Mackay applied for the vacant post at Crystal Palace. The Scotsman

:03:08. > :03:11.was certainly a popular figure with fans at Cardiff City. Fans protested

:03:12. > :03:16.when he was sacked by owner Vincent Tan. He was a bit of an icon last

:03:17. > :03:22.season with all the stuff that was going on off the pitch. Those of us

:03:23. > :03:26.who have been lucky enough to meet him would see these allegations as

:03:27. > :03:33.out of character. If true, it would really be devastating. Legal

:03:34. > :03:44.compensation claims were dropped against Cardiff for wrongful

:03:45. > :03:46.dismissal. But with the allegations now in the hand of the FA, this

:03:47. > :03:49.affair is far from finished. The ambulance service is

:03:50. > :03:51.investigating its response to a six-year-old girl believed to

:03:52. > :03:53.have choked to death while on Jasmine Lapsley was treated

:03:54. > :03:57.by paramedics at a holiday home in Morfa Nefyn

:03:58. > :03:59.before being flown to hospital. The Welsh Ambulance Service said

:04:00. > :04:02.first responders arrived within 16 minutes, double

:04:03. > :04:07.its eight-minute target. A man jailed for killing

:04:08. > :04:09.six-week-old Alfie Sullock will have his nine-year sentence reviewed

:04:10. > :04:12.after concerns it's too lenient. Michael Pearce,

:04:13. > :04:13.who's 33 and from Caerphilly, was jailed for the manslaughter

:04:14. > :04:16.of his girlfriend's son in July. The case has now been referred to

:04:17. > :04:19.the Court of Appeal GCSE pupils in Wales have narrowed

:04:20. > :04:30.the gap with other parts of the UK. Today's results show an increase

:04:31. > :04:33.in the percentage getting A* to C grades, even though the overall pass

:04:34. > :04:36.rate is down slightly. But there was a big drop

:04:37. > :04:38.in the number getting good grades Our education correspondent,

:04:39. > :04:55.Arwyn Jones, has more. At Newport as in schools across

:04:56. > :04:59.Wales, the relief was clear on the faces and embraces of these

:05:00. > :05:06.schoolchildren. I hoped that I would pass but I am please. We got similar

:05:07. > :05:11.sort of results. And we are happy with that. Let's take a look at

:05:12. > :05:18.today's results. The number of children getting A* to C grades is

:05:19. > :05:23.up on last year, from city 5.7% to 66.6%. Even though the overall pass

:05:24. > :05:30.rate is down. The number of school children getting a A* has gone up

:05:31. > :05:39.slightly. There is some cause for concern. Results are down in

:05:40. > :05:41.English-language. French, German and Spanish and also maths have also

:05:42. > :05:48.seen a drop. The English-language examination is a more rigorous deal.

:05:49. > :05:53.This is what it looks examination is a more rigorous deal.

:05:54. > :05:54.extent. I am pleased than satisfied that if there are dips within the

:05:55. > :06:03.system, they are manageable. that if there are dips within the

:06:04. > :06:08.year 's papers were ye -- unique to Wales. They were first introduced in

:06:09. > :06:15.January. Nine out of ten people 's reset. I had a lower result in

:06:16. > :06:20.January. I did hope for a higher one. But now it is all fixed, it is

:06:21. > :06:21.back to what I hoped it would be in the first race. But

:06:22. > :06:23.back to what I hoped it would be in feeling the effects of those

:06:24. > :06:28.changes. Overall, grades feeling the effects of those

:06:29. > :06:31.this year and for the head of this school, the reason for that

:06:32. > :06:34.this year and for the head of this clear. There has been a 7% drop from

:06:35. > :06:38.last year to this year, which clear. There has been a 7% drop from

:06:39. > :06:46.Tiley unpredicted. We can only assume that the job is as a result

:06:47. > :06:53.of that lower than predicted outcome in English. Across Wales, sciences

:06:54. > :07:01.and history saw big increases. These are areas where we lead the UK

:07:02. > :07:04.average. Maths is still a weakness. There are an increasing 15-year-olds

:07:05. > :07:14.being entered. Those results are disappointing. There will be cause

:07:15. > :07:21.for some -- reflection. Wales still lags behind the rest of the UK. But

:07:22. > :07:24.the gap is narrowing year-on-year. There may be quite a way to go but

:07:25. > :07:29.the direction of travel for art school children is promising.

:07:30. > :07:32.Wales women's football team suffered a resounding defeat at the hands

:07:33. > :07:34.The visitors to the Cardiff City Stadium secured their

:07:35. > :07:37.place at the 2015 Women's World Cup in Canada with a 4-nil win.

:07:38. > :07:40.Wales play Ukraine in their final game knowing they can

:07:41. > :07:46.Good news from the IPC European Athletics Championships

:07:47. > :07:48.Aled Sion Davies from Bridgend has won gold for

:07:49. > :07:52.It's another title to add to his Paralympic and

:07:53. > :08:10.It is feeling autumnal. Yes, some people I know have already

:08:11. > :08:14.put the heating on and I am not surprised. For the bank holiday

:08:15. > :08:21.weekend, I can promise you some good weather. An extra do may come in

:08:22. > :08:29.handy. There is rain on the way. Showers spreading south eastwards

:08:30. > :08:33.overnight. Clearing. A cool night. Tomorrow morning, most places dry

:08:34. > :08:38.and bright. Some sunshine. But some showers turning up in parts of the

:08:39. > :08:42.north and north-east. Across the rest of the UK, a lot of places dry

:08:43. > :08:47.and bright tomorrow with sunny spells. A few showers dotted

:08:48. > :08:54.around. Most of the showers in the north and north-east of Scotland. 21

:08:55. > :09:02.Celsius in London. In Wales tomorrow afternoon, some showers. A lot of

:09:03. > :09:10.places dry and bright. More sunshine than we saw today. Feeling a little

:09:11. > :09:14.warmer. Into Saturday, more dry and bright weather. Sunny spells. A few

:09:15. > :09:24.showers likely in the north and north-east. Top temperature 17

:09:25. > :09:31.Celsius. Gardeners watch out on Saturday night into Sunday, it will

:09:32. > :09:38.be unseasonably clearly. Chile. Most places dry and bright on Sunday.

:09:39. > :09:42.Rain may reach and Butcher later in the afternoon, spreading into Wales

:09:43. > :09:47.during the evening. Thus Pembrokeshire. Low pressure will

:09:48. > :09:57.bring a spell of heavy rain followed by showers.

:09:58. > :10:08.That is all for now. From all of us on the programme, good night.
