:00:00. > :00:21.Gompertz has the story. That's all from

:00:22. > :00:25.Emergency services have been involved in a major search

:00:26. > :00:31.after a 12-year-old boy was swept out to sea off the Anglesey coast.

:00:32. > :00:36.the search has been temporarily called off

:00:37. > :00:41.The lifeboats and helicopters have also been stood down for now.

:00:42. > :00:43.Visibility at the scene has been described as horrendous,

:00:44. > :00:49.Strong winds whipped the sea off Aberffraw into a frenzy.

:00:50. > :00:52.This local lifeboat rising and falling on large waves as it

:00:53. > :00:55.tried to locate the missing boy. It is thought he was with his family

:00:56. > :00:58.visiting from the North of England. He and a younger boy were paddling

:00:59. > :01:02.near rocks when they got into difficulty.

:01:03. > :01:05.We had a call of a person in the water down at Aberffraw here

:01:06. > :01:10.and he was with another child in the water, they were paddling.

:01:11. > :01:14.The tide, the waves came in and they were swept out.

:01:15. > :01:17.The father managed to get one of the children out of the water

:01:22. > :01:25.But the wave swept over and he managed to grab the rocks but lost

:01:26. > :01:27.grip of the child that is missing. The search involved police,

:01:28. > :01:30.the coastguard, lifeboat crews, the RAF search and rescue

:01:31. > :01:33.helicopter from nearby Valley as well as the Air Ambulance.

:01:34. > :01:39.Onlookers say the conditions made the search all the more challenging.

:01:40. > :01:42.Very big seas. It's quite surprising

:01:43. > :01:45.how rough it is today. There's two lifeboats out there.

:01:46. > :01:50.Porthdinllaen and Trearddur Bay lifeboat the RAF helicopter and

:01:51. > :01:56.the police helicopter and there's coastguards and police dotted around

:01:57. > :01:59.the beach and on the headland. There's a lot of people here today.

:02:00. > :02:03.There's children dotted around in their shorts and

:02:04. > :02:06.in their swimming costumes. The boy's family were taken to

:02:07. > :02:09.a nearby ambulance station to be treated for injuries they sustained

:02:10. > :02:12.during their rescue attempts. Police officers are helping to

:02:13. > :02:15.support them while they await news. This is a popular beach

:02:16. > :02:18.for tourists and for local people. But many here today have been

:02:19. > :02:19.shocked at the sudden deterioration in the weather and the tragic turn

:02:20. > :02:23.of events it has brought about. Campaigners have started arriving

:02:24. > :02:25.at a make shift camp-site in Thousands of protestors are

:02:26. > :02:30.expected over the next week. It comes as police step up

:02:31. > :02:33.their preparations in the city, with almost ten thousand officers

:02:34. > :02:44.part of the security operation. The first of what may swell to

:02:45. > :02:47.thousands. Protesters setting up camp in

:02:48. > :02:51.Tredegar Park in Newport ahead of next

:02:52. > :02:56.Thursday and Friday's NATO summit. The banner outside acting as an

:02:57. > :02:59.unofficial welcome sign. Inside, work is underway on the

:03:00. > :03:04.temporary kitchens and the toilets have been delivered.

:03:05. > :03:07.There is an estimated between seven and 10 million people around

:03:08. > :03:12.the world who have made homeless by NATO actions and that is what is

:03:13. > :03:16.creating tensions in the world and why there is more conflict.

:03:17. > :03:20.It is an insult that it comes to Wales,

:03:21. > :03:23.given our history of working for peace.

:03:24. > :03:26.The message that we are hoping to send out is, please, everybody, stop

:03:27. > :03:36.and think what has happened to NATO. Stop and think of the reckless

:03:37. > :03:43.decisions our leaders are making when they bomb and pollute and

:03:44. > :03:48.destroy other parts of the world. On the other side of town,

:03:49. > :03:51.preparations are also being made. Police cordons are being delivered

:03:52. > :03:55.to the Rodney Parade Stadium, where officers will be based.

:03:56. > :04:01.Heavy-duty hardware designed to block roads,

:04:02. > :04:04.paid for by the UK Government. Overall,

:04:11. > :04:13.protect the UK's nuclear sites. 1500 officers will come from

:04:14. > :04:18.South Wales. They will be protecting 150 world

:04:19. > :04:25.leaders and ministers, including the US President.

:04:26. > :04:29.Today, following developments in Iraq and Syria,

:04:30. > :04:34.the UK's terror threat level was increased to severe,

:04:35. > :04:38.which means it is highly likely an attack could happen.

:04:39. > :04:42.But despite all this, it is business as usual in Newport city centre,

:04:43. > :04:47.with only the suggestion something big is around the corner.

:04:48. > :04:49.Jonathan Hodson owns a bar in the city

:04:50. > :04:53.and lives near one of the proposed protest routes.

:04:54. > :04:55.If anything were to happen, it is possible we would stay

:04:56. > :05:07.at the premises overnight instead of going home.

:05:08. > :05:08.This family are also making plans. My children's schools are closed so

:05:09. > :05:14.I can't go into work because I can't afford childcare so that will be the

:05:15. > :05:18.major disruption. We were going to do stuff

:05:19. > :05:25.like laser tag but we couldn't. We couldn't go because NATO is on.

:05:26. > :05:29.Cardiff has borne the brunt so far of the disruption.

:05:30. > :05:34.This security fence causing serious congestion around the city centre.

:05:35. > :05:39.The Celtic Manor Hotel at the heart of the summit

:05:40. > :05:42.is also starting to resemble a fortress.

:05:43. > :05:46.While there are few visible signs in the city centre

:05:47. > :05:52.that NATO is coming to Newport, there is a definite feeling that

:05:53. > :05:54.something big is an the horizon. Just how big

:05:55. > :06:00.and how it affects people here, we will know in the next few days.

:06:01. > :06:04.For now, the streets are police and protest free

:06:05. > :06:08.but there are signs that may be about to change.

:07:06. > :07:11.but say they're now comfortable with the way ahead.

:07:12. > :07:15.It has been very difficult at times. It has been very tough

:07:16. > :07:20.and very uncomfortable at times. The important thing is that, anyway,

:07:21. > :07:23.we are through that. None of us can change history.

:07:24. > :07:28.We do have a platform now that is a good platform to work from

:07:29. > :07:31.for both sides and really gives us the opportunity

:07:32. > :07:35.to move forwards effectively. The clubs say they're pleased
