:00:12. > :00:15.Television advertising of sugary and fatty foods should be banned

:00:16. > :00:19.That's the call from the Welsh Health Minister

:00:20. > :00:23.Mark Drakeford says young people already consume three times

:00:24. > :00:26.the recommended amounts of fizzy drinks and confectionary and he

:00:27. > :00:28.believes a co-ordinated approach is needed to tackle obesity.

:00:29. > :00:37.This is the way fizzy drinks were targeted towards children on TV

:00:38. > :00:41.in the decades before obesity became an issue.

:00:42. > :00:44.An era when you were just as likely to have pop delivered to the door as

:00:45. > :00:48.But today, we're more aware of the dangers of

:00:49. > :00:53.what a poor diet of sugary and salty food can mean for long-term health.

:00:54. > :00:55.That's why the Health Minister here wants to

:00:56. > :01:05.see TV adverts targeted at children banned before the 9pm watershed.

:01:06. > :01:12.Our children ought not to be exposed routinely to adverts that press on

:01:13. > :01:18.them food and drink which can only be harmful to their health in the

:01:19. > :01:22.future. There is ample evidence of the way children are heavily

:01:23. > :01:23.influenced by things that are deliberately pushed at them through

:01:24. > :01:24.advertising. And that's a stance supported

:01:25. > :01:27.by the British Heart Foundation here Today, they had a Santa's fun run

:01:28. > :01:29.around Cardiff Castle, symbolically chasing away the

:01:30. > :01:32.Christmas pudding and other sugary Ruth Coombs,

:01:33. > :01:36.who heads the BHF in Wales, says they'd also like to see a ban

:01:37. > :01:48.on online marketing towards kids. Wales has the highest levels of

:01:49. > :01:54.childhood obesity in the UK and I think that speaks for itself. It is

:01:55. > :01:59.vitally important that we educate young people, we educate families

:02:00. > :02:02.but we also have manufacturers and advertisers behaving in a

:02:03. > :02:04.responsible manner and not targeting their products to young people.

:02:05. > :02:07.In response the UK Government's Public Health Minister, Jane Ellison

:02:08. > :02:09.said they were committed to turning the tide on childhood obesity.

:02:10. > :02:11.They say they're developing a comprehensive strategy looking

:02:12. > :02:14.at all the factors that contribute to a child obesity, including sugar

:02:15. > :02:19.consumption, and say a report will be published in the coming months.

:02:20. > :02:23.North Wales Police spent ?560,000 over two years for a mobile phone

:02:24. > :02:26.service it never used, before the mistake was spotted.

:02:27. > :02:28.Details about the cash paid to the mobile

:02:29. > :02:32.company emerged at an audit meeting held jointly by the Force and Crime

:02:33. > :02:37.Mr Roddick said steps were being taken to recover the money

:02:38. > :02:42.and the force say the matter is being resolved.

:02:43. > :02:44.The way Welsh students are funded is unsustainable, according to the body

:02:45. > :02:49.Currently the Welsh Government pays the majority

:02:50. > :02:53.of Welsh students' tuition fees, wherever they study in the UK.

:02:54. > :02:54.But Universities Wales says ministers should focus

:02:55. > :03:04.on supporting people from disadvantaged backgrounds or areas.

:03:05. > :03:11.You could decide to spread the resource equally and relatively

:03:12. > :03:17.thinly, or you could say, let's focus it on the areas of most need,

:03:18. > :03:22.so those people that come from disadvantaged backgrounds or areas

:03:23. > :03:25.which need more support such as expensive subjects. Means testing

:03:26. > :03:30.would mean those students who really need support would get support,

:03:31. > :03:35.those who are more able to support themselves would be able to do that

:03:36. > :03:37.and that is surely fair. It's a system we have now for maintenance

:03:38. > :03:38.grants. In response, the Welsh Government

:03:39. > :03:40.says the system, which is being reviewed at the moment, is an

:03:41. > :03:43.investment in young people and means students from Wales leave University

:03:44. > :03:46.with considerably less debt than Tributes have been paid to the

:03:47. > :03:51.broadcaster Sian Pari Huws who has She started her career

:03:52. > :03:55.as a journalist with BBC Wales The voice of both Good Morning

:03:56. > :03:59.and Good Evening Wales, she also fronted major cultural events

:04:00. > :04:03.for Radio Wales and Radio Cymru. The Director of BBC Wales Rhodri

:04:04. > :04:07.Talfan Davies said her passion for Wales, its people and its rich

:04:08. > :04:13.culture shone through her work. Football and Match

:04:14. > :04:16.of the Day Two is up next on BBC One Wales, so if you don't want to know

:04:17. > :04:20.the score leave the room now. There was disappointment for Swansea

:04:21. > :04:22.at Anfield. They lost 1-0 after James Milner

:04:23. > :04:26.scored from a penalty for handball. The Swans have now only won once

:04:27. > :04:33.in ten league games since August. Time for a look at the weather now,

:04:34. > :04:36.and cloud will thicken overnight Tomorrow then, is looking mild

:04:37. > :04:40.but cloudy and increasingly windy, And that rain will be heavy,

:04:41. > :04:45.particularly in the west, Top temperature tomorrow

:04:46. > :04:50.around 13 Celcius. And that's all

:04:51. > :04:52.from the weekend team. We'll be back as usual tomorrow

:04:53. > :04:55.morning in breakfast from 6.30am,
