0:00:12 > 0:00:14Good evening.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17The funeral has taken place of a father and his seven-year-old

0:00:17 > 0:00:21son, who were killed after being hit by a car in Rhondda Cynon Taf

0:00:21 > 0:00:24earlier this month.

0:00:28 > 0:00:3143-year-old Stuart Bates and his son, Fraser,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34died following the incident in Talbot Green.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37An organ donation charity has been set up in their memory and it has

0:00:37 > 0:00:40already received thousands of pounds in donations.

0:00:40 > 0:00:46New figures show that physical assaults against paramedics

0:00:46 > 0:00:49are at a three-year high in Wales.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52By the end of September this year, the number of assaults stood at 84 -

0:00:52 > 0:00:54already higher than in the whole of 2014.

0:00:54 > 0:00:59We now probably feel more comfortable in reporting these

0:00:59 > 0:01:03issues, hopefully, that they are now documented and we do it by computer.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06We are maybe hopefully having more opportunities to do that.

0:01:06 > 0:01:15The director of a campaign group for gay, lesbian,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17bisexual and transgender people says the introduction of civil

0:01:17 > 0:01:19partnerships a decade ago was an important step

0:01:19 > 0:01:21towards wider acceptance.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23It's 10 years since the first civil partnership ceremonies

0:01:23 > 0:01:24took place in the UK.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Andrew White, from Stonewall Cymru, says it was a key event

0:01:27 > 0:01:30in the campaign for LGBT equality.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34We forget at our peril, actually, the inheritance rights,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37the necessity to have new and different

0:01:37 > 0:01:41ways of ensuring your house, of getting a will,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44of creating a family.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47All those things that have largely changed because of the introduction

0:01:47 > 0:01:50of civil partnerships.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53This was huge, and it also affected social attitudes.

0:01:53 > 0:01:59Fans of a world champion mountain biker and stunt cyclist,

0:01:59 > 0:02:00who was paralysed in a crash, are crowd-funding

0:02:00 > 0:02:02to help his rehabilitation.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Martyn Ashton, from Port Talbot, is famous worldwide,

0:02:05 > 0:02:07with close to 30 million views of his online videos.

0:02:07 > 0:02:11Within hours of putting one of his bikes up for sale

0:02:11 > 0:02:14to fund his rehab, he was inundated with offers of help,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16as Nicola Smith reports.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Backflips, somersaults and gravity defying stunts.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22It's moves like this that made Martyn Ashton famous.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26When he posted this film online in 2012,

0:02:26 > 0:02:29he thought it might get a few thousand views.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32It attracted millions.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34But one year after making it, a stunt went wrong.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37His life was changed forever.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42I had an accident and broke my back, just there.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46It left me a paraplegic, so I'm paralysed from my waist down.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50Not the greatest day, but also I look at it as

0:02:50 > 0:02:53one of my luckiest.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56I was very injured, but very pleased to still be here.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00Two years on, he's adapted to life in a wheelchair.

0:03:00 > 0:03:06But funding his rehabilitation, his long-term

0:03:06 > 0:03:08fitness, comes at a significant cost.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10So, he decided to put this bike up for sale.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Little did he know what would happen next.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16I thought I was doing the everyday thing of just

0:03:16 > 0:03:18putting my bike on Facebook, "Hey, guys, I'm looking to sell this."

0:03:18 > 0:03:24Then I had this amazing response that I am amazed by.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28I just think the positivity that comes from

0:03:28 > 0:03:32friends and fans on Facebook is something I'm really grateful for.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36It seems no one wanted him to sell the bike.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38Instead, they offered to crowdfund his rehabilitation

0:03:38 > 0:03:40to allow him to carry on challenging himself -

0:03:40 > 0:03:43by doing things like this...

0:03:45 > 0:03:48This summer, he managed to get back on a mountain bike.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51It's already provoked a response.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53I've been really amazed since that video came

0:03:53 > 0:04:01out, because no one had actually done that before.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03I've seen other people sending me videos of them doing it.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06Other people in wheelchairs have realised they could get

0:04:06 > 0:04:07on a mountain bike.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10I'm hoping this year to see if I can get more people out doing it.

0:04:10 > 0:04:11Go!

0:04:11 > 0:04:15Tonight, his supporters raised ?7,000 in one hour.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18It seems Martyn Ashton is continuing to inspire people right

0:04:18 > 0:04:21across the world, who have been moved by his story.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51Before I go, let's take a quick look at the weather.
