:01:18. > :01:21.who built it and the original designers, so absolutely fantastic.

:01:22. > :01:24.It'll take three years to remove Wylfa's fuel, ten years

:01:25. > :01:26.before the site can be put in what they call a care

:01:27. > :01:33.With today's shutdown, attention now turns to Wylfa Newydd,

:01:34. > :01:35.the replacement planned for the site.

:01:36. > :01:37.At Horizon, we are extremely confident that the Wylfa Newydd

:01:38. > :01:40.project will come to fruition and that we will see a new nuclear

:01:41. > :01:43.power station built next door to the existing one

:01:44. > :01:47.We have a number of hurdles that we have to overcome, of course.

:01:48. > :01:51.But there is a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes.

:01:52. > :01:55.But the final investment decisions on Wylfa Newydd has yet to be made,

:01:56. > :01:58.and plans to build it are fiercely opposed.

:01:59. > :02:01.Supporters and opponents of nuclear power agree on the significance

:02:02. > :02:11.They have very different visions of the future here, though.

:02:12. > :02:13.More than 100 homes are still without power tonight

:02:14. > :02:16.after Storm Frank swept across parts of the country.

:02:17. > :02:20.Emergency services have also been dealing with some flooding

:02:21. > :02:29.Trearddur Bay on Anglesey earlier today, where drivers faced

:02:30. > :02:33.the challenge of water on the roads as well as the crash of waves

:02:34. > :02:39.It was just one part of Wales affected today by Storm Frank.

:02:40. > :02:43.More than a thousand households were without power at some point,

:02:44. > :02:48.mainly focused on parts of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

:02:49. > :02:51.Engineers worked to reconnect applies and in Ferryside,

:02:52. > :02:56.the Fire Service were needed to pump water away from properties.

:02:57. > :02:59.Although the strong winds and rain eased through the day,

:03:00. > :03:02.officials remain on stand-by over the coming days.

:03:03. > :03:05.If the weather worsens, we have a bespoke weather forecast

:03:06. > :03:07.every day, so we know what's coming around the corner.

:03:08. > :03:12.We are very much geared up and we will double the amount

:03:13. > :03:17.of control engineers we have here in South Wales and also

:03:18. > :03:21.with staff and resources, helicopters, very much geared up

:03:22. > :03:32.In Holt near Wrexham, the River Dee burst banks,

:03:33. > :03:34.leaving nearby farmland flooded, and train services between Bridgend

:03:35. > :03:36.and Cardiff were disrupted for a time due to

:03:37. > :03:39.Services have in the past hour been returning to normal.

:03:40. > :03:42.The outgoing head of the National Botanic Garden of Wales

:03:43. > :03:44.says funding cuts threaten the future of the attraction.

:03:45. > :03:46.Rosie Plummer has been in charge for six years,

:03:47. > :03:49.but says it's time someone else took on the challenge.

:03:50. > :03:50.Carmarthenshire Council says it's considering its contribution

:03:51. > :03:56.to the garden, but the attraction needs to be sustainable.

:03:57. > :04:00.We know that we are very dependent on our visitor footfall,

:04:01. > :04:05.and our commercial efforts ourselves.

:04:06. > :04:11.You can't magic the sort of levels of funding that we need

:04:12. > :04:13.to maintain our international endangered plant collections

:04:14. > :04:19.So, it's providing a transition and funding is going to be,

:04:20. > :04:22.I think, one of the biggest challenges.

:04:23. > :04:25.Drivers at Arriva Trains Wales have started an overtime ban ahead

:04:26. > :04:29.of a planned strike in the New Year in a row over pay and conditions.

:04:30. > :04:31.Members of Aslef are due to walk out next Monday.

:04:32. > :04:35.Arriva have said the strike is disappointing and unnecessary.

:04:36. > :04:40.Ambulances have met a new target for responding to the most urgent

:04:41. > :04:45.Throughout November, ambulances responded to more

:04:46. > :04:48.than 70% of the most life-threatening calls

:04:49. > :04:51.within eight minutes - the target is 65%.

:04:52. > :04:54.It comes after the Welsh government introduced a pilot scheme scrapping
