:00:12. > :00:17.hundreds of steel jobs are set to go across the country.
:00:18. > :00:19.BBC Wales understands details of the plan
:00:20. > :00:21.are expected to be made public next week.
:00:22. > :00:24.Most of the jobs are expected to be lost at the Tata steelworks
:00:25. > :00:34.It's very important work, they are a very highly skilled, highly
:00:35. > :00:47.motivated workforce. You become very attached to them.
:00:48. > :00:49.Concerns the billion pound tidal lagoon planned
:00:50. > :00:53.here in Swansea won't generate as much energy as promised.
:00:54. > :00:56.Starting to see results - after three years education services
:00:57. > :01:01.in Monmouthshire are out of special measures.

:01:04. > :01:13.We'll have details of a Welsh football club placed
:01:14. > :01:17.And the Welsh Premier reaches its halfway point -
:01:18. > :01:28.a crucial weekend for teams before the league splits into two.
:01:29. > :01:37.For weeks there have been fears for the Welsh steel industry,
:01:38. > :01:40.and tonight BBC Wales can reveal Tata - which employs 6,000
:01:41. > :01:42.steelworkers in Wales - is expected to announce hundreds
:01:43. > :01:46.Most of those posts are expected to go at the firm's
:01:47. > :01:51.Sources have told us the move is part of a plan to safeguard jobs
:01:52. > :01:54.Our political reporter, Cemlyn Davies, has
:01:55. > :02:02.The British Steel industry is in crisis. In recent months, thousands
:02:03. > :02:06.of workers have lost their jobs in Scotland and the North of England
:02:07. > :02:12.and the focus is now on Wales. At Port Talbot where Tater steel
:02:13. > :02:18.employed thousands. The plant is reported to lose ?1 million per day.
:02:19. > :02:22.An announcement on job losses here and across Wales could be made as
:02:23. > :02:28.early as next week. The number of jobs lost could be as high as in the
:02:29. > :02:35.high hundreds but less than a thousand. This man has worked for 44
:02:36. > :02:42.years at the steelworks. You expect something in the next few days. A
:02:43. > :02:47.blow for me as a person. It is an emotional thing. After 44 years you
:02:48. > :02:55.become attached to the place. It goes without saying that Tata is the
:02:56. > :03:02.biggest employer in the area. People tell me that it does a lot more than
:03:03. > :03:09.supporting individual families but sustains the community. I work in a
:03:10. > :03:18.cafe. The money generated by the steelworks brings our customers.
:03:19. > :03:22.Absolutely essential to this town. Once the steelworks goes, you will
:03:23. > :03:31.be looking at a further demise of our town. Tata says any announcement
:03:32. > :03:35.will be made to the workforce first but local politicians are braced for
:03:36. > :03:40.bad news. It is clear there has been a perfect storm hitting the steel
:03:41. > :03:46.industry. The result is the steel industry has to restructure and look
:03:47. > :03:50.at its costs. It has to weather the storm. I am convinced that with the
:03:51. > :03:56.trade unions and the government and Tater steel working constructively
:03:57. > :04:07.with each other we can weather the storm, ride it out and come back
:04:08. > :04:12.stronger. Tata employs 6000 people across Wales but the vast majority
:04:13. > :04:16.are based in Port Tolbert. The economy minister met with company
:04:17. > :04:22.bosses at a prearranged visit to Deeside this morning but wouldn't be
:04:23. > :04:28.drawn on possible job losses. I don't comment on rumours. There are
:04:29. > :04:32.so many rumours that it wouldn't be unfair to comment. If there are any
:04:33. > :04:39.issues, the company will want to deal with their workforce first. If
:04:40. > :04:43.we have any announcement from the company, the government will respond
:04:44. > :04:48.appropriately. Unions say they are broadly satisfied with the Welsh
:04:49. > :04:53.government's attempts to protect steelworkers. The UK Government told
:04:54. > :04:59.as it has been proactive in helping the steel industry by cutting energy
:05:00. > :05:04.costs and taking action on imports, for example. It seems, that hasn't
:05:05. > :05:10.been enough to protect Welsh steelworkers whose future this
:05:11. > :05:15.evening is more uncertain than ever. Let's speak to Brian at the
:05:16. > :05:16.steelworks in Port Talbot. The final decision will likely be made in
:05:17. > :05:26.India. It certainly will. I believe that we
:05:27. > :05:32.are going to hear early next week that between 500 and 800 jobs will
:05:33. > :05:37.be lost yet at Tata in Port Talbot and there will be other job losses
:05:38. > :05:43.in Wales. We heard in the report that it is losing ?1 million per day
:05:44. > :05:49.here. One of the big things that they have held onto here is that
:05:50. > :05:54.there has been huge amounts of investment and patients from the
:05:55. > :05:59.Indian headquarters who have seen whether they can get a return on
:06:00. > :06:02.that money. The concern is not only be 800 jobs last year and the
:06:03. > :06:08.difficulties it will cause in the community but that the Indian
:06:09. > :06:14.headquarters will finally lose patience and these 800 jobs may be a
:06:15. > :06:19.best case scenario and we could be looking towards a worst decision, as
:06:20. > :06:20.soon as later this month. Another devastating blow for this company
:06:21. > :06:26.and for this industry. Thank you. And we'll bring you any updates
:06:27. > :06:32.on this story over the weekend - including a special report

:06:47. > :06:50.the design could generate less energy than the company

:07:38. > :07:40.of the tide coming out of here. Sending the wake right out
:07:41. > :07:45.into the Bristol Channel. So, I hope that we can,
:07:46. > :07:48.if this scheme goes ahead, and I hope it does,

:08:17. > :08:18.Sir Terry Matthews. One way or another in the future,
:08:19. > :08:21.we have to capture the power Until the strike price is right,

:09:18. > :09:19.should be further work It's something that clearly
:09:20. > :09:31.needs investigation. Probably a further two and three 3D

:09:43. > :09:45.around aspects of the turbine technology, there's a lot

:12:05. > :12:19.There are three groups of people responsible for improvements in the

:12:28. > :12:33.generally do well. The experts who visit them will be looked at in

:12:39. > :12:44.put into special magic just -- special measures because it wasn't
:12:45. > :12:51.capable of improving schools on its own. It was one of six authorities
:12:52. > :12:56.in Wales in special measures. Pembrokeshire and Anglesey came out
:12:57. > :13:05.in 2014. Just before Christmas Blaenau Gwent came out as well after

:13:36. > :13:40.good, could do better. A project in Swansea that offers
:13:41. > :13:43.advice and support to sex workers says it needs additional funding
:13:44. > :13:46.to continue the work it's doing. The Retreat project was set-up
:13:47. > :13:48.around two years ago using money So far it's helped almost 40 men
:13:49. > :13:53.and women to move on from doing sex work - but it's believed many more

:13:57. > :14:03.sex work to fund a drug addiction or because
:14:04. > :14:05.of sex trafficking. There are 2500 people

:14:11. > :14:15.told me how she ended I didn't have anywhere to live
:14:16. > :14:31.so I had to do things to stay Because I didn't care
:14:32. > :14:38.about anything, so I just used drugs and went out to work
:14:39. > :14:41.to fund my habit, I didn't really So far, 37 individuals have been
:14:42. > :14:46.supported by the retreat project. Some of those work from home,
:14:47. > :14:48.others online and some But the majority
:14:49. > :14:53.work on the streets. Facing a desperate situation,
:14:54. > :14:55.Sam sometimes put herself in an extremely
:14:56. > :14:57.vulnerable position. There would be some who would come
:14:58. > :15:00.along and take you out of the area, Normally, we get the
:15:01. > :15:07.money first but some would say I'll pay you later

:15:26. > :15:28.this part of their lives They are very, very
:15:29. > :15:35.desperate for support. Sarah is about to start volunteer
:15:36. > :15:41.work with the project. She told me it has pulled her out

:15:46. > :15:54.of the phone who can put you in touch with police
:15:55. > :16:00.and hospitals, It opened a big door to change
:16:01. > :16:04.and I think a lot more And help me to get clean
:16:05. > :16:10.and stay clean and to get out of the place
:16:11. > :16:12.I was at at that time. It has also helped Sam
:16:13. > :16:15.to start rebuild her life. To get the new flat
:16:16. > :16:18.and build up my self-esteem. I have a worker who helps
:16:19. > :16:21.me around the house. I'm on a methadone
:16:22. > :16:24.programme to get me off I don't do the work
:16:25. > :16:27.much any more now. The project is due to come to an end
:16:28. > :16:31.shortly, unless it can get another There is hope it can
:16:32. > :16:34.be expanded to help individuals in
:16:35. > :16:35.neighbouring communities. A lifeline for those in a very
:16:36. > :16:41.desperate situation. Still to come before 7.00
:16:42. > :16:44.the owner of this cello died Now - this unique instrument
:16:45. > :16:49.is to be auctioned in Wales. And who will finish
:16:50. > :16:51.the first half of the season 5 teams are still in the race
:16:52. > :16:58.before tomorrow's split. Most parts of Wales have seen rain
:16:59. > :17:01.over the last few weeks - but it's been particularly wet
:17:02. > :17:08.in Eglwyswrw in Pembrokeshire. It's rained there every day
:17:09. > :17:11.since the 26th of October last year billed as the worst run of bad

:18:40. > :18:44.Although the rain may have been of biblical proportions, there is some
:18:45. > :18:57.way to go to beat the records. It rained for 89 days on Sylla in
:18:58. > :19:04.Scotland. Everywhere has felt it over the last couple of months.
:19:05. > :19:07.People are quite excited that Eglwyswrw is on the map.
:19:08. > :19:10.could scupper Pembrokeshire's chance of setting a new record -

:20:02. > :20:04.It's a big weekend for the Welsh Premier League -
:20:05. > :20:07.as it reaches the halfway point - the moment when the 12 teams
:20:08. > :20:16.The top six clubs are all protected from relegation.
:20:17. > :20:19.But the bottom six is a much more precarious place to be,
:20:20. > :20:28.The Welsh Premier League is based on a 12 team league that splits
:20:29. > :20:30.in two halfway through the season, so after
:20:31. > :20:33.this weekend, the top six will play each other twice,
:20:34. > :20:38.It may sound confusing but it simply means that we are now faced
