:00:00. > :01:30.will be a long way off. Thank you. That is all from the BBC's news at
:01:31. > :01:34.Storm Imogen has been causing damage and disruption as strong winds
:01:35. > :01:35.and rain batter parts of the country.
:01:36. > :01:41.More than 2,000 homes are still without power tonight.
:01:42. > :01:45.Seven flood warnings and 23 flood alerts are in force.

:01:57. > :02:07.Abigail Neal is in Llanelli for us tonight, Abi.
:02:08. > :02:16.Thank you. As you said the story of this storm is one of chaos in the
:02:17. > :02:21.south and west of Wales. Officially, the highest recorded gust was around
:02:22. > :02:26.the corner in Pembury. A dizzy miles per hour. It's supposed to be coming
:02:27. > :02:29.down now but it doesn't feel like it. Here is the story of how it
:02:30. > :02:32.played out today. Passengers had a lucky escape this
:02:33. > :02:34.morning on this train travelling Further down the coast
:02:35. > :02:37.in Aberystwyth the promenade was closed as huge waves,
:02:38. > :02:40.some as high as the lampposts, It seemed like de ja vu
:02:41. > :02:48.as work on the bandstand, only being rebuilt after it was
:02:49. > :02:53.destroyed by storms two years ago, had to be delayed when it
:02:54. > :02:57.took a direct hit again. Strong winds played havoc
:02:58. > :03:09.on the roads, with falling trees We had a lot of equipment lying
:03:10. > :03:15.around. Bricks, sandbags and equipment. That was not protected at
:03:16. > :03:19.all from the sea. Strong winds have played havoc.
:03:20. > :03:22.The whole of Bridgend town centre was shut,
:03:23. > :03:35.After a meeting it was decided that we cannot guarantee the safety of
:03:36. > :03:38.the public because of the high winds. The winds are continuing
:03:39. > :03:44.throughout the day. So a decision was made that we had to close the
:03:45. > :03:52.town centre for public safety. I've come down today to do the banking
:03:53. > :03:55.but with the street being closed off its a total inconvenience.
:03:56. > :03:58.Very inconvenient. But needs must. We have to think of safety.
:03:59. > :04:02.Wind speeds of more than 80 miles an hour have been recorded
:04:03. > :04:07.A section of the M4 had to be closed because of an overturned lorry,
:04:08. > :04:09.causing traffic to come to a standstill.
:04:10. > :04:13.At it's peak Storm Imogen left more than 3,500 homes across Wales
:04:14. > :04:30.without power, although the numbers are now falling.
:04:31. > :04:36.If it is like this for pedestrians it's not surprising that cars have
:04:37. > :04:43.been stopped from crossing this bridge overnight and today. One gust
:04:44. > :04:49.of 95 mph was recorded, they have had their highest wind speeds here
:04:50. > :04:56.for ten years. What we can see at the moment is that the current wind
:04:57. > :05:03.speed is just over 90 mph. The purple line is 70 mph. That's where
:05:04. > :05:08.we close the bridge to all traffic. People are being warned to stay away
:05:09. > :05:11.from the coast. This in Swansea seem to swim against the advice, choosing
:05:12. > :05:14.to brave the elements. The worst may not yet be over,
:05:15. > :05:17.the clean up looks set to continue as communities are being warned
:05:18. > :05:33.to brace themselves for more This is being billed as one of the
:05:34. > :05:35.worst winter storms recently, perhaps not as traumatic in terms of
:05:36. > :05:39.the infrastructure of those in January 20 14th but it does seem
:05:40. > :05:45.like history is repeating itself. We've just heard that 300 students
:05:46. > :05:50.have been evacuated from the promenade in Aberystwyth. This is
:05:51. > :05:58.because of the problems with waves. So perhaps storm imaging may die
:05:59. > :06:04.down somewhat but we have high winds expected overnight and she is not
:06:05. > :06:09.finished with as yet. You can get the latest weather and travel

:06:33. > :06:35.is now underway at Woking coroner's court, from where
:06:36. > :06:52.She died from a single bullet wound aged just 18. The army said it was

:07:03. > :07:09.which after some delay, began to seek evidence this morning.
:07:10. > :07:13.The court heard about Cheryl James's time before joining the Army. She
:07:14. > :07:17.struggled with family bereavement in the past, taking an overdose of
:07:18. > :07:23.painkillers in school as a cry for help according to her father. Then
:07:24. > :07:25.there was bitter disagreement about what the new evidence analyst

:07:33. > :07:37.The barrister representing the family said the evidence before the
:07:38. > :07:40.previous coroner showed a happy, bubbly girl. This new evidence
:07:41. > :07:48.suggested the shot that killed Cheryl James may not have been so
:07:49. > :07:54.conflicted. But a representative for Surrey Police suggested that other
:07:55. > :07:59.evidence pointed to a troubled young lady with suicidal ideation. He said
:08:00. > :08:05.that third-party involvement in her death was speculated in the extreme.
:08:06. > :08:09.In heated exchanges this afternoon it was put to Cheryl James's father
:08:10. > :08:13.that his criticism of the police was cursory and unprofessional. He
:08:14. > :08:18.pointed to thousands of pieces of evidence that the force had gathered
:08:19. > :08:26.and put it to Mr James that he had distracted the force with his

:12:26. > :12:35.Monday. It's been day here. Today the black bins as well as green
:12:36. > :12:42.recycling ones are being empties. That happens every other week. That
:12:43. > :12:51.policy could change. The problem according to the council is what we
:12:52. > :12:57.throw away. They reckon that 50% of the waste we put in the black bins
:12:58. > :13:02.should be be cycled. Across Wales councils want us to
:13:03. > :13:06.recycle more and throw away less. To encourage us to do that they are
:13:07. > :13:10.reducing the frequency of waste collection. Every other week is now
:13:11. > :13:17.more or less the norm. Some authorities have moved to every
:13:18. > :13:23.three weeks. Conwy ones to go even further and collect every four

:13:41. > :13:45.It doesn't bother me at all. We struggle after two weeks. If you
:13:46. > :13:48.leave your lid open they won't take it, so for weeks the bags will be
:13:49. > :13:53.piled up. It's ridiculous. The council argued

:14:00. > :14:07.the waste here, by 2020 the target for all councils, said by the Welsh
:14:08. > :14:13.government, will be 64%. By 2025, 70%. Levels that officials we are
:14:14. > :14:18.unobtainable without change. We have ambitious targets that we
:14:19. > :14:23.must meet. It's not sustainable to keep putting recyclable material
:14:24. > :14:27.into landfill. The proposal includes extra help for
:14:28. > :14:31.large families and those with children in nappies. A final
:14:32. > :14:33.decision may come later this month, then they have to sell the idea to a

:16:31. > :16:34.So what has been the reaction? The Welsh government is really
