:01:16. > :01:18.on the European Parliament to put sanctions on the Chinese deal,
:01:19. > :01:21.because it is not a level playing field as it is.
:01:22. > :01:23.It's about fighting for our jobs, at the end of the day.
:01:24. > :01:25.It's the survival of the UK steel industry,
:01:26. > :01:32.It's a desperate situation and we need urgent action on it.
:01:33. > :01:36.Here we have 50 workers from Tata in Wales joining 5000 workers
:01:37. > :01:39.from across Europe at the home of the European Commission,
:01:40. > :01:47.China denies it is dumping steel - selling below its value or what it
:01:48. > :01:50.costs to make - but critics argue it is clearly happening.
:01:51. > :01:53.Tata's European boss says we need to learn from mistakes in the past,
:01:54. > :01:55.when high energy costs took years to deal with.
:01:56. > :01:59.We want the commission to apply the instruments that
:02:00. > :02:04.are there to take actions against dumped steel from China
:02:05. > :02:07.which destroys the market here in Europe.
:02:08. > :02:15.The Welsh steelworkers stopped outside the European Commission
:02:16. > :02:19.headquarters and were in good spirits, but I met with one
:02:20. > :02:21.of Europe's most senior figures to see if their voices
:02:22. > :02:31.There are 37 trade defending measures in place at the moment,
:02:32. > :02:34.16 of which relate directly to China, so we're doing quite a lot
:02:35. > :02:39.and every time there are accusations we look at the reality
:02:40. > :02:42.and if there is a need to do anything in the way
:02:43. > :02:49.The UK Government has been criticised for not backing tougher
:02:50. > :02:52.measures to raise the cost of Chinese steel.
:02:53. > :02:55.In Brussels, Business Minister Anna Soubry rejected the complaints.
:02:56. > :03:00.It is important we don't get diverted into what might happen
:03:01. > :03:07.If you look at tariffs it could take years to change and,
:03:08. > :03:08.frankly, this industry hasn't got the time.
:03:09. > :03:17.These steelworkers certainly had their day of protest.
:03:18. > :03:20.Whether they get the response they want at the speed they want
:03:21. > :03:27.Labour has announced six key pledges for May's Assembly election.
:03:28. > :03:29.The First Minister, Carwyn Jones, promised funding for new treatments
:03:30. > :03:34.on the NHS and better school standards.
:03:35. > :03:37.But opponents say Labour's Welsh government

:04:41. > :04:47.to sell their home to go into care would double to ?50,000.
:04:48. > :04:49.We are talking about older people, talking of opportunities
:04:50. > :04:51.for youngsters, talking about jobs, health, economy, education,
:04:52. > :04:57.These are the things that affect people's everyday lives
:04:58. > :05:01.and they expect political parties to make promises
:05:02. > :05:03.on improving their lives and rightly so.
:05:04. > :05:05.The opposition says Labour has had plenty of time to improve people's
:05:06. > :05:10.lives in the 17 years it has already spent in power.
:05:11. > :05:12.Sadly we have had 17 years of stagnation with Labour
:05:13. > :05:15.and we are always told it is going to get better tomorrow.
