0:00:12 > 0:00:14Good evening.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17The Welsh Secretary, Stephen Crabb, has said he will back

0:00:17 > 0:00:19David Cameron's campaign to remain within the European Union.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21The Vote Leave campaigners have already been out

0:00:21 > 0:00:24here as it was announced the referendum will be held on 23rd

0:00:24 > 0:00:28June.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31Even before David Cameron announced the date of the EU referendum this

0:00:31 > 0:00:33lunch time, these campaigners to leave the union were out

0:00:33 > 0:00:38on the streets of Monmouth.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40They may have already made up their minds,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42but with four months to go, there are plenty

0:00:42 > 0:00:45who are still unsure.

0:00:45 > 0:00:49Following an emergency meeting in Downing Street to discuss

0:00:49 > 0:00:52David Cameron's renegotiation of Britain's membership of the EU,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55his Cabinet have now agreed to recommend that the UK remains

0:00:55 > 0:00:57in a reformed European Union.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Five Cabinet Ministers disagree and will now be

0:00:59 > 0:01:04campaigning to leave.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07But earlier the Welsh Secretary gave his support to David Cameron

0:01:07 > 0:01:12and the stay in campaign.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16I think the deal that he secured last night, since I know more detail

0:01:16 > 0:01:17about it, does provide a strong and pragmatic

0:01:17 > 0:01:20basis to say on balance we should stay in.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22David Cameron says the deal he struck yesterday means that

0:01:22 > 0:01:27Britain will be better, safer and stronger in Europe.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29It includes recalculating child benefit payments and in work

0:01:29 > 0:01:31benefits to migrant workers and providing greater protection

0:01:31 > 0:01:35for Britain's financial services, but this Euro-sceptic remains

0:01:35 > 0:01:40unconvinced.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42We know it is not reformed EU.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44I believe strongly that the people of Wales,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46that they will vote for us to leave.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49The debate will certainly intensify between now and the end of June.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52But in the meantime in Wales, there is an Assembly election to be

0:01:52 > 0:01:55getting on with.

0:01:55 > 0:02:02The European issue is confusing anyway, but it is not confusing

0:02:02 > 0:02:04enough that they shouldn't want to vote for both of them.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07It is actually getting people out twice in two months,

0:02:07 > 0:02:08that's the difficult bit.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10This is how the campaigning looked in Wales before the last referendum

0:02:10 > 0:02:12on EU membership in 1975.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14The fashion may have changed, but the question is similar -

0:02:14 > 0:02:19should we remain or leave?

0:02:19 > 0:02:21A family-run chain of bakeries in Anglesey and Gwynedd

0:02:21 > 0:02:22has closed today.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25The Castle Bakery started in 1885 and had shops in Caernarfon,

0:02:25 > 0:02:26Bangor, Menai Bridge, Holyhead and Beaumaris.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Dozens of people are losing their jobs.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32The First Minister Carwyn Jones says Labour is facing its toughest

0:02:32 > 0:02:33ever Assembly campaign.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35At the party conference in Llandudno, he said the election

0:02:35 > 0:02:38came down to a straight choice between him or the leader

0:02:38 > 0:02:43of the Welsh Conservatives Andrew RT Davies.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46It was his most personal speech yet at a Labour Conference.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48The warm-up act, his wife.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Carwyn Jones said he was prepared to take flak on tough decisions

0:02:51 > 0:02:55and that Welsh Labour knew all about the kind

0:02:55 > 0:02:58of aspiration his mam and dad wanted for him,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01but as a result of what he called the ghetto politics of Ukip,

0:03:01 > 0:03:05he set out the scale of the challenge.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08This will be our toughest ever Assembly election campaign,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11coming off the back of a difficult general election, trying to manage

0:03:11 > 0:03:15the record cut to our budget, fighting a Tory Government,

0:03:15 > 0:03:18doing everything that they can to undermine us, and for another

0:03:18 > 0:03:21reason too, the Ukip challenge.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24There was plenty in this speech setting out new policy ideas.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28So we had lots on new nursery places and apprentices,

0:03:28 > 0:03:31but it was also an opportunity to try to deal with fears

0:03:31 > 0:03:32and criticism.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36When it came to newly devolved income tax powers,

0:03:36 > 0:03:39he said under Labour, they would be no increase in income

0:03:39 > 0:03:43tax and in relation to the criticism that Labour's just been in power

0:03:43 > 0:03:46in Wales, for too long, he said he would make no apology

0:03:46 > 0:03:50for trying to win the contest again and again.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54Jeremy Corbyn attracted plenty of attention.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57There have been damaging internal rows since he became leader.

0:03:57 > 0:04:03Today there was a call for unity and Mr Corbyn used his speech

0:04:03 > 0:04:06to attack the Conservatives on their record on steel.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09They stood by as the steel industry got into trouble.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13As jobs were lost and communities suffered like in Port Talbot.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17Across Europe other countries took action.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20The Tories stood by and let the jobs go.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23The party has been in power in Wales for nearly 20 years.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26It faces many challenges now, maybe the biggest is persuading

0:04:26 > 0:04:32voters to give them even longer in power.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37Football, and Cardiff City have beaten Brighton 4-1

0:04:37 > 0:04:40in the Championship, scoring three goals in the first-half.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44In League Two Newport drew 1-1 away with Exeter,

0:04:44 > 0:04:47and in the National League Wrexham are currently 2-0 up against

0:04:47 > 0:04:48Welling.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51The weather now and it will be largely cloudy and mild tonight

0:04:51 > 0:04:52with some rain.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Tomorrow's looking cloudy and breezy with more rain,

0:04:54 > 0:04:55particularly over Snowdonia.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Highs of 13 Celsius.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00I'll be back with our next update at 6.15pm tomorrow.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Have a good evening.

0:05:05 > 0:05:05whatever your decision, I will do my best to deliver it. On Monday, I
