0:00:16 > 0:00:20Labour makes a difference in power, not in "principled opposition".

0:00:48 > 0:00:51May's Assembly election, there is also an in-out referendum

0:00:51 > 0:00:57on Europe on the horizon in June.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Labour's election slogan is - Together for Wales, but the election

0:00:59 > 0:01:02of Jeremy Corbyn as the UK party leader last September

0:01:02 > 0:01:03has led to in-fighting.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05This morning, Mr Corbin's deputy took to the stage to repeat

0:01:05 > 0:01:08a message from Carwyn Jones and the party hierarchy in Wales

0:01:08 > 0:01:09yesterday, that sticking together was vital.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10We need to stay disciplined.

0:01:10 > 0:01:17We are speaking with one voice.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20United around six election pledges that place the concerns of families,

0:01:20 > 0:01:30communities and businesses at the heart of everything we do.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32First Minister, Carwyn Jones, told Conference yesterday that

0:01:32 > 0:01:34May's Assembly election will be a straight fight between Labour

0:01:34 > 0:01:35and the Conservatives.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37And the Shadow Secretary of State for Wales, Nia Griffiths,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39spent most of her speech attacking the Conservative Government

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Wales cannot afford a Conservative Government

0:01:43 > 0:01:46in Cardiff Bay, too, she said.

0:01:46 > 0:01:55Labour changes people's lives when we are in government.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02The NHS, the minimum wage, the Welsh Assembly -

0:02:02 > 0:02:04these only happen because we were in power.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06So let's fight to win, not for ourselves,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08but for the people we represent.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Labour's push to hold on to power in Cardiff Bay is already well under

0:02:11 > 0:02:14way but the message from the party leadership this weekend has been

0:02:14 > 0:02:16crystal clear - the upcoming election campaign will be

0:02:16 > 0:02:21the toughest and most challenging since devolution.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Campaigners in Wales have been outlining their cases for the UK

0:02:26 > 0:02:31to remain or leave the EU.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Leaving would mean Wales has an uncertain and risky future

0:02:34 > 0:02:37according to one prominent member of Britain Stronger in Europe.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39But campaigners for Leave EU have told BBC Wales that money sent

0:02:43 > 0:02:46Is it in Wales' best interest that the UK remains

0:02:46 > 0:02:49or leaves the EU?

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Those who support membership of the union say to leave would be

0:02:52 > 0:02:56a big leap into the dark, without knowing what was ahead.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59You want to tell me you want to broker a new relationship

0:02:59 > 0:03:06with Europe, but you can't tell me what that looks like and you want

0:03:06 > 0:03:09the voters of this country to say - we'll throw away what we have

0:03:09 > 0:03:10for an unknown, uncertain future.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12It's a future that's risky for our children.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Wales is slightly different to the rest of the UK.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Areas like West Wales and the Valleys get hundreds

0:03:17 > 0:03:20of millions of pounds in EU aid, the only part of the UK

0:03:20 > 0:03:21to get that money.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24Farmers here share in another ?200 million of EU payments

0:03:24 > 0:03:28which could be lost if the UK opt to leave.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31Only if the Government chooses not to give it back.

0:03:31 > 0:03:32It is not a guarantee, it is an uncertainty.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35That's a whole different issue.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38That's saying you don't trust that the Government would give

0:03:38 > 0:03:39us the rebate back.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41It is not trust, just a lack of certainty,

0:03:41 > 0:03:42isn't it, for the farmers?

0:03:42 > 0:03:45I think, you are just gambling that it is best to have a bird

0:03:45 > 0:03:47in the hand than a bird in the bush.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51Others who want the UK to leave the EU, say it is not European

0:04:10 > 0:04:13for that, as well as the Assembly elections in May.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15We'll run an election campaign and the European campaign

0:04:15 > 0:04:17will be something different.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21The problem we've got is that for those of us who want Wales

0:04:21 > 0:04:24to remain part of the EU, we have an election up to the 5th

0:04:24 > 0:04:27Msy and then all the parties will be, in terms of energy levels

0:04:27 > 0:04:30and money, will have six weeks to craft a campaign to persuade

0:04:30 > 0:04:32the people of Wales to remain.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35Between now and the end of June, there will be plenty of chances
