:00:44. > :00:45.to convince him to vote to remain in the European Union.

:00:46. > :00:48.Andrew RT Davies has been setting out his reasons for his decision

:00:49. > :00:51.to vote to leave the EU at the referendum on June 23.

:00:52. > :00:54.But he says his first priority is trying to win the Assembly

:00:55. > :01:05.Our Political Correspondent Daniel Davies has the story.

:01:11. > :01:13.But this morning's questions were all about another vote.

:01:14. > :01:15.Politicians around here, including Andrew RT Davies,

:01:26. > :01:32.At that election, the Tories hope to kick Labour out of office

:01:33. > :01:34.and occupy the corridors of power in the Welsh government

:01:35. > :01:42.Between now and the Assembly election, your opponents will use

:01:43. > :01:44.every opportunity to remind voters that, on Wales' place in Europe,

:01:45. > :01:51.Is that going to damage your Assembly election campaign?

:01:52. > :01:55.At the end of the day, the Conservatives

:01:56. > :01:58.My vote, David Cameron's vote, is worth

:01:59. > :02:02.no more than your vote, than the lady or gentleman walking

:02:03. > :02:04.outside this building, than the lady or gentleman

:02:05. > :02:07.in Cardiff, Wrexham, Mold - the length and breadth of Wales

:02:08. > :02:13.The Tories united in celebration after last year's

:02:14. > :02:18.general election, but now they are divided over Europe.

:02:19. > :02:21.Had Mr Davies discussed his views with the Prime Minister?

:02:22. > :02:28.Whatever those decision are taken, I will stand by them.

:02:29. > :02:30.Mr Davies is one of three Conservative AMs

:02:31. > :02:44.who have said they will vote to leave.

:02:45. > :02:47.Three more have confirmed that they are on the remaining side.

:02:48. > :02:49.The other eight either haven't decided or are not saying.

:02:50. > :02:54.At the end of the day you have to decide what do you think

:02:55. > :02:56.is in the best interest of your constituency,

:02:57. > :02:59.your country and I've decided that I think we should go

:03:00. > :03:02.I think it is a good deal for Britain.

:03:03. > :03:04.Mr Davies says he would fight for ways

:03:05. > :03:06.to get money from Westminster if funding was cut

:03:07. > :03:10.He paid tribute to the Prime Minister for negotiating hard

:03:11. > :03:14.on EU reform but in the end the deal on offer wasn't robust enough

:03:15. > :03:17.so he is following his instincts and voting to leave.

:03:18. > :03:19.Some of Wales' largest companies, employing over 14,000 people,

:03:20. > :03:22.are calling for the UK to remain part of the European Union.

:03:23. > :03:25.BT, HSBC, Airbus and Ford are among those who have told BBC Wales that

:03:26. > :03:32.jobs and growth will be better served by being in the EU.

:03:33. > :03:35.Those campaigning for us to leave the EU say trade will continue,

:03:36. > :03:46.An ex-Scoutmaster jailed for 12 years in 2014 for abusing boys

:03:47. > :03:48.was back in court today, where he admitted to charges

:03:49. > :03:56.Martyn Tucker pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court to 28

:03:57. > :04:03.offences of indecent assault, spanning an 18-year period.

:04:04. > :04:05.Conwy Council is to run a trial collecting refuse bins

:04:06. > :04:09.But the pilot will only happen in one area, rather than throughout

:04:10. > :04:13.Hundreds of people have signed petitions opposing the plans

:04:14. > :04:16.which were being introduced by the council in a bid to reduce

:04:17. > :04:18.the costs of sending waste to landfill and to

:04:19. > :04:28.More than 600 schoolchildren, parents and teachers have been

:04:29. > :04:33.protesting at plans to re-organise secondary education in Powys.

:04:34. > :04:36.The council wants to close Llandrindod and Builth Wells High

:04:37. > :04:38.School and build a new school in Builth Wells.

:04:39. > :04:40.It also wants to replace two schools in Brecon

:04:41. > :04:48.The Cabinet has voted for a full consultation to be carried out.

:04:49. > :04:56.Rather than double maths it was a silent demonstration

:04:57. > :04:59.They were protesting against Powys Council's shake up

:05:00. > :05:05.Llandrindod and Builth Wales High School and a new school being built

:05:06. > :05:09.A petition with more than 1,300 signatures on it was handed

:05:10. > :05:16.What I'm particularly concerned about is the impact

:05:17. > :05:21.At the moment there are three schools in special measures in this

:05:22. > :05:25.Indeed, I haven't got a problem with that.

:05:26. > :05:28.What I have got a problem with is the school being sited

:05:29. > :05:31.The impact on this town and the students who are here

:05:32. > :05:33.would be highly negative, in my opinion.

:05:34. > :05:36.Over 600 pupils, teachers and parents have turned up here

:05:37. > :05:38.this morning to protest and handing in a petition

:05:39. > :05:43.This the secondary school here for well over 50 years

:05:44. > :05:56.and these people don't want to lose it.

:05:57. > :05:58.Llandrindod Wells is a small-town of a

:05:59. > :06:00.population of just under 6,000 people.

:06:01. > :06:03.If it even didn't have a high school here how is that town

:06:04. > :06:06.If it goes it'll be a great loss to the community.

:06:07. > :06:09.It is a major thing in the town and I

:06:10. > :06:11.feel very passionate about it and so do other people.

:06:12. > :06:13.At a packed meeting, councillors approved

:06:14. > :06:19.on a merger of Llandrindod and Builth Wellss high schools,

:06:20. > :06:22.as well as a consultation on the closure of Brecon High

:06:23. > :06:24.and Gwernyfed school, to establish a new English medium

:06:25. > :06:28.The council says with three schools in special measures and pupil

:06:29. > :06:30.numbers dropping by around 800 in four years they had

:06:31. > :06:35.We can't offer a sustainable curriculum and a satisfactory

:06:36. > :06:42.The consultation will start in September, but these pupils

:06:43. > :06:44.protesting already fear this could be beginning of the end

:06:45. > :06:50.Former Conservative MP Neil Hamilton has described a campaign

:06:51. > :06:52.against his bid to stand as an Assembly Member for UKIP

:06:53. > :06:56.as a "cancer that needs to be cleansed".

:06:57. > :06:58.UKIP has launched an investigation, after an anonymous leaflet

:06:59. > :07:00.criticising Mr Hamilton was sent to party members.

:07:01. > :07:02.It describes him as being "parachuted in" -
