0:00:04 > 0:00:05Welcome to Wales Today.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08Our top stories: More on Aston Martin.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10The Vale of Glamorgan beat off competition from around the world

0:00:10 > 0:00:12to build it in St Athan.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16And Private Cheryl James from Llangollen was ordered

0:00:16 > 0:00:18by a superior to have sex with another soldier

0:00:18 > 0:00:21the night before she died - an inquest hears.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40It's one of the most iconic names in motoring - perhaps best known

0:00:50 > 0:00:53750 high-skilled jobs are promised to make the prestige car

0:00:53 > 0:01:02which will set you back at least ?150,000.

0:01:05 > 0:01:11A symbol of glamour arrives outside Welsh government buildings.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14vehicle, the DBX.

0:01:14 > 0:01:162020, it will be handmade in Wales and exported

0:01:16 > 0:01:20around the globe.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22It is a coup for Wales - it fought off competition

0:01:22 > 0:01:24from 20 other sites from the Middle East,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Eastern Europe and the States, to win the investment with several

0:01:27 > 0:01:33million pounds and 750 jobs.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36For two years the Welsh government and others have been courting Aston

0:01:36 > 0:01:37Martin, so what's attraction?

0:01:37 > 0:01:39You train great people.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42I actually believe that this will maybe

0:01:42 > 0:01:48actually retain youngsters in Wales and in Cardiff.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Magnificent, isn't she?

0:01:50 > 0:01:530-60 in 3.2 seconds.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54Slick, sleek and very male.

0:01:54 > 0:02:01That has been the luxury brand's image.

0:02:01 > 0:02:01The new car is designed around what women might want.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05Costing up to ?200,000, it is the same price as the average

0:02:08 > 0:02:13Aimed at those who seek glamour and also safety and room

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Neither the Welsh government nor Aston Martin would

0:02:15 > 0:02:21tell us how much public money is being spent to bring them here.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24We were hungry for it and we have a proud history

0:02:24 > 0:02:30of manufacturing here that we wanted to carry on doing the business.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32I felt passionately when we were going for this,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35I didn't want the business to go outside the UK.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38It is going at the former MoD site at Saint Athan.

0:02:38 > 0:02:39Building starts next year.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42It is about more than jobs.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46It is about glamour.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48One of the smartest, sexiest and most glamorous brands

0:02:48 > 0:02:51in the world is made in Wales and it is impossible

0:02:51 > 0:02:56to calculate how much that is worth.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00For the Welsh economy to benefit, this brand has be successful.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04It needs to sell cars.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07It was badly hit by the 2008 recession with sales in 2014 half

0:03:07 > 0:03:13of that seven years earlier.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16We have gone bankrupt a lot of times in our history and it will never

0:03:16 > 0:03:19happen again and we will increase our production of sports

0:03:19 > 0:03:24cars in Warwickshire and create business with the DBX.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28When it was launched at the Geneva motor show a year ago,

0:03:28 > 0:03:31the global economy was much stronger and the rich emerging markets

0:03:31 > 0:03:36like China were big buyers of luxury products.

0:03:36 > 0:03:40But there is less money being spent in many of

0:03:40 > 0:03:49those markets now and the question is whether this new style Aston

0:03:51 > 0:03:54Martin will be as attractive to the rich is the need to be

0:03:54 > 0:03:56for the Welsh plant to be a success.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58The performance of the Welsh Ambulance Service in responding

0:03:58 > 0:04:01to emergency calls was worse in January than in the previous month.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03However it continues to meet its target of responding

0:04:03 > 0:04:06to over 65% of the most urgent calls within eight minutes.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Figures show that in January, the service responded to a higher

0:04:09 > 0:04:12number of calls than the month before.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15The number of politicians we send to Westminster is to be cut.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Wales will lose more than a quarter of its MPs under a review

0:04:18 > 0:04:20of parliamentary constituencies.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23The number of MPs we send to Westminster will fall from 40

0:04:23 > 0:04:29to 29 as part of a move to reduce the size of the House of Commons.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36from Llangollen has heard she mentioned to a friend "how easy

0:04:36 > 0:04:38it would be to shoot yourself".

0:04:38 > 0:04:41Private Cheryl James was found with a gunshot wound to the head

0:04:41 > 0:04:44at Deepcut barracks in Surrey more than 20 years ago.

0:04:44 > 0:04:46The inquest also heard claims she had been "ordered" to sleep

0:04:46 > 0:04:49with a fellow soldier.

0:04:51 > 0:04:56What happened to Private Cheryl James at Deepcut 20 years ago?

0:04:56 > 0:04:58The young soldier was found dead with a single bullet

0:04:58 > 0:05:02wound to the head.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17The inquest heard from a friend of Cheryl James,

0:05:17 > 0:05:19Yvonne Sneddon.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21She said they were returning to Deepcut on a coach

0:05:21 > 0:05:25when Cheryl turned to her and said, if you are going to kill yourself it

0:05:25 > 0:05:26would be really easy.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Mrs Sneddon said she was shocked and this was out

0:05:28 > 0:05:32of context with the atmosphere on the coach.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34She said Cheryl had switched from being really happy

0:05:34 > 0:05:37to being serious.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39The inquest also heard from another friend of Cheryl at Deepcut,

0:05:39 > 0:05:43seen here on the right, Andrew Carter.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46He said Cheryl had wanted a fake passport to leave the country

0:05:46 > 0:05:52and had asked if he had ever done anything off impulse.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54Then, the inquest touched on claims that the James family desperately

0:05:54 > 0:05:56want answers to.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58Was Cheryl James ordered to have sex with a fellow

0:05:58 > 0:06:02soldier?

0:06:02 > 0:06:04Mark Beards, a former soldier, told the inquest he saw

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Cheryl the night before her death.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11He claims she told him she had been ordered to go down to a room

0:06:11 > 0:06:13with another soldier.

0:06:13 > 0:06:17He claims the order came from a Sergeant and Cheryl didn't

0:06:17 > 0:06:23want to go but felt like she had to.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26It was later put to Mr Beards he had been paranoid and delusional

0:06:26 > 0:06:27and was untrustworthy.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29He maintains he is telling the truth.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51He knows himself he is down on sharpness and a bit
