:00:58. > :01:00.encouraging China to dump its products in Europe.

:01:01. > :01:04.Our political editor Nick Servini has more.

:01:05. > :01:07.If we ever needed confirmation that the problems for the steel

:01:08. > :01:10.industry were far from over, we got it today in spades

:01:11. > :01:14.from senior figures of Wales' biggest plants.

:01:15. > :01:17.The steel industry, not just in Wales, and actually not just

:01:18. > :01:20.in the UK, but throughout Europe, currently suffers from what could be

:01:21. > :01:28.described as a perfect storm of negative forces.

:01:29. > :01:31.It has been well publicised over the last couple of years

:01:32. > :01:37.that we have been suffering from a huge influx of Chinese material.

:01:38. > :01:39.We have seen prices continue to drop, we have seen imports

:01:40. > :01:42.from China increase into the UK and without further urgent action

:01:43. > :01:45.from Wales and the UK, I think the situation is quite

:01:46. > :01:52.Prices have stabilised slightly in the last month,

:01:53. > :01:56.but the outlook again for us is not particularly bright.

:02:16. > :02:26.Yesterday in the US, a tariff of 266% was introduced

:02:27. > :02:35.The equivalent tariff in the European Union is now 16%.

:02:42. > :02:46.saying please dump here, you are welcome.

:02:47. > :02:50.We see the European Commission has not really having the teeth

:02:51. > :02:53.to actually deal with the flooding of Chinese exports coming in not

:02:54. > :02:57.just to the UK but Europe as a whole.

:02:58. > :03:00.At the heart of this is the attitude towards trade tariffs.

:03:01. > :03:03.The UK Government gave evidence today saying it is putting

:03:04. > :03:09.Ministers at Westminster believe more can be done

:03:10. > :03:13.But the industry wants Britain to push for a much

:03:14. > :03:20.At the moment, that is being resisted because of fears

:03:21. > :03:25.there would be too much of a lurch towards protectionism.

:03:26. > :03:28.The European Commission has launched a number of investigations

:03:29. > :03:31.into steel imports but there is growing concern that more action

:03:32. > :03:35.needs to be taken to try and secure the remaining industry in Wales,

:03:36. > :03:43.after 750 losses were announced in Port Talbot in January.

:03:44. > :03:46.They have got to wake up and smell the coffee on this.

:03:47. > :03:49.At the end of the day, we have got to have an industry

:03:50. > :03:55.Many in the industry admit there is no silver bullet for steel

:03:56. > :04:01.Ford and Toyota are already well established in Wales.

:04:30. > :04:32.of investors in 2014 and last year, it announced it was building

:04:33. > :04:34.a brandnew two seater sports car designed and built in Britain,

:04:35. > :04:40.The company says it has stayed deliberately tightlipped

:04:41. > :04:43.about the new line so far but today confirmed South Wales was one

:04:44. > :04:46.of three sites it was considering to build it.

:04:47. > :04:52.We could easily be talking about 400 to 600 jobs in the future.

:04:53. > :04:55.And if you put on then the usual knockon jobs,

:04:56. > :04:58.that takes it well over 1000, and I think what this car company

:04:59. > :05:02.would like to do as well is not to use normal distribution systems,

:05:03. > :05:07.retailers, they would like people to come down and take delivery

:05:08. > :05:10.of their car and possibly at a racing site, so it could well

:05:11. > :05:19.be afraid to come down to south Wales, they would likely facility

:06:12. > :06:18.The Secretary of State for Wales, Stephen Crabb, has been criticised

:06:22. > :06:25.MPs were told Mr Crabb had "parliamentary business elsewhere"

:06:26. > :06:27.but he was photographed at a Conservative Party lunch

:06:28. > :06:34.The Wales Office said it was common for junior ministers to reply

:06:35. > :06:40.There's a "fair chance" schools in Wales will start teaching

:06:41. > :06:44.a new curriculum by the deadline of 2021.

:06:45. > :06:46.That's according to the man who drafted the changes.

:06:47. > :06:49.It's been a year since Professor Graham Donaldson

:06:50. > :06:52.published his plans, which include making computer skills

:06:53. > :06:55.as central to learning as literacy and numeracy.

:06:56. > :06:58.But one union says the timetable set by the Welsh government

:06:59. > :07:04.Here's our education correspondent Bethan Lewis.

:07:05. > :07:11.It was at this time that the present curriculum was introduced but a big

:07:47. > :07:48.that they are being exposed to the skills.

:07:49. > :07:50.The new curriculum aims to make digital and computer skills central

:07:51. > :07:55.to all learning within schools, along with literacy and numeracy.

:07:56. > :07:59.It is less focused on formal testing and it aims for more flexibility

:08:00. > :08:05.for teachers to tailor their lessons around the central curriculum.

:08:06. > :08:08.At an event in Cardiff today, the man who recommended the changes

:08:09. > :08:12.a year ago gave an update on progress so far.

:08:13. > :08:14.He says has been encouraged by the level of enthusiasm that

:08:15. > :08:17.will help in delivering the changes within the timetable set

:08:18. > :08:32.There is an impatience to get moving with it and other people are saying

:08:33. > :08:35.it does not look as if the time is long enough for us to be able

:08:36. > :08:37.to come to terms with the new curriculum.

:08:38. > :08:41.I think that the process that has been put in place as a pretty fair

:08:42. > :08:44.chance of getting us to the point at which by 2018 and beyond schools

:08:45. > :08:47.will be able to move forward in relation to thinking

:08:48. > :08:48.about the curriculum and its indications

:08:49. > :08:58.The current curriculum has been in place since the late 1980s.

:08:59. > :09:00.Some of those here will be leading the change.

:09:01. > :09:02.There will be many meetings like these of education experts,

:09:03. > :09:04.teachers and officials before the new curriculum is taught

:09:05. > :09:09.But they want the teaching structure ready in two years and four children

:09:10. > :09:11.everywhere to be taught the new curriculum in five.

:09:12. > :09:14.Some people here think that is a tough timetable for such

:09:15. > :09:18.The timetable set by the Education Minister

:09:19. > :09:23.We are supposed to get all this done and dusted by 2018.

:09:24. > :09:30.Let's do it properly and take our time and build

:09:31. > :09:33.on the enthusiasm that is there and get it finished a good

:09:34. > :09:36.curriculum for children in the 21st century.

:09:37. > :09:39.Change to the way young people are taught is welcomed

:09:40. > :09:42.but all here agree that the hard work of putting the ideas

:09:43. > :09:45.into practice is only just beginning.

:09:46. > :09:48.Cycling, and at the World Track Championships in London,

:09:49. > :09:50.Owain Doull has won a silver medal as part

:09:51. > :09:54.The four, led by Sir Bradley Wiggins, lost to Australia

:10:03. > :10:06.She says she is now hopeful for a place on the team

:10:07. > :10:22.It has been a tough road and the World Cup was tough. I was knocked

:10:23. > :10:27.out in the first round which was so frustrating. To be back and doing

:10:28. > :10:32.Kear in, the event I love, and just... I have been working so hard

:10:33. > :10:35.and knuckling down since Hong Kong. I have seen improvements, gear in,

:10:36. > :10:37.year out. Happy days. Football and Wales manager

:10:38. > :10:39.Chris Coleman has revealed he's set for talks about extending

:10:40. > :10:41.his contract next week. Coleman is currently in Paris

:10:42. > :10:44.with just 100 days to go until Wales' opening

:10:45. > :10:47.match of Euro 2016. He also admitted Gareth Bale might

:10:48. > :10:50.miss both of Wales' warm up games later this month after six weeks

:10:51. > :10:53.out for Real Madrid. Coleman's contract

:10:54. > :10:54.ends after the Euros and he's hoping

:10:55. > :11:01.negotiations go smoothly: Ideally, we will know

:11:02. > :11:04.what we are doing before we go to the tournament,

:11:05. > :11:06.so everybody is settled. I can't really, if I am honest,

:11:07. > :11:11.stop thinking about this tournament. I have got to make sure

:11:12. > :11:14.that we get it right, Well, let's see what the weather

:11:15. > :11:33.has in store as we head After a brief respite, turning

:11:34. > :11:37.colder with wintry showers and windy. A front is pushing through

:11:38. > :11:41.eventually clearing but bringing rain and snow so if we look at the

:11:42. > :11:47.map the band of rain, sleet and a warning of snow, two or five

:11:48. > :11:49.centimetres possible as the front moves through.

:11:50. > :11:51.It clears northwards turning colder and drier.

:11:52. > :11:53.Behind it temperatures hovering around freezing with a frost

:11:54. > :11:56.Then that front moves back southwards across the UK tomorrow

:12:00. > :12:02.Early frost and ice - a colder day brighter in the south

:12:03. > :12:07.more likely to see blustery, wintry showers in the north and that
